(Island County Historical Society) The promontory known as Admiralty Head, on the west coast of Whidbey Island in Washington, juts out into the east side of the entrance to Admiralty Inlet, a busy passage that leads to Puget Sound. Admiralty Head’s light station went into service in January 1861. It was originally known as Red Bluff Lighthouse. Because of the development of Fort Casey in the early 1900s, the lighthouse had be built in a different position in 1903. The new building's striking architecture is often referred to as “Spanish-style.” Photo: Admiralty Head Lighthouse after 2020 restoration work. Photo by Jim Castaneda, Twisted Firs Photography Wayne Clark and Patrick Hussey(Keepers of Admiralty Head Lighthouse) With changes in the shipping lanes, the lighthouse was decommissioned in 1922. The lighthouse was opened as part of Fort Casey Historical State Park in the early 1960s. Today, the nonprofit group Keepers of Admiralty Head Lighthouse and the Admiralty Head Docents Program preserve and interpret the lighthouse. Wayne Clark is the president of Keepers of Admiralty Head Lighthouse, and last year he received a volunteer of the year award from Washington State Parks.  With over 20 years of Leadership experience, and the last 8 focusing on 1-2-1 and group Leadership and Career development I'm now aiming to reach and help more people develop themselves and the impact they have by finding fulfilment in the work they do, right now and in the future. Having overcome challenges and adversity in bullying, drug misuse all the way through to hospitalisation I've come to the realisation that I need to share more of what I do with more people in order to help them move forward in their live – I'm helping people lost in the corporate 9-5 get creative with the work they do and create their version of incredible It's about getting people to snap out of the mediocrity of work they feel they've been told to do and helping them find fulfilment from where they are right now and start creating the impact they're designed to. Short history – work across multiple industries and multiple continents including managing the customer services for Time and Fortune magazine whilst working in the Netherlands.  Hospitalised twice in the last 4 years, and over come life threatening circumstance resulting in having an ileostomy for 20 months. Dealt with work place/professional depression for an extended period of time which resulted in an over dose at 24 on recreational drugs which onlymy awareness that I had a purpose in life pulled me through to do what I do now. Now Coach, trainer, public speaker and soon to be author and would love to share with your audience as much value on these subjects as I can.  Head over to www.nathansimmondscoaching.com Don't forget to check out Talk About It Friday's Website at www.wayneclark.online  #Talkaboutitfriday

"There is no greater joy than to share what you love with those who appreciate it." - Bernard JanBernard Jan is a pen name of an author - a novelist and a poet - from Croatia. As an indie author, he has published two books in English to this day: A World Without Color, a moving and honest novella about the last three days he spent with his cat, and the gentle story that sheds light on the plight of baby seals in Canada hunted for their fur Look for Me Under the Rainbow. He has written his first books at the beginning of war in Croatia in 1991, amidst the air alerts and illusory attempts when he wanted to believe and think life is normal, that everything is alright with the world. In Croatian he has published five novels, two novellas, one book of poems and an essay, along with several articles. His passion for entertainment resulted in his becoming a partner of Tom's Music Place established in 2009 by his friend Thomas Carley Jr. with the goal to respect the music. His need to help others came to the fore during his volunteering years: first in advocating for environmental protection, and then his volunteering, activism, work and advocacy for animal rights to the present day. He did some volunteering for the refugees, too, because suffering does not know about the borders and when it comes within your reach, in your yard, you simply have to do something. As part of his animal advocacy activities, it has been a great honor and pleasure for him to translate Eternal Treblinka: Our Treatment of Animals and the Holocaust by Charles Patterson into Croatian language. For more information please visit his website www.bernardjan.com or follow him on Twitter, Goodreads and LinkedIn.Wayne, you have also something about me here on my website: https://www.bernardjan.com/about-me Don't forget to check out Talk about it Fridays website at www.wayneclark.online #Talkaboutitfriday

Who am I? It's a reasonable question! I am a happily married man, I have three brilliant children and an adopted daughter.I also have Autism, I wasn't diagnosed with it until I was in my mid-thirties. The Autism has been a little bit of a stumbling block, prior to being diagnosed I was medicated for something else and that made journeying into the world even harder. I mentioned I was married, I am, to a wonderful woman called Emma! Without her I wouldn't be the man I am today, and I certainly would not have my children. Emma has helped me through a great deal of woes, from depression to severe panic attacks that have left me physically unable to move... What I do? I spend a fair bit of my time doting on my family. I think for all of us, our children are the reason we get up in the morning - the other I do is write.Expectations is the first book I have written by myself, the book isn't a huge, being around 67k words it's just smaller than average. The story is set in a medieval world that is quickly becoming an industrial one and as a reader you get to experience that from the protagonists point of view. Sal is a woodcarver by trade and uses that to finance her travel around her kingdom, for the most part her interactions are civil, but they can turn bad... Explicit sex is in the book and graphic murder. I won't go into detail because I think it's better that a reader breath the world a writer wrote, but I will say it is not for the faint of heart! If anyone has a question, please do ask; I'll be more than happy to answer. You can find me on most social media platform.Twitter @Drew_Lee_Wilkes don't forget to check out our website at www.wayneclark.online #Talkaboutitfriday
