48: Even the past is new again… After a quick lightning round, we look at the past. Or at least alternative pasts. First, we discuss Nixon and Crooked by AUSTIN GROSSMAN. (We might even have a political discussion!) Then, we follow Peter Pan to World War II with Peter Panzerfaust written by KURTIS J WIEBE. Finally, we end with the Grrr and the Arrrgh.

Graphic Novice attempts to connect with a new demographic this episode, and as a result, our explicit rating gets a bit more explicit than usual. The big comic news of the day is DC raising the price of individual Batman issues to $4.99 during the upcoming Endgame arc. We spend a considerable amount of time talking about comic pricing, and a little bit of time discussing Wolverine's pre-mature death in Nightcrawler #7. In "Rapid-Fire Review" we look at Crossed Badlands #62, Batman Eternal #26, Detective Comics #35, Gotham Academy #1, Grayson #3, Cutter #1, Nailbiter #6, Peter Panzerfaust #21, Protectors Inc. #9, Alex + Ada #9, The Fade Out #2, Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #1, Captain America #25, Death of Wolverine #3 (of 4), Moon Knight #8, Silver Surfer #6, Thor #1, Uncanny Avengers #25, X-Men #20, Sally of the Wasteland #3, and Armor Hunters Aftermath #1. After choosing our best and worst books of the week, Doc explains why he is abandoning the Plus/Minus system he proposed a few episodes back. We wrap things up with a quick look at the books we'll be checking out after their October 8, 2014 release date. A certain guest editor put this episode together after a night of drinking, so if it sounds a bit off, dont worry, we think our regular editor, VF, will take the reigns back after he hears it. Thanks for listening!
Sam and JP talk with Kurtis Wiebe, writer of Rat Queens, Peter Panzerfaust, The Intrepids, and Green Wake. Hilarity, of course, ensues. Into music: "French Kiss" by Mrs. Howl http://mrshowl.bandcamp.com/ http://www.reverbnation.com/mrshowl
The guys welcome back Chris Callahan, creator of RoboChuck, to talk about his SDCC experience and the release of the 3rd installment of his comic series. After the break, Travis spins a yarn about his experience in a rest stop bathroom. The show wraps up with Spend Dev's Money featuring the trades Peter Panzerfaust, Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, and Planet Hulk.
Things get started out with Doc and VF’s attempt to get to the bottom of Nickel’s curious twitter activity leading up to Episode 30. Grease-stained pants almost bring an end to a 7-year relationship, Doc goes camping, and VF discovers the internets and re-kindles his love of He-Man, and after all that gets discussed in detail, we eventually discuss comics. If you want to know why Graphic Novice never has guests from the comic book industry, listen to the comic news segment preceding Rapid-Fire Review. After alienating more listeners and potential listeners, the guys discuss Batman and Robin 34, Batman Eternal #20, Teen Titans #2, Dark Engine #2, The Fade Out #1, Manifest Destiny #9, Peter Panzerfaust #20, Protectors Inc. #8, Supreme Blue Rose #2, Trees #4, The Wicked + The Divine #3, All-New X-Factor #12, Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu #4, Magneto #8, New Avengers #23, Nova #20, Storm #2, and Grimm Fairly Tales Presents Robyn Hood #1. The rest of the show segments get postponed due to time, and Doc promises to add some articles to the GraphicNovice.com website. The show wraps up with a summary of the books we’ll be reading from the August 27, 2014 release date. We get in under 2.5 hours in what might be our last episode prior to some sweeping format changes. Spoiler: We’re not actually going to change anything.
In this episode, we talk to Kurtis J. Wiebe, the writer of Rat Queens and Peter Panzerfaust. We got to talk to him a couple of days before the birth of his daughter Willow. Congrats, brother!
Doc, VF and Nickel all take a quick break from their jovial Canada Day celebrations to sit down and talk comics. The episode starts out with some hockey talk, tales from camping, and a quick Musings of a Geek podcast network update, before unrapidly proceeding to the inappropriately named "Rapid-Fire Review" segment. In this episode, the guys at Graphic Novice look at Crossed Badlands #56, All-Star Western #32, Batman #32, Batman Eternal #12, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic #20, Deadly Class #6, Fuse #5, Outcast #1, Peter Panzerfaust #19, Saga #20, Trees #2, Undertow #5, Amazing Spider-Man #3, Guardians of the Galaxy #16, New Avengers #20, Uncanny Avengers #21, Wolverine #9, and X-Force #6. Doc sneaks in a review of Revenge #1-4, and there is some brief discussions on Grayson #1, Image comics, and some uninformed but short debate on the future of single issue comics rightt before the guys look at the books coming out July 2 and say their goodbyes. Happy Canada Day and have a great 4th.

As we approach the end of the year the Nine Panel gang has started to think about the year in comics. What we have found is that by an overwhelming majority the bulk of the books we talk about are Marvel. Is this a good thing? Only the Nine Panel Awards will tell. This week is no different however as the gang discusses the continuation of the Marvel events, the start of the next Thor God of Thunder arc and Daredevil's continuing battle against bigotry. We also talk about some other titles that you may be missing out on like X-Files Season 10 & Peter Panzerfaust. Cor, it's Parlour time again guys! Welcome to the 14th installment of Stacey's Pop Culture Parlour, this month featuring web comic-ist extraordinnaire and all-round tip-top bloke, Luke Foster! Luke joins Stacey just weeks before swanning off on an adventure around America, so expect an almost tangible sense of envy wafting around this episode... As well as discussing Luke's impending exciting adventures, the pair also ruminate on whether S4 of Community is actually any good, whether Guardians of the Galaxy is worth investigating prior to the film release, why Stacey is scared of Doctor Who re-starting, and why her sister shouldn't call her first-born son Freddie... All this, plus reviews of Babble, Oz The Great and Powerful, Peter Panzerfaust and much much more! Hope y'all dig! Episode Theme - 'It's Getting Boring By The Sea' by Blood Red Shoes End Theme - 'I'm Your Boogie Man' by KC & The Sunshine Band PS. I'd like to apologise in advance for using the term 'female actresses'. I mean, really?! PPS. Happy chocolate-egg-eating weekend! Woot, sugar!
