The recent explosion of use cases for AI has got everybody thinking and talking. In the fitness industry, there is the possible use of AI and biometrics to revolutionize how we market and attract customers. The idea is that AI can analyze biometric data from sources like camera phones, microphones, and smartwatches to determine people's responses to social media posts or advertisements.Currently, this technology is being used by organizations such as the CIA and NSA used for identifying potential threats, such as potential terrorists. However, in the future, businesses may be able to leverage this technology to segment leads based on their favorable or negative responses to specific content. This means businesses can identify leads who are highly interested, those who are gathering more information, and those who are not quality leads. It's worth noting that elements of this personalized marketing already exist. For instance, Google has been using algorithms and analytics to understand our buying habits and preferences for years. Facebook ads also leverage user profiles and buying choices to display relevant content. But the potential future of AI-driven biometric analysis takes this personalization to a whole new level, almost like reading minds.Often, gyms are desperate for any leads and focus on servicing them later. However, the power lies in assessing and attracting clients who align with your values as a business. Even without mind-reading technology, we have the ability today to focus on our avatar clients and deliver a personalized experience today.Tune in to learn more!Key Takeaways- Segmenting leads using AI (01:15)- Knowing your avatar client (07:53)- Identifying your avatar clients' interests (09:27)- You have to know who you are serving (12:54)- Every lead costs you, even those that aren't a good fit (16:23)- A systematized approach creates a consistent experience (23:43)- It doesn't take much to win (27:10)Additional Resources- Relive Every Session of the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit- Apply For Your Profit Milestone Award - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group - Jump on a call with Randy---If you haven't already, please rate and review the
In the fitness industry, it's easy to get caught up in the allure of quick money and flashy trends. Some gyms and fitness businesses resort to high-ticket sales or front-end offers to compensate for lower monthly memberships. While this might seem like a solution in the short term, it often leads to a constant scramble for new sales. Gyms have become sales-centric rather than client-centric, neglecting the delivery of services to existing clients. This approach can create a cycle of continuously chasing new sales without building a sustainable client base.Prioritizing business fundamentals and focusing on recurring revenue will lead to long-term success and stability.Consistency in revenue growth, where monthly recurring revenue exceeds base operating expenses, provides stability and peace of mind while ensuring that your business has a solid foundation and isn't constantly reliant on generating new sales to stay afloat. In this episode, Tim and Randy discuss the pitfalls of relying on high ticket sales and challenges and highlight the benefits of building a systematic, sustainable fitness business.Key Takeaways- The problem with front-end offers (01:39)- Systematically training clients at a higher ticket price (06:05)- Building a reliable and sustainable gym business (08:07)- 20-mile march consistency (12:02)- What's the end goal of your business (15:08)Additional Resources- Relive Every Session of the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit- Apply For Your Profit Milestone Award - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group - Jump on a call with Randy---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!
If there is one key factor that often differentiates those who achieve their goals from those who fall short, it has to be urgency.Urgency fuels action, propelling individuals to make things happen and seize opportunities.Without urgency, even the greatest ideas can wither away, leaving unrealized potential in their wake.Urgency plays a pivotal role in entrepreneurship, acting as a catalyst for success. While talent and skills are undoubtedly essential, without urgency, they can stagnate and remain untapped.Aspiring gym owners, for example, must embrace urgency to propel their businesses forward. Those who embrace urgency and consistently take action are more likely to overcome obstacles, achieve their goals, and realize their potential. In this episode, Tim and Randy delve into the significance of urgency in personal and entrepreneurial success and highlight how embracing urgency can be a game-changer in various aspects of life.Key Takeaways- Urgency - The X factor of success (01:51)- The 2 most valuable traits of an entrepreneur (02:47)- Action trumps perfection (04:03)- The biggest mistake you can make as an entrepreneur (06:28)- Make a decision and go hard (09:34)Additional Resources- Relive Every Session of the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit- Apply For Your Profit Milestone Award - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group - Jump on a call with Randy---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!
There are different types of fitness clients with unique motivations and expectations. One particular type is the transactional client. These individuals approach their interactions with fitness businesses from a convenience-oriented perspective, valuing ease of use over long-term commitment. They are more likely to view fitness as a service that fits into their lifestyle rather than an integral part of their routine.Transactional clients typically have limited emotional attachment to the business or service they engage with.Effectively managing transactional clients requires a different approach compared to other types of clients. In this episode, Tim and Randy aim to shed light on the transactional client, explore their characteristics, and provide insights on how to effectively engage with them to retain their business.Key Takeaways- Growth Summit replay (01:29)- Who is a transactional client (02:07)- The lifestyle client (04:01)- How to deal with a transactional client (05:02)- You can't change the marketplace (06:26)- Don't fight transactional clients (08:13)Additional Resources- Relive Every Session of the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit- Apply For Your Profit Milestone Award - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group - Jump on a call with Randy---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!

The concept of high-ticket offers has gained significant attention, not only within the fitness industry but across various sectors. Many gym owners ponder whether it makes more sense to sell high-ticket products or services to supplement their regular monthly subscriptions. The prospect of generating a large income quickly can be enticing for many gym owners, especially when they need an immediate influx of funds to cover expenses or stay afloat. The allure lies in the promise of significant revenue that high-ticket offers can bring, potentially transforming the financial outlook of a business in a short time frame. It is not uncommon for some businesses to achieve remarkable success, generating tens of thousands of dollars in a single month through high-ticket sales. However, Tim and Randy have observed a trend that gym owners often seek high-ticket solutions as a means to compensate for the shortcomings of their core business model. At its core, a sustainable gym business relies on recurring revenue exceeding its base operating expenses.Instead of constantly scrambling for new marketing strategies, challenges, and quick cash injections, a business should focus on building a strong foundation of recurring revenue.Tune in to this episode to learn more about the place of high ticket offers in your gym business and if/when to run them.Key Takeaways- The rise of high ticket offers (02:02)- Are you using high ticket offers to compensate for shortcomings? Operating a gym business can be challenging, especially when cash flow becomes an issue. Many gym owners find themselves in a bind, facing financial gaps that require quick decisions. When gym owners find themselves in a tight financial spot, the pressure to make up the shortfall can be immense. Desperate to meet payroll or cover expenses, they resort to creative but short-term solutions. These solutions can include hastily selling paid-in-full memberships, creating overnight challenges, or launching nutrition programs to generate immediate revenue. While these strategies may help in the short term, they often create larger problems and hinder long-term business sustainability.A key aspect of avoiding desperate decisions is implementing forecasting and focusing on monthly recurring revenue (MRR). Gym owners need to plan ahead and ensure that their MRR consistently exceeds their operating expenses. In this episode, Tim and Randy address the importance of foresight, disciplined actions, and focusing on sustainable growth to avoid falling into the cycle of desperate decision-making.Key Takeaways- Cash flow challenges in a gym (00:27)- Avoiding cash flow emergencies (03:14)- Forecasting ahead in your business (04:30)- You have to play the long game (08:21)- Slow, steady growth for long-term success (10:07)- Don't compromise your business (14:34)Additional Resources- Apply For Your Profit Milestone Award - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group - Jump on a call with Randy---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!

Gyms are both incredibly rewarding and difficult businesses to run. On the one hand, they offer the chance to make a great living from something you are passionate about and help people stay active and healthy. On the other hand, running a gym successfully as a business is an incredibly difficult thing to do.Most gym owners spend their time fighting fires in their gyms on a daily basis. They are fully immersed in the operations of their gyms. This is not what you should be doing as a gym owner.A proper business should run independently of the owner and generate enough cash flow for the owner to invest in other things. To do this, you must first understand your goal as a gym owner and what you want from your business.Tim and Randy believe the goal should be improving your cash flow to a point where it exceeds your monthly expenses, then increasing the owner benefit.Key Takeaways- The million-dollar model – our new coaching program (00:37)- What is owner benefit (03:13)- Cash-out vs. cash flow (05:47)- What is your goal as a gym owner (07:43)- How to get out of the day-to-day operations (09:32)- Why a gym business is difficult (12:01)Additional Resources- Webinar link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_7mAdf7noTUepTnyvS3VcIw?inf_contact_key=2b6c88b24d34e87488276b75706b6ff2cc0558ed5d4c28cbfab114022b1ec50dPasscode: BestYear2023!----- Learn more about our Brand New Coaching Program for Gym Owners- Grab your tickets for the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group ---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!
Every gym owner should be getting and reviewing their P&Ls regularly to gauge the status of their business.A P&L statement is a financial statement that summarizes a business's income and expenses for a given period. It can be monthly, quarterly, or yearly. It includes revenue from memberships and products, operating expenses, and non-operating income. Understanding the numbers on the P&L can help gym owners more accurately assess the financial health of their business. It's rare in the gym business to see any gym owner share their P&Ls, but in this episode, Tim and Randy do exactly that. The proof of the pudding is in the eating - The reason for sharing the P&L is to show gym owners that what they teach here in the podcast and in the coaching programs is actually something that is happening.Tune in to hear about the P&L numbers from Tim's gym and how to build a million-dollar gym business!Key Takeaways- The importance of reviewing your P&L (00:43)- The average profit of a gym (02:41)- Keep the main thing the main thing (05:06)- The profit of the pudding is in the eating (12:24)- Our new million-dollar coaching program (14:07)- The biggest problem gym owners face (16:54)- How to make more profit (17:42)Additional Resources- Webinar link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_7mAdf7noTUepTnyvS3VcIw?inf_contact_key=2b6c88b24d34e87488276b75706b6ff2cc0558ed5d4c28cbfab114022b1ec50dPasscode: BestYear2023!----- Learn more about our Business Accelerator Coaching Program for Gym Owners - Grab your tickets for the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group ---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!
In this episode, Tim and Randy are joined by Zach Columbia to discuss an interesting observation from fitness clients. The better results you get them, the less likely they will stay with you. What does this mean?Clients search us out because they are in some form of pain. They might be overweight, out of shape, have low energy levels, etc. This motivates them to show up for a consultation, which can be uncomfortable and intimidating, and sign up for our services.Once they give their credit card, their pain level decreases since they have taken action. With each workout, their pain level decreases further, and they start to see results, bringing down the value they place on our services. The better the results, the less they need us.... because they are no longer in pain, making them less motivated and less likely to stay. This is the opposite of what many gym owners think and expect of their clients, but it happens. So, how should you go about it?Tune in to learn more!Key Takeaways- FitPro Growth Summit update (00:26)- Why clients leave (02:31)- The argument for annual contracts (05:51)- The lifestyle client goals (09:55)- Who is the ideal fitness client (11:10)- Creating a client's journey that will keep them motivated (15:34)- How to target lifestyle fitness clients to your gym (21:06)Additional Resources- Learn more about our Business Accelerator Coaching Program for Gym Owners - Grab your tickets for the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group ---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!

A lot of gym owners have some sort of background in sports. But in some cases, you have to remain steadfast as an entrepreneur and don't be easily persuaded by everything that comes across your ears. There is no doubt that we should always strive to improve our service, but you have to be comfortable with the fact that you can't please everybody. In this episode, Tim and Randy share their thoughts on when good enough is good enough and where to go from there.Tune inKey Takeaways- Details about our upcoming secret meeting (00:41)- When is your service good enough? One of the biggest reasons why clients cancel their gym memberships is change. Clients generally don't like change. In the fitness business space, there are 3 types of training concepts. You can either have one-on-one personal training, semi-private personal training, or large group training/class-based concept. Most gyms are running the large group concepts, but as we have talked about numerous times in this podcast, the semi-private model is better for different reasons. One of these reasons is that you can provide your clients with a better experience and results, which means you can charge more, which makes a lot of business sense. We believe if you're going to have both, or if you're going to introduce semi-private and already have large group training, then they need to have completely different deliverables for two. They have to look different, smell different and taste different. It can't be the same delivery with fewer people. In this episode, Tim and Randy explain the key differences between the two models and how to transition to semi-private personal training.Key Takeaways- The 3 fitness business concepts (01:24)- Differences between classes and semi-private training (02:18)- Can large group training and semi-private coexist with each other? 08:100- How to coach in semi-private (11:29)- Improving the customer experience (13:01)Additional Resources- Become a member of the Gym Shirt Club and receive a shirt every month: https://gymshirtclub.com/----- Learn more about our Business Accelerator Coaching Program for Gym Owners - Grab your tickets for the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group ---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!
There are two trains of thought on the best way to sell gym/personal training memberships. On the one hand, some people believe in collecting as much money as possible, even if it means giving a discount on the memberships. On the other hand, we have the recurring subscription model where you have some money coming in from your base memberships every month. In our considered opinion, the recurring revenue model is the only way to grow your business and increase your profitability.Building up your recurring revenues to be higher than your base operating expenses and growing the gap between these two is the surest way to have a thriving business. If you go the other way and cannibalize your recurring revenues, you will have months where you can barely cover your base expenses. This is not good for your business as it keeps you in that state of always looking for the next big sale.In this episode, Tim and Randy share the reasons why you should not fall for the excitement of a big sale and would rather focus on reoccurring revenues.Key Takeaways- The theme of the 2023 Growth Summit (01:30)- Importance of cash flow to a business (02:31)- Monthly recurring revenues vs. monthly expenses (06:21)- Don't live paycheck to paycheck (11:08)- Align your expenses with your income (14:45)- How to explode the growth and profitability of your business (16:15)Additional Resources- Become a member of the Gym Shirt Club and receive a shirt every month: https://gymshirtclub.com/----- Learn more about our Business Accelerator Coaching Program for Gym Owners - Grab your tickets for the 2023 FitPro Growth Summit - Learn more about The Iron Circle - Business Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook group ---If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!
