This is all about living with margin, ignoring pressures, or could haves or should haves, and prioritising connection over perfection.  Our minds and emotions depend on our words and the stories we allow ourselves to meditate on. "Children are born persons." Charlotte Mason Jennifer has been parenting since the 90s, and she and Scott's research and parenting styles have run the gamut over their 7 children and three decades. The one thing consistent from the early days of strict parenting to more permissive parenting is to focus on building character and connection. One thing that was consistent across all those years and styles of parenting. It was their intense love for their children and their enjoyment of each one as a person. The one thing they learned over all those years is that there is no formula for parenting. Still, there is so much we can learn and be encouraged in. Amy Nyvall, a coach with Connected Families, joins Jennifer Pepito to talk about parenting through connection and attunement without sacrificing standards. Many of my adult friends have an ambivalent relationship with the Christmas season. Why is that? It's often because their mothers were stressed and anxious about achieving a "perfect Christmas."  In a recent discussion, Diane Boden, the creator of the Minimalist Mom's Podcast, joined Jennifer Pepito to talk about how to create a minimalist Christmas. The focus is on planning, creating meaningful moments for your family, and choosing what brings you joy and connection. During the holiday season, there are numerous external pressures—from the vast selection of Christmas decorations at stores like Target to expectations from family and the community. It's easy to say yes to everything, buy more than you need, or feel guilty about your actions. Don't let yourself fall into that trap. Avoid letting the pursuit of the "perfect holiday season" turn you into a frazzled mom. Instead, aim for simplicity so your children aren't left wishing for more relaxed times and a happier mom. Sometimes, in the nitty gritty of parenting, we get so focused on what isn't happening, or we focus on our current "reality" rather than the promises of God. This can cause us to spiral into fear, control, panic, and reactionary decision-making. Our children are the actual sufferers when we allow this spiral to happen. What would happen if, instead, we started to step back in those moments and ask God to show us what he is doing or asked him for advice on how to deal with or respond to a learning struggle, a child with hard-to-manage emotions, or any one of the plethora of problems that come up in life? What if we learned to tune in and attach to our children  The wonderful Deb Weakly, creator of Help Club for Moms, joins Jennifer to talk about how big God is, his faithfulness, and the process of trusting him in our parenting and mothering story. Welcome to the weekend our fine scale modeling freaks!  And with this weekend’s episode # 49 brings us to December and we talk about how we both loathe the cold Winter months ahead, and how to survive it through modeling and all that can be accomplished on our benches.  With Winter also brings us to the Holiday season and a time of year for many where we buy, and receive gifts and wouldn’t it be great to have a list of ideas on what to get for modeling instead of that ugly pair of socks and yet another ice scraper for your vehicle?  What are some good places to get those small stocking stuffers, items every modelers would love to have, many of which are inexpensive and things our families would never think to give.  What constitutes good directions and a few other topics are answered from Listeners questions! We discuss storage containers for our tools and small parts for easy portability from place to place in the home or to other locations away from the bench, and the color blue and how blue is used in water to enhance it’s effect and draw the eye.  But also how blue could be a total nightmare for other modeling projects that could completely take away from viewing pleasure if you are not careful!  Brett talks briefly about his new structure project build of Wiley Waterproofing by FOS Scale Models, and Todd has now begun his latest build Cameron Street Apartments by KC’s Workshop. There is a lot more in this episode and we mean, cram packed!  So buckle up and get to work on your bench and listen in!Join our Patreon Page! https://patreon.com/hoscalecustoms

After an absolutely amazing fall, Chicago reminded us that Winter can hit at any time.  Coming off a 12" snowfall yesterday, it reminded Marc of the implications for pilots across the northern latitudes.  And its not just about preheating your engine.  Pilot's have the responsibility for considering the effect of cold and snow on the entire airplane, as well as taxiway and runway conditions.  And how about the impending weather, and in the case of an off airport landing, is the plane equipped to keep the pilot safe until help arrives?  Join with Marc as he discussed those very topics.  In the end, your airplane and your family will thank you for your preparedness for Winter Operations. Marc also talked about the retirement of Mike Ragsdale, a 37 year veteran behind the yoke at American Airlines.  A friend, a mentor, and as professional as they come, Mike will miss flying, his passengers, and the MD-80.  But maybe not as much as they will miss him.  Capt. Rags has not been in a GA airplane in 37 years.  It'll be fun to get him back to where it all started.  Stay tuned for the report on his reaction!!! With Winter upon us, Marc also asked the listeners what they would want as a gift.  If you could pick any item out of Sporty's catalog, what would it be?  Old School?  New School?  Expensive?  Useful?  Send us your thoughts and we'll pick up the conversation next time. Congrats to Al for his new position at Cirrus Aircraft. Blue Skies and Tailwinds!
