Laserdiscs! Remember those things? Govier is pumped for his dated, but healthy new collection of LD's. Jeremy Irons appreciation is strong on this show in case you didn't know. Luke defends the acting of Campbell Scott who is the son of the legendary figure George C. Scott. Get ready for laughs when George lights up a heater in an old interview. Luke may have beef with Cameron Crowe & Citizen Dildo. Somehow Dave Pirner gets in the mix because he was in Reality Bites, but really his composition for Chasing Amy's title credits is what really stands out when Pirner comes to mind. Steve finally gets to talk about the non-fiction book called Among The Bros. There is no way you will be bored or zone out when you hear this story. It's funny, terrifying & absurd all at once. Also get ready to not be shocked when Steve reads off the names of well known people who come from a fraternity background known for its racist tendencies across multiple generations. We got your emails! Joe writes us for the first time in a bit & he's got a brief email about the Telegram app & the possible scumbag Pavel Durov who owns it. Mark Zuckerberg through the United States government recently, but neither of these parties can be trusted. Govier recalls the 1995 classic film Full Body Massage starring Mimi Rogers & Cocktail's Bryan Brown. There is a classic scene involving Bryan Brown asking Mimi's character,"Is this how Doug does it?". It was constantly repeated by the entire crew of this show for many years starting back in 2004. Check it out if you've never seen it! Our most dedicated podcast lover Mr. Pink emails the show! Pink has an undying passion for Luke's sexy vocal prowess. Cinema 9 Podcast host & indie horror director Eric Branstrom emails the show about his latest Sopranos rewatch & has questions about personal experiences with mob ties. Luke makes it clear he does not want to be near a dead body. Would you rat your friends to avoid jail time? Luke & Steve learn about a shared family history related to the OSS formed by the United States government back during World War II. Govier still cannot find that damn clip from Full Body Massage. We're still here once more! How dumb are we? We're locked in hot & heavy with Luke schooling Steve from the onset over Derrick Coleman's jersey number. How about that? Govier lives in Canada now & has been watching Luke play softball from across the Detroit River. Luke shares some new comedy with us from some guy named Dan Cummins. Luke saw Hope Davis at a bar once in NYC. Leigh Ann pops in to say hello to everybody! Govier loves to laugh at the whiskey laugh & then the gratuitous cursing from the guy who robs the party store in Robocop. It's so funny! Luke loves boomer TV & has wistful nostalgia for the Murder She Wrote & Columbo days. Then Cancer Boy from Kids In The Hall's Brain Candy shows up. Govier found himself in the crosshairs of someone's rage on the day of the Trump shooting. Never forget that Richard Simmons died that day too. The Joker premise of it's all part of the plan from The Dark Knight remains true today. Govier wanted to share his experience chatting with his co-worker about the Democratic National Convention & how the goal posts for meaningful change can be vastly different for each person depending on several factors. Luke & Govier don't seem to understand each other, which happens on this show. Can you listen to or watch shows where they review a movie in-depth even though you haven't seen it? The 4th of July seems like a distant memory now that Joe Biden has suddenly become feeble. Yet, the show presses on with hard hitting topics such as who had the best holiday experience. Luke wants to know if Pizza Hut was ever decent or not. The debate comes up for a minute, but there isn't much else to be said about it other than playing a stumblin', bumblin' Biden clip on YouTube. Mike still loves the movie Election (1999) even if he is known for being an Alexander Payne stan. Luke's kid knows how to swim already! Steve had a blast on the 4th in West Virginia with which opens up the debate about fireworks. Are they hell on earth or is it overhyped trash? Mike is know a legit resident in Canada & he spent hif 4th of July moving. Can you guess the monthly rent on Mike's new dump in Windsor, Ontario? Luke wants to know if anybody has seen Dev Patel's Monkey Man yet. A Time Bandits remake is coming out on Apple Plus. Luke is not a fan of Terry Gilliam's movies including the classic Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas! WOW DUDE! We got your emails ya'll! Mr. Pink is in the house first with a checklist verifying the United States is absolutely working in the way it was intended to by certain people. Nobody can forget the time when the Democratic Party lined up & sold out entirely to ensure Joe Biden's victory in 2020 eliminating Bernie Sanders from contention forever Mike is crapping his pants because now that he's living in Canada as a legit resident, he receives access to all the wonderful social support nets in place. Happy days are here again! Insurance billing thrives off the misery they bring every time they sent an unexpected bill from visits that took place months ago. Finn Gurrer & Finn Gurrer Junior send in separate emails. One of them to curse Luke & the other one to curse everybody else. The people of New Brunswick have been developing brain problems that can only be explained by the local families & their companies who poison the area. Also, the Crypt Keeper has a new competitor on the show. Watch out! Mike wants to know if Steve ever heard of the Sega Channel that was online streaming games back in 1995. Steve is quite familiar with the Republican Attorney General's Association which is another example of a highly organized attempt to push an extreme agenda that puts the needs of corporations over the need of the people. Mr. Pink is back in the house after a hiatus from emailing. His message is filled with show moments recalled over the last few months of listening. Plus Pink wants to thank the show for providing new media information sources beyond the mainstream. Was Pink able to stick with it or did life get too hard? Find out by listening you spoon-fed bozos. Does a rueben sandwich have a proper rating? Is Stoicism overrated? Is Brett Butler's Hey Nadine the apex of the show?! Louis Gossett Jr. is greatly missed & apparently everybody needs to see Diggstown. Distractions abound with Toy Soldiers & KIDS Incorporated taking over the show briefly. Donald Sutherland is no more & we all owe him a tip of the cap for his efforts during his life. John Candy as Orson Welles. You can thank us later. If you're crapping on floors, make sure you use paper towel. Luke does his very first impression on the show which may be an Irish accent or possibly anything else. Finn Gurrer goes DEEP with his latest email. Luke is not a fan anymore. Which Ice Cube album is his best & why is Westside Connection deserving of more love? Luke wants everybody to watch the new documentary about human rights catastrophes in Gaza called The Night Won't End. Steve followed through on his commitment to check out the prison drama Oz from 1997. Was it lame? Did it ring true? Is the truth somewhere in between? Luke rubbed elbows with some of the best actors in American film in over the last 30 years in his old life back in New York City. Zelijko Ivanek who everybody will know from his face on the cover of this episode & Frank Langella who has had a career filled with memorable roles. This week we only have one & it's from a Finn Gurrer disciple! When's the last time you thought of Yahoo? Are they dead yet? The fellas ponder which time is the ideal time to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon. Black Rock & Citadel Securities are planning to start their own stock exchange in Texas. It's all about the state you're standing in apparently. The neoliberals, who go by their pen name Democrats, have a new voice working full time now on their behalf: Robert DeNiro. Govier found a new clip from a song with a dumb sounding voice along the lines of Collective Soul & Color Me Badd. Welcome to hell! Election 2024 is ratcheting up which is why Joe Biden tried to get tough on immigration on the Mexican border. Luke has a numerical solution for what Biden can do to get in the good graces of rational human voters. Remember Macklemore!? He's got a new song on the scene called Hind's Hall that was actually brought up by Luke with the message focusing on the Israeli genocide in Palestine. That leads to Govier's memory of Macklemore hanging out with former President Obama for an opioids thingy. Awkward! Steve has an under the radar reminder that is over 200 years old from George Washington who even back in the 1790's had concerns about partisanship in the USA. Did you know Dr. Phil has a new network he's launching called Merit Street Media. The good doctor is here to find the middle ground in mainstream media. Steve does a hilarious impression of that Texas doofus. Have a chuckle when you watch the video of someone throwing a milkshake at Brexit douche Nigel Farage. Everybody is crushed that Bill Walton recently shook off his mortal coil. Steve & Mike are big fans & Steve offers up a tribute with some of Walton's all-time doozies as an NBA broadcaster. We'll miss you Bill! Of course when Walton comes up, so does the Grateful Dead who Walton followed religiously as a concert-goer. Luke wasn't sure if he knew a single song by them which means Luke's mind was ready for some enlightenment on the matter. Steve loves the show Hacks & he wants to know why Govier is watching the prison drama Oz from the early 2000's instead. Joe checks in with some possible show title replacement options including a classic crack about Luke's movie passion. Steve has a reminder about the incredible resourcefulness of your local public library. The Trip starring Steve Coogan & Rob Brydon never gets old for the fellas when it comes to Anthony Hopkins & Michael Caine impressions. Mike's first job ever was at a bowling alley & golf range fun place where he had ot be at work picking up golf balls at 6AM. Finn Gurrer emails in to ask which one you got: one bourbon, one scotch or one beer? George Thorogood style. The word is out that there are plenty of micro plastics floating around in the testes of male humans & dogs as well. Welcome to hell. Ticketmaster & Live Nation are finally having their monopoly challenged by the federal government. Eddie Vedder is celebrating today! The guy from Band of Horses is from James Island in the Charleston South Carolina area. Steve has a classic tale about drinking with that dude one night long ago with friend of the show David. Mike is then reminded of when some bars in the Charleston area were open until 5AM which is a terrible idea. Braid & Minus The Bear show tales ensue as well. Steve & Mike recall the summer adventure of witnessing major league baseball underachiever Yoan Moncada live at the Charleston Riverdogs minor league ballpark back in 2015. Steve's frustrated about the foul call disparity in every NBA playoff series the Indiana Pacers are involved in this playoff season. It's a real hoot! Patrick Mahomes is trying to hide his Kermit The Frog voice in public. Jerry Seinfeld's newest film Unfrosted isn't high on the watch list for Steve or Luke. Luke is pissed about Jerry Seinfeld's outdated ways. Govier was losing interest in Michigan football back in his 20's, but he didn't see it all the way through. Follow your own voice! What's more depressing? Catholic priest abuse or the Holocaust? We're sorry for forcing you into making choice in this nightmare scenario. Govier recalls the crappy Ford Escort he wanted to buy after his high school graduation, but his friend Brandon ended up buying it with his graduation money. Steve remembers cramming five people into that thing. Did your parents drive an Escort once a upon a time? We got emails! Finn Gurrer must find out how the fellas feel about constipation. Then the back up of backed up tales begins. Govier's second stepdad had crappy issues plus he looked like Gordy from ABC Warehouse. The infamous Jason Rehnlund from high school will always be associated with the NES Tetris music from a song created many moons ago about the man himself & his annoying ways. Steve found a doppelganger for our friend Chad named Professor Green. Bill Burr gave Bill Maher a hard time on Maher's podcast recently and Luke loves it. Remember Gus Macker basketball tourneys? Govier shares memories from all the cars he had as a high schooler. Luke wants everybody to know how funny Sam Morrill is. It's a new episode so of course there is more Israeli/Palestinian rhetoric for you all with still no peace in sight. Shopper's Drug Mart in Toronto wants volunteers to work for free. We got ourselves a guest host this week! Luke is out of town which opens the door for our Cinema 9 pal Eric Branstrom to guest host with Govier 7 Steve. Sean Connery said some real bogus stuff about women 30 years ago to Barbara Walters. This is not a deep fake! Eric received an apology from a former high school bully as walked outside of a gym. Eric boned up on Israeli politics just for his appearance. We have 5 emails! How about them apples? Dave sent in a treatise on Boeing & the outdated efforts of their aerodynamic engineering efforts. Dave also has heard Collective Soul's Shine more than once since the song first appeared on the show a couple weeks ago. How many of you still have your gigantic CD album case with all of your CDs in it? Govier has a new addition to the Brett Butler/Shelby Foote/Steve Collins southern drawl acapella group. Govier wants to know if Eric & other parents recognize the futility of having kids when the United States is in decline in the 21st century. Aaron Rodgers says AIDS was perpetrated by the U.S. government, but Govier is more concerned about busting up a misnomer about the so-called patient zero of AIDS. That is simply not true. Joe's email is written in astonishment about Govier's mom's ex-boyfriend from the 1980s. Finn Gurrer writes his shortest email ever offering up a tag-team showdown including four different one hit wonders from the late 1990s & early 2000s. Another email from Joe has to do with classic rock hits that are the most popular state by state. How do you define the parameters of what makes the cut for classic rock? Metallica, The Ramones & Blondie: rank them in order. Govier recalls breaking into his stepdad's bedroom back in high school. Lots of goodies in there. Steve has a John Eastman update for everybody. Medicaid enrollment is shrinking across the country & Govier is one of the eligible people who is getting screwed. Plus Govier was trapped in a Target lockdown this week for an hour against his will. Some teacher from high school had a very loose policy when it came to keeping her vagina under wraps while reading Beowulf to the class.Eric is not a fan of the latest Arby's marketing campaign. The old days of Go West back in the 1990s is where it's at. When is the last time you had a Jamocha shake? Does Arby's suck? Will Smith & Martin Lawrence were pushing Bad Boys 4 at Coachella which is largely populated by well to-do social media influencers who are busy recording instead of experiencing life in real-time. Eric is baffled by castles while Steve wonders if there is a real castle with an actual moon door from Game Of Thrones. We love you all! MIke's audio starts out trash for 3 minutes, then all systems are normal. Have no fear! Cinema 9 did a movie called The Island last week. Everybody was pissed. Louis Gossett Jr. bit the big one recently, but apparently there will be no Iron Eagle series marathon going down. Govier's mom's boyfriend from 1988 had an ancient sundial in his yard plus he wanted to be a swashbuckling pirate like Errol Flynn. You guys go Joe Lowry or Joe Yori? Which movies do you own outright in your Amazon video library? Govier has 12 or so in his library as the guys review Mike's library. Did Govier overdraft his bank account to purchase the 1993 rollerblading classic Airborne. Tom Green is in town just in time for opening day in Detroit while Tim Robinson is also doing a live show the same day. Get ready for some John Tesh Roundball Rock! Carrot Top is apparently tailor made for Eyes Wide Shut parties. Govier provides a quick appraisal of the hotels of downtown Detroit. One story didn't go too well for him. What's the better show: Detroiters or I Think You Should Leave? We got your emails! Travis from Cinema 9 & 93-94 A Music Pod kicks it off. Travis was there in the 90's, but he wants to know what type of animal all the guys would like to be if they could. Plus it's time for another round of name that random guy from Hartland High School in 1997 who had a pointless nickname like Horse. Get ready for Uncle Luke & some Doo Doo Brown coming your way! YouTube etiquette when it comes to liking or subbing videos is a thing. Luke has a problem with Sand Cranes. The adventures of Finn Gurrer continue! Where will Finn take us this week? That's what you're about to find out. Kirk Cousins or Finn's cousins? Steve has your upcoming 2024 solar eclipse report for those of you in the United States who want to catch a glimpse of this unique event. Steve is our astronomer of record. If he doesn't know, ask Google. Mike reminisces about the 1994 eclipse that his science class went outside to see in May of 1994. Steve also has thoughts on the new True Detective, including the music choices. Of course we couldn't end the show without sneaking in more Israeli/Palestinian murderous chaos. 7 members from chef Jose Andres charity called World Central Kitchen were targeted with drone strikes by the IDF & Jose Andres is furious about it. This is a great show! Lots of laughs in this one. Govier mixed up Montessori with monsignor in tribute to monsignor's bone. There's a garbage crisis in our towns & Brother Tom is there for us. Then the Brett Butler "Hey Nadine" repetition begins. There's more Brett Butler to come in this show. Mike was on 93-94: A Music Podcast which unleashes a treasure trove of memories related to high school bullies. Even Luke had his own problems. We got two emails! Also, we try to get into P-Diddy's scumbag ways, but we get delayed. Mr. Pink helps us spell commingled! Then more Brett Butler bits. Govier is pissed because Luke hasn't seen David Fincher's Mank. It's right up his alley. Then all this leads to Collective Soul meets Color Me Badd. Finn Gurrer has a lot of f-words for us including a band with that word. David Cross' bit about literally unleashes Steve's list of common grammar mistakes plus his long awaited list of actual horny G.I. Joe character names. Joe Lieberman died & the media is licking his bum, but Steve sets the record straight. We love you all! Steve's audio file didn't save because he disconnected too soon or something (I check out early on this episode) so I had to clip the audio second by second from each time Luke & I were talking in proximity to Steve's voice. It took too long. I finally said screw it. I just uploaded the single track of all three voices at once. I don't know if it sucks or not. It's quarter to 4 in the morning & I'm toast. Steve has the breakdown of the Supreme Court's latest ball washing of Donald Trump's zany transcontinental litigation shenanigans. It seems that technological advances like lane assist for drivers may be reducing the competency of the masses. Luke serves Mike because Mike brought up the same Ben Mendelsohn story from the 2012 film Killing Them Softly like he always does. We sneak in a Bud Light commercial break this week. Don't skip it! Undecided voters are real and the proof if in the endless advertising that defines the culture of the United States. Joe writes in because he knows his email makes the show that much better! Bill Pullman is hot this week! He makes his second podcast appearance of late playing the dumbest saxophone you will ever hear in David Lynch's film Lost Highway. We got your emails! Anybody out there ever been busted by a cop who taps on your car door in the middle of nowhere after dark? We might have a few stories to share. Mr. Pink is feeling good about himself because the news continues to reinforce his ability not to be duped. No bible is going to stop him either. Finn Gurrer continues the saga of his work relationships and the lack of security that continues to plague his operation. Security protocols are in place. Then Steve goes on a rant about the blatant disrespect of public billboards. It turns out many Americans don't know that they have leverage on the whole when it comes to their wages. Steve watched True Detective season 1 with his brother recently. They found Woody Harrelson doing some serious jaw-based acting in that season. Govier was out on the west side of the state of Michigan and he loved it. He met a person named Ram. A non-binary person who educated Govier & his wife. Travis doesn't want to talk about politics or Mitch McConnell staring off into space. Why do people in Kentucky continuously vote for him? Travis teaches us that expressing to others that he dodged a bullet when it comes to having kids may be offensive to some. The kid chatter leads to a discovery that Chazz Palminteri is alive, but unfortunately resembles Skeletor. Find out which movie was hands down the selection for best performance by Chazz. AI seems to be on everybody's mind, but what is AI really? Mike's got some new drops brewing thanks to his recent It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia binge. Govier thinks he fixed and improved Steve's audio. Was he right or is he an idiot? We leave it to you to determine if you hear a difference in his audio this week. There was a Specialist who acted as a drill sergeant who filled Steve and all the guys he served next to with a bunch of false inspiration. Nobody seems to remember the movie War Games and Joshua. Wanna know what Whopper Streakers are? We also have the story of Steve's first time taking hallucinogens. More trips down memory lane take the fellas to Panama City Beach 2001 where there was a poop covered blanket and gibberish talk from blacked out neurons. Have you ever played full functioning video game consoles while on a road trip driving? Do you know the difference between the Pontiac Grand Prix and the Grand Am? Luke finally figured out who Dan Le Batard is after hearing a quality interview with one of the writers from The Bear. Have you seen The Bear? Don't miss Steve's latest Werner Herzog impersonation! Govier and Steve rediscover a classic YouTube video to share with Luke featuring the legends of voice overs and the world of movie trailers. It's a doozy! We've got emails! Emailer Joe checks in with some follow-up thoughts related to emailer Dave's epic airline's logistics email from last week. This one's about the mechanics this time. Mr. Pink emails in about AI and which impending disaster will do us in first: climate change or AI? Alex the African Grey Parrot is smarter than all of us. Listen and learn. Whatever we do here, the Always Sunny clip about being blasted in the ass by Republicans or Democrats says it all about the limited options available to most Americans when it comes to government representation. Luke really has a problem with ticking clocks. Govier swallowed a quarter in 2001 while playing quarter bounce. He isn't quite sure where or when it finally came out of him. Jimmy Fallon gets on Steve and Luke's nerves very quickly when it comes to celebrity impressions. The weather is a source of frustration in Michigan for Luke and Govier today, which leads to complaints about how awful Lightning Crashes by Live was and still is. We love you all! We are very pleased with our little world that we have formed together thanks to this show. This talk show has little substance to it without you listening and emailing. SORRY ABOUT THE DROPS OVER THE FIRST 30 MINUTES! They are partially drowned out until Steve mentions it. After that the drops are superb as always. Mike graduated from his masters program finally and Steve wants him to know there are night classes available at The Citadel. Turns out Mike interviewed former Georgetown basketball coach Craig Esherick there back in 2004. We have plenty of emails today! Joe just wanted to say hello while Eric emailed in a new audio addition for the show. That reminds Steve & Govier of Cabbage Ass from their old time Charleston days. The Clash of the Titans is also involved. Our pal Dave the pilot sends in a well thought out email revealing the inside story on what happens when your flight is delayed. What Dave has to say will blow your mind! Dave's email reminds us about how long it has been since there was a serious commercial jet disaster in the United States. It's never been safer to fly than right now. There was a place in the fella's hometown of Hartland called The Oasis. It was a truck stop where you could ask for mayo on the side if you know what I mean. Mike lived with a family he didn't know at all who housed him while he sold books door to door in Texas back in 2001. Luke has a lot of admiration for Michelle Yeoh's Oscar speech. Luke also realized how hard it is to do our show when Govier isn't there to place those drops to break up the monotony of Luke's rants. Sid sent in a great email filled with thought-provoking questions for all of us to partake in such as how do you talk to someone who is completely obtuse when it comes to climate change? Over the weekend Mike hung out with his pal Cory & they were saying that they have accepted that creating meaningful, tangible change in the Unites States is a lost cause and we should all try to enjoy the time we have on this planet with an eye toward donating to causes when you can while still expecting little to change. Ron Perlman got pissed recently and made some hardcore comments related to the current strike in Hollywood. It turns out Luke is not a fan of David Mamet's writing in his films. The last part of the show focuses on the memories of our friends who perished too soon back in 2001 & 2003 in separate car accidents. We miss our friends Brandon & Ryan to this day. The guys have a lot of vivid memories from that time that they share freely with all of us. We love you all! Steve spent the weekend in southeast Ohio watching NOFX and other classic punk bands from his glory days. It turns out that even punk festivals are filled with capitalists trying to make more than just a buck. Steve flew Breeze Airlines which is the latest failure in regional airlines out to make your life hell. Govier loves the film Sexy Beast, but Steve loves the banana hammock in the opening even more! Luke wants to share a clip from Pod Save America where you can judge for yourself what has Luke so annoyed. After the clip, Luke & Steve have more to say about the vote shaming that gets turned into a binary argument about third party voters giving their vote to Trump or Biden. Govier gets reminded of what 73's means in the ham radio world, which he has more experience than many who know him may have realized. Then it's time for your emails! And you all had A LOT to say this week which makes Govier very happy. Travis wants to tie a bow on this multi-week confusion about film composers. Then Joe follows through on Govier's request for him to email the show. Joe made up his very own homemade Immaculate Grid which is all the rage online right now. Join in and play in real-time! Then Sean checks in with more commentary on the golf courses are a big waste of space discussion from last week. He also wants to push Luke further on his Woody Allen perspective plus a final thought about Saudi Arabia taking over the PGA Tour. Then Mr. Pink is curious about the current Supreme Court and how he was living under a false pretense. Steve then shares a valuable clip from the podcast known as Amicus With Dahlia Lithwick that coincides with Mr. Pink's email. Then Eric emails about his shame related to a current Kevin Spacey project overseas that he is interested in seeing even though Spacey is canceled. Eric wants to know which person who was canceled didn't deserve it? Does anybody on the show have someone in mind? Finally Dave emails us to make sure we talk about Blair's basement one more time. We love you all! We are very pleased with our little world that together we have formed thanks to this show. This show has little substance to it without you listening and emailing. We come right out with our lone email for the week with Travis who wants to know how we would spend the day with Werner Herzog. The tragic loss of a billionaire and some other peeps in the Titanic OceanGate sub is absolutely the fault of the OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush. Ricky Wood is a funny guy who was in Confess, Fletch which Mike enjoyed, but Luke loathed. Anthony Fauci has a complicated past beyond just Covid stuff. Jim Breuer has changed a great deal since the days of Goat Boy. The PGA Tour accepted the Saudis into their tour as investors. Does it matter? Is the Saudi Arabian government any worse in their actions over history than the government of the United States? Nobody seems to care if Saudi money infiltrates every avenue of the economy. Jason Alexander has issues apparently. It all starts with the McDLT in 1985 but he also has derogatory things to say about the game of Cricket. Jerry Seinfeld loathed Mitzi Shore who owned the Comedy Store stand-up until she died in 2018. Seinfeld may be a very petty dude. Govier is excited because the NBA Draft was Thursday night (fast forward Dave & Eric) and Victor Wembanyama is the future of humankind. Black Mirror is so good that Luke and Mike had to turn it off before. Luke compared it to watching Brawl In Cell Block 99 & Dragged Over Concrete back to back. Mike has some Central Michigan University memories of his long lost roommate Ron. Thanks to him the Xzihibit classic Paparazzi was introduced to Govier's world. Then there is plenty of Papa Roach & Magic Man. We love you all! Really! We are very pleased with our little world that together we have formed thanks to this show. We've noticed we start off each show kind of sluggish so we throw to Kriss Kross to Warm It Up! Did you ever wear your clothes backwards? Govier remembers a terrible movie from 2001 called Killer Bud with Robert Stack as The Gooch. Cue the Unsolved Mysteries theme! Luke is a passionate fan of the movie Ravenous, but he could not recall the main theme from the film's score. Pat Robertson bit the big one and it's about damn time that homophobe left this plane of existence. When will Henry Kissinger die? Cormac McCarthy also hit the high road. Luke loves him, but Steve was more curious about Werner Herzog reading McCarthy's work in his silly Herzog voice. Silvio Berlusconi is dead too! Why did any Italians mourn him in the streets?! And Bunga Bunga will always be connected to Joe Versus The Volcano for Govier. Steve's mom burned VHS tapes and vinyl records when he was younger. She was definitely committed to her obsession. This leads to an overall frustration with the people we love who are locked in on their beliefs without any doubt on their face as they push the word of the people who proselytized them. We read your emails! We have two each from Mr. Pink & Christian! Thank you for the curiosities and questions you offer each episode. Mike is pissed because the term rotting has taken off on TikTok lately while the original rotting, burning people were Mike & Steve. Mr. Pink wants to know how to unwind when he has time off work. Steve and Luke are fine getting hammered on booze but the teetotaler Govier demands more. Also, what's your favorite Smoke? Porn is not a part of Mike's life anymore, but in the 2000's Mike was depressed and downloading a lot of porn before it became even more accessible last decade. The pixie cut of the 90's has apparently become the haircut of the modern day Karens? Remember the novel Snow Crash from the early 90's? It's a science fiction novel that Steve thinks may be the impetus for Facebook's garbo Metaverse. Also Trump was indicted and nobody cares here because what does it matter when he's running for president from the can? It's all trash. We love you all! Really! SMOKE! Watch out for that Canadian smoke! There is a lot of fear right now. Why is Oliver Stone the way he is? Luke has a solid theory as to why. Great emails make a great show! Our pal chimes in about which fast food items that are no longer available are missed the most. Hootie did a song about chicken sandwiches for Burger King. Do you recall that gem? That leads Mike & Steve to laugh about Cold Dead Hand by Jim Carrey for Funny Or Die. Mike used to hit up Murderer's Row on the west side of Ann Arbor and has a quality tip for all you fast foodies. Travis has a curiosity about cartoon babes and which ones tickle the fancy of your venerable hosts. Was Krang a ripoff of Quatto? Watch Total Recall again and it may be obvious now. Our friend Dave who was not a fan of the sports talk on the show decides to email in so he can dictate the focus of the show. It's an impressive trick by a wily veteran. Anyways, there is a whistleblower who is calling out the government in relation to alien life forms and other extra terrestrial ongoings. This gets Steve fired up and he may have topped his John Eastman breakdown from last week with this one! Luke also has one of those stories about seeing stuff in the sky at night. What a Memorial Day weekend holiday that was! We're back now with the full crew and even though Luke is confused about whether we can hear him or not, we bring you a solid talk show. Your emails have been patiently waiting for us in the IIS inbox. We dive into them right away with the first email dealing with the cliffhanger from the last episode relating to previous guest host Travis and his comments about Luke being vocally harsh toward the so-called American liberals. Luke gives it to you straight as he always does and we hope everybody is better off because of him. Steve has a great sermon about a man known as John Eastman and why we should all be familiar with his efforts to help Donald Trump's attempted coup. Emailer Joe has a couple doozy emails for us with one of the focal points relating to reaction videos and why they are popular. It turns out everybody on the show has had personal reactions to videos presented to one another. We're definitely not above anyone else in that arena. Just remember: Hey! You're part of it. Govier remembers a time back in 2004 when a single CD-R or DVD-R could harness a library of digitized videos all in one place. This was back before YouTube existed. It turns out nostalgia is not just an annoying centerpiece in modern pop culture, but it's also a tool used by the corporate power structure to maintain our attention so we don't stop and take a look around. We get a taste of what the musical artist Ren is all about. Another one of Joe's emails is curious about the use of Scandinavian countries as talking points in politics. Steve nails down a great point about Social Security being an example of our refusal to give up entitlements once we get him. Do not miss this part of the show! Mike's going to do a newsletter still but nobody believes him. We have a new emailer! Welcome to the party Karl! Willie Nelson did a Secrets segment on Conan O'Brien but nobody can find the clip online. Mike wants to know if Hannah Gadsby is funny or not which leads to a Tig Notaro debate for some reason. What's more fun than looking at reviews online and in particular one star reviews from some of the most beautiful places in the world. Steve has experience in this realm and shares his stories. We're also being screwed by Spotify. Some AI generated clips show has taken our exact show title on Spotify and we cannot be found on Spotify's search. Totally bogus! Please rate us 5 stars on Spotify if you can find us. We need to take these scumbags down! We love you all! Really! Remember Erb Lumber? What about high school parties with alcohol and people who were overly dramatic? Steve has some guest spots on other pods you should be aware of. Luke has a direct response to our friend and previous guest host Travis who indirectly commented at the end of a recent Cinema 9 episode with Mike and Steve that was recorded just prior to recording this episode. Luke assumes his annoyance with the so-called right wing is implied. Yet, Luke isn't universally locking in the same label on every Trump lover or all Republicans. The Detroit Pistons were screwed by the San Antonio Spurs once again. This time losing the NBA Draft Lottery and falling all the way to the 5th pick. Bogus. Cue the NBA On NBC music! Steve recalls Conan O'Brien's Secrets bit from his show back in the 90s. We read your emails like we always do every week because it's the highlight of the show! Our lone email this week spurs a lot of different discussion points that go off on their own tangents. New emailer Joe brings the funk this week and wants to know if we make the effort to separate the art from the artist? Like R. Kelly or Woody Allen. We learn that Joe's wife loves getting jiggy with it. Luke reminds us that we don't have a clue what these so called celebrities do in private. Just because we hear a story about a famous person doesn't mean it's an unassailable fact. Right? Steve is reminded of the 90s vowel free lead singer after he brings Jesus Ranch by Tenacious Our show name isn't just a clever title. We try to follow the code of open and honest conversation without unsubstantiated judgment. Pat Mcafee has signed with ESPN and Steve just keeps referring to him as the former Colts punter repeatedly. Steve thinks Dave Chappelle is an edge-lord now and not the master comic he once was. Greetings! Steve, Luke and Govier start with a newsletter than nobody had talked about prior to the show. Should the fellas do a newsletter? Govier had a stepdad that imparted a bogus behavioral routine upon him. What the hell was The MacLaughlin Group?! What about Ryan White? Remember when AIDS was put into every television storyline at some point in the 1990s. Steve shared the voicemails he talked about last week. Luke and Govier voicemails are a blast from the past! Southern drawls can be hours of entertainment as this week's show proves. The Oakland Athletics broadcaster said the word that nobody should EVER say anywhere plus he said it on live TV! It's a total nightmare. Jordan Neely was murdered by a Marine in the subway of New York City recently. The media is running with the classic buts, but there is a point to why this story matters in a genuine way. Govier is hopeful after the police in Windsor, Ontario will now be riding with professional nurses on weekend shifts to help with the overdose crisis in the city. Harry Belafonte and Gordon Lightfoot have died recently. Both left quality pieces of themselves behind that we should all be grateful for. Of course we read your emails! Eric wants to complain about how terrible The Dark Knight Rises script was! Eric is pissed! Luke is also pissed! Danny wants to talk Lions NFL Draft. Govier is now heavily focused on the Writer's Strike and the possible fallout from it. Luke is displeased because Biden called all ofus deadbeats. Not cool! The fellas also dream of a Hunter Biden focused you are not the father Maury Povich episode. We love you all! We close the show with Cornflake Girl by Tori Amos. WELCOME TO 100!!!!!!!! Tribute to Matt and John Scott! Our is It Safe? forefathers. We have a new permanent member of the show to announce in edition to the celebration of 100 episodes of our silly little show. Welcome Steve to the crew! Give him his due because he is a fabulous addition to our program! After the initial 100th episode love to start of the show, the fellas have a boat load of emails to get to thanks to your dutiful efforts. Also, we give major props to listener Eric who made a fresh new trove of audio clips in honor of our 100th episode. So you may hear the voices of past hosts on this episode plus words coming from the mouths of current hosts that are technically pre-recorded. You'll figure it out. You're smart. Our listeners have a keen ear. Thank you Eric for going the extra mile by creating this audio in your free time. The fellas ponder the many voicemails over the years that have been lost to the ether. Luke apparently rambled a lot when he left a voice message. Mr. Pink kicks off the emails in chronological order. Who is Mr. Pink? Does it matter? Mr. Pink wants to know about cancel culture and why others can come back from being canceled while others can't. Not only is Terminator 2 the better movie, but it's also the superior theme song. So says Govier. The Cryptkeeper from Tales From The Crypt wanted to welcome Steve in as a new host of the show. Plus he has competition too because Yoda wants to show Steve the love as well! Sean emails us with some great premises and questions for us all with one of them related to mini horses and giant mice. Mike gets completely sidetracked with drops at this point and laughs until he wets his pants. Govier used to listen to 311 in high school. He also wants an investigation of 311. Our Alaskan correspondent Danny drops an email with quite a trick up his sleeve for Luke! Luke also shares some inside dope on how the show barely comes together every week. Brian sent us two emails! They are both stellar contributions to the show that provide plenty of thought provoking discussion. Mike Trout or Shohei Ohani? Who you got? The fellas stumble upon the origin of Luke's alter ego known as Belidge! It turns out Luke had quite the temper when he played baseball in high school. We love you all! We close this session with a selection from Govier which feels appropriate for the chaotic nature of this episode. It's called Let's Get The Baby High by The Dead Milkmen. If any of this nonsense strikes you, please email our talk show at isitsafepod@gmail.com to explain why.
