In this episode, I was thrilled to be joined by Matt Hunt to chat about using the CQS pattern to improve your codebase quality and help avoid writing those ‘Big Ball of Mud' code-bases that sadly we see way too often in our industry!CQS (Command Query Separation) is a pattern that states that a method should either be a command that performs an action or a query that returns data, but not both. This approach promotes a clear separation of concerns, improves readability, and can lead to more maintainable and scalable codebases. For a full list of show notes, or to add comments - please see the website here

Too many times we try to come up with a quick solution to our problems. A friend needs advice? We cut them off with a quick, ill-fitting answer. Child gets a scraped knee? Here's a band-aid. And when it comes to our own health or wellness, we have a medicine cabinet full of answers to any aches or pains. But surely it would be better to dig down and discover what is CAUSING those aches and pains. After all, pain is the nervous system's way of alerting you that there is a problem. What should you do with that information? Mask that ache or pain with ibuprofen or another drug? How about using that symptom as a puzzle piece on your way to the root cause? Once that root cause is identified, a plan of action can be put into place, and you can be on your way to being a much happier, healthier person.

Today’s guest is tireless elite poker coach and course creator Matt Hunt.Matt is one of the head coaches for two of my favorite poker training entities SolveForWhy (Founded by past Chasing Poker Greatness guest Matt Berkey) and PokerDetox (Founded by multiple time Chasing Poker Greatness podcast guest Nick Howard).Going into my conversation with Matt I didn’t really set any specific expectations for how things would go. Outside of Twitter, him and I hadn’t had any sort of interaction in any other setting before I was just working under the assumption that if this dude is trusted so explicitly by Berkey and Nick then, well, he’s probably an awesome guy. What I came away from after our conversation was that whatever expectations I could have set, he would have absolutely blown them out of the water. It’s a rare thing that someone in the poker space hits me with something I have never even thought about or considered but Hunt did exactly that and now I am so stoked to share this episode with you.If our conversation today, you’ll learn:- How Hunt found himself hunkered down in Vegas after traveling the world with his future wife.- Hunt’s theory as to why geo specific poker styles are a thing.- What Hunt believes is absolutely necessary for online poker to survive and thrive moving into the future.- And MUCH more! So, without any further ado, I bring to you one of (if not THE) most valuable teachers that exist in the poker world today … Solve4Why and PokerDetox’s Matt Hunt.

This is the first sermon in the "God's Presence, Our Presents" series at Crosslife - a baptist church, with Matt Hunt preaching at our Helensvale campus. http://www.crosslife.org.au About the sermon series, "God's Presence, Our Presents": We can easily feel overwhelmed in the weeks running up to Christmas. In fact, it's now extending to be the months leading up to Christmas, as the modern day cathedrals we call 'shopping centres' start putting up decorations, setting out the seasonal stock, playing the Christmas tunes and launching their advertising campaigns. Why do they spend money on all this and why do we make our annual pilgrimage to the stores? Because we have to buy gifts for our families, friends and colleagues, but why is Christmas a time of giving? Christmas is the time we celebrate God's gift to us in the Lord Jesus. Our Christmas sermon series looks at God's 'present' to us, the gift of life through Jesus' death on the cross, and His 'presence' in us as the Holy Spirit. Then we look at how this lies behind all giving at Christmas time: to each other, to those in need and to God Himself.
