Part 1 of the latest Sweeper sees Lee & Paul profile three clubs from around the football world: Italians Como, Australia's Central Coast Mariners & Petrocub of Moldova. Join us to find out where Italy's richest club might be playing their Serie A home games next term, why the Central Coast Mariners have flown 100,000km in economy class this season and how a Ghanaian takeover has propelled Petrocub to Super Liga success. In Part 2, the team swap the serious journalism for a selection of silly stories. Why did a Dinamo Bucharest player refuse to show the club his driving license? What outlandish claim did the Lion City Sailors social media admin recently make on Twitter? Why has an untimely toilet break in the Swedish fifth tier prompted furious calls for a replay? And what led a club doctor in Brazil to take over the coaching reins at half-time in a recent game? The bonus segment includes Lee's desperate attempt to zoom across Austria on Sunday morning in the hope of seeing Sturm Graz lift the Bundesliga, a story from Paul about an unusual Italian football auction & the tale of the Vatican team docked points for guarding the Pope. We're back with more pre-season action! No special guests this week (aside from the always-special regular contingent returning once again). Thanks to Spurs we are never short on topics to discuss, chief among them of course being the ongoing and escalating Harry Kane saga and the wider topic surrounding the best way to handle it. Elio and Socs get into it, discussing their slightly opposing outlooks on the end of Kane's time at Spurs as we consider the various permutations of selling now vs selling next year, selling to a rival or selling abroad. We also take our first proper look back on the opening 2 games of pre-season against West Ham and Lion City Sailors and pick out our highlights and players that have made the biggest impression with the opening day of the season looming. All this supported by Dave doing his level best to pretend he has watched any Spurs pre-season whatsoever, let alone that he cares enough to discuss it. Hopefully we manage to get you excited about the new season rather than put you off entirely - either way, as always, we hope you enjoy the show.

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests Lee McQueen, Richard Cracknell and Patrick Tyrant as Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot before Richarlison netted a second-half hat-trick as Tottenham hammered Lion City Sailors 5-1 in Singapore to lift the Tiger Cup and secure Ange Postecoglou's first win as Totttenham Hotspur head coach. Kane started and captained Spurs amid links over a summer transfer to Bayern Munich and equalised for his side after Shawal Anuar gave the Singapore Premier League club a shock lead in the 14th minute. Tottenham changed their entire XI at half-time and Richarlison made an instant impact scoring twice in the first seven minutes of the second half. Giovani Lo Celso netted Spurs' fourth before Richarlison capped a fine individual and team performance with a tidy finish. Hear why the European eco-system is more relatable to Singaporeans than the local scene. Synopsis: Every fourth Wednesday of the month, The Straits Times dives into a sports topic and tackles the hard questions with its guests on Hard Tackle. The Festival of Football is in town as Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich play pre-season friendlies at Singapore's National Stadium.  Football is unofficially the national sport of Singapore and as thousands of fans pour into the Kallang area to watch these European teams, the local Singapore Premier League continues to see dwindling numbers. Why is this the case? Is it fair to ask Singaporeans to show support to local football teams as much as they do for their European clubs? Lion City Sailors fan Eddy Hirono, Liverpool supporter Syahril Rahman and ardent Spurs fan Nitin Nambiar join ST sports reporter Deepanraj Ganesan to discuss why Singaporeans are more drawn to European football than what goes on in their own backyards. Highlights (click/tap above): 3:40 What lured these fans to support their respective sides 7:10 Why Syahril the Liverpool fan does not watch the local Singapore Premier League (SPL) 9:45 Our guests on whether it is fair to ask Singaporeans to support the SPL as much as they support their favourite European teams 16:05 Are foreign players in European leagues more relatable than local players? 24:45 What can fans look forward to during the friendlies that are to be played during the Festival of Football?
