This week, we are featuring two of the Regenerative Agriculture Fellows of Saticoy Food Hub, Kim Aguilar and Soli Guitierrez, and the Garden Coordinator of Rosalinda Sauro Sirianni Memorial Garden, Kate Robson.  We hope each of you listening in today will be inspired by the commendable work these organizations are providing for their communities and beyond. There, they work to build food sovereignty with Saticoy residents and help sustain the organization's three major programs: Saticoy Community Fridge, Saticoy Certified Farmers Market, and Saticoy Sowers. Saticoy Sowers is food and medicine cultivation education that is meant to bring community members together to learn from each other about traditional and regenerative agricultural practices in culturally-relevant ways. The Saticoy Sowers program also provides access to the Food Hub's newly established seed library, nursery, and gleaning tools, thanks in part to the generous support of Mountain Rose Herbs.  Kim Aguilar (they/them) is a community advocate with a background in Environmental Studies and Sociology, holding a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. They are dedicated to advancing the vision of food sovereignty in Saticoy through food access and self-sufficient food cultivation. In their time at Saticoy Food Hub, they helped develop Saticoy Sowers, a backyard growers program that integrates herbalism and holistic medicine aimed at fostering sustainable practices and community health. Soli Gutierrez (she/her) is a community educator and organizer focused on food sovereignty, traditional regenerative agriculture, and Spanish language access. Born and raised in Ventura County. In 2019, she co-founded the Pesticide-Free Soil Project, which collaborated with schools on compost tea parties and hosted local environmental experts. Sauro Passeri, Site & Sustainability Director per CFS Europe SpA. Dopo il diploma di perito chimico si iscrivere alla facoltà di Chimica Industriale dell'Università di Bologna. Dopo la laurea specialistica, completata con 110 e Lode nel 2005, prosegue l'attività di ricerca nell'ambito della catalisi eterogena presso il gruppo di ricerca del prof. Cavani. Nel corso del dottorato svolge una parte di attività a Utrecht in Olanda. Ad aprile 2009, poco dopo la discussione della tesi di dottorato, inizia a lavorare in Borregaard Italia come tecnologo di processo. L'anno successivo la società è ceduta al gruppo indiano Camlin Fine Sciences, da lì il cambio di nome in CFS Europe. Dopo alcuni mesi di fermo impianto e una riorganizzazione aziendale, passa al ruolo di responsabile impianto e dal 2013 è dirigente. Negli anni successivi oltre a sviluppare progetti per l'impianto di Ravenna, collabora a progetti con partner internazionali che lo portano a viaggiare spesso tra Stati Uniti e India. Music heals. It always has. It's one of the few things that is common to all people – regardless of nationality, culture, religion or politics. It's a binding element. A societal glue that has the power to heal. Today's guest, Alice Sauro, believes this to the marrow of her bones. Among the first kids in the US to be trained under the Suzuki Method, Alice went on to study at Julliard and then to perform for 29 years. She shifted from performance to management – first at the Fisher Theater in Detroit, then the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and then to a 7 year stint at the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera. It was while there she had the first-hand experience both of the grounding power of music, and truly leaning into that power to bring that orchestra back from the brink of financial ruin and position it for growth and sustainability. In February 2022, Alice took the helm of the Las Vegas Philharmonic as Interim Executive Director. In the short time she's been in Las Vegas she has proven a steady hand on the wheel for an organization that, like so many in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, had become a bit wobbly. She's deeply curious and believes that it is curiosity and connection that define leadership. Important beliefs and something that she's known for a long time, since childhood really, in no small part thanks to a kitten, named Sheila. What does leadership actually mean in today's world? Carl was named Senior Vice President of Investments when he joined Congress Wealth Management in May 2021.
