In her late teens, Nancy's father was diagnosed with leukemia. As someone who witnessed firsthand the devastating emotional and financial impact on both individuals and families that being disabled and filing for benefits can have, Nancy is not just an attorney, but an empathetic presence who understands what claimants are going through. She represents people across the United States in getting their Social Security and Long-Term Disability benefits. Nancy has spent her career working tirelessly on behalf of Americans who have not received fair treatment or promised benefits. In doing so, she has written many consumer-friendly guides to disability, including The Disability Insurance Claim Survival Guide for Professionals and Your Rights to Social Security Disability Benefits. She is a National Organization of Social Security Claims Representatives (NOSSCR) member. While she has a nationwide practice, she is licensed in Florida and the District of Columbia I had the opportunity to ask Nancy numerous questions regarding Social Security disability, and she was incredibly helpful throughout. Her answers were thorough, and clear, and demonstrated a deep understanding of the subject. She was patient and attentive, making sure all my concerns were addressed. Nancy's assistance truly made a complex topic much easier to navigate. Click here to see Alex's detailed spreadsheet outlining our contenders. The Rules: For each quad, pick the number of gymnasts based on the rules at that time (e.g. the Sydney format is 6-5-4, Athens is 6-3-3, London is 5-3-3, Tokyo is 4-3-3 + 2 individuals) If you are too heartbroken to leave an athlete at home, you can name 2 travelling alternates. You can even name two non-travelling alternates if you must With all of the best gymnasts from the quad competing at their quad-level peak with no injuries, burnout, and retirements, who do you pick? An increasing number of states are enacting policies hostile to LGBTQ youth, like book bans and restrictions on participation in sports. Even in states like New York where there is greater state-level support for LGBTQ rights, similar policies aimed at stifling those rights have emerged at the local level. Amy Leipziger (Project Director, Free to Be Youth Project), Ashton Hessee (Legal Fellow, Free to Be Youth Project) and Gabriella Larios (Staff Attorney, NYCLU) of the City Bar's LGBTQ Rights Committee unpack the damage to psychological and physical health that these bans and the anti-LGBTQ culture that they promote can have on LGBTQ youth – kids who are navigating the same developmental challenges as their peers while being saddled with these additional burdens. Amy, Ashton and Gabriella also speak to how queer and trans youth – and their parents and caregivers – can understand their rights and understand how to advocate for their rights in school. All three share stories from the frontlines of litigating against these bans, and share insights on the most effective strategies for pairing litigation with grassroots community organizing. Welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 74 and we are glad to be back with you guys after another week off. We know you guys needed a break from us so you got it. We do want to start off by thanking our guest from last episode, our Aunt Thelma the author of the book Understandin Better, By and By. Thank you for joining us. We start this weeks episode off with some talk about the Mandalorian Season Three. It was great but I am so sad to see it end. Just when it was starting to get good it ended. I love Disney but they seem to do this a lot with there shows. They stick with 6-8 episodes and right when they start getting good they end and we as customers end up having to wait a year to a year and a half for the next season. That sucks for me but I love the show so much I'll be waiting patiently. Cathy and I received a gift from our nephew Jason and his Father at The Glass Guys in Sandusky, Ohio (419)625-2500. It is a beautiful glass mirror that lights up with the 50Talk emblem on it. Thank you both the the gift and we want everyone to look up The Glass Guys on the internet and check out there stuff. If I could give all our listeners this item I would, that's just how cool it it. Check out our 50Talk Facebook Page and our personal page for pictures and videos. Of course we will be adding more in the future as well. Next we talk about all these "random shooting" that have been happening around our great country. Is this what the summer of 2023 is gonna be like? Is this the new George Floyd of 2023? This is already getting out of control and we Need Gun Control! Thank you Washington State for being the 10th State to make AR15's illegal to purchase. No one not in the military needs this weapon. I agree with "Your Rights to bear Arms' but not AR15's. I'm sorry if that makes you mad but the Constitution needs an Update. Cathy gives us all a thought provoking situation, that personally gave me the chill. On the show and when she introduced the segment to me before the show. When do black and brown skin become a threat to You? Please, if you want to add more to this conversation send me an email at victor50talk@gmail.com We would love to continue this conversation. After the show my youngest son said "that I am an Angry guy". Maybe I am but it's all love. It comes from a good place in my heart. We hope you enjoy the show this week and please join us next week for Episode 75. See you all next week and start planning some time to join us for our next Live Episode with our new 50Talk Mirror Light.
We all know the story. After worshipping at the altar of "lean" for decades, we spent two years wondering where all the toilet paper and pickup trucks went. Covid reminded us that too much efficiency could be colossally inefficient, slack was back, hooray. Then you tried to board that Southwest flight a couple months ago and you realized the germ-like aversion to slack had taken root far beyond the manufacturing sector. In this episode, we discuss how keeping "slack in the system" in all aspects of our lives helps us stay happy, productive, and safe from the horrifying dystopia foretold by Garfield In Paradise. Since I moved to Colorado 9 years ago, I've been extremely vocal about how different mental healthcare is here. And not in a good way. Moving to Northern Colorado has given me hope - but only for Northern Colorado. Denver and the surrounding areas are still light years behind where things need to be. In the conversations. In the education. In the services they provide. A recent Douglas County Elementary School made headlines - for alllll the wrong reasons, as indicated by this title: “DougCo elementary school uses excessive restraint on second-grader” On today's episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I discuss YOUR RIGHTS. I discuss services that are available to your children, although they're not advertised or offered. I discuss when and how you need to become involved. These are YOUR children. No decision should be made without your input, and theirs for that matter. I discuss the importance of having an advocate who is NOT part of the school staff. I discuss it all - because there IS support available. And you deserve it. Your kids deserve it! ===================================================================================================================== Come join Team Ruthless and find Your Support – Your way Connect with me at sam@samantharuth.com! Please help me share Griefhab with the world. With someone struggling. With someone who works with people struggling. And remember, asking questions and having conversations is always encouraged!

A Speech Pathologist and a breast-turned-bottle-feeding mom shares her professional and personal views on why bottle-feeding isn't as simple as "stick a bottle in their mouth" and what you can do to create the best bottle-feeding experience for you and your baby. 026 | Mallory Millett of The Feeding Mom The stigma surrounding bottle-feeding can feel intimidating. Many mothers are belittled on their decision to choose a bottle over the breast, even when it's one they may have no choice but to make. But the bottle isn't a wrong way to feed your baby. I chat with a speech-language pathologist and bottle-feeding advocate, Mallory Millet, about how backing the bottle is as healthy and beneficial as supporting the breast. Mallory shares her experiences about why choosing one over the other shouldn't matter. When it comes to you and your baby's health, there is more than one way to parent. About Mallory Mallory Millet is a Speech-Language Pathologist by trade. She's also an Infant Feeding Specialist. She found her passion in working with moms with babies with feeding issues ranging from oral motor development, reflux, bottle choice, positioning, schedules, etc. If you are a mom struggling with feeding or a new mom and have questions or want to be prepared, please reach out to her for support.
