The Somnath Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 sacred shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, known as Jyotirlingas. It is located in Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Saurashtra, Gujarat, India. The Somnath Jyotirlinga is deeply connected to Lord Shiva through a rich and ancient legend. Legend of Somnath Jyotirlinga: According to Hindu mythology, the legend of Somnath Jyotirlinga is associated with the Moon God, Chandra (Soma). Chandra, the Moon God, had married 27 daughters of Daksha Prajapati, but he favored one wife, Rohini, over the others. This partiality angered Daksha, and he cursed Chandra to gradually wane and lose his brightness. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/nilnia/support

The witches are on a lunar kick, so they're talking about a Moon GOD (which they don't feel 100%, but it's still a dope story...including a bit of Bowie talk). According to the legend of the Inuit, Igaluk was a man who lived on Earth. He once forced himself upon a woman in the village's dance hall after the lights went out. However, after the lights came back on, he realized that she was his sister.Igaluk's sister Malina, who was very angry at him, cut off her breasts and threw them at him. Her brother then went looking for her, but he tripped and fell into the snow. His torch, which was still glowing, left a ember. The wind carried both of them up into the sky. Malina, who had her bright torch still shining, became the sun, while her brother, whose fading light was still visible, became the moon. The moon continued chasing his sister as she tried to avoid him, while the sun continued to rise.Igaluk is said to have had the characteristic features of an Inuit male before reaching the skies and transforming into the all powerful moon.Read more at https://mythlok.com/igaluk/
What's up to my bohemian barn swallows (one of Nancy Reagan's lesser known nicknames) and punctilious puss moths! (It's a moth named after a cat! I'm in love.) Welcome back to the BNP everyone and thank you for joining! To my patrons: you all are the prisms in my suncatcher and the tread of my bike tires - you are appreciated. I'd be slippin' all over the damn road without you. This episode is a fun one folks! We have extra tasty zany audio tidbits for your listening pleasure this week. You better like them because they took me forever. Topics include: the oft-overlooked Ecuadorian Incan ruin of Ingapirca, which features incredibly precise stone work without the use of mortar, and a spectacular Sun Temple overlooking the surrounding country. Ingapirca is a unique fusion of two ancient cultures- the Inca and the Cañari. Prior to Inca and Spanish conquest of the southern provinces of Ecuador, the most dominant Indigenous group in the region were the Cañari. The Cañari put up such strong resistance against Incan conquest in the 15th and early 16th centuries, they earned the respect of their adversaries, and Ingapirca is thus a duel temple in honor of both the Incan Sun God and the Cañari Moon God. Also featured this ep is a segment from a recent Yak Fest with Dr. Sylvie Salinger, where we talk about the price of diesel being off the chain despite the fact that the U.S. manufactures its own diesel. So you can't blame that on Putin. Almost like the ruling class is intentionally squeezing us. We also discuss how the U.S. is training ethno-nationalist white supremacists abroad while claiming to fight white supremacism at home. Nanna-Suen, also known under various other names, was the moon god of the Mesopotamians, and he was one of the few gods that ruled over multiple ancient civilizations such as the Sumerians, Akkadians, and Babylonians. Despite the rise of the moon cult in Ur during the third dynasty, which was founded by Naram Sin, Nanna was still popular throughout the history of Mesopotamia. He is the Mesopotamian god of the moon and wisdom. He is one of the oldest gods in the Mesopotamian pantheon and is first mentioned at the very dawn of writing in the region c. 3500 BCE.The widespread popularity of Nanna's name can be attributed to the numerous prayers and hymns that were sung about him. In addition, his name was frequently used in personal names throughout Mesopotamia. Despite Nanna's popularity, the attempt by the Neo-Babylonian king, who was known as Nabonidus, to place him at the head of the pantheon failed.Read the full article at https://mythlok.com/nanna-suen/
Character Corner - A Podcast on Your favorite Comic Book Characters
We're back with another Character Corner episode and this time we're talking about the character Moon Knight. Or should we say the characters Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley. Moon Knight is an interesting character to cover. First appearing in 1975 in Werewolf By Night, its pretty clear that early Moon Knight was Marvel's answer to DC's Batman. There's so many obvious comparisons. Early on in Moon Knight stories, Marc Spector wasn't suffering from mental illness. Rather his three personalities were actually cover aliases for him. Interestingly enough, all his aliases also seem to line up with aspects of Bruce Wayne. You have the Billionaire playboy Steven Grant. The highly skilled mercenary Marc Spector. Then there's the seedy Jake Lockley that is clearly based off of Matches Malone (who first appeared in 1972 in Batman comics). Then there's the Moon Knight concept itself. Dressed in all white (versus the all black of Batman), a hero of the night that looks at himself as the "spirit of vengeance" and taking out those criminals that prey on the weak. But then Marvel started to put some space between the characters by introducing Khonshu, the Moon God that took Marc Spector has his priest (or fist depending on how you look at it). Instead of some internal drive to make criminals fear him because of the murder of his parents, Spector is driven to fight crime because his God commands it. Or is it that he's just insane? Or both? Later comics definitely show that Khonshu is a very real (and petty and vengeful God). And it's Khonshu that has pretty much driven Marc insane. But it makes for a really interesting character and some very good comics to read (except for the Bendis run. Don't do that to yourselves). In Hindu astronomy, there was an older tradition of 28 Nakshatras which were used as celestial markers in the heavens. The first astronomical text that lists them is the Vedanga Jyotisha. In classical Hindu scriptures (Mahabharata, Harivamsa), the creation of the nakshatras is attributed to Daksha. They are personified as daughters of Daksha and as wives of Chandra known as the Moon God (who reluctantly married the 26 other nakshatras on Daksha's request even though he was only interested to marry Rohini), or alternatively the daughters of Kashyapa. This episode gives the details of Nakshatras and hindi months. #WhatAreNakshatras #NamesOfNakshatras #NamesOfHindiMonths --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/venus-jain3/message

A Mysterious She-wolf: https://www.bravonovel.com/a-mysterious-she-wolf-7276 A Mysterious She-wolf novel Synopsis: The biggest dream of every werewolf is meeting their mate. The incredible scent, the surreal sparks that lit up on every touch, the amazing firework feel on every kiss, the contented feeling while in the arms of their mate, the pride of wearing their mark and bearing their pup and above all the bliss of showering each other with unconditional love. Life of every werewolf is a blissful fantasy story. But every theory has few exceptions right? Obviously yes! This story revolves around such an exceptional she-wolf who had a strong reason to despise the idea of MATES. She wants to live like independent humans. She never wanted a random man showing up in her life out of nowhere in the name of 'Mate' and dragging her out of what she built all her life. Her idea of a life partner filled with love, not with mate bond. She has her goal and she wanted to fulfil it in her own way without any compromises. But that doesn't stop the mighty Moon God to bless her with an irresistible mate. Learning from our past mistakes is a good thing. But all the decisions out of such learning need not be correct! Some mistakes will make us happy. Some mistakes lead us to the thing which we have been dying to get. Will she commit the mistake that could fulfil her wishes or will she stick to her decisions to write the pages of her own life which has more mysteries than she could ever imagine? Christian apologists as well as New Agers routinely make (and repeat) the claim that “allah” (Arabic for God) means a moon god. Many years ago, when my son was about two years old, I used to carry him around on my shoulders and attempt to teach him important things about life. One night I pointed to the bright, full moon and told him, “God made the Moon.” In his small, new voice he would repeat, “God bade boon?!” I thought that what he said was priceless, and I would prompt him to say it to others by asking him, “Who made the Moon?” “God bade boon!” he would respond with full assurance. The ”solemn sacrifice” was a sacrificial rite conducted by the Incas on the order of the Incan emperor to celebrate important events in the emperor's life or to prevent natural disasters. It was a human sacrifice done with the intention of sending humanity’s best to join their deities. To ensure that the souls given were pure, children were typically used for this purpose. Until the sacrifice would take place the chosen children were fed well to ensure they would be happy when the time came. During the sacrifice they were dressed in royal clothes and paraded around the four statues depicting the Creator, the Sun God, the Moon God and the Thunder God. The murder was done by a blow to the skull, strangulation or by making them intoxicated and then leaving them to lose consciousness on a mountaintop where the cold and low oxygen conditions would lead to death by hypothermia. Hi there, I’m Jack and I’m Raminta and welcome back to Lithuanian Out Loud where we offer the world the Lithuanian language. According to the free encyclopedia, Wikipedia, Šiauliai is the home to the Hill of Crosses or Kryžių kalnas. Beginning around 1831 people started leaving crosses on the hill. During the Soviet Occupation of Lithuania between 1944 and 1990 the Russians bulldozed the hill three times but the crosses, crucifixes, carvings of national heros, effigies and rosaries were rebuilt. There are no official rules regarding the hill so anyone who wishes can leave an object of their choosing. Oh, did you know, that we, I think it was 19…1985 when my grandmother, my father and me drove to the Hill Cross of Šiauliai and left a cross and my father was digging and my grandma…and I was playing there and we were kind of…fast, fast, fast, that nobody would see. Why? Oh, you had to go fast because of the Soviets. Right somebody can, you know, you can get into trouble. Ah, so it was at night or during the day? At day, at day, people - it was there, like you know, it was destroyed but then again people would do that. And they really didn’t want that somebody would see and then it would be really bad with their job and everything, you know so you wanted to be fast. Oh, that’s a cool story, I didn’t know. Thank you. In Lithuania, the first day of the week is Monday or pirmadienis. Lithuanians and the English have very different methods of naming the days of the week. In English the days of the week are capitalized, in Lithuanian you don’t generally do that unless the day of the week is the first word in a sentence. Just to demonstrate how different the names of the days of the week are in these two cultures, let’s run through the English system… Sunday comes from the Germanic Sun-nan-dag – a day to worship the Sun God.Monday comes from the Germanic Moh-nan-dag – a day to worship the Moon God.Tuesday comes from the Germanic Tee-wes-dag a day to worship Tyr, the god of combat and heroic glory.Wednesday is named for wohd-nes-dag or wohd-nes-dye, the day of the Germanic god Woden or Odin.Thursday is named for thoon-res-dag, the day to worship the thundergod Thor.Friday is named for free-ye-dag, the day of Frige, the Germanic goddess of beauty,Saturday is named for the Roman god of Saturn. In Lithuanian, basically, we say first-day, second-day, third-day, etcetera. Let’s learn how to say, first, second, third – all days of the week are masculine. first pirmassecond antrasthird trečiasfourth ketvirtasfifth penktassixth šeštasseventh septintaseighth aštuntasninth devintastenth dešimtas The Lithuanian word for day is, diena, which is feminine. Of course, we’ve used this in the phrase, laba diena. Now, let’s go over the days of the week. Monday pirmadienis (sunki diena - hard day)Tuesday antradienisWednesday trečiadienisThursday ketvirtadienisFriday penktadienisSaturday šeštadienis So, Raminta, before we do the last day, Sunday, if it follows this pattern, this day must be called septintadienis, right? Oh well, what are you going to do? Okay, so Sunday diverts from this system just a little. Sunday sekmadienis Šaunu! Great! You made it to the end of another episode! Šaunu!Alright!
