Matt Ryan contract allows Colts to move aggressively to add a wide receiver, tackle, yet another defensive lineman - or sign Quenton Nelson and Yannick Ngakoue to extensions. Indiana Athletics may have filled its basketball staff with too many generals and not enough lieutenants when they brought in Mike Woodson, Dane Fife, and Thad Matta. Clarity is required from leaders, and that needs to extend to Scott Dolson and the university's president. In 2008 Fred Glass was hired as IU A.D. to salvage a dispirited athletic department reeling from the tragic loss of Terry Hoeppner and firing of Kelvin Sampson. Fred accomplished so much more than that, leading over a decade of astounding growth and unprecedented success, both athletically and academically, for all 24 teams representing his beloved alma mater. By the time he handed the reins to Scott Dolson, Fred had secured his legacy as one of the most important Hoosiers of our time, and thus the IU President's Medal of Excellence was bestowed upon him..And yet his achievements beyond Bloomington are equally impressive. At age 29 he was Chief of Staff for Indiana Governor Evan Bayh. Later he was instrumental in the building of Lucas Oil Stadium, thus ensuring the Colts would stay in Indianapolis. He then went on to help his hometown secure the Super Bowl in 2012, and it's place in the permanent rotation for hosting the NCAA Final Four. It's time to address the elephant in the room. After a brutal 81-69 home loss to Purdue, the Hoosiers have now dropped eight straight to the Boilermakers. Archie Miller is 0-6 against the in-state rival, and Hoosier fans' displeasure is growing, to say the least. Should IU move on from Miller in the offseason? Will athletic director Scott Dolson entertain the idea? Also, reports are circulating that Indiana will hire Charlton Warren as its new defensive coordinator, after Warren spent two years at Georgia. Scott Dolson is a boss. Not just any boss, mind you, but the boss of Archie Miller, Tom Allen, and 22 other Division 1 head coaches. And they couldn't be working for a nicer, smarter, more humble, humorous or passionate man. Listen in as we learn how Scott fell in the love with IU as a kid, only to become a manager for the 1987 title team, and after 30 years of working tirelessly for the department, he laid out a vision for all of IU sports that landed him the top job.
