To kick things off, we're easing you into the groove with Birdee & Dr Packer's sultry number, "You Know I'm Ready." But wait, we're only warming up here. Ah, nostalgia, that sweet elixir! We've decided to bring back "Good Life" by Inner City—a timeless classic from 1989 that's still making waves in the House Music scene. It's almost like this golden oldie was destined to coexist with today's sonic landscape. So we took the origina, punched it up, and slid it right into the set. Isn't it fascinating how some anthems never lose their charm? They seamlessly meld into the fabric of contemporary Funky House Music. Just when you think you can catch your breath, we're turning up the heat. Cue the high-octane "Move That Body" by dance music legends Danny Tenaglia & Cevin Fisher. This thumping track signals a gear shift into the Big Room House realm. But don't get too comfy—some of these bangers wear the Tech House tag, a genre that's veering more toward the euphoric, peak-hour vibes we cherished in the '90s, yet it's unmistakably rooted in modern House Music. Speaking of which, let's talk about "Jealous" by Mochakk, a track that revives the iconic monologue from Loleatta Holloway's #1 Disco hit "Dreamin'." Holloway's legendary adlibs breathe life into this contemporary banger, making it an instant classic. Trust us, it's pure gold! And oh, have you heard "I Wanna Be Your Lover" by Mark Knight, Sgt Slick & Beverley Knight? It's an audacious take on Prince's 1980 hit, a song that they've rejuvenated while paying the ultimate homage. Beverley Knight's vocal finesse is just the icing on this groovy cake. Then we have Purple Disco Machine putting his unique spin on the 2001 Eurodance gem, "King of My Castle" by Wamdue Project. Trust him to take something already great and elevate it, wrapping it in his signature Funky House Music vibes while preserving the essence of the original. It's not just a remix; it's a transformation. But that's not all. Wedged between these standout tracks are other gems that are bound to make your Labor Day weekend an absolute sonic feast. Whether you're a Funky House Music aficionado or just dipping your toes in, this set promises something for everyone. “Hire the help.” - Tiffany Hill I'm so excited to have Launch Your Box member Tiffany Hill of Queen of My Castle Designs join me for today's episode to share her journey from Registered Nurse to successful subscription box owner. A dedicated RN, Tiffany started painting door hangers as a hobby more than a decade ago. What started as something to satisfy her crafty side grew into a business that allowed her to work less hours as a nurse and spend more time at home with her husband and their three sons. Earlier this year, Tiffany made the decision to retire from nursing altogether and focus solely on her family and her business. Tiffany has two digital teaching subscriptions and an Etsy shop where she sells one-off products, but it was her monthly door hanger subscription that gave her the confidence and peace of mind to “retire” from nursing, and never look back. Handmade subscription boxes like Tiffany's come with their own set of challenges. Planning for her launch, Tiffany decided to limit the number of subscribers to 30 because she wanted to make sure she didn't outsell what she was capable of making. When those spots sold out in mere hours, Tiffany had not only launched strong, she had also created scarcity, exclusivity, and urgency. There were a lot more than 30 members of her audience who wanted to join her door hanger of the month subscription. Tiffany knew the only way she could grow and scale her business was by hiring help. She hired carefully and well, slowly building a small team who is as dedicated to producing quality products as she is. With careful planning and the help of her amazing team, Tiffany's monthly subscription has grown steadily to where it is now at 175 subscribers. Join me for this episode as Tiffany shares what she learned as she grew her Door Hanger of the Month subscription and why growing and scaling a handmade business is not possible without building a team. 2021 NYD Are You Ready for 2021? (RE-UPLOAD!!!) Well starting the year splendidly.. Uploaded the wrong track file.. Sorry you have to delete the episode and Itunes will do the rest.. NYD party set, straight out of the live mixer, full of original edits and mashups. If you do not dance and sing along, well, we are from different tribes. Between House and Balearic Trance, in that sweet space we call “Trouse”. No post-production, therefore at times levels are a bit in the red but it was a fun battle. Party Favorz is concluding the Ultimate Eurodance Collection with volume 4 featuring many of the break-neck speed tracks that clock in at 140 BPM or higher. Granted, it doesn't start off that way as Ann Lee's "2 Times" kicks things off at a much slower 130 BPM. Though thE song was a major worldwide hit, it wasn't on the dancefloor. In fact, it came out around the same time Wamdue Project's "King of My Castle" peaked at #1 on the club charts. Both of these songs were fine when people were filing into the club but drop them later in the evening and they were guaranteed to clear the floor. Still, "2 Times" makes most Top 50 Eurodance lists, thus its inclusion. On the other hand, Pure Sugar's "Delicious" was a funky house tune that sampled A Taste of Honey's disco classic "Boogie Oogie Oogie" making for a crowd-pleasing floor filler even if it wasn't a massive hit and not really Eurodance. From there, we get into the thick of Eurodance with novelties like "Cotton Eye Joe," "Male Stripper," (which was recently sampled in Purple Disco Machine's "Dished (Male Stripper)," "Boom Boom (Let's Go Back To My Room)," "Jump," Listen To Your Heart" (rework of the Roxette ballad), "What Hurts the Most" (rework of the chart-topping country Rascal Flatts track), "Heaven" (rework of the Bryan Adams rock ballad), and "What's Up" (remixed version of the 4 Non Blondes rock anthem) — a personal favorite no matter which version. La Bouche's "Be My Lover" and "Sweet Dreams" were a German Eurodance group that had a lot of success with American Melanie Thornton on lead vocals. She also sang the lead vocals for Le Click's "Tonight Is the Night," which lead to confusion because both groups sounded the same. Though, the follow-up single "Call Me" had vocals by Swedish singer Kayo Shekoni. Bass Hunter's "Now You're Gone" was the last big hit of the Hard Dance movement, which sprung from Eurodance in 2006 but it was the more commercial-friendly electro-house remix by Fonzerelli that pushed it to the top. The original Eurostyle mix is included here. After listening to this set multiple times — It dawned on me that the intro riff for Real McCoy's "Another Night" is the total basis for September's massive early millennium hit "Cry For You." There is no mistaking that the group completely ripped it off from "Another Night." Granted, Real McCoy only uses that riff at the beginning and in the middle of "Another Night" but it's still theirs. Considering that these two track were years apart — I think the sampling is undeniable. Finally, this set concludes with the massive "Beautiful Life" by Sweden's Ace of Base. After the worldwide success of their debut album with hits like "All That She Wants" and "The Sign" the group changed directions and Eurodance appeared to be a natural fit for them. It is also a personal favorite. CALL ME WHEN SOMETHING'S WRONG To borrow a phrase from one of the tracks above — it was recently brought to my attention that some episodes were missing. I've since discovered even more and will be spending some time today and tomorrow going through all 800+ episodes to ensure they're still in tact and/or re-adding them if not. This likely occurred when I had to restore my site from a major bug that resulted from one of my plugin updates that didn't play nice with the theme. The developer has now resolved it. Frankly, that shouldn't have happened because that's why I pay for full site backups but I digress. It's up to you folks to let me know if something is wrong. I have also been tweaking the overall theme and fixing some coding issues that have been bugging me for a while. Since everything is moving to mobile, it's imperative that I correct these minor flaws in design. You may experience some slow down or reconfiguration on the site for the next couple of days. Just know that's me working to make things better but everything should still work. You can always use the Podbean app available in the App Store or Play S...

Free Your Mind On the chilled, progressive and tech side of Deep House. I suggest grabbing a book or setting yourself on a task and let the music take you through its ebbs and flows. “Free Your Mind” is a nice chilled cerebral journey with a thinly disguised oniric dimension. The best I can describe it is: “ this is a nice little tight package”. It took a while to get the level of consistency I felt it deserved but I finally achieved telling the musical story I wanted to share. It may not be perfect but from my point of view, it has a lot of internal logic. There are many original tunes in the set, which like the “I Wish You Were Here” previous mix are from producers and artists I did not know before. I entice you to grab a decent pair of headphones or listen on a good Hi-FI system. The production, mastering and layering of all those tracks is simply superb. Free Your Mind and take the jounrey.. Playlist: Intro It's a Dream (Reality Mix). Alexander Metzger If Your Girl Only Knew (Nikos Kalogerias & Panos Str Soundcloud Remix) [Xtian The Aura Edit feat. Todd Williams]. Nikos Kalogerias feat. DJ Phenix Highlights: I chose to headline the set with this soundcloud remix of Aaliiyah's “If Your Girl Only Knew” from Nikos Kalogerias a DJ from Zakyntos (Greece) to give him a shout. https://soundcloud.com/dj-nikos-kalogerias Check his soundcloud page. Nikos gets his talented fingers on big tunes and the result is ALWAYS high quality. “You’re so High” fitted perfectly in the “Free Your Mind” spirit, I love the vocalist and have discovered Ellis & Fur. I will be following them from now on. “Bakerboy” from Gunjah great chilled deep track with an amazing production, inspired pads and begging for a mash-up with Buena Vista Park.. Please someone out there with talent pick it up and do it! “I Want It” a cookie french little number which reminds me of a nursery rhyme fititng snuggly in the oniric dimension of the set. Listen to the driving bassline and the superb production. "Out of Reach" Jody Wisternoff feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn. I have sat on this track for almost a year. I think the main reason for the delay was the fact that I knew Mendelsohn from "King of My Castle" fame and expected another anthem track.. But the atmosphere of the track, the clinical beats, the ever present synth pads and the overlayed melodies should have made me realize this track is well worth a listen by a wider audience.. "Fading Nights" Parra for Cuva feat Anna Naklab ..Whoah.. distorted bassline, clever beats, multi-layered production. Not sure if I know if this is house, indie even maybe trance. But I know you needs immense talent to produce such a complex track with no real melody and pass my melodic centric internal test.. "Micro Man" from Jelly for The Babies.. Instrumental deep and progressive gem, which may not have needed the Xtian vocal edit.. but you have to admit it was begging.. "I Wish You Were Here" from John Creamer, Stephane K, John Creamer & Stephane K feat. Nkemdi.. Just the credit reads like the House Hall of Fame.. John creamer AND Stephane K!!! I have used this tune in a previous mix but I LOVE this remix, deep but bouncy with a discrete key riff which sweetens what is effectively a techie number and those bongoes in the background.. Pure Inspiration! Not even mentioning the chill out rainforest sample driving into the break.. House heaven as commented on my podcast.. "Sunrise Collective" from Appa Glas.. another indie/prog tunes with a bouncy house undertone.. The tempo of the set was picking up and those two cuts dropped like they were jsut made to be there.. Ebbs and Flows.. exactly what I was looking for.. Again amazing production and massive bassline.. This is clever house at its very best.. "The Monster" from SourDen feat Veela. Is it Trip House or is it Trance? I have no idea but but perfectely fitted for this foray.. Complex track with no defined melody and every oniric journey needs a "Monster".. "The Nighttime" from Manu Riga is the point in the set when I crossed the rubicon and went into Trance.. ( I so want to do a new trance set but can't find enough new quality tunes").. I love this kind of Trance and if you call it Progressive House well let me dream and call it Trouse.. Trippin’ from Redondo... One of the three gems of this set. DO NOT MISS IT! You all know the original but this is a tease track and any DJ worth his salt should have it in its bag.. Any set could start with this and take the punters straight into stratosphere.. let alone that Trippin' and a "Free Your Mind" set were a a no brainer.. ( thank you the added categories Cour and Subtext..). Finally "Free Your Mind" from Eli and Fur. Believe it or not the track came as an after thought.. I had used the splinter in your mind and aura samples and then thought to add the second Ellis and Fur track once I had chopped the original mix and had another 5 minutes to go.. A deep and progressive little number so logical as and end tune and still with magnificient production. OK enough.. I visibly like this one.. I hope you will as well.. Enjoy. Next one hopefully a happy trancy trouse one.. Xtian P.S.: I will go on a little tangent reflecting on the creative process, answering a message from Umich Iasking me how do I select tunes for a set. I actually have no idea how others do it but here is the sequence of my not-so-creative process. All my music collection is categorized between genres and sub-genres, then sorted by keys and bpm. Nothing unusual! The one thing I do, which others may not is to I include 2 extra categories: - One is “Colour” … do not ask me how I chose and what I mean for I could not articulate it but I will say that the tunes you hear in “Free Your Mind” were in the dark blue category. - The other category is “Subtext”, which is what the vocals tune are about ( Political, Love. Happiness, Sex, etc..) or if instrumental track how it makes me feel. This set Subtext was Sadness and Mind. Once I have decided on a soundscape (for this one I wanted dark, brainy), I make a simple query with tight constraints (usually no more than 8 bpm difference, sometimes only 3 to 4 harmonized keys and a “date added” constraints to keep the set current and a rating of 4 to 5. I lthen peruse the results of the query, keep 18/20 tracks and try to build in my head a start, core and end. This structure I owe to my Gallic schooling upbringing The French education system is very, very big on writing plans.. Execution is not quite as much of a focus! The first draft is done in one go on Traktor. I just get into it and mix for 2 hours. This one took 4 versions for I deleted some tunes which were too “happy” and played around with the order to achieve maximum consistency. The rest is just “tweaking and adding effects. If anyone is interested what you are listening to is V.4z (most of the edits to cut it down to a CD format).. I usually do not allow myself to go beyond z.. If I need the Greek alphabet for the set to be uploadable, it is time to shelve it to the dark recesses of my HD! Here is your answer UMich!

Plug It In & Turn Me On (Pt.2) aka "Denise's Birthday Treat". Denise: I do hope you like the "treat"... I know I am late but it took a while to get it right.. Furthermore good luck on your new adventure.. Picking up where I left it with Part 1. Funky Sexy House & Trouse. Put on your dancing shoes, drop your inhibitions and let yourselves go. Current House/Trouse with a couple of oldies. A Xtian original with the "Yak Yaak Boom" edit of King of My Castle (my first GarageBand venture so be kind..). A set mainly for the younger generation but who knows... Mixed without proper gear , still I dare you not to have your feet urging for a dance once you get 30 mins in this probably Cheesy but effective set. Nadia Ali 2011 Take Over Control (Spencer & Hill Mix). Afrojack feat. Eva Simons Outro We Love House Accapella Dave Floyd & Pookie Highlights: looking at the playlist, it seems I went on another Nadia Ali bender... Guilty as charged I love her voice.. The Avicii remix of "Rapture" is really a great uplifting take. "Call My Name" new track from Ms. Ali shows again what a great vocalist and songwriter she is. Somehow I fitted in Lady Gaga ( I did Rihanna in the Pt.1) and the Dave Aude remix is actually surprisingly good. "Fantasy" is there because for once I found a way to mix in a 135 bpm track and the Tritonal Remix is a smasher. I will return to Traktor next mix. Finally back to a decent set-up! My foray in funky House/Trouse is over for now... Back to Deep & Soulful.. Music my old bones can actually relate to. And no more titillating covers for a while.. Promise!
I Had a request from Viv (my wife !!) to do a fun, " hands up in the air", vocal trance/house mix for her and the kids. Here it is! Highlights are: Forever and a Day, massive tune from Fragma, and King of My Castle 2009 (what a remix!). I tried very hard to mix moroder style Donna Summer & Hey Hey Riva Starr (be kind) So handbags down on the ground, circle up and starts dancing.. This one is unashamedly vocal, commercial, discofied.. Yet, you'll find some gems such as the new Moroder style remix of Hey Hey and as ordered, it includes Viv's current favourite: Cheryl Cole's "3 Words"... And yes I Love You... too ;=) Playlist Bruised Water (Adam K & Soha Club Mix) Chicane I Will Be Here (Wolfgang Gartner Remix) Tiësto & Sneaky Sound System When Love Takes Over (Norman Doray & Arno Cost Remix) David Guetta ft Kelly Rowland Deep At Night (Adam K & Soha Remix) Ercola vs. Heikki L Xtian edit w/Its So Easy Loveappella DJ Spen & the Muthafunkaz Forever And A Day (Christian Weber Remix) Fragma King Of My Castle 2009 (Dex Diamond Vocal Mix) Wamdue Project Feat.
