This year, there are THREE games in the Eggstraviganza! Each board is $9.99 plus tax, and can be purchased at select merchandise locations around the resort. One game board is for Disneyland park, one is for Disney California Adventure, and finally one for Downtown Disney. Once guests have found all the eggs, the game boards can be returned for one of six collectable eggs. Redemption locations are at the Plaza Point on Main Street, Elias & Co. on Buena Vista Street, and Disney's Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. The eggstraviganza is available March 31st through April 17th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/eggstravaganza-is-hippity-hoppity-fun-at-the-disneyland-resort/ The Disneyland Resort honored 100,000 years of work from Cast Members with two parties at Disney California Adventure last week. The party featured an open bar and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The cast members that were celebrated were those with over 10 years of service. This included 102 that worked for 40 years at Disneyland, 46 who worked 45 years, and 14 who worked 50 years! Half of the attractions and more than two-dozen Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters were on hand. It was the largest employee service celebration in Disneyland history. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/28/disneyland-honors-100000-years-of-work-with-employee-service-celebration/ A sad bit of news to report this week as one of, if not the most famous cast members at the resort is retiring! Maynard, who Tage has been aware of since the late 90s, is stepping away from the Happiest Place on Earth on April 1st. This isn't an April fools joke though! We were lucky enough to meet him at the Enchanted Tiki Room during our visit in December. He was almost as big of a character as Mickey Mouse himself. Guests were always in for a treat when he was at a location. Disneyland just won't be the same without him, but he deserves some time to himself in retirement! – https://www.micechat.com/317538-disneyland-cast-member-maynard-smith-retires/ Calling all single riders! For the first time since the attraction opened, Web Slingers will offer a single rider line. The new single rider entrance is located between the stand-by entrance and the Lightning Lane entrance. The Disney Food Blog reported that they waited just 17 minutes in the single rider line when the stand-by line was 65 minutes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/24/single-rider-line-now-available-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure-in-disneyland/ With Fantasmic! retuning in the next couple of months and Pirates of the Caribbean down for an extended refurbishment, it is the perfect time to re-imagine the waterfront of New Orleans Square. Walls went up almost two weeks ago and work is underway to remove some of the elevated sections of the walkway to provide for more queuing options for Pirates, and better crowd flow for Fantasmic! From the view over the construction walls, the planters have gone away, but the trees have remained. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/ One place that the trees have not been spared is in the Pirates Queue where the two older trees have been trimmed back for removal soon. The trees are planned to be replaced in this location to keep the much needed shade while waiting in line for Pirates. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/ Another experience from a Galaxy Far, Far Away is coming to Tomorrowland at the end of April. Starting on April 29th, Hyperspace Mountain will launch guests into the Star Wars universe. This experience will not be available for long, so be sure to check it out if you are visiting around the end of April into May. For those who have not experienced this version of Space Mountain, it is basically a Star Wars overlay for the popular indoor coaster. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/28/hyperspace-mountain-is-coming-back-to-disneyland-for-a-limited-time/ Pins fans get excited! Some new limited edition pins, themed to Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Easter, and St. Patrick's Day have arrived around the resort. The limited edition Easter pin features Sleeping Beauty Castle and an Easter basket full of eggs with Disneyland at the bottom for $19.99. The Pirates pin has a skeleton pirate sitting on some treasure with 55th Anniversary on the top and Pirates of the Caribbean at the bottom for $17.99. Kermit the Frog is sitting in a pot of gold for the St. Patrick's Day pin for $17.99. Finally, the Star Wars pins feature Lieutenant Bek or Vi Moradi with an orange Resistance logo and the word Resist on the top for $19.99. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/03/limited-edition-easter-and-star-wars-pins-limited-release-pirates-of-the-caribbean-and-st-patricks-day-pins-arrive-at-disneyland-resort/ This next story is something that we saw ourselves while visiting the resort last week. The new Disney Vacation Club or DVC tower has started vertical construction! when completed, the new tower will stand 12 stories high and add 350 time share villas to the resort. No date on when this tower is scheduled to be completed. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/24/photos-vertical-construction-has-begun-on-the-disneyland-hotel-dvc-tower/ Last week, Magic Key Holders were able to pick up a free souvenir at Disney California Adventure! A Magic Key Holder themed reusable straw was given out to Keyholders on March 21st, 23rd, and 24th. The straw came in a blue carrying case, with a carabiner clip on one end, and unscrews to reveal the straw. The straw itself is blue and split into three pieces, which screw together to make a full length straw. It even came with a straw cleaner. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/19/only-select-guests-can-grab-disneylands-new-free-souvenir/ Discussion Topic: The first few days of the wedding at Disneyland – Teresa and Tage

Join the All Enchanting Ears Ears of the Month Club! https://www.patreon.com/allenchantingears News: The plan that Disneyland proposed to the local and state governments was partially accepted last week, making it official that Downtown Disney, and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel are cleared to open, in line with the proposed plan. The plan for the theme parks are still being reviewed and have not been approved as of the recording of this episode. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/06/downtown-disney-district-disneys-grand-californian-hotel-spa-and-disneys-paradise-pier-hotel-approved-for-phased-reopening/ The new Disney Parks Pass system was launched this week for Walt Disney World guests that had existing reservations at the resort hotels. Guests needed to be signed into the My Disney Experience login, and have an active theme park ticket to proceed through the system. Be sure to have your park ticket, any hotel reservations, and your party created before you begin for the easiest path through the system. On the first day, guests were then put into a virtual queue with a very inaccurate wait time. At that point, you could “view availability” much like the Flex Pass calendar system. Green showed all parks available, yellow for some parks available, and grey for no parks available. You select a date and the available parks are displayed. Then you will need to select a time to visit the park. Afterwards, you need to review and confirm your reservation. Multi-day tickets are required to make a reservation for every day of the ticket. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2020/06/first-look-at-new-theme-park-reservation-system-for-disneyland-and-walt-disney-world-revealed/ and https://wdwnt.com/2020/06/how-to-access-the-new-disney-park-pass-system-at-walt-disney-world-new-availability-calendar-available/ With the parks planned reopening approaching, the Incredibles have shown up to help guests remember the guidelines to attend. Frozone will remind you to check your temperature, Mrs. Incredible will remind you to maintain proper distance with others, Dash wants you to wash your hands, and Edna Mode will remind you to cover up with a mask. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/06/together-lets-make-your-next-disney-day-incredible/ If you are one of the folks excited to get back onto Disney property, then July 9th can’t come soon enough. Disney has posted a Know Before You Go poster on what to know and be prepared for when you get back to the resort. Downtown Disney will be the first part to open and will require a few things from guests. Parking and entrances to the area will be limited. Guests will need to self-park in the Simba lot and enter Downtown Disney from the west entrance or walk from Harbor Boulevard on the east entrance. Guest’s temperatures will be screened and anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed entry. Cleaning and sanitation will be emphasized with hand sanitizer and hand washing stations in key areas. Guests must bring their own face masks and wear them at all times, except for when dining. Physical distancing will be expected, along with limited capacity. Hours will vary by location and could be limited. Cashless payment is recommended, if at all possible. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/06/heres-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-phased-reopening-of-downtown-disney-district-at-disneyland-resort-beginning-july-9/ Disneyland has started recalling cast members back from the furlough. The union representing food and beverage workers said that Disney was going to recall 775 cast members who will return to work on June 28th. The union represents more than 7,850 cast members. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/06/22/news-disneyland-has-started-recalling-cast-members-from-furlough/ Not everyone is as excited as we are that Disneyland is planning to reopen. Some of the Disneyland employee unions are demanding that the reopening be pushed back due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases. The union represent 17,000 of the 31,000 cast members at the resort. The unions want Disneyland to check temperatures of cast members daily, and test employees for COVID-19. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/06/19/disneyland-employee-unions-demand-that-the-anaheim-theme-parks-not-reopen-on-july-17/ June is National Safety Month, which recognizes the importance of safety in the workplace, as well as in communities through education, leadership, and advocacy. The Disney Parks Blog posted about this and introduced some of the cast members that help make Disney Parks safe around the world every month of the year. If you are interested in learning more about the health and safety team at Disney, check out the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/06/recognizing-national-safety-month-at-disney-parks-around-the-world/ For members of the military that purchased a Military Salute Ticket, the expiration dates have been pushed back to December 16, 2021. There will be blockout days of December 19th, 2020 through January 4, 2021 and March 26th, 2021 through April 11, 2021. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/06/19/news-disneylands-2020-military-salute-tickets-are-being-extended/ As we reported on last week, Orange County had lifted the order to wear face masks when out in public. On June 18th, the State of California stepped in and requires face masks to be worn “in common public indoor spaces and outdoors when distancing is not possible.” Children ages two and under, as well as “persons who are seated at a restaurant or other establishment that offers food or beverage service, while they are eating or drinking” is exempt from the order. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/06/18/news-california-requires-the-wearing-of-face-coverings-in-public-areas/ The Bowers Museum, which currently houses the “Inside the Disney Archives – 50 Years of Preserving the Magic” exhibition has reopened! If you are going to be in the area and want to check out the exhibit, they opened on June 19th. All people in the building will be required to wear a face mask and to practice social distancing. Bright Suns, nerds! Hosts Alyce and Laura have to correct* literally everything they said in Episode 17, but then it’s onward and up the Spire to what’s in the news and what we’re reading! First up, some final thoughts on the D23 coverage of The Rise of Skywalker, what Coca-cola and sporks have in common, and what we learned from Entertainment Weekly’s coverage of The Mandalorian. Galaxy's Edge: A Crash of Fate is making Alyce feel a little squirmy, but that might be because she’s old balls now. Honestly, it’s probably time that we tell her stop driving at night and put her in a home. Anyway, no spoiler warnings this week for A Crash of Fate or Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire. Given that neither of us had finished Black Spire at the time of recording, we won’t ruin anything for you. But if you haven’t read it, you should. And if you’re going to go to Galaxy’s Edge, you REALLY should read this book first. Finally, this week’s listener question is brought to us by our friend Timothy (@toastedzen): How did Obi-Wan’s relationship with Anakin affect whether Obi-Wan believes Anakin/Vader is redeemable or not? This served as a sort of jumping off point that led to a What-If discussion about the notorious master and padawan. Josh Hartnett? Shaun White? Are you listening? Alyce is desperate. There's a lot to recommend "Black Spire," the new novel by "Phasma" author Delilah S. Dawson. The strengths of character and character interaction in the latter book are on full display here as well, headlined by the spectacular Vi Moradi and the returning Cardinal. The push of Vi outside her comfort zone by Leia makes for some compelling storytelling, with a bit of a foundational challenge. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Beep Beep, Richie! This week in It, we find that Tim Curry is the Robin Williams of the horror genre. Regardless, Jim Carrey still has him beat when it comes to prosthetic teeth.Welcome to the first ever two-part episode of Hindsight is Horrifying, where we flip the script and discuss our very first “horror” movie!Regardless of how It has aged (*cough* BADLY *cough*), we stand by the fact that Pennywise is the OG killer clown from outer space, so all of you posers out there can stay seated alongside the not-real Slim Shadys. But seriously, guys, remember the old days of playing outside before all the rapists and killer clowns came along? On this oddly humorous episode about a blood-thirsty clown demon, @northfoggy and @Darth_Jader_ are delighted by the company of Young Adam (not to be confused with “Old Adam” or “Really Old Adam”). Listeners, we may have a problem. How many Adams are too many Adams? Does it make a difference if we met them in a Shakespeare group? We can only hope that Neil Degrasse Tyson has come up with an algorithm for such things.Along with the excitement of a brand new guest, Jason lauds us with a tale of his journey to Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland. And, in case you haven't heard, this incredible new installment of the Disney Universe includes a character invented by one of Darth's oldest friends! True story! Delilah S. Dawson, famous author and general badass, created the character of Vi Moradi, who you can read about in Phasma and actually meet at Galaxy's Edge! But you'll have to beat Darth Jader there, and she can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.IT forces us to ask an important question: If the Murtaugh's house was just around the corner from the sewer of Georgie's demise, where was our favorite cop buddy duo during this time of crisis in Derry? DAMN IT, RIGGS!And speaking of multiverses, teenyverses, and the like, Billy Madison and It have more in common than you might know. Our personal multiverse theory is that the clown from Billy Madison takes a nasty fall and sustains a head injury which transforms him into Pennywise. #trademarkedWe have many general observations after this particular episode:Comas can be cured by bike rides. For all the murders and dismemberment in It, at least the pharmacist is nice, unlike the evil druggist in It's a Wonderful Life. Some of you lucky listeners still don't understand the skill it took to live in a time before the “previous” button on TV remotes, and it shows.A large rock will kill nearly anyone (including Rick and Summer). It turns out, you don't need an inhaler or silver pellets to commit clown murder. Jonathan Brandis and John Ritter were awesome.Ultimately, the real mystery remains: besides the temptation of @DragonCon and girls, how could It lure you into a sewer? We have to know. Blow us up on the Countenance Novel, Tweeter, or a relevant social medium. Listeners, we've had a lot of fun tonight. But despite our funny remarks and nonchalance, don't think we haven't taken this episode seriously. We have the future, the past, and the present to discuss in this month’s episode of Hyperspace Theories. With Celebration Chicago in the rear-view mirror and December’s movie still half a year away, Kay, Tricia, and B.J. still have plenty of Star Wars to talk about. We begin with the Vanity Fair cover story on The Rise of Skywalker, featuring an article by Lev Grossman and photographs by Annie Leibowitz. As is typical for these pieces, we learned a few new character and planet names, but very little other new information – especially following so closely on the heels of similar interview answers given at Celebration. Likewise, Leibowitz’s composite style provides imagery presumably intended to convey the tone and spirit of the film, but they are traditional behind-the-scenes snapshots or on-set stills. But we did get much better looks at the costumes for Rey and Zorri Bliss, much to Kay’s excitement. Our storytelling segment travels over sixty years back in time on the Star Wars in-universe chronology, to the era when the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic – though the seeds of the Order’s demise already had begun to grow. The novel Master & Apprentice by Claudia Gray focuses on the teacher-pupil relationship between Qui-Gon Jinn and a teenage Obi-Wan Kenobi a number of years before The Phantom Menace. She spins a tale of trust and friendship, as well as prophecy, ethical dilemmas, and the political power of governments, leaders, corporations, and the Jedi. One of the new characters is Rael Averross, also an iconoclast to the Jedi Order – but in a quite different manner than Qui-Gon. What they have in common is that both are former apprentices to Dooku, who appears only briefly in flashbacks in Master & Apprentice. The fallen Jedi turned Sith Lord is central figure of the full-cast audiobook Dooku: Jedi Lost by Cavan Scott, released two weeks after Gray’s novel, which also includes Rael and Asajj Ventress from The Clone Wars. Between the two stories, the backstory to Episode I gains a considerable amount of new perspective. This month’s world-building segment takes us to Anaheim, California, where Tricia attended the official grand opening of the Galaxy’s Edge expansion at Disneyland. She shares her reactions to the new land, including the setting, inhabitants, food and drink, and of course the ride Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. She also gives a behind-the-scenes peek at the dedication ceremony and formal opening of the ride, with VIPs in attendance including Star Wars animation guru Dave Filoni and Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson. One prominent new character in Galaxy’s Edge is Resistance spy Vi Moradi, who appears in Delilah Dawson’s novel Phasma and August’s upcoming Black Spire. In the park, Vi is portrayed by cast member Alex Marshall-Brown, who has been sharing her experience on Instagram and Twitter.   Vanity Fair‘s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Links Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Ultimate Preview (Lev Grossman) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Photos: Meet the Characters and Go on Set (Cover Shoot / Photographs by Annie Leibowitz) Everything New Revealed in Vanity Fair’s The Rise of Skywalker Cover Story (Joanna Robinson) Star Wars: The Truth About Kylo Ren and Rey’s Connection (Joanna Robinson) Star Wars: Keri Russell Is the Roguish Zorri Bliss (Joanna Robinson) Star Wars: The Knights of Ren Make Their Long-Awaited Return (Joanna Robinson) Star Wars: Richard E.
