Part two today with Mike Hamilton of Madison County, as he shares the story of how he and his wife Julie got started in the Black Hereford cattle business..

On the 44th episode of Enterprise Software Innovators, host Evan Reiser (Abnormal Security) talks with Mike Hamilton, CIO of Cloudflare. Cloudflare is a cloud connectivity company that helps businesses deliver content and applications worldwide while keeping them secure. More than 20% of all internet traffic flows through Cloudflare's networks, making them an indispensable part of modern internet infrastructure. In this conversation, Mike shares insights into how AI helps filter the noise in cybersecurity, the seamless integration of AI in business operations, and the power of AI to automate the mundane.Quick hits from Mike:On AI's role in the future of business: “Artificial intelligence as a technology goes back decades, back into the fifties, starting with academic papers. But the scale of how it gets delivered has been one of the challenges. We're at this interesting turning point now where we've developed something that can actually support this incredible technology to take off.”On the future integration of AI in business operations: “The area that I want to see worked out the most is around the integration space and how we get business systems to talk to each other, [for example, how AI] technology can read API specifications and start to understand how to create automations based on those specs.. That's something the AI industry has to nail."On the impact of AI on human life: “I think humans will live longer as a result of technology, and I don't think we're necessarily going to draw the connection. Just in the same way that technology, like computers, has improved our quality of life, there are going to be many little ways that AI will extend human life. We probably won't think about it as AI's doing, but it will be, and it might not even get the credit it deserves.”Recent Book Recommendation: Leadership is Language by L. Mike is a member of AAILA and he'll tout the benefits all day long, from assistance and support to education, just like NAILD does for independent lighting distributors. AAILA brings together independent lighting agents and makes them “stronger together.” When he's not volunteering for AAILA, he and his company are working on projects like lighting the longest enclosed pedestrian bridge in the world. (https://www.durhamregion.com/news/lighting-up-the-pickering-skyline/article_008e7f09-f2f4-5d10-96bc-0601ce2c4f33.html) The vision for Mike's company, Visionz, is simple: be dedicated to the customer experience, partner with premier brands, and support the design community on their projects from start to finish. You'll have to listen to the end to hear what Michael and Greg think is the best explanation they've heard for what an agent is. A Canadian with over 24 years in the lighting industry, Mike Hamilton's experience in the lighting specification community is extensive, having been a part of the 12V LED lighting market, from its inception. Mike has led national sales teams and participated in their product design & development initiatives. All prior to entering the lighting specification market in Toronto. Mike has participated in a number of media attention grabbing projects, like the lighting of the longest enclosed pedestrian bridge in the world. Mike is currently the principal of Visionz Inc. a prominent Toronto based Architectural Products agency, that is focused on the creation of specifications in the areas of Architectural Lighting, Landscape Furnishings, and integration of Architectural Elements.

Politics is a game in which the truth often gets stretched. But new artificial intelligence tools are making it easy for anyone to bend reality into a pretzel. AI-generated video, still images and fundraising emails are already popping up on the campaign trail. There are fake photos of Donald Trump embracing Dr. Anthony Fauci, exaggerated dystopian Toronto cityscapes and a stock photo of a woman with a curious surplus of arms. The threat goes beyond the occasional extra appendage or incendiary but obvious deepfake, says Mike Hamilton, co-founder of cybersecurity firm Critical Insight. He spoke with Marketplace’s Meghan McCarty Carino about AI's power to enable election manipulators to finely target specific groups of voters with disinformation.
