22 people died in the 2017 Manchester Bombing, and over a thousand were injured. Former TV producer Richard Hall has been in court for allegedly harassing victims of the bombing to show that the event was an ‘elaborate hoax'. He believes that the bombing was staged, and the people involved were ‘crisis actors'. What are they, and why do so many people believe in them?Olivia Peden is joined by Belfast Telegraph journalist Kurtis Reid to find out why conspiracy theorists deny events like these. Ben Emlyn-Jones joins as guest presenter with Neil Ward who discuss Secret research bases in the UK with Box residents who live near one, Mark and Liz Froud, otherwise known as The Crafty Nialist . We also discuss secret tunnels and the reasons that maybe they were designed, and also discuss the Cern project and the strange opening ceremony that introduced the world to the sub-atomic super tunnel. Neil talks about strange shadow hunter beings and the origins of Pan and the word Panic. What also is Sleep Paralysis? Do old Hags really keep you up at night, or do they eventually draw a pension? We then turn out attention to the case of Richard D Hall of Richplanet TV who is being sued by Manchester Bombing survivors and asks is it going to be a fair trial given that he is not allowed to even present evidence to support his case? Has the world gone mad? Yes, ever so slightly more than it was the day before!
Please be aware, this series will be examining a deadly bombing and we will be discussing details of death and injury. Listener discretion is advised.Examining the Conspiracy Theories Around the Manchester Arena BombingThe 2017 Manchester Arena bombing was a tragic event that left 22 people dead and hundreds more injured. However, in the years since, a number of conspiracy theories have emerged claiming the attack was a hoax. One of the main proponents of this theory is Richard D. Hall, who has produced a book and documentary called "The Night of the Bang" alleging the victims were crisis actors. In this 8-part podcast series, we aim to meticulously examine the claims made by Hall and others, assess the evidence, and uncover the truth behind this divisive event. As content creators, we recognize the responsibility we have to approach these sensitive discussions with great care. The first half of the series will present Hall's arguments and the conspiracy theory in detail. We will then spend the second half deconstructing these claims and determining where the truth lies. This balanced approach is crucial, as conspiracy theories around tragic events can have devastating consequences. We've already seen how these false narratives can fracture communities and lead to the harassment of victims and their families. The recent legal action taken by Manchester Arena survivors Martin and Eve Hibbert against Hall is a landmark case, the first of its kind in the UK against a "disaster troll.”The Hibberts are seeking an injunction to prevent Hall from making similar allegations in the future, as well as damages. Their lawyer has described Hall's actions as "appalling" and hopes this case will set a precedent to better protect survivors of tragedies from such harassment. This issue also highlights the challenges lawmakers and social media platforms face in addressing the spread of disinformation and abuse online. While new legislation like the UK's Online Safety Bill aims to improve user protections, there are still debates over how far such laws can and should go.Ultimately, the Manchester Arena bombing conspiracy theories demonstrate the very real harm that can result when facts are obscured and victims are re-traumatized. As we delve into this complex topic, our goal is to provide a thoughtful, nuanced examination - one that honours the memory of those lost and supports the recovery of the survivors.By rigorously analysing the evidence and ethical implications, we hope to cut through the noise and misinformation, offering listeners a clearer understanding of this tragic event and the importance of responsible journalism in the face of conspiracy theories.Listen to episodes weekly: https://www.somedarecallitconspiracy.com/all-episodes/deep-dives/season-2/manchester-arena-bombing-on-trialFind us on your preferred podcast platform: https://pod.link/1629532988 Listen to all 8 parts of the series now: https://www.patreon.com/somedarecallitconspiracy You have questions? Six years ago Paul Price's life changed forever. He was picking up his daughter from an Ariana Grande concert when a terrorist detonated a bomb in the entrance to the Manchester Arena. It was one of the most devastating terror attacks in a generation and Paul was at its epicentre. He spent the following eight months in hospital as doctors battled to fix his shattered body. But these months of pain and loss were followed by another challenge - accessing the support he desperately needed from the British government. In this week's episode of The i Podcast, we visit Paul at his house in Liverpool to find out why he feels the government has "made his trauma worse". In this conversation we will examine some of the lessons learnt from anecdotal experiences in major incidents, together with the reflections from previous recommendations in major incident enquiries such as the Manchester bombings. We will examine the differentiation of terrorist attacks at point of call from an otherwise normal RTC or ‘typical' incident. We also look at the initial approach to triage, who and how this should be done as well as the integration and relationship of the Ten Second Triage (TST) algorithm, the Major Incident Triage Tool (MITT) and levels of enhanced care at the scene. Also, the concept of casualty clearing and when and how this should be performed. We also examine the level/ceiling of intervention that is beneficial from the empirical research in such events and how this should be approached. We also examine inter-disciplinary working with other services such as police responders and fire brigade. Keir Rutherford is an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner in Critical Care and also a flight paramedic with London's Air Ambulance. Alec is also an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner in Critical Care and the Emergency Planning Resilience and Response (EPRR) lead for Festival Medical Services, who are a charity providing event medical cover including at Glastonbury and also a Specialist Paramedic for Hampshire Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. On 22 May 2017, as Ariana Grande hit the high notes of her final song to a sold-out Manchester Arena, Salman Abedi hit the button on a homemade bomb. The resulting explosion killed Abedi and 22 other innocent people, and left over 1,000 more injured. The country mourned, millions of pounds were raised, and we all promised not to let hate win. But as the dust settled, a worrying question started being asked: how did a known terrorist sympathiser who had fought alongside an ISIL militia slip through the UK's counterterrorism net? Failed on every level: That's the verdict from victims' families of the Manchester bombing, following a 196 page report into the mistakes which led to Salman Abedi killing 22 members of the public and injuring hundreds at an Ariana Grande concert in 2017. The report highlighted inadequate policing, shortcomings in security and insufficient planning by the venue as some of the many failings which led to the atrocity. Security expert, Chris Phillips, says his industry had warned of these security inadequacies for many years, so we invited him on to Sputnik to ask what, if any, lessons have been learned from this inquiry. In a grim reminder of Canada's dark history of colonialism, 215 unmarked graves were discovered last month at Kamloops, a former residential school in British Columbia. Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde says the discovery has “woken the world up” to the cultural genocide that took place against the indigenous peoples, claiming the burial of the children is a “human rights violation of the highest order.” The discovery comes at the same time as a Canadian high school has been slated for asking children to list the benefits of being placed in one of the country's most notorious residential schools. So, we asked RT's Alex Mihalovich to tell us more about an education system which sent over 150,000 indigenous children to homes as part of a campaign of forced assimilation.

In 2017, Freya Lewis was just 14 when she was injured in a bomb blast after an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester in the U.K. She woke up in intensive care to the news that her best friend had been killed. With the support of her family, her community and even her favourite pop stars like Harry Styles and Ariana Grande herself, Freya began to rebuild her life and find joy again in the songs that had become too painful in the aftermath. Hers is a story of a teenage friendship, fandom and the strength to carry on. Freya's book is called What Makes Us Stronger. This week’s guest is a mother from Manchester who’s life was turned completely upside down, on the night of May 22nd 2017. Figen Murray’s son Martyn Hett was one of 22 innocent concert-goers killed at a suicide bombing that devastated Manchester and beyond, as Salman Abedi, detonated an explosive device in the foyer of The Manchester Arena. Speaking to Sasha, she described the night of the terrorist attack, as they excruciatingly awaited some positive news, as information trickled into their family home. Figen’s maternal instincts sadly proved to be true in this case. “He’s dead. I just know, because it is like somebody has just taken this giant pair of scissors and cut off any presence of him. It feels like he’s suddenly gone, it doesn’t even feel like he is on the planet any more ” She continued, ”call it mum’s intuition or something, but I just absolutely knew that there was suddenly no sense of him whatsoever. It was quite weird” It’s clear that Martyn had something extraordinarily unique about his personality and character. The 29-year-old was a self-professed superfan of Coronation Street and had garnered many connections with the thousands of followers subscribed to his social media channels. Although thinking back about memories of her beautiful son sparks a certain level of pain, Figen still delights in telling Sasha about just how loved he was. “ A lot of his friends were moaning that they had to make an appointment with him to even spend time with him, he was so popular. He lived life a hundred miles an hour really, and I don’t know where he got the energy from”.On the podcast, Sasha and Venetia have spoken a lot about taking action in grief, and how a devastating loss can often spur a loved one on, to channel their energy into something new. This is no different for Figen, who at the age of 59 has begun a Masters Degree in Counter-Terrorism, in a bid to try and understand why and how an act like this is possible. Unlike the majority of death’s that have been discussed on the podcast, there was someone accountable for Martyn’s death, which makes the grieving process much more complicated. Remarkably, Figen has acknowledged in the past that she forgives her sons attacker, something requiring a huge amount of empathy and emotional intelligence. Through her Masters and advocacy work, she is determined now to focus her efforts into preventing radicalisation from an early age, which she believes is the root preventing terrorism claiming more lives. If you're looking for a safe haven to express how you feel, Share articles, photos ,memories and more,Join the Grief Encounters Facebook Group,A place for support, compassion and empathy for those grievinghttps://www.facebook.com/groups/GriefEncounters/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The level of terrorist violence is on the rise. Let's focus on what we can do as a result. Learning from the Manchester Bombing As we always say, we never want anyone to cower in fear as a result of terrorism. When we do this as a people, the terrorists win. This latest incident lets us raise our awareness and ability to respond. Let's look at these things. Awareness and communication are the cornerstones of a readiness plan A personal plan is very important. Understanding the larger picture of this terrorist threat is just as important Get serious about how things affect you and yours Understand Memorial Day and the sacrifice made Words are useless without action. #7: Through The Attic Window: Manchester Bombing from a Mancunian Perspective Through the Attic Window is an opinion series from Cellar Door Skeptics Podcast. This episode we decided we wanted the perspective of someone who was close to the terror attack that just happened. We are deeply sad by the tragic events of the last couple day. We reached out to a friend of ours who lived in the area, attended concerts at the arena, and had a great conversation with him. He wrote a blog we felt was imperative to helping everyone heal, while exposing the real side of what happened in Manchester. We hope everyone enjoys it and please reach out and comment on his blog.
