Mamelodi Sundowns have born knocked out of the CAF Champions League, losing by goal difference to Moroccan giants Wydad AC. Masandawana failed to score away from home and then let 2 goals slip on home soil. One of the goals which Ronwen Williams conceded came from one of his teammates, Mothobi Mvala, thus being declared an own goal. Downs head coach, Rhulani Mokwena, insists that he is not upset with Mvala and has given the defender his full support. With Sundowns exiting yet another cup, they have now only claimed victory on local shores, having won the PSL with 7 games to spare. Given the magnitude of this title, this is nothing to look down upon, but when you consider the set expectations, have Sundowns had a successful season? Missing out on the Nedbank Cup, and now the CAF Champions League, Mzansi speaks about Sundowns' season and question whether or not it can be deemed successful. Marumo Gallants have been more than impressive in the 2022/23 CAF Confederations Cup. They have taken points from some of Africa's biggest clubs, in their hunt for Silverware. Gallants showed true honour and valour throughout the tournament and were ultimately knocked out by Tanzanian outfit Young Africans. Losing 4-1 on aggregate, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa can pat themselves on the back for what they have achieved. Contrary to this, Gallants have officially been relegated from South Africa's top-flight league, the Dstv premiership. Gallants have been far less impressive on the local stage. Accumulating 29 points from 30 games, less than a point a match. Gallants have suffered in the PSL and will soon be plying their trade in the lower division. Speaking on the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi suggests Gallants will struggle to get back into the Dstv premiership, given the competitiveness of the National First Division (NFD). “Look at Cape Town Spurs, how long have they been there for?” Said one fan. Host Carl Lewis is joined by coach and analyst Grant de Smidt as they review the DSTV Premiership match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns subjected Kaizer Chiefs to a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane on Saturday afternoon. Gaston Sirino opened the scoring for the hosts in the sixth minute following a mix-up between Siyabonga Ngezana and goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma in the Chiefs box.  Ngezana was culpable once again in Masandawana's second goal, bringing down Peter Shalulile in the 16th minute for a needless penalty, though Zitha Kwinika was mistakenly shown a yellow card for the foul by referee Victor Gomes. The Namibian dusted himself to double the lead from the spot.  Shalulile got his second goal of the afternoon after firing past the helpless Bvuma in the 53rd minute. Ronwen Williams saved a 56th minute penalty by Khama Billiat, for good measure. The highly-rated Abubeker Nessir introduced himself to South African football rather frighteningly with a sensational goal in the 76th minute to complete the embarrassing rout.  Mamelodi Sundowns: Williams, Modiba, Mudau, B. With the transfer window well underway, some surprise signings could be on the cards, with Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams, being on the radars of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. Thabo Nodada could be leaving Cape Town City for Orlando Pirates and Shane Roberts has signed a loan deal. However, Kaizer Chiefs have been wanting and needing to sign an out-and-out striker, which has become evident since the injury and absence of Samir Nurkovic. Amakhosi fans believe that Khama Billiat has been a great help, but what is to happen if the Zimbabwean star picks up an injury himself? One fan even went on to say that ‘Chiefs don't need to sign players, just offer the job to Zwane.' On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Khosi Nation discusses who they think their team should sign this transfer window, with the likes of Bongani Zungu and Victor Letsoalo being the top priorities.

South African sports has gone through the most in the sporting world this month, can Bafana Bafana bring some respite? Their Africa Cup of Nations tournament did not get off to the best possible start, losing 1-0 to Ivory Coast on Monday but there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. We chat to Tiso Blackstar's digital sports journalist Marc Strydom, who is in Egypt for the Afcon tournament, about South Africa's chances in the tournament. He gives us the lowdown and the rundown of Stuart Baxter's team. South Africa came into the tournament packing quite some fire power in attack, with the likes of Percy Tau, Lebo Mothiba and Lars Veldwijk, plus a collective of creative midfielders such as Themba Zwane, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Lebogang Maboe. They will face the likes of Wilfried Bony, Wilfried Zaha, Nicholas Pepe (all Ivory Coast) and Hakim Ziyech from Morocco as they try to navigate their way out of Group D. Marc also give us an update from Egypt after the game and makes a grand prediction regarding Ronwen Williams possibly unseating Itumeleng Khune as "Mzansi's No 1". We will see if that pans out. We also chat about the Marc Strydom story on the team of prisoners from Helderstroom Prison near Caldeon in the Western Cape and how in the world this happened. The team of prisoners won the Overberg Regional League, beating Police FC along the way. Apparently the team of prisoners were the best behaved in the entire league and had the best disciplinary record. Talk about rehabilitation! Also, we look at the upcoming Craven Week starting in Bloemfontein on July 1st, profiling the surprised package from last year, Border.
