I grew up on Route 66 and have road trips in my veins. I've driven all over this great country, visited every single state and seen thousands of interesting things. Nothing inspires me more than a good road trip film — if you're the same way, check out one of this week's recommendations. All of the my picks on this week's list are pretty well known, which makes them so much fun to revisit. If you haven't seen one or all of them in a few years, what better time to revisit them?Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)There's nothing Pee-wee Herman loves more than his bicycle. Unfortunately for him, spoiled frenemie Francis Buxton loves it to, and hires someone to steal it for him. A distraught Pee-wee organizes a search party to find his bicycle and eventually hits the road and crosses multiple states in search of his irreplicable bike. Join Pee-wee and all the friends he meets along the way as he goes on his adventure. The Muppet Movie (1979)Life's like a movie, write your own ending! In the first full-length Muppet film, Kermit is convinced by a lost agent to head to Hollywood to fulfill his dream of making millions of people happy. Along his journey, Kermit meets a joke-telling bear named Fozzie, a weirdo named Gonzo, a rock band called the Electric Mayhem (led by Dr. Teeth), and the world's most beautiful women, Miss Piggy. Will Kermit and his friends reach Hollywood before Doc Hopper catches Kermit and forces him to become the mascot for his restaurant? I hope so, because there are a lot more Muppet movies after this one! The NeverEnding Story (1984)While hiding from school bullies, young Bastion acquires a book promising a never ending story and skips school, hiding in the attic to read it. The book tells the story of Atreyu and his quest to save Fantasia from a darkness known as The Nothing. The more Bastian reads, the more it seems his own life is becoming entertwined with the book itself! Featuring a hit theme song and a luck dragon, The NeverEnding Story is a journey not to be missed. National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)If you've ever gone on a road trip, either as a child or a parent, you'll relate to the Griswolds as they drive across the country in their new station wagon from Chicago to Wallyworld! Directed by Harold Ramis and starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Anthony Michael Hall, and Dana Barron, and Randy Quaid, and featuring cameos from comedians including Eugene Levy and John Candy, among others. As a kid I identified as oldest sibling Rusty, and as a parent I can't help but see a little bit of Clark in the rearview mirror.Spring is here and there's no better time to roll down your windows, put the pedal to the metal, and hit the open road. This week's pick is the turn of one of our longest supporters, Kent! And he's chosen THE road trip movie that spawned a franchise and influenced all that came after. It's the 1983 black comedy, National Lampoon's Vacation! The movie began as an adaptation of John Hughes's short story, “Vacation '58,” published in National Lampoon magazine. The screenplay was penned by Hughes himself, marking one of his early ventures into Hollywood comedy. Directed by Harold Ramis, the film starred Chevy Chase as the hapless family patriarch, Clark Griswold. Chase's improvisational comedy style helped shape the film's humor, with Beverly D'Angelo, Anthony Michael Hall, and Dana Barron rounding out the Griswold family. The road trip concept, centered on the Griswold family's disastrous journey to the fictional Wally World amusement park, resonated with audiences, blending slapstick humor with relatable family dynamics. Principal photography took place across various U.S. locations, including Arizona, California, Colorado, and Missouri, to capture the authentic feel of a cross-country road trip. Lynne is getting ready for a road trip, so the sisters recall their most memorable road trips from when they were growing up ones they've taken with their nuclear families. Nancy recalls the time she learned the hard way that Kathy does not drive after ten pm. The sisters share a story about the first recorded road trip ever, road trip best practices for moms and share the best burger recipe.WHATS FOR DINNER:Steakhouse Burgers (from Once Upon a Chef)INGREDIENTS2 pieces white sandwich bread, crusts removed and cut into 1⁄4-inch pieces 1⁄3 cup milk21⁄2 teaspoons kosher salt1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper3 garlic cloves, minced11⁄2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce2 tablespoons ketchup3 pounds 80 to 85% lean ground beef3 scallions, white and green parts, very nely sliced (optional) 8 hamburger bunsINSTRUCTIONSPreheat the grill to high heat.In a large bowl, mash the bread and milk together with a fork until it forms a chunky paste. Add the salt, pepper, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and ketchup and mix well.Add the ground beef and scallions and break the meat up with your hands. Mix everything together until evenly combined. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and form compact balls. Flatten the balls into 3⁄4-inch patties about 41⁄2 inches across. Form a slight depression in the center of each patty to prevent the burgers from puffing up on the grill.Oil the grilling grates. Grill the burgers, covered, until nicely browned on the rst side, 2 to 4 minutes. Flip burgers and continue cooking for a few minutes more until desired doneness is reached. Before serving, toast the buns on the cooler side of the grill if desired.Freezer-Friendly Instructions: e uncooked burgers can be frozen for up to three months. (Freeze the burgers on a baking sheet or plate so their shape sets, then transfer them to a sealable plastic bag for easy storage.) Defrost the burgers overnight in the refrigerator prior to serving and then cook as directed.

Decatur, Alabama police get a call for a well check on 36-year-old Cindy Crow. WAFF reports a family member believed Crow to be 8-months pregnant. Crow, however, looked like she had lost a lot of weight, overnight. The family member, a sister, told police that she had seen Crow leaving her home, with a large, white trash bag in the back floorboard of her car. In the home, bloody feminine products were found in the trash. Police contacted Crow at work, where she agreed to go to the hospital to prove that she was not pregnant. While waiting for the test results, Crow gave an officer consent to search her cell phone, where he found the app LIFE360. This allowed the detective to trace the route Cindy Crow took when she left her home with the white trash bag. Using information garnered from the LIFE360 app, detectives found a location with a dumpster, Wally World Mini-Mart. Investigators searched of the inside of the dumpster and found the trash bag containing the deceased body of a newborn baby girl. It was stuffed in the bottom of the dumpster under several other large bags of trash. Cindy Crow was arrested and so far is charged with abuse of a corpse. I was at WallyWorld yesterday…while in line to cash out with a LIVE cashier, I overheard behind me, a couple, slightly older than me, mid to late 60's my guess, state that “there just isn't good music being made anymore!” I quickly turned around and told them that their assessment was not true. Well, it is if you are only listening to the lamestream mainstream radio…even satellite radio seems to leave a great deal to be desired. Corporate radio is a formula with no ART left in it. The ART is left to us online renegade radio shows. I asked them if they had internet access, they said yes, I told them to search their favorite genre online and get surprised by the hundreds of shows there is out there. I could see them growing annoyed with me and my interjecting into their conversation…but I didn't care!
