Join my husband and I as we go through the entire Bible in a year, in conjunction with the Bible Discovery Guide and The Daily Show. This weekend we answer some of the big questions and viewer questions concerning Ephesians 3-6, Philippians, Colossians, and 1 Thessalonians 1-3. If you want to know your Bible better, then this is a great place to help deepen your big picture understanding.
If we had a nickle for every time someone told us that no one would argue in favor of slavery today, we'd be half rich. Good people often make the mistake of believing that if "you" can't think like that no-one else would either. Nah bruh. Let us tell you something. On this front line we've heard pro-slavery arguments from state reps and influencers all across this country. In Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, Vermont, New jersey, Oregon, California, and more. We're talking unbudging, shameless, hard core, feet planted firmly, arguments of all sorts. With nary a care that it was all said out loud in public. We've heard it and counter-argued in person as public testimony. We've heard it on zoom meetings of official congressional and senate hearings, and we've heard it from people with mass media platforms that reach millions. As a matter of fact, for this Sunday's episode of Abolition Today we will present the 2023 pro-slavery perspective. Because there is one and it's hella loud and hella influential. The next time you hear someone say nobody would argue in favor of keeping slavery legal, tell them Abolition Today said YES, they have, and they will.

Dan continues our series 'How (not) to read the Bible'
For some, the Bible has lost credibility as a book full of outdated commands that may even border on immoral. Chief among the charges brought against Scripture is its seeming endorsement of slavery. Are we missing something or does the Bible seem cool with it? How should Christians handle this tricky topic, and what's really going on in the text? Is Christianity GOOD? Many people in our culture today seem to care less about whether or not Christianity is true, and more about the morality of what it teaches. They say the Bible promotes racism, slavery, sexism, and other forms of social injustice. But are any of those statements true? In his new book, More Than a White Man's Religion, speaker and global apologist Abdu Murray challenges the pervasive myth that Christianity is an oppressive Western religion and shows believers (and skeptics!) that the gospel message is actually THE SOURCE for the cherished Western ideals of racial and gender equality. Frank and Abdu discuss women in the church, slavery, racism, and how the Bible passages cited by skeptics can only be understood properly when examined in their context (not in memes). When they are, we see that the Bible champions that ALL people are made in God's Image, and the skeptic's charges are false. Abdu also shares how his experience working with RZIM (Ravi Zacharias International Ministries) impacted the content of his book and the importance of looking to Jesus as the (one and only) perfect example of how to treat others--especially when Christians fail to live up to our own ideals. To view the entire VIDEO PODCAST and an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Abdu about his journey out of Islam and into Christianity, be sure to join our CrossExamined private community. It's the perfect place to jump into some great discussions with like-minded Christians without fear of being canceled by your friends, family, co-workers, or boss! The Bible is ultimately a story that points us to Jesus -- not just individual verses we cherry pick. Entry point: Is the Bible Pro-Slavery?
A Christian is somebody who follows the teachings of god. God is pro-abortion and pro slavery.
Welcome to The Weird Episode of The Apologetics Podcast! “Wait a minute!” some of you are already saying. “Isn't every episode of The Apologetics Podcast weird? I mean, just this season, they've already featured a phoenix, a magical veil, a holy prepuce, and Timothy.” If that was your first thought when you heard that this episode had been christened as "The Weird Episode," you are not wrong, dear listener. And yet, this episode is going to be even weirder. A lot weirder. “Wait a minute!” a few of you are now saying. “Is that even possible?” The shocking answer is, “Yes.” The weirdness begins with the episode that Timothy and Garrick refer to as “Indiana, Jones, and the Raiders of Church History.” This week, Timothy brings one of the weirdest items ever to make an appearance on The Apologetics Podcast: Antonello, a pet trout from the fifteenth century who was raised from the dead after being fried by the friars. But then Garrick shows up and stabs Antonello with the Lance of Destiny. In the end, the dynamic duo concludes that Antonello is no match for the Lance of Destiny, though perhaps Antonello might survive longer against the Lance of Destiny's Child, which is a spear that sings "Survivor" before stabbing you. And, by the way, “Lance of Destiny” and “Pet Trout” would both make great names for bands. After that, it's on to the magical unicorns! Yes, that's right: unicorns. As it turns out, unicorns show up rather frequently in the King James Version of the Bible. Eight times, to be exact (Numbers 23:22; 24:8; Deuteronomy 33:17; Job 39:9-10; Psalms 22:21; 29:6; 92:10; Isaiah 34:7), which is exactly eight times more than red pandas are mentioned in the Bible, which is a real editorial oversight in the Word of God, if you ask Timothy or Garrick. In any case, this is the point at which Dan Kimball from Vintage Faith Church joins your intrepid cohosts to discuss unicorns, anti-shrimp laws, and other weirdities from the Bible that could only be discussed on a weird episode. But neither a magical unicorn nor a pet trout turns out to be the weirdest animal-related aspect of this weird episode. That's because Dan also wants to discuss the legality of donkeys in bathtubs. Along the way, Dan talks about his most recent book How (Not) to Read the Bible: Making Sense of the Anti-Women, Anti-Science, Pro-Violence, Pro-Slavery and Other Crazy-Sounding Parts of Scripture. ABOUT THE GUEST AND HOSTS Dan Kimball, Ph.D., is the author of several books on leadership, church, and culture. Is The Bible Pro Slavery - How (Not) To Read The Bible Part 3 - Theology LIVE by South Valley Community Church
There are some disturbing passages in Scripture about slavery… but what's really going on in these texts? In this episode we look at some references to slavery in the Bible, and learn how God interacts with people throughout history and culture.
This week both Yusuf and Max are back LIVE. We've got tons of updates on the abolition efforts nationwide. We'll be dropping dimes on all the racist AF republican legislators who have shown no shame in either voting to keep slavery constitutionally legal, or killing anti-slavery bills by cunningly refusing to schedule them for committee hearings. We'll also talk about the recent ruthless supreme court ruling that threw away over 1,500 lives like they didn't even matter. And finally, we want you to know all about the murder and ensuing cover-up of Ronald Greene. What was done to him by police and politicians is worthy of a revolution all by itself. These are crimes against humanity and you need to know now. Of course we've got powerful profound music, spoken word, and bombshell audio clips to share. As always, we'll honor our forbears and bring the voices of the ancestors back to life with our Bridging The Gap Segment. Share this far and wide.

How (Not) To Read The Bible
There are some crazy-sounding things in the Bible, and often, we as Christian gloss over them and do not develop an adequate reason for why they exist. This week, we have author Dan Kimball on the podcast to talk about some of the difficult passages of Scripture and how through good Bible Study Methods, we can make sense of them. Dan is a pastor at Vintage Faith Church in Santa Cruz, CA, as well as a Professor at Western Seminary. His newest book, "How (Not) to Read the Bible: Making Sense of the Anti-Women, Anti-Science, Pro-Violence, Pro-Slavery and Other Crazy-Sounding Parts of Scripture," is a great resource that we highly recommend. This episode will equip you to defend the difficult passages in the Scriptures and help you to explain that they aren’t as crazy as they sound. BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Baltimore City Schools is reporting 13 positive COVID-19 results following pooled testing on staff and students. City school officials released a statement on Monday in regard to the test results, " As part of our safety protocols to prevent COVID spread, City Schools proactively conducts weekly asymptomatic pooled testing on staff and students that informs us if there is an individual in a learning pod that is positive. Last week the district conducted 253 pooled tests on approximately 3,290 people. This yielded 13 positive results. This does not mean every student in a pod has COVID-19. Rather, it is most likely that a single person in the pool had COVID. If there is one person in each positive pool with COVID, that would result in a positivity rate of about .5%." Dr. Kaye also discusses an alarming assignment given to 4th graders at a school North Carolina. Click below to hear the conversation.

An early Bloomington settler and one time friend of Abe Lincoln was also a southern sympathizer. Sarah Withers wrote on May 4th 1861, "This day our nation is to be disgraced by the inauguration of Abe Lincoln as President. How Humiliating!" A selection from the Withers Diary is part of this episode of GLT's recurring series, McHistory. Contributors to this episode of McHistory include McLean County Museum of History Archivist Bill Kemp, and Museum Development Director Beth Whisman. GLT's Charlie Schlenker produces McHistory, which is a co-production of WGLT and the Museum of History using the letters, diaries, and documents of days gone by. Martin Luther King Jr. was fond of using the American Civil War as a metaphor, not just to explain the divisive political landscape, but the divide within each person. Just as there was a North and South in America (Anti-slavery and Pro-Slavery), there was a divide between good and bad within each of us. There was the part pulled towards higher principles and the part that was willing to compromise with baser instincts.Certainly, in his own life, King was pulled this way. He was a man of enormous principle and selflessness, but he also had a number of affairs. This was a violation not only of his marriage, but the Christian teachings he preached at the pulpit. He knew better...but found himself doing it anyway. This tension must have been incredibly painful and shameful for him. So when King said that “there is something of a civil war going on within all our lives,” he wasn’t just speaking theoretically. He knew it firsthand. The point of looking at examples like this isn’t to dismiss someone as a hypocrite—we’ve had quite enough of that zero-sum thinking in recent years and, quite frankly, there’s nothing Stoic about it. Nor are we trying to rationalize or excuse bad behavior. The point is to remember, just like with the US Civil War, that there is no such thing as a perfect person or a perfect cause. For all time, even the best of us have struggled with temptations and personal failings. This is the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, after all. Man has always been pulled apart by competing desires. Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Cato—all the Stoics struggled with it too. They knew the right thing to do—they simply couldn’t always get there. We all fall terribly short of our own standards at times—even low standards. All we can do is get back up when that happens and try better next time. We can’t undo the past, we can’t go back in time, but we can try harder to be better right now—today—and in the future. Just as we are pulled lower, towards our baser selves, we are also capable of pulling ourselves higher, towards our better selves. The North won the US Civil War. And we can win the one raging inside us too. We just have to realize which side we want to fight for. That self-evaluation starts today.
Andrew Jackson, like most toxic white males that lived over 50 years ago...was a sexist, racist, slave-owning, bigoted man who should not be on the 20 dollar bill....or was he?In addition, he was also one of the most celebrated generals in American History and a man elected President who was raised in the shadow of the heroes of the Revolutionary War.Is it possible all the horrible things we learn about Jackson are taught by people less learned than those who originally erected statues to this man? We discuss...How did a small R Republican become the mascot of the democrat party? Was he really called an "Indian Lover" by his white political opponents?? Did he really fire 10% of the federal workforce? Were good intentions behind the Trail of Tears? (Is this even possible?)What about his Supreme Court defiance?henry Clary said, "Greece had it's Alexander, Rome its Caesar - America it's King Andrew"He was Pro-Slavery and pro-liberty? How?Hero of the War of 1812The people’s presidentPassionately devoted to individual liberty.A staunch proponent of Christian morality? Really?Vital to the preservation of the Union. (they always said Union back then...not so much anymore)The largest population growth in the world was during his Presidency.Voting opened up to the majority of the public at that time (prior to civil war and E.P.)Old Hickory. whose mother (per Thomas Sowell) told him: “Among the precepts that Andrew Jackson's mother taught him were never to sue anybody for slander or for assault and battery: "Always settle them cases yourself.” Truth + Character + Wisdom = Prosperity. *******************************************************************► BOOK NOTES / SHOW NOTES► https://goo.gl/ap1nBg PLACES I GO ► PODCAST: SPREAKER- https://www.spreaker.com/show/oh-hale-yeah ► PODCAST: iTunes - ► PODCAST: Google - http://bit.ly/OHYGoogle ► QUORA - https://goo.gl/31USZa ► MEDIUM - https://goo.gl/fMTWZR ► INSTAGRAM- @Oohaleyeah ► FACEBOOK - https://goo.gl/7tA4N6 ► PATREON - https://www.patreon.com/OhHaleYeah ► TWITTER- https://goo.gl/85RFf2 ► PAYPAL- www.paypal.me/OHHALEYEAH ► SUBSCRIBE - https://goo.gl/Utxgdy PLAYLISTS ► THE CLIMATE SCAM► https://goo.gl/nndfC4 ► THE EDUCATION SCAM ► https://goo.gl/THvGvn ► THE ABORTION SCAM► https://goo.gl/8HbBGx ► THE MEDIA SCAM ► https://goo.gl/113Rts ►THE GENDER SCAM► https://goo.gl/CSDHvG ► THE SCIENCE SCAM► https://goo.gl/JuATSE ► MUSLIM JIHAD & THE ISLAMIC CALIPHATE ► https://goo.gl/HzRTy4 ► FEMINISM IS CANCER► https://goo.gl/nsnGJN ► COMMUNISM, FASCISM, SOCIALISM, PROGRESSIVISM ► https://goo.gl/kZGSAA ► SUNDAY SCHOOL ► ►THAT'S RACIST!► https://goo.gl/nDSuFn ►LIVESTREAMS► PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to support this channel. ******************************************************************** Youtube DE-MONETIZES ALMOST ALL OF MY CONTENT. That God allows slavery in the Old Testament is one of the stickier issues Christian apologists deal with, but instead of dealing with it honestly, some want to ignore the difficult parts. Take a look at what they don't want you to know. (For the podcast transcript, search for the title at www.Patheos.com/Blogs/CrossExamined)
In which we take a look at some pro-slavery arguments to see why Seward's "Higher Law" speech in March 1850 made Southerners so very very angry.
Listen HEREThis week I address the silliness of thinking that it is "manly" to consume animal products, specifically "eating meat" because that is one of the most touted myths and one of the biggest misunderstandings of our times, and is another paradigm shift in thinking that we must dismantle and redirect towards obvious truth.
