A podcast hosted by Danika Brown and Caitlin Slater, fangirling over all things pop culture from books and tv shows to games, movies, music and more.
This week, we're kicking off with Justin Bieber's abhorrent Instagram post ‘celebrating' Hailey Bieber's Vogue US cover, plus our love for her ‘What's In My Bag' interview. We recap the wild finale and reunion of Love Triangle Season 3 on Stan, breaking down all the chaotic moments and who ended up where (and why Mike is still a scrub). Caitlin reviews the popular new Amazon Prime series that everyone is talking about, Overcompensating, starring Adam DiMarco, Caleb Heron, and Kaia Gerber. Turning back to one of our favourite genres, true crime, we review Netflix's latest documentary, A Deadly American Marriage, which delves into the murder of Jason Corbett and our opinions on whether Molly and her father acted in self-defence or not. Finally, for The Delulu Diaries Book Club May read, we're discussing The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley: In the near future, a disaffected civil servant takes a job at a mysterious government ministry. Her role is to be a "bridge" for a person from the past who has been "rescued" from death and assigned to test the limits of time travel. As she gets to know this "expat," she finds herself falling in love, but as the true nature of the project emerges, she must confront her own choices and the future they may hold. This week, we're driving straight in to chat about the recent feud between Abbie Chatfield and Clementine Ford following comments Clementine made in her Substack newsletter, "Dear Clementine: Issue #2," where she talked about "performative activism" in relation to Abbie. Meanwhile, Sabbi is trending on TikTok again for all the wrong reasons, with new drama unfolding involving artist Tahnee Kelland. It seems some of Tahnee's artwork ended up being painted over, and it's sparked a debate over Sabbi's morals and values. When it comes to what we've been watching, we caught up on Molly Mae: Behind It All Part 2 on Amazon Prime. As always, we share our thoughts on the behind-the-scenes look at Molly-Mae's entrepreneurial side, her experience with fillers and her tumultuous relationship with Tommy Fury. We also watched the latest season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives on Disney+, where the MomTok drama finds a new level with Jen and Zac's rocky relationship post-Chippendale scandal, members of the swinger scandal coming forward, growing feuds between Demi, Jessi and Taylor and a major cheating scandal. This week, we're diving headfirst into the Australian Federal Election – because even though we love our pop culture, we also love a good democracy sausage sizzle. We then dissect the best and worst of the 2025 Met Gala with our takes on the likes of Gigi Hadid, Zendaya, Rihanna, Lewis Hamilton, Teyana Taylor, Colman Domingo, Doechii, the KarJenners and Alton Mason. As for what we've been watching, we're back on the chaotic rollercoaster that is Love Triangle on Stan, with our reaction to Chloe and Bernie's budding romance. Caitlin finally braved Ari Aster's daylight horror masterpiece, Midsommar (2019) starring Florence Pugh. We also strapped ourselves in for some intense military action with Warfare: A surveillance mission goes wrong for a platoon of American Navy SEALs in insurgent territory in Iraq. So, Caitlin killed the Pope. Since we're apparently manifestation witches, we discuss the unfortunate death of Pope Francis and what this means for the upcoming Conclave, including the top three picks for the next papal. We also woke up to the TikTok video that stopped the entire Australian nation: Kath Ebbs detailing their reunion with Jojo Siwa after their month-long stint in UK Celebrity Big Brother where the entire world watched them form a *questionable* relationship with Love Island UK alumni, Chris Hughes. Moving on to sport, we recap the weekend that was from Collingwood and Western Bulldogs' wins to the abysmal performance from the Adelaide Crows, and Caitlin's diminishing Boyfriend League. This week, we headed back to the cinemas to watch Until Dawn—a film adaptation of the popular PlayStation horror video game that allows players to choose their fate, but with a twist. Turning to more light-hearted viewing, Caitlin shares her initial thoughts on Seth Rogan's The Studio on Apple TV. Lastly, Caitlin reviews The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah before discussing her current read, Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson. Four sisters. Two sides of a fault line. Can love make a broken family whole? Best friends and sisters, the four Padavano girls bring loving chaos to their close-knit Italian American neighbourhood. William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him. So, when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano, it's as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family: Sylvie, the family's dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all. But when darkness from William's past begins to block the light of his future, it is Sylvie, not Julia, who becomes his closest confidante. The result is a catastrophic rift that leaves the family inhabiting two sides of a fault line. Can they find their way back to each other? Can love make a broken family whole? In this week's episode, we discuss the world's reaction to Katy Perry's 11-minute flight to space and our thoughts on Gayle King positioning the trip as a monumental milestone for feminism. Because we're a sports podcast, we review Round 6 of the AFL, with Collingwood looking strong as final contenders and Adelaide Crows' unconvincing win against GWS. We also deep dive into Willie Rioli's post slamming Hawthorn and the reaction from the public and the AFL. This week, we review our latest viewing starting with the Australian reality dating show Love Triangle (Stan) by the creators of MAFS. We then dive into our movie pick of the week: Conclave (Apple TV) — an arguably camp and dramatic look at the selection process for the next Pope starring Stanley Tucci, Ralph Fiennes, and John Lithgow. Caitlin shares her initial reviews of Your Friends & Neighbours (Apple TV) and the highly anticipated return of The Last of Us (HBO Max) starring Bella Ramsey and pod favourite, Pedro Pascal. We wrap with our latest reads: The One That Got Away by Mike Gayle, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, and The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. It's Gather Round, baby! We've spent the past three days at Adelaide Oval watching back-to-back AFL games as part of the greatest festival to ever happen in Adelaide. We kick-start the week with our Gather Round recap, before diving into the footy news of the week: the rise in online hate towards AFL WAGs. We take a look at Paris Tier and Chloe Pink, who both made headlines this week for speaking out about the barrage of fat-shaming comments they receive online, and a larger look at the way Australian society (particularly men) treat WAGs. We then review our viewing of the week, starting with Speak No Evil, the American remake of a 2022 Danish thriller/horror about a dream holiday that turns into a living nightmare when an American couple and their daughter spend the weekend at a British family's idyllic country estate. Moving on to documentaries, we discuss Netflix's latest Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing—a look at the rise of Piper Rockelle and how her mother, Tiffany, built a YouTube empire known as ‘The Squad' by exploiting and abusing minors. Lastly, Caitlin recaps season three of The White Lotus for Danika with a cursed, sped-up synopsis of the latest season with her thoughts on how it faired in comparison to earlier seasons. First things first, why on earth has yet another streaming service launched in Australia with the best of film and television moving to HBO's new platform, Max? Obviously, the start of this episode is us ranting about needing to sign up to yet another platform. We then dive into the much-needed update on the Mikaela Testa, Anna Paul, Atis Paul, and now Veruca drama circling the Australian influencer scene. This week, we watched the latest installment in the Bridget Jones franchise, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and share our thoughts on what could be one of the best romcoms of the year. Caitlin also reviews Netflix's The Life List, following Danika's recommendation last week to watch on behalf of everyone. We give our first impressions on this month's book club pick, Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano and Danika recaps her recent read of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Happy Monday, chickens! This week, we unpack the Remi Bader drama. We dissect her recent announcement on Khloe Kardashian's 'Khloe in Wonderland' podcast that she underwent SADI-S gastric bypass surgery in December 2023 after years of claiming natural weight loss and the subsequent internet backlash that's erupted. Moving onto the F1 drama of the week, we chat about Liam Lawson's challenging start and the subsequent decision to replace him with Yuki Tsunoda for the 2025 season. As Southern Charm wraps up season 10, we talk about part one of the reunion and Craig Conover announcing he is dating someone new following his recent split from Giggly Squad's Paige Desorbo. Finally, we review two new movies this week: the critically acclaimed film, Anora, directed by Sean Baker, and starring Mikey Madison and Mark Eydelshteyn and the divisive thriller Locked, starring Bill Skarsgård and Anthony Hopkins. So sorry for the late episode this week folks, we were busy jetskiing and watching footy at the pub. This week's shambles of an episode starts with the girly pops guide to the Australian Grand Prix (F1), before jumping into a recap of the Oscars earlier in the week. We both watched yet another true crime documentary, this time looking into one of the most insane and under-the-radar serial killer crimes of the 80s and 90s: The Fox Hollow Murders: Playground of a Serial Killer. The four-part series follows Jeff Jellison as he launches a new investigation decades after thousands of bones were found in the woods behind Fox Hollow Farms. Using new DNA technology, they work to identify the human remains, bringing closure to victims' families. Turning to Reality TV, we discuss this week's episodes of Bravo's Summer House and Southern Charm as both explore the depths of friendship. We then talk about Mike White's inspiration from Southern Charm for White Lotus Season 3. This week, we're diving into some hot topics, starting with the outrageously sexist remarks made by Triple M's Marty Sheargold during prime time radio. We discuss his shocking comments about the Matildas and his claims that endometriosis is a fabricated issue. In the true crime realm, Caitlin shares her thoughts on the gripping documentary series, Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke. This three-part investigation reveals the harrowing story of Ruby Franke, a former YouTube vlogger and mother of six, who was arrested for child abuse in August 2023 and sentenced to prison in February 2024 after pleading guilty to aggravated abuse against her children. On a lighter note, we discuss Mindy Kaling's brand-new comedy series on Netflix, Running Point. This entertaining 10-episode series stars Kate Hudson as a reformed party girl who unexpectedly takes charge of her family's pro basketball team and must prove her mettle as a businesswoman. For book lovers, Danika reviews her two latest reads: The Reformatory by Tananarive Due and The Widow's Husband's Secret by Frieda McFadden. Netflix's highly anticipated true crime documentary American Murder: Gabby Petito was released last week, looking at the infamous 2021 murder of Gabby Petito at the hands of her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie. Despite Caitlin's negative review of the first 6 episodes of Love is Blind season 8, she pushed through and watched the latest episodes, recounting the drama for us all, including the concerning number of toxic men who are simply looking for fame who were cast. First up, we dive headfirst into LIV Golf 2025 and our official realisation that we're done with lining up for things. In the world of Australian TikTok drama, we dissect the Jordan Tan vs. Jack McIntosh drama, unpacking the cringeworthy encounter and the important conversations it sparked about consent, boundaries, and male ego. We also call out Kayla Itsines for her hypocritical rant about "hyper-sexualised" fitness content, given her own history of profiting off women's body insecurities. We're drowning in reality TV lately. This week, we share our lukewarm takes on the latest season of Love is Blind. With the biggest cast ever, this Minneapolis season is surprisingly boring and forgettable. We're also back in the Hamptons with Summer House, discussing Paige and Craig's breakup, the cheating rumors, and Lexi and Jesse's hilarious dynamic. And of course, we can't forget MAFS. We break down all the couples, from Carina & Paul to Jacqui and Ryan and their "crazy eyes" drama. Plus, we discuss the brewing cheating scandal with Sierah and Adrian, and Morena's explosive appearance on Abbie Chatfield's podcast, where she spilled some serious tea (and maybe broke contract?). Finally, we wrap things up with Danika's latest read: The Wrong Daughter by Dandy Smith. This popcorn thriller about a kidnapping, family secrets, and unexpected twists is perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Jeneva Rose, or Sally Hepworth. It was the Grammys for the girls last week, with huge performances and wins by Docheii, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, plus Beyonce FINALLY went home with her first ever Album of the Year award. Netflix's latest series, Apple Cider Vinegar, was released over the weekend too and Caitlin shares her initial thoughts on the dramatised look at the life of wellness guru Belle Gibson, who had a large social media following, where she pretended to be suffering from cancer but keeping the disease under control using self-care therapies. She confessed that none of it was true. We recap a week of MAFS, with the couples entering challenge week. As always, the men proved to be weasels while the women were starting to realise they are too good for their ‘husbands'. We wrap this week's episode with Caitlin's review of The Reunion by Bronwyn Rivers: Ten years ago, six teenagers hiked into the Blue Mountains wilderness - and only five came out alive. The survivors have barely seen each other since the tragic bushwalk. Yet when an invitation arrives to attend a 10-year memorial of their friend's death, Hugh, Charlotte, Alex, Laura and Jack find themselves travelling back into the rugged landscape where it all began. The weekend at an isolated homestead in the bush - no phone signal, no distractions - should be a chance to reflect and reconnect. But each of the friends has been carrying secrets from the fateful hike. And someone will stop at nothing to get the truth. WELCOME TO THE DELULU DIARIES BOOK CLUB! Each month, we will be releasing a dedicated episode to our book club read for that month, and to kick things off, we're starting with The Ledge by Christian White. It all began in 1999 when sixteen-year-old Aaron ran away from home, drawing his friends into an unforeseeable chain of events that no one escaped from unscathed. In The Ledge, past and present run breathlessly parallel, leading to a climax that will change everything you thought you knew. This is a mind-bending new novel from the master of the unexpected. Despite our busy week, we managed to watch the first episode of the three part reunion for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City S5 (Hayu) and Apple TV's newest series starring Leo Woodall, Prime Target. We take an early look at an exciting new series by Mindy Kaling starring Kate Hudson called Running Point (Netflix), a basketball themed, workplace comedy dubbed the next Nobody Wants This by Mamamia. We then jump into our latest viewing: Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action (Netflix), Molly Mae Behind It All (Amazon Prime) and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City finale (Hayu), which might we add, was the most batshit and iconic finale ever (thanks Angie K). This week, Caitlin talks about her experience braving Sounds by the River with the oldies in 37-degree heat while Danika decompresses from her first week back at work. We discuss the tragic and terrifying fires in LA, from the TikToks we have seen to the celebrities impacted by the devastation and Spencer Pratt's unexpected success after losing his home. In a complete 180, we talk about Lily Allen's split from her husband, David Harbour, after finding him cheating on her. Earlier in the week, we made a visit to our favourite place on Earth, the cinema, and saw Nosferatu starring Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicholas Hoult. Happy New Year, girlie pops! We're diving deep into everything we've been watching and reading and what we're hyped for in 2025. First up, we're venturing into the world of body horror with The Substance (Amazon Prime), starring Demi Moore as a fading celebrity who takes drastic measures to reclaim her youth with some seriously freaky side effects. We also check back in with Seong Gi-hun in Squid Game Season 2 (Netflix). This season promises to be even more politically charged, with creator Hwang Dong-hyuk exploring the conflicts arising from the choices we make. Plus, we're spilling the tea on the K-pop connections! Then, we're blasting off into space with Alien: Romulus (Disney+), a thrilling addition to the Alien franchise. We rave about the acting, especially David Jonsson as the AI Andy, whose transformation is seriously mind-blowing. On the book front, we've got a mixed bag of reads. We start with the heartwarming yet grumpy charm of A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, followed by the mind-bending premise of The Husbands by Holly Gramazio, where changing a lightbulb changes your entire life (and husband!). We also discuss Talking at Night by Claire Daverley, a poignant love story spanning years and marked by tragedy. Our January book club pick, The Ledge by Christian White, gets some love, as does Evenings and Weekends by Oisin McKenna, a literary fiction gem reminiscent of Love Actually, exploring the lives of interconnected friends during a London heatwave. We also dive into more of Fredrik Backman's work with The Answer Is No, a short and sweet read about a man who hates decisions, and She's Always Hungry by Eliza Clark, a collection of short stories exploring human hunger and desire (which, sadly, didn't quite hit the mark for us). Finally, we celebrate the brilliance of Greta & Valdin by Rebecca K Reilly, a witty and chaotic story about siblings navigating adulthood and love. Merry Christmas, girlie pops! What a year it's been. This week, we unpack Blake Lively's lawsuit against It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni over sexual harassment and PR takedown accusations, which allegedly severely impacted Blake's public image. The internet's favourite criminal, Luigi Mangione might just be a star after all with two documentaries in the making: one with Anonymous Content and Jigsaw Productions and the other with Stephen Robert Morse (best known for the Amanda Nox documentary on Netflix). We discuss the trailer for Summer House S9 and talk about Southern Charm's slow start to season 10 before reviewing Netflix's latest Christmas thriller, Carry On. After a long year, not only did SZA finally release the SOS deluxe: LANA, but Caitlin also finished Sarah J Maas' series Throne of Glass, sharing her honest review of Kingdom of Ash and if the series is better than A Court of Thorns and Roses. Danika reviews her latest read, Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum. It's hard to believe we're nearing the end of the year with our second-to-last episode! What a year it has been! This week, we're diving deep into pop culture as we discuss the new allegations against Jay-Z related to the P. Diddy case, along with his public response and Forbes' analysis of that response. In other news, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco got engaged this week. At the same time, Brianna Chickenfry was caught slandering her best friend of 15 years, Grace O'Malley, in fan DMs. She completely tore Grace apart on this week's episode of BFFs with Josh Richards and Dave Portnoy. This week, we're angry on behalf of Brianna Chickenfry after watching the recent Barstool Sports podcast episode, BFFS, in which Bri shed light on what really went down in her relationship with Zach Bryan. Let the record show that since watching, we despise Zach, and this episode is dedicated to reinforcing what a small, pathetic man he truly is. In other news, we openly pair the people in our lives with Bob's Burgers characters and discuss the intimate details of Caitlin's medical appointments. Our read of the week is a horror book: The Exorcist's House by Nick Roberts. It tells the story of Daniel and Nora Hill, along with their daughter Alice, as they move from Ohio to an old farmhouse in West Virginia. Things get creepy when Daniel finds a boarded-up, hidden room in the basement adorned with crucifixes. Caitlin is proud to share that she finally finished the Throne of Glass tandem read (Empire of Dawns and Tower of Dawn) and is now embarking on the monster of all fantasy reads: Kingdom of Ash.
