Welcome to our Manchester Arena Bombing On Trial series. On the 22nd of May, 2017, Salman Abedi detonated a bomb in the foyer of the Manchester Arena at the end of an Arianna Grande concert killing 22 people and injuring hundreds more.A conspiracy theory claiming that this bombing was hoaxed and everyone involved was a crisis actor soon became a dominant narrative in the Conspirasphere. One of the main proponents of this theory is Richard D Hall. Over the course of this series we will be examining and deconstructing the claims made by Richard D Hall in his book and documentary "Night Of The Bang" only to discover where the truth lies. As usual, our deep dive series are split into two halves. In the first four episodes we present the conspiracy theory faithfully and with as little judgement as possible. All the while attempting to give our perspective as former believers as to how or why the theory may be believable. In the final four episodes we revisit the theory and provide the often missing context and facts which prove the theory wrong. You have questions? We have answers. Please be aware, this series will be examining a deadly bombing and we will be discussing details of death and injury. Listener discretion is advised.Topics discussed: Episode One - Introducing our new co-host / permanent guest for all of our upcoming deep dive "On Trial" episodes: Joel HillOur personal experience with once believing that false flag attacks were commonplace.Where we were and what we thought about the Manchester Arena Bombing in 2017.Who is Richard D Hall? In today's episode, Lucinda speaks with Liam Duffy, CEP Strategic Advisor. They discuss the findings of the recent Manchester Arena Inquiry, which is the third - and final - report of the inquiry. Chaired by Sir John Saunders, this report focuses on radicalisation and preventability. Liam sheds some light on what the inquiry is all about, the tragedy that occurred back in 2017 in Manchester, the radicalisation process of the perpetrator Salman Abedi and - most importantly - whether the attack could have been prevented.

Did Austerity cause the Manchester Arena Attack in 2017, in which 22 people died? No, of course not. That responsibility rests with the bomber Salman Abedi, who also lost his life in the atrocity. But did Auserity weaken the ability of the police in Greater Manchester (and other major urban areas) to respond to terrorism? The Chair of the Inquiry into the bombing, Sir John Saunders says in his Report , "the cuts did have a significant impact on the ability of GMP [Greater Manchester Police] to provide an adequate public service in certain respects". Adrian Goldberg discusses this with John Cooper KC, the barrister who represented 12 of the 22 victims' families including that of John Atkinson, who the Report suggests would have survived with prompter intervention. On 22 May 2017, as Ariana Grande hit the high notes of her final song to a sold-out Manchester Arena, Salman Abedi hit the button on a homemade bomb. The resulting explosion killed Abedi and 22 other innocent people, and left over 1,000 more injured. The country mourned, millions of pounds were raised, and we all promised not to let hate win. But as the dust settled, a worrying question started being asked: how did a known terrorist sympathiser who had fought alongside an ISIL militia slip through the UK's counterterrorism net? In this week's episode, Dr. Yannick Veilleux-Lepage (Assistant Professor – Terrorism and Political Violence, Leiden University) and I finish our conversation on the changes taking place in today's extremism. Dr. Lepage considers the implications of transmission, replication and adoption and how they function when applied to the Manchester Arena attack. We discuss the emergence of the new tools of the terrorist trade, such as 3D printed firearms. Lastly, we discuss the prevalence of dehumanisation and possible policies predicated on re-humanisation. Join us for a deep dive into terrorism's mutation.
Failed on every level: That's the verdict from victims' families of the Manchester bombing, following a 196 page report into the mistakes which led to Salman Abedi killing 22 members of the public and injuring hundreds at an Ariana Grande concert in 2017. The report highlighted inadequate policing, shortcomings in security and insufficient planning by the venue as some of the many failings which led to the atrocity. Security expert, Chris Phillips, says his industry had warned of these security inadequacies for many years, so we invited him on to Sputnik to ask what, if any, lessons have been learned from this inquiry. In a grim reminder of Canada's dark history of colonialism, 215 unmarked graves were discovered last month at Kamloops, a former residential school in British Columbia. Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde says the discovery has “woken the world up” to the cultural genocide that took place against the indigenous peoples, claiming the burial of the children is a “human rights violation of the highest order.” The discovery comes at the same time as a Canadian high school has been slated for asking children to list the benefits of being placed in one of the country's most notorious residential schools. So, we asked RT's Alex Mihalovich to tell us more about an education system which sent over 150,000 indigenous children to homes as part of a campaign of forced assimilation.
Content warning: We talk about terrorism, murder, and violence. Twenty-two people were killed and more 800 were injured after suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a shrapnel-laden homemade bomb at the end of an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena in 2017. His brother Hashem Abedi was jailed for at least 55 years after helping plan the atrocity. We take a deep dive into the horrific events behind the UK’s largest terrorism trial and how it played out in the press. Later we discuss the alarming rise in far-right terrorism in the UK. Catch up with: Hashem Abedi, brother of the Ariana Grande concert bomber sentenced in a UK court, Zachary Clark, who pled guilty in a NYC court, and Brenton Tarrant being sentenced in a New Zealand court. At a time when more people than ever are being recruited by ISIS and Al Qaeda because of time spent in lockdown searching the Internet and coming across terrorist propaganda, it’s good to hear about some nefarious terrorists being brought to justice. Hashem Abedi, brother of Salman Abedi, the suicide bomber who attacked the Manchester concert venue, in 2017, was found just as guilty and given a sentence that shocked the victims. Revisit this story and find out what Hashem had to do with it and why he was given this sentence. Zachary Clark, a Brooklyn boy, just pled guilty to inciting acts of terrorism by making countless posts encouraging lone wolves to attack with knives and bombs made in the kitchen of your mom, and even posted a map of the NYC subway system. Brenton Tarrant, the Christchurch, New Zealand terrorist, changed his mind at the last minute and decided not to speak at his sentencing hearing. New facts-such as his having used a drone to spy on the first mosque he attacked, will not bode well because it’s evidence of pre-planning. UPDATE: Tarrant was just sentenced to life in prison without parole, the harshest sentence in the country’s history.
This week’s guest is a mother from Manchester who’s life was turned completely upside down, on the night of May 22nd 2017. Figen Murray’s son Martyn Hett was one of 22 innocent concert-goers killed at a suicide bombing that devastated Manchester and beyond, as Salman Abedi, detonated an explosive device in the foyer of The Manchester Arena. Speaking to Sasha, she described the night of the terrorist attack, as they excruciatingly awaited some positive news, as information trickled into their family home. Figen’s maternal instincts sadly proved to be true in this case. “He’s dead. I just know, because it is like somebody has just taken this giant pair of scissors and cut off any presence of him. It feels like he’s suddenly gone, it doesn’t even feel like he is on the planet any more ” She continued, ”call it mum’s intuition or something, but I just absolutely knew that there was suddenly no sense of him whatsoever. It was quite weird” It’s clear that Martyn had something extraordinarily unique about his personality and character. The 29-year-old was a self-professed superfan of Coronation Street and had garnered many connections with the thousands of followers subscribed to his social media channels. Although thinking back about memories of her beautiful son sparks a certain level of pain, Figen still delights in telling Sasha about just how loved he was. “ A lot of his friends were moaning that they had to make an appointment with him to even spend time with him, he was so popular. He lived life a hundred miles an hour really, and I don’t know where he got the energy from”.On the podcast, Sasha and Venetia have spoken a lot about taking action in grief, and how a devastating loss can often spur a loved one on, to channel their energy into something new. This is no different for Figen, who at the age of 59 has begun a Masters Degree in Counter-Terrorism, in a bid to try and understand why and how an act like this is possible. Unlike the majority of death’s that have been discussed on the podcast, there was someone accountable for Martyn’s death, which makes the grieving process much more complicated. Remarkably, Figen has acknowledged in the past that she forgives her sons attacker, something requiring a huge amount of empathy and emotional intelligence. Through her Masters and advocacy work, she is determined now to focus her efforts into preventing radicalisation from an early age, which she believes is the root preventing terrorism claiming more lives. If you're looking for a safe haven to express how you feel, Share articles, photos ,memories and more,Join the Grief Encounters Facebook Group,A place for support, compassion and empathy for those grievinghttps://www.facebook.com/groups/GriefEncounters/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The aim was to collect data to inform policy decisions on CBE. Inside Higher Ed first reported the Ed Department was halting the experiments. The Ed Department notified affected colleges last month that the experimental sites initiative will end on June 30, 2020, though colleges that have active programs may be able to receive federal aid through 2021 to give students time to complete their studies. The agency is ending the experiments after it crafted new regulatory language that could affect CBE programs. Although the department has not yet issued final regulations, the proposed changes include a new system for disbursing federal aid for some CBE programs, according to the letter. https://www.educationdive.com/news/ed-dept-ends-competency-based-education-experiments/569291/ According to Sup China, A high-profile Chinese charity program, created to empower low-income female students by offering them financial aid, has come under attack after people discovered that a notable percentage of its beneficiaries are boys. The practice was brought to light on December 17 when a Weibo user made a post accusing Spring Buds Plan (春蕾计划 chūnlěijìhuá), an education charity launched and managed by China Children and Teenagers Foundation (CCTF), of misusing donor money on boys, which goes against its promise to “help drop-out girls in impoverished areas return to schools,” as the charity states on its website.Responding to widespread backlash to its misuse of donor money, CCTF issued a statement (in Chinese) yesterday admitting to financing boys and apologizing for the confusion that it had caused. According to the statement, among the 1,267 high school students who received its financial aid lately, 453 of them are boys. CCTF explained that when it started seeking donations on online platforms, it intended to only help girls. But during the operation, the foundation changed its mind after local teachers told them that some boys from low-income families also needed support. https://supchina.com/2019/12/18/girls-only-education-charity-program-under-fire-for-financing-boys/Also in China, Xinhua reports that Chinese colleges and universities are required to formulate and issue regulations on online education enrollment, according to a guideline issued by the Ministry of Education Wednesday. The guideline requires colleges and universities to make decisions regarding the scale of online education enrollment in accordance with their development plan, conditions and capability. It also calls for strengthening examination management. Colleges and universities should establish an assessment and evaluation system for online education students, and strengthen examination discipline, the guideline reads. http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2019-12/18/c_138640288.htmIn the UK, the Guardian reports that A school has apologised after children were set homework asking them to imagine they were the parent of a victim of the Manchester Arena bombing. The pupils at Bridlington school, in east Yorkshire, were asked to write a response to the view that “all terrorists should be forgiven”. But parents of the year 8 pupils took to social media complaining that the homework was “not acceptable”.The PSHE (personal, social, health and economic education) task was posted on the Showmyhomework app, used by many schools to coodinate homework between staff, students and parents.Salman Abedi killed 22 people when he detonated a bomb at an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena in May 2017. His brother, Hashem, is due to go on trial in January next year charged with the murder of 22 people, the attempted murder of others who were injured, and conspiracy to cause an explosion. https://www.theguardian.com/education/2019/dec/18/bridlington-school-says-sorry-for-homework-on-terrorist-forgiveness-manchester-arena-attackAccording to Haaretz, State funding to special education in certain ultra-Orthodox schools in Isreal is to face a further cut because coalition agreements signed when the government took office in 2015 have run out. At the time, in return for their participation in the coalition, the ultra-Orthodox parties insisted on increased funding. Some 6,500 children receive special education services in ultra-Orthodox schools that are recognized by the Education Ministry but considered unofficial – that is, the ministry does not supervise them to the same extent as it does institutions that are both recognized and official. The cuts will affect some 6,100 schools attended by a total of 158,000 children. Of these, 113,000 are ultra-Orthodox and 44,000 in secular frameworks and the Arabic-speaking school system. Church-run schools are also included in the recognized but non-official category. In addition to salary cuts, additional teaching hours are to be cut in the non-special education ultra-Orthodox elementary schools that are recognized but not official, affecting 80,000 children. These additional hours are given to schools with poorer children, or to children who need extra help keeping up with the class. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-israel-s-ultra-orthodox-schools-begging-for-special-education-funding-1.8286403Tech Crunch reports that One of India's biggest tech startups is no longer losing money. Education tech startup Byju's on Tuesday posted a net profit of $2.8 million on revenue of $188.8 million in the financial year that ended in March this year. The startup, which helps all school-going children understand complex subjects through its app where tutors use real-life objects such as pizza and cake, has amassed 2.8 million paying subscribers, up from 2.4 million in July, it said. Overall, it has 40 million registered users. Byju's, which also prepares students pursuing undergraduate and graduate-level courses, said its education app is gaining significant traction in smaller cities and towns in India. Its subscribers from outside metro cities already account for 60% of its paying customer base, it said. To court users outside of large cities, Byju's has tweaked the English accents in its app and adapted to different education systems. Mohit said the startup plans to launch programs in vernacular languages. The startup has previously said it plans to enter the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand markets. Earlier this year, it acquired Osmo, a U.S.-based learning startup that is popular among kids aged between five and 12, for $120 million. Osmo this year unveiled a new product to serve the pre-schoolers' market. https://techcrunch.com/2019/12/17/byjus-profitable-fy-2019/ ZDNet is reporting that A non-standard and somewhat weird password reset operation is currently underway at a German university, where more than 38,000 students and staff were asked this week to stand in line with their ID card and a piece of paper to receive new passwords for their email accounts. All of this is going on at the Justus Liebig University (JLU) in Gießen, a town north of Frankfurt, Germany. The university suffered a malware infection last week. While the name or the nature of the malware strain was not disclosed, the university's IT staff considered the infection severe enough to take down its entire IT and server infrastructure. For the past days, IT staff have used antivirus scanners loaded on more than 1,200 USB flash drives to scan each JLU computer for malware.Furthermore, JLU staff also believed the malware infection impacted the university's email server, and, as a precautionary measure, they reset all passwords for all email accounts, used by students and staff alike. But in a bizarre twist of German law, the university couldn't send out the new passwords to the students' personal email accounts.Instead, citing legal requirements imposed by the German National Research and Education Network (DFN), JLU professors and students had to pick up their passwords from the university's IT staff in person, after providing proof of their identity using an ID card.https://www.zdnet.com/article/more-than-38000-people-will-stand-in-line-this-week-to-get-a-new-password/ And that rounds it up for todays headlines. Hashem Abedi has been extradited to the UK and charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiring with his older brother, Salman Abedi, to attack Ariana Grande’s concert. Salman was the suicide bomber at the scene, while Hashem was the cowardly brother who stayed behind in Libya. Still Hashem allegedly did take part, by helping to buy bomb-making chemicals and a Nissan Micra car to store the bomb components, amongst other conspiratorial acts. One would think Hashem would be returning to the UK with his tail between his legs, but instead he’s denying all charges related to the May 22, 2017 attack, and claiming he only signed a confession under duress. Indeed, when the judge read out the names of all 22 persons killed when Salman detonated his suicide vest, Hashem sat stone-faced. The Abedi family originally came from Libya before settling in Manchester. Hear about how terrorism was a family affair, and why Hashem and Salman threw away the opportunities they had in the UK to become terrorists - and to attack their own city.
In this episode, I cover the California wildfires geoengineering, China's credit system, ID cards and terrorism. California has been struck by wildfires or forest fires. I make points about it not being made in the mainstream media (of course) and talk about the possible wider context of the story. Atmospheric spraying to 'save the planet' may be 'possible' say engineers. I have talked about geoengineering before and I talk about why geoengineering is *already* happening and has been for a long time. China has blacklisted millions of people from booking flights as part of its new social credit system. I talk about the social credit system and what it means for the rest of the world. ID cards are being proposed as a means of ensuring only migrants who come here to live and work are ever allowed into the UK. I talk about what the ID card means for people and where it's leading. Salman Abedi, who we're told committed the Manchester bombing of the Ariana Grande concert, was known to authorities and could've been stopped. This is a recurring theme. I talk about the wider context of this story.
Why did UK authorities hide the truth about the Manchester suicide bomber? New revelations show that the May 2017 Ariana Grande concert terror attack could have been prevented. If only authorities had heeded red flags, and not treated Salman Abedi (nicknamed Dumbo) with kid gloves, countless lives would have been saved! Victims and their families are now demanding to know why the official investigation left out key secrets about the UK’s involvement with Salman Abedi - what they knew or should have known - and what they did and should not have done - that would have prevented the tragedy. What makes it all the more painful is that, in the end, it was not UK authorities or counterterrorism experts who disclosed these secrets, but the press carrying on their own investigation. It is no wonder that victims and their families feel betrayed. Dr. Carole puts Salman Ramadan Abedi, the Manchester suicide-bomber on her couch. Twenty-two years old when he committed the Ariana Grande concert attack, he was born in Manchester to a family of Libyan-born refugees. When you hear his story - and that of his family - you will wonder: ‘What were they thinking?' when the UK welcomed and harbored these terrorists.
The Ariana Grande concert attack could have been prevented, if authorities had heeded red flags, and not treated Salman Abedi (nicknamed Dumbo) with kid gloves!

Darrell Castle talks about the Manchester bombing along with President Trump's message delivered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. TRANSCRIPT MANCHESTER AND THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE TO MUSLIMS Hello this is Darrell Castle with today's podcast. Today is Friday June 2, 2017 and on today's podcast we will be discussing the recent terrorist bombing attack conducted against people attending a rock or pop concert in Manchester, England. The performer at the concert was Arianna Grande, apparently a huge American star who appeals primarily to early teen girls. Salman Abedi, age 22, acting in the name of the religion of peace, strapped a bomb lined with nails to his chest and walked into the arena where thousands of people including many children were enjoying the concert and blew himself up. The explosion created instant carnage with 22 dead and over 100 wounded. Many of the wounded were critical and may have died since the last report of casualties. There were many stories of families picking nails from the faces of their daughters after the blast. Nothing gets to people like attacking their children. As my pastor once said, “you're only as happy as your saddest child.” Mr. Abedi's parents immigrated from Libya to the UK in the 1980's to escape, they said, the repressive regime of Moramar Gaddafi . They settled in Manchester in a Libyan community that now numbers over 20,000 and had several children there including the bomber who was born in 1994. In 2011, after President Obama, along with the leaders of England and France, invaded Libya and killed Mr. Gaddafi, the Abedi's returned to Libya but Salman then age 17 stayed in the UK with his younger brother Hashiin, and his older brother Ishmael. His sister Jomana returned to Libya with her parents. Jomana, who works at a Mosque in Libya, said that her brother was kind and loving and she congratulated him on entering paradise. Apparently the Religion of Peace rewards the murder of children with entry into paradise for the murderer. To me, living in the West, this all seems twisted, sick, and demented but to adherents of the Religion of Peace, I suppose, it makes perfect since. At the time of this recording, 14 people have been arrested as having been connected to the attack, including Salman's younger brother Hashin who is being considered an accomplice, and his father in Libya who was described as a member of an Islamic extremist group. I remind you though, that killing unbelievers is not extreme in Islam, but is required by the Muslim Holy Book. The purpose of terrorism after all is to create terror and what better way to terrify a population than to attack its children. What better way to deliver the message, you can't even protect your most vulnerable from us and we will conquer you all in time. To me this indicates that the goals of multiculturalism and diversity are higher on the UK priority scale than their children. The British media, especially the UK guardian, made much of the fact that Mr. Salman was born in Britain so immigration had nothing to do with it. The real enemy and the thing to be avoided at all costs, the media told us, is Islamaphobia, but does the fact that our bomber, Salman Abedi, was born in the UK make him a home grown terrorist. His father never left his extremist Islamic group even in Britain and the family didn't assimilate to British life and in fact apparently hated the country that had taken in the parents. That is one of many problems with multiculturalism. It doesn't create a “melting pot” but instead just moves a foreign culture from one place to another. Prime Minister, Theresa May, did take action though. She sent armed soldiers into the streets to patrol near British monuments and tourist attractions while uttering the same bland phrases such as hope, peace, etc. Maybe she should consider sending some of the soldiers to the border as border security. That would be a change I could believe in. In a population of about 65 million,

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
