Disney has reimagined several of its rides and attractions for Summer 2026, so we share our reviews for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, Soarin' Across America, Smugglers Run with Mandalorian and Grogu, new Animation Courtyard and more! Fresh off another whirlwind Disneyland weekend, Tim and Audreyann recap a trip that had a little bit of everything: Bluey dance parties, Star Wars updates in Galaxy's Edge, ride breakdowns, long waits, tired kids, and the emotional rollercoaster of doing Disney with children in wildly different stages of life. They talk about the new Mandalorian version of Smugglers Run, the return of classic Star Wars characters, why staying “outside the Disney bubble” completely changed the vibe of the trip, and why the Bluey show may have been the highlight of the weekend. Plus, the reality of Disney trips with a stubborn 5-year-old, split-up ride strategies, Memorial Day crowds, and the moment they realized family Disney trips are starting to look very different than they used to.It's funny, chaotic, nostalgic, honest… and very relatable for Disney parents.

Jim and Len are joined by Sporkful host Dan Pashman to dig into the surprisingly rich stories behind Disney theme park food, including how a handwritten gumbo recipe in Tiana's Bayou Adventure connects to real culinary history. Along the way, they explore Imagineering's obsessive attention to detail, from menu design to discarded ideas that probably would've attracted bees (and at least one very confused operations team). A last-minute flight deal turns into a full-on Disneyland stress test: two tiny kids, huge crowds, a rainy day at Disney California Adventure, and one missing “best friend” pillow that nearly breaks everyone's heart. Jarrett is back to share how his family tackled their first Disneyland trip after recently doing Disney World and a Disney cruise and what actually changes when you swap Orlando's giant bubble for Anaheim's compact, walkable resort. We talk through the real planning decisions parents care about, like whether park hopping is worth it with a five-year-old and a two-year-old, how rope drop can happen by accident, and why Lightning Lane can feel like a lifesaver and a headache at the same time. Jarrett breaks down what worked, what didn't, and what surprised them most, from navigating stroller pinch points and record-level crowds to chasing Star Wars thrills in Galaxy's Edge. Rise of the Resistance downtime, rider swap limitations, and height requirement surprises all make the trip feel messy, but the wins are big. There's also plenty of Disneyland and DCA detail for Disney trip planning nerds: ride highlights like Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, Smugglers Run, Web Slingers, and kid-friendly coasters, plus food notes on better Disneyland churros, the breakfast Ronto Wrap, and a quirky popcorn bucket refill rule difference. Most importantly, we dig into the parenting side: toddlers melt down, do weird toddler things, and still walk away with memories that pop up months later. If you're planning Disneyland with young kids or comparing Disneyland vs Disney World, this one is for you.If you want to hear more about Jarrett's trip, go check out his blog post at https://jswordsmith.com/taking-toddlers-to-disneyland-the-real-story/.If you enjoyed the conversation, subscribe, share the episode with a Disney-loving friend, and leave a rating and review so more listeners can find us. What happens when you hand your Hollywood Studios plan to a roulette wheel on a July Tuesday? We tested it—standby only, all ride types in play, casual sit down dining, storms looming—and discovered how randomness collides with Florida heat, crowd flow, and the realities of queue waits. From a lucky late-morning villains show to a brunch at Oga's that fueled vibes more than bodies, we followed the wheel into Smugglers Run, character meets, Slinky Dog at peak heat, Tower of Terror salvation, and a Baseline Tap House reset that saved the evening. We closed with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, a quick AC break at Vacation Fun, and the sparkle of Fantasmic as fireworks framed the lessons learned.Along the way, we break down practical tactics for Hollywood Studios without Lightning Lane: anchor your day with one morning headliner, a true midday meal indoors, and an evening show; group Galaxy's Edge stops to reduce backtracking; use character experiences and theater shows as strategic AC breaks during storm windows; and respect the hidden time tax inside certain queues, especially Smugglers Run. We talk queue math, walk times, and why pretzels and charcuterie at Baseline can be the smartest thirty minutes you spend all day.If you crave spontaneity but don't want to sacrifice fun, this story-driven play-by-play will help you build rails around randomness. You'll hear where we went wrong, where we got lucky, and how small choices—shade, snacks, sequence—compound into either energy or exhaustion. Hit play, steal our hard-won tips, and then tell us: would you trust a wheel to plan your park day? Subscribe, share with a Disney friend, and leave a quick review to help more fans find the show.----Adventures & Mousecapades is a passion project from Alicea & Nathan Novak - two Seattleites addicted to The Mouse. Here's what a perfect day in Hollywood Studios looks like! Morning: Rope Drop Energy & Star Wars DreamsIf you arrive at rope drop, you'll find excitement buzzing through the crowd. The sun is barely up, but everyone is already strategizing. For many, the first mission of the day is navigating Batuu.I headed straight to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, where the sounds of droids and starships fill the air. There's nothing quite like wandering the market stalls as the land wakes up. I hopped in line for Rise of the Resistance, which—no matter how many times you've ridden—is jaw-droppingly immersive. From the First Order Star Destroyer hangar to the runaway escape pod, it's more than a ride; it's a cinematic moment you get to live. Then it was time for a little friendly competition on Smugglers Run. I'm not saying I was the best pilot the Millennium Falcon has ever seen, but I did manage to avoid crashing into anything major.Late Morning: Toy Story Fun & NostalgiaFrom the rugged outpost of Batuu, I strolled into the colorful world of Toy Story Land. Giant building blocks, oversized toy footprints, and Slinky Dog whizzing by—everything here feels like Saturday morning nostalgia.Slinky Dog Dash is the perfect family coaster: smooth, joyful, fast enough to thrill but still full of charm. Afterward, Toy Story Mania offered a chance to test my aim. I walked away with slightly sore arms and enormous pride at beating my own high score.Lunch: A Break on Sunset BoulevardFor lunch, I wandered to Sunset Boulevard, grabbing a quick bite under the palm trees. Street performers were out, adding a little showbiz sparkle to the day. If you're hungry and in a rush, the snack options here are ideal—plus, there's always the temptation of a Mickey pretzel.Afternoon: Thrills, Shows & A Touch of Disney MagicYou can't visit Hollywood Studios without feeling that mix of excitement and dread as you approach The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The eerie music, the flickering marquees, the feeling that the building is watching you—it's chilling in the best way. The drop sequence? Still one of the most delightfully unpredictable thrills in all of Walt Disney World.Next door, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith delivers a lightning-fast launch that sends you straight into a whirlwind of neon. If you love coasters, this is one of those rides that sticks with you.Needing a breather afterward, I caught a showing of For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. There's nothing quite like watching adults and kids alike belt out “Let It Go” with absolutely no shame. The humor and improv from the royal historians make this show a must-see.Evening: Pixar Place, Characters & Golden Hour MagicAs the sun dipped lower, I wandered around Pixar Place, where character meet-and-greets and playful photo ops made for perfect golden-hour memories. Hollywood Studios takes on a special glow in the evening—neon lights flicker to life, and the park feels cinematic in a whole new way.Dinner at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo hit the spot: creative dishes with that perfect Galaxy's Edge theming.Night: An Epic FinaleTo end the day, I found a spot for Fantasmic!, the iconic nighttime spectacular. Watching Sorcerer Mickey battle classic Disney villains while fountains, projections, and fireworks dance across the water is the perfect emotional wrap-up to the adventure. As the final burst of fireworks faded, I walked out with tired feet, a happily aching smile, and that warm, glowing feeling Disney seems to conjure so effortlessly.Final ThoughtsA day at Hollywood Studios is more than a park visit—it's stepping into your favorite movies, embracing nostalgia, chasing thrills, and soaking up wonderfully crafted storytelling from morning to night. Whether you're a Star Wars fan, a Pixar lover, a thrill-seeker, or just someone who appreciates Disney magic, Hollywood Studios delivers an unforgettable experience.
Kerrikal meets the Scoundrels for the first time! Can he hang with the big boys? We talk Smugglers Run 3, Mod probs, Many variations of The Stranger, and MOAR!!!!
Send us a textA tiki eruption, a budget gamble, and a cold brew quest turned this trip into a string of small wins. We kick things off at Trader Sam's—scoring a quick walk-up, catching the Krakatoa show, and nerding out on the punch's flavor build—then lay out exactly how a cheap motel can still work if you know your pace, your feet, and your priorities. From there, the map becomes edible: Ronto Wrap mornings, Snack-Adjacent lunches, and a split between Lamplight's stripped-down downstairs menu and Jazz Kitchen's rich, balanced plates. We share why a hurricane hits different after a long, muggy walk and how a single upsell at Magic Key Terrace turned into the right shareable at the right time.Coffee is its own storyline. Disneyland's cold brews are on a tear—Black Caf with Cocoa Puffs, the Bear Paw's pecan and salted maple cold foam, a mocha nitro that reads like grown-up dessert—and the sleeper favorite might be the Vietnamese iced coffee from the Joffrey's cart: strong, smooth, and just sweet enough. We compare notes with Walt Disney World and make the case that Anaheim is where the creativity lives, especially if you like your caffeine with texture and personality.Rides and shows bring the balance. Guardians Monsters After Dark is a worthy alternate cut; Haunted Mansion Holiday earns must-do status with a seamless Nightmare Before Christmas overlay; and the new Walt Disney presentation surprises with a thoughtful film, refreshed exhibits, and an animatronic that looks far better in person than on social clips. We talk rope drop choices that backfired and the multipass saves that followed, our best-ever piloting on Smugglers Run, and a rare, fully operational Rise of the Resistance run that reminded us why the hype exists. Through it all, cast interactions and small kindnesses stacked up—seat requests granted, a well-timed scare, and quick help at tap-in—reinforcing a simple truth: pace yourself, pick your musts, and let the rest be joy.If you had to choose one must-sip, one must-bite, and one must-ride from your last trip, what would you pick? Subscribe, share with a Disney friend, and leave a review with your three—let's build the ultimate shortlist together.

Johnny Kelly of Quiet Riot is my latest Talkin' Rock with Meltdown guest. If you're in the Detroit area, the Quiet Riot guys are playing at Smugglers Run on June 9th. We talk about his lighter tour schedule. He told me playing with QR is much different than he was used to playing with Type O Negative. He explained how they tour on a completely different circuit that is new to him. He recalled touring with Motley Crue in the mid-90s. "It was a tough tour for them" he said about the guys in Crue. He also shared some other tour horror stories. As far as playing with a guy like Rudy Sarzo? "It's surreal". He went into what it's like to play with such a rock legend. He admitted he was somewhat start struck, but now has become a friend. Johnny also tells me what Jizzy Pearl is like. I've never had the chance to meet him before, so I'm looking forward to it. Of course we had to talk a little hockey. He's a big hockey fan, so I had to ask him about his thoughts on the Stanley Cup playoffs. He also told me who he thinks the late Vinnie Paul would've been rooting for. He's in a new band called Eye Am. How did that start? What's going on with that project? Johnny fills us in on all things about that band too. Great to catch up with one of my favorite dudes! -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/

Great to catch up with Mark Kendall from Great White! They're playing Smugglers Run in Wyandotte on May 5th. We talked about some of his guitar and rock heroes. He told me some great advice he got from Scorpions Rudolph Schenker after a sub-par show "Mark, you have to play hard out there...kick ass!" Words to live by in anything you do! He spoke of meeting Ted Nugent and a story of a show they played with him. Again, he told me about the great mid-west rock fans. Great White has a new singer in 26 year old Brett Carlisle. As far as the first shows he played with the band "He blew us away!" He talked about working on new material with the band. "It's killer!" He said the kid is very mature for his age and has fit in with the band perfectly. He told me about new music and the demos they're working on. As far as newer bands are concerned, he mentioned Michigan's own, Greta Van Fleet. He liked the rawness of their sound and the casual nature of the guys. We talked about bands using tracks, and also trying to be prefect in the studio. That's just for starters....enjoy! -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
Slaughter comes to Smugglers Run in Wyandotte, Michigan this coming Saturday, but first, Mark Slaughter talked to me. It's been a while since Mark's been on Talkin' Rock, so it was great to get him on to talk about everything they have going on. He told me about the band, along with Dana Strum and Jeff "Blando" they're bringing drummer, Jordon Cannata. He's the young gun in he band as Mark explained. "What a great player! Young kid, he was born....on the day that our first record was put out." He talked about the many times Slaughter has played the Detroit area, including his first time through the Motor City with the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. "We did two nights with Alice Cooper, this is in 1986, where we opened up and played Hell Night and Halloween, opening for Alice Cooper." Those shows were at the legendary Cobo Hall. He mentioned some possible new music coming down the pike. "It doesn't take us long to write the songs, it's just about getting us in the same room." We talked about drummer Blas Elias "Blas is and always will be a big part of the band." We talked about a possible upcoming bio-pic and what he's discovered that will be a part of that. He talks about his life in Tennessee and why he's there. He told a crazy story about a trip to Lima, Peru earlier this year. That story is nuts! Oh, and bodyguards ripping seats out of rental cars...yeah, you read that right. See you guys at the show this Saturday! -Meltdown https://www.slaughterusa.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
