Did you know Mary Magdalene has writings? Yeah. The Gospel of Mary.I'm going to share the crazy story of why it took almost 60 years for it to be published once it was discovered.I'm going to share just 3 of the things in this text that drop bombs all over modern theology and belief systems. They upend power structures, and call into question major assumptions whole swaths of people hold. Ready? Let's Go!Books I mention:I reference Meggan Watterson's book several times, it is called "Mary Madalene Revealed: The First Apostle, Her Feminist Gospel and the Christianity We Haven't Tried Yet"I also reference the Nag Hammadi, the version of that I own is "The Nag Hammadi Library Revised Edition: The Definitive new translation of the Gnostic scriptures, complete in one volume" edited by James M Robison (this is from the 1990's, I'm sure you can find a more updated version).Contact me or Join my Stuff Here:Behind the Veil: Secrets of the TowerJoin the Peek Behind the Veil email list here!Experience an exclusive and private initiation into the herstory of Tower Priestesses. When you get on the bus, do you think about the driver behind the wheel? If you rode the 8 bus recently, your driver might have been Desiree Andersen, otherwise known as @desinthepark. During her more than two years driving, she also went to grad school for social work. That helped give her extra insight into the needs of the people she drives. And she shared those insights on TikTok, where she started posting during a break between driving shifts. But Andersen is now shifting gears. This month, she left her job at King County Metro. We talked with her about what's next. Thank you to the supporters of KUOW, you help make this show possible! Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! Greek & Roman Mythology Retold
Liv speaks with returning guest CW Marshall about ancient Greek Theatre! Toph goes through the culture of it all, the festivals, the winners and losers, how and why a play gets made, and who pulls the strings... Plus, Euripides is the best, as always. Help keep LTAMB going by subscribing to Liv's Patreon for bonus content! CW/TW: far too many Greek myths involve assault. Given it's fiction, and typically involves gods and/or monsters, I'm not as deferential as I would be were I referencing the real thing.
