Send us a textWe love a little 90s nostalgia and The Hate U Give delivers on that front. It also delivers on the well drawn characters and hard hitting plot elements front. Angie Thomas took us on an emotional roller coaster with Starr in this book and we laughed, cried, and loved right along with her. We loved the Tupac references and Maverick's take on Harry Potter and cheered for Starr when she grabbed that megaphone. We are discussing all sorts of big issues in this book from microaggressions, code switching, police brutality, and interracial relationships. As always we learned something about ourselves and each other along the way. We narrowly avoid a tragic Vanilla Ice moment and debate whether being known as the Fresh Princess is cute or cringe. The biggest breakdown that happens in the growing of an email list is....THE EMAILS. Yeah I know right! you have all the intentions of building your list and you then have an auto reply thanking them for subscribing but then what...nothing. You draw a blank, you don't know what to say and it leaves you standing around like "Steve Urkel" from the 90's sitcom Family Matters saying "Did I Do That?" Well in fact you didn't do that...you did nothing. Let's change that right now and spend the next 23 minutes listening to what the "Fresh Princess of Email" can teach you about creating emails that convert to sales. The '90s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air , ran for six seasons and launched Will Smith as a cultural icon. The show followed Smith as a fictionalized version of himself as he moved from Philadelphia to live with his aunt and uncle in the wealthy neighborhood of Bel-Air in Los Angeles. An upcoming book series reimagines the story with a new character, a fresh princess named Destiny. Author Denene Millner is writing The Fresh Princess series and joined On Second Thought to discuss her work as an author.

On this post-Endgame episode, the crew goes over the next batch of episodes of Slayers season 1. Shabranigdo is defeated? And who are these new crazy characters? There's talk of out of character Lina, strong sense of Justice, Will Smith, and ghostbusting. Got a lot of thoughts about these episodes, but we promise, no tangent spoilers for Avengers and Game of Thrones. Welcome to the entertainment portion of episode 46. On tonight's pod we get into the Galaxy S9, is it impressive? Andy seems to think so. Next up, Kevin Smith and his health. After having a heart attack over the weekend, cancelling his second show and going to the hospital saved his life. We hope he can make a full recovery. There is buzz of a Fresh Prince reboot, but this time... it might be the Fresh Princess. How do you feel about that? Will it be awesome or will it suck? We think it might not be very good, but maybe we will be wrong! We get into box office, and have a game for Tony to play. Which Natalie Portman movies are real and which are fake? Play along! Lastly, we talk about The Oscars and the best picture predictions. Comment, share and subscribe !
Now this is a story all about how the life of actress Karyn Parsons (aka Hilary Banks) got flipped, turned upside down. And we’d like to take a few minutes—just sit right there—and we’ll tell you how she makes Black history movies with flair.
SEASON 7 HAS ARRIVED! And of course, episode 175 along with it! We do have a small bit of news this week, including ponies on Wall Street, the Fresh Princess (what?), and a promo for next week's episode. And more beyond that! Alca7raz and Nemesis start off the discussion with a quick look at the first issue of Legends of Magic! It has some interesting lore implications. But then it's time for two new episodes of Friendship is Magic. First off is "Celestial Advice," which is a bit... weird. Then it's "All Bottled Up" which is also... weird. Well, they'll try to explain their feelings about both of them. Let's just say both episodes bring up some confusing things. But moving on, they also have a brief fanfic update! Tune in, another lap of the ride has begun. Show Notes: http://pony411.libsyn.com/shownotes
Humanitarian, entrepreneur and recording artist, BriaMarie is the first artist signed to Ethical Music Entertainment. The Columbia, Maryland native’s music has been featured on VH1, MTV, TV One, Fox and more. The “Fresh Princess”, as she is affectionately known, has shared stages with artists like Ledisi, Tweet, Raheem Devaughn and screen time alongside actors like David Mann, Kim Fields and more. Known for her “fresh” sound, her songs are “bangers” while still giving messages of respect, self-esteem, empowerment, morality and love, having been praised as “[music] with a message that’s pretty hot" on Bossip.com. BriaMarie’s talents began to blossom at the age of three as she fervently mimicked the sounds of artists like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, and Prince. By age eight, she was singing in the school chorus, reading music and mastering the violin. At age fifteen, she was regularly performing with her father in his local band and teaching herself piano. She quickly developed a flair for dance with fourteen years of cheerleading and four years of modern and jazz dance. She later incorporated dance, singing and acting in her roles in four high school musicals. As the Fresh Princess continued to progress artistically, she also excelled academically throughout high school graduated from Temple University magna cum laude with a 3.86 grade point average. Her path was predestined. Being the best in her craft meant working with the best.? BriaMarie’s tenacity and fortitude led to a meeting with multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning producer Carvin Haggins. After just two meetings, it was a fit. She is now the first artist signed to Ethical Music Entertainment. When asked what made her the one, Haggins responded by saying that she reminded him of himself with her sheer determination and willingness to learn.
