You all have been asking for Khleo Thomas (Holes, Roll bounce, 2 Bite Rule) for a long time. This is a fun one. We talk about Holes, Friday After Next, being a young stage actor, the hunt for old technology, comics and so much more. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Like phoenixes rising from the littered ashes of Oscars discourse and Russo Brothers slop, we've triumphantly emerged from Cinema Purgatory™ for our 7th year to, once again, fill the internet airwaves with our hot takes on film. In this week's episode we're talking friendship, heart chakras, and bra money in One of Them Days (2025), directed by Lawrence Lamont and starring Keke Palmer and SZA in her film debut. In the grand tradition of 1 day buddy comedies, this movie follows Dreux and Alyssa as they try to recover their stolen rent money before they're evicted. Also in this episode: we wonder when we'll get more mid-budget comedies, and would we wear a Cucci t-shirt? Our recommendations: Friday (1995), Friday After Next (2002), After Hours (1985) Support the show with a Ko-fi! ko-fi.com/blackgirlfilmclub Check out the rest of our socials at linktr.ee/blackgirlfilmclub

It's fair to say that when it comes to classic trilogies, FRIDAY AFTER NEXT is at the top of any melonated household's list, especially around the holidays. Though some of the more prominent themes of the film like homophobia and pimping do NOT age well in today's climate, what's left over after you scrub your eyes still holds up in the vein of ridiculousness. You do not need to watch the other two films in the series (Friday, Next Friday) to understand this plot, so strap in as we end the year on a high note. Ho Ho Ho Muthafucka!
We did it Ladies and Gentlemen, we are at the end of SEASON 2! Their holiday season kicks off with a bang when a ghetto Santa Claus (Rickey Smiley) raids their apartment, stealing their rent money AND their presents. The boys take jobs as security guards at an urban strip mall to make their rent money back before their landlord's musclebound son Damon (Terry Crews) comes collecting. https://www.hypeplustv.com/ - Katt Williams now appears to have set aim at Rickey Smiley after Smiley would appear on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast. According to Smiley, he was casted to play 'Money Mike' in Friday After Next before Katt Williams was even considered. Pierre, Yamaneika, and In-studio guest Marcus Harvey would share their reactions of Williams saying Smiley was not truthful in his interview. Symphony Thompson moderates the debate. Iran is in the midst of the largest women's revolution in the history of the world. Comedian and actor Maz Jobrani, breaks down the protest in Iran, the murder that started it and how men in the West can be courageous allies from across the world. As an Iranian man raised in the US, Maz has a unique perspective on the differences between women's movements in both countries and the similarities in the attitudes and policies that led to the loss of integral human rights for women during Iran's 1979 revolution.
