In the realm of risk, cybersecurity is a fairly new idea. Most people currently entering the cybersecurity profession do not remember a time when cybersecurity was not a major concern. Yet at the time of this writing, reliance on computers to run business operations is less than a century old. Prior to this time, operational risk was more concerned with natural disasters than man-made ones. Fraud and staff mistakes are also part of operational risk, so as dependency on computers steadily increased from the 1960s through the 1980s, a then-new joke surfaced: To err is human, but if you really want to screw things up, use a computer.Foundational technology risk management concepts have been in place since the 1970s, but the tuning and the application of these concepts to cybersecurity were slow to evolve. Yet there is no doubt that cybersecurity risk management tools and techniques have continuously improved.. Although the consequences of cybersecurity incidents have become dramatically more profound over the decades, available controls have also become more comprehensive, more ubiquitous, and more effective. This seminar is intended to make the fundamentals of cybersecurity risk management visible to those who are contributing to it, and comprehensible to those looking in from the outside. Like any effort to increasing visibility, increasing transparency in cybersecurity requires clearing out some clouds first. A Secretaria de Portos, Aeroportos e Ferrovias (SPAF), está sob novo comando. Robison Coelho assumiu a função na última segunda-feira (15). Ele estava como adjunto da pasta, mas responderá pela titularidade durante o período de afastamento do secretário Beto Martins, que retornará ao cargo em 1º de março. No cargo de secretário adjunto da SPAF, desde a criação da secretaria em março de 2023, Robison Coelho tem acompanhado todas as ações e investimentos que o Estado vem fazendo para apoiar a logística catarinense. A pasta tem ações em andamento nos portos, aeroportos e ferrovias do Estado. No último ano foi registrado um crescimento no investimento e no desempenho de todos estes setores. O governo tem se mostrado muito próximo do setor logístico que é tão importante para a economia de Santa Catarina e o objetivo é estreitar ainda mais estes laços. Robison Coelho tem 45 anos, é mestre em Engenharia de Transportes e Gestão Territorial pela UFSC. É portuário, empresário do setor de comércio exterior e atuou como professor universitário. Em entrevista ao Cruz de Malta Notícias desta terça-feira (16) o novo secretário de de Portos, Aeroportos e Ferrovias do Estado, falou sobre a expectativa de trabalho para os próximos 45 dias, período em que estará no comando da pasta. What other methods of catching such criminals are available? What would be the impact to everyone if they were forced to use such weakened encryption tools? There are continued efforts by US and worldwide governments and law enforcement to compel tech providers to create backdoors into encryption technologies to allow access to the data if they think they need it. We all want terrorists and criminals caught. But is putting backdoor access to encrypted data files actually the only way to solve cases where encrypted data is involved? Are there other methods available to get intelligence information beyond just the encrypted data, and are other methods available to obtain access to encrypted data instead of putting backdoors into the technology? Would such requirements even be effective with so many encryption technologies available from other countries? Or, should law enforcement investigations always be put before privacy risks?
