(Note: the episode art is an itsy-bitsy preview of the full design that will be revealed on April 26th) One of our favorite Alien Day traditions is our annual t-shirt unveiling. Over the past near-decade, we've gotten to work with tons of gifted artists from around Alien fandom – and this year is VERY MUCH no exception. DeadDark – whose actual name is Ross, and who can be found on IG here (for his digital art @deaddark23) and here (for his tattooing @_deaddark) –  is a crazy talented artist/Alien Saga superfan. On today's episode, Perry and Patrick chat with Ross about all things xenomorph, and share a little preview of the art that will be fully unveiled on Alien Day (just four days from now!). Make sure you don't miss a thing on April 26th by following us on socials if you aren't already! The shirt will be unveiled in the afternoon, and it will be available at a promotional discount for a limited time. We often talk about how gorgeous the Alien films look. How lived-in they feel, how great the ship designs are, how iconic the creatures have become. But so much of what makes the Alien Saga special isn't visual at all: it's what they sound like. In today's episode, Jaime, Patrick, Christian, and Adam chat with Lee Gilmore, Alien: Romulus' Supervising Sound Editor, about the huge honor—and challenge—of adding to that rich sonic history with this new film.  Wondering how they got the Corbelan IV to sound so real? How they managed to make the xenomorph's iconic scream feel more terrifying than ever? Join as as Lee takes us on a journey through the amazing sound design of Alien: Romulus.

Also: auf geht's!!! More Content Talk: News That Cuts Through the B******t

Demi Lovato thinks you should stop calling aliens aliens because the aliens may have their alien feelings hurt. This is so interesting to me because now we are getting into the territory of protecting the feelings of those we do not even know exist. Even if they do exist, who is to say they would be offended by the term? Humans are the ones who are offended by that term, so I never refer to humans that way. But we have no evidence to suggest that an alien species would be anything like us. In fact, many scientists believes aliens do not even have emotions. So, what is the big deal here exactly? Always remember that ideas such as race, beauty and class are human social constructs that are bandied about for political gain. They have no real grounding in reality. We use them as tools to further our political agendas. I have never called a human immigrant an alien, but then again I have never called a human immigrant an immigrant either. I usually refer to them by their name. Why not just wait until you learn the name of someone or something before you call it anything at all? Why is there this need in people to classify things according to their political worldview? Because none of this is about protecting or respecting different species. It is about projecting worldviews into far away places that will one day become colonies of the planet earth. Where do you think this space exploration stuff is going? Do you think America would waste money to go to space if its government was not hell bent on conquering it? That is all this is. Over the years, I have grown tired of the moral conquests of both the left and the right. I am not interested anymore. I do not care what Demi Lovato thinks about aliens at all. I also do not understand why actors are allowed to pretend that they are scientists or linguists with no formal training whatsoever. These celebrities are not ambassadors of peace and good will. They are marketers for the various companies they work for. Do you really care what companies want you to call aliens? Hell, I do not even care if companies go out of business. I also find it a bit perturbing that vast amounts of money are generated from alien fantasies and no one seems to wonder who benefits from all of this hype. If you look into it you will find that organizations like SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) are receiving massive funding to basically sit around dreaming up little green men. Meanwhile, no one has the wherewithal to cure cancer or search for an aids vaccine or help you get dental insurance. Everyday, the alien thing is becoming more and more of rich man's vanity hobby, not the fun science fiction it once was. Even some scientists agree. "But some astronomers worry the funding boon is distorting science. Fernando Camilo, chief scientist of the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory, says Breakthrough Listen's voracious appetite for time on large telescopes leaves him uncomfortable. "It leaves less time to do astronomy." Others say SETI's high-risk, rush-for-the-prize approach could distract funders from a more rational, stepwise search for extraterrestrial life. "We do have a really thoughtful process on what gets funded and what doesn't," says Harvard University astronomer David Charbonneau. "That doesn't happen with rich individuals." (science.org) That is the key argument right there. Why are we wasting time looking for aliens when we have so many scientific problems we can solve with a more rational, evidence based approach? Is it the job of science to fulfill the fantasies of the wealthy? Perhaps that is why so many people refuse to understand science. Perhaps they have grown tired of playing the rich person's game. Religion remains more attractive to many than science specifically because of odd projects like these. A church gives at least some money to the poor. Demi Lovato gives her money to failed astronomers. It's easy to write off Alien Resurrection as the black sheep of the Alien Saga. Whether you love it or you hate it—or both at the same time—you can't deny there's a lot to talk about. In this riotous roundtable, Ryan, Patrick, Clara, and Dave revisit this crazy film and try to figure out what works and what doesn't. Along the way, they deal with some pretty deep questions: Is Dave's dad a prophet? Was Michael Wincott the inspiration for Christian Bale's Batman voice? How much K-Y Jelly is too much K-Y Jelly? As we come closer to the end of our In Defense of Alien 3 series, we're excited to launch this new miniseries on Resurrection.  Anyone up for some basketball?  // For more on this and our other projects, please visit www.perfectorganism.com. // If you’d like to join the conversation, find us on our closed Facebook group: Building Better Worlds // To support the show, please consider visiting www.perfectorganism.com/support. As Alien fans, we’ve become used to change. Different directors; different scripts; different planets; different eras; different timelines; even different film studios. With everything so constantly in flux, it’s easy to forget that Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff, Jr. have been there since nearly the very beginning. From their pioneering work on Aliens, to the foundation of the legendary Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc., Gillis and Woodruff have been at the vanguard of the effects industry for more than three decades. In this exclusive, unprecedented interview, our very own JM Prater visited Gillis and Woodruff at Studio ADI in Hollywood for a sit-down conversation about their love for the Alien Saga, their relationships with the fans, and much, much more. // For more on this and our other projects, please visit www.perfectorganism.com. // If you’d like to join the conversation, find us on our closed Facebook group: Building Better Worlds // To support the show, please consider visiting www.perfectorganism.com/support. In this minisode—the first in a series of three—Ryan tackles the horrifying, fascinating script written by legendary sci-fi figure William Gibson all the way back in 1987. Gibson's script, which he titled Alien III, explodes with innovative ideas, memorable characters, and high-budget setpieces. Although it was never filmed (and indeed was followed by nearly a dozen subsequent script rewrites), Gibson's ghostly story has influenced subsequent Alien Saga films in some very real and noticeable ways—perhaps none more so than Alien: Covenant. Before we got Alien 3, we nearly had Alien III. This is its story.   * For more on this and our other projects, please visit www.perfectorganism.com. * If you'd like to join the conversation, find us on our closed Facebook group: search for "Building Better Worlds". * To support the show, please consider visiting www.perfectorganism.com/support. Joining us for PART ONE of our Alien series are the Women in Caskets (@womenincaskets), Dawn and Jen. We're big fans of their Austin-based podcast and their unique perspective on the horror genre. Together we dissect, analyze, and love all over the Alien series founded by Ridley Scott, Dan O'Bannon and Sigourney Weaver. Covering Alien, and Aliens we talk legacy, xenomorphs, and the indomitable Ellen Ripley. With plenty of behind-the-scenes details, we nerd out over these sci-fi horror cornerstones.
