Today's episode of The Rollercoaster Podcast takes you on an intense and emotional ride as we sit down with Brickman Allen, a man who faced the unimaginable and lived to tell the tale. In a harrowing, gut-wrenching encounter, Brickman was attacked in the dead of night—stabbed seven times while he slept beside his pregnant wife. The intruder had broken in with the intent to rob their home, but what followed was a fight for survival that tested Brickman's strength, resilience, and will to protect his family. In this gripping interview, Brickman recounts the horrifying moments of that night—how he fought off the intruder despite his life-threatening injuries, the terrifying reality of protecting his wife and unborn child, and the sheer instinct that took over when faced with an unthinkable situation. But beyond the trauma and pain, this story is also about healing. Brickman takes us through his long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally, and shares his powerful perspective on resilience and the strength it takes to move forward.Perhaps most remarkably, this is a story of forgiveness. Despite enduring such a brutal attack, Brickman's journey is not just one of survival but of understanding and finding peace after unimaginable violence. His words will leave you inspired, shaken, and deeply moved as he shares how this experience changed him and what it means to truly let go. Texas Slim makes a spirited return to broadcasting with his brand-new series, "Yeehaw! Cowboy Talk." This series promises a mix of heartfelt, random musings with a healthy dose of sarcasm and that distinctive West Texas Dirt Road Twang. Slim plans to share tales of his adventures and insights, offering a glimpse into his life, his beginnings, and his clear vision for the future. As someone who's traveled extensively, covering 160k miles across three continents and circling the globe 1.5 times in less than three years, he brings a wealth of experience and stories, especially from his quest for global #BeefIntelligence.Slim is setting the stage for a modern-day, local and global cattle drive, calling on listeners to gear up for some "catastrophic winds" ahead. He hints at exciting, challenging times, urging his audience to embrace integrity and focus, drawing parallels between life's trials and the journey of a professional team roper learning the ropes. Highlighting the foundational spirit of the American Cowboy, Slim shares anecdotes of camaraderie and resilience, from East Texas's distinct accent to the humorous and sometimes perilous cowboy life, including his own air-lifting adventure across the southern Rockies.Announcing a grand vision for a "Worldwide #BeefIntelligence Kingdom Series" dubbed the new International Lifestyle, Slim intertwines his personal adventures with broader themes of market access, spirit, and freedom. He passionately speaks about combating what he sees as threats to children's innocence and the "Harvest of Deception," signaling a bold stance against undisclosed adversaries. With a nod to his roots and the "True Grit" instilled by his West Texas upbringing, Slim is poised to embark on a mission filled with purpose and determination. In addition to his storytelling, Slim plans to share "Slimisms" and his love for West Texas Red Dirt music, giving shoutouts to local talents like Randall King and their shared dirt road heritage.Stay tuned for "Yeehaw! Cowboy Talk" for a blend of tales, insights, and music from the heart of Texas, as told by Texas Slim himself.Transcript: Hey, I miss ya'll….I'm back~At least as far as doing that hippy-punk-cowboy kinda talkin….dang do I have some stories to share. This new series that I am calling “Yeehaw - Hippy-punk-cowboy talk” is going to be random, it's going to come from the heart, and it will have some sarcasm and a little West Texas Dirt Road Twang to it. I've been to a few places and I've done a few things throughout my  lifetime and now it's time to give you some perspective of who this ole boy is, the vision I had in the beginning and the very clear vision I currently have. And we're all going to move forward together….time to step up and focus in on the true art of story tellin.I'll tell ya one thing, it's time to pull the trigger folks! A train wreck is coming but don't go frettin…we built out a new rail system and the rail transition is ready to go. We've tested and have the results to prove it.I'll be tellin' ya'll stories of my life, which started out by me looking up at the sky. I come from the “Llano Estacado,” the “Dessert High Plains” a place that is referred to as the “Caprock” and the land of the Comanches, “Comancheria”. THE Texas Panhandle! THE World Headquarters of the Beef Initiative and the I Am Texas Slim Foundation. And boy howdy has it been one hell of a ride. 160k miles driven, 3 continents explored, 1.5 trips around the globe all on the quest for the most fascinating journey and exploration of global #BeefIntelligence the the world has ever had….and all that done in less than 3 years….you should hear about the prior 40 before that…Oh, and btw it's just getting started so, let's all pay attention and get a new “Yeehaw” swagger that is ready to scream across the world. We are about to start the next local and global modern-day cattle drive and every one of you is a hired hand and it's time to pull yourselves up by your bootstraps and saddle up.We have got some catastrophic winds coming our way and I am going to do my best to communicate what I see and how the next two years are going to play out from my perspective. Since I just hired ya'll on, I'm going to tell you what your job is and what tasks you are going to have moving forward. If we do a good job I'll be throwing a big ole International Cattleman's Feast and it will be on me. I'll just ask that you start living with integrity, and with a new focus. It takes a little practice at first but you'll get the hang of it. Kinda like how ole Cole Bolton became a professional team roper. One miss at a time. He always saddles back up, he and his roping partner take a deep breath, and as a team, they go get the job done one calf at a time. Cole don't talk much about his skills, but he has many at his disposal.Folks, the Beef Initiative was started with a foundational spirit that is extremely rare and extremely sought after, it's the spirit of the great American Cowboy.See, I am punchy as hell, I'm from West Texas…Ole Cole, he's from East Texas, I think he talks funny.Anyways, back to the cowboy spirit I was referring to. There are so many cowboys that behave and talk funny in so many ways. Ole Jason Wrich, a stern talker he is!I can't wait to get back on the stage with Jason at the 2nd Colorado Beef Initiative Summit…His Colorado Cowboy slur kinda straightens your posture up for you. You need to come try it. He'll put your butt at attention!See cowboys do a lot of hard, difficult, funny, and stupid things. Did I ever tell you the time I got airlifted across the southern Rockies? Hell, come to find out I was in a chopper, not a Cessna. I could have swore I was a glidin, not choppin… that morphine was strong, I‘ll give it that much…To be clear. We're all tough as shit. Kinda overly hard-headed, soft at the right times but most of all we are the ones you want to be looking at and listening to. So, I am going to throw in some “Yippe-Ki Yay” and we are going to start a big ole production here.I'm going to use ya'll as my dress rehearsal to start broadcasting a Worldwide #BeefIntelligence Kingdom Series I call the new International L...

Disclaimer: This conversation includes graphic content, violence, and other mature themes that some may find triggering or disturbing. Listener discretion is advised. On September 11, 2001, life as we knew it changed forever. From the devastating attacks to the hijacked planes to the Pentagon to the first responders-- many lives were lost, and families were destroyed. These events were monumental moments in history, but they also made seemingly small, daily moments that most take for granted an impossibility for some. Some children would never know what it's like to feel their mom or dad's hands in theirs, and some would never even meet their parent. Husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, daughters, and sons never returned to the dinner table or had the chance to pick up the phone to hear the latest news from their family. There were so many victims from all walks of life and categories. One community not often thought of as victims of 9/11 is the Muslim community. After 9/11, rampant fear and anger raced through the US, leading to an increase in hate crimes against the Muslim community. In today's conversation, Rais Bhiyuan, an immigrant from Bangladesh, shares his story. He grew up watching classic Western television shows portraying a wholesome, positive image of the American Cowboy. These stories depicted cowboys standing up for the ideals that this country represents, inspiring the rest of the world to follow suit. Rais came to America to experience this for himself. However, in the days following 9/11, a man with a mission to harm anyone from the Muslim community walked in and ultimately shot Rais in the face. Thankfully and miraculously, my guest survived. As if the trauma of being shot wasn't enough, his recovery was arduous, and figuring out how to pay for urgently needed medical treatments without insurance became another traumatic nightmare that added to his ordeal. What's remarkable is not only Rais' survival but also how he chose to respond to his shooter and how he chose to move forward despite this life-changing pain. This is a powerful story of survival, goodness, unbelievable resilience, empathy, and love for one's country. Listen in as Rais shares details of what happened that awful day, how he managed to survive, what he's learned, and you'll be absolutely amazed at what he's doing now. We shall never forget 9/11 and those we lost. Yes, it was a devastating day with unimaginable loss and pain, and yes there was palpable fear and hate, but there was also a beautiful display of unity, love, bravery, and humanity that emerged in the aftermath of 9/11. We all exemplified the very principles that America represents—and that is something we should never forget. Because during the darkest days in US history, we were at our absolute best. Tune in to listen to my conversation with Vicki Wilson, one of New Zealand's top equestrians. I first met Vicki during the inaugural Kaimanawa Stallion Challenge in '14 and we were both presenters/clinicians at the national horse expo for many years.   About Vicki Wilson: Vicki Wilson was riding not long after she could walk. She started competitive showjumping at 15, and began working full time with horses when she was about 17 years old in the far north of New Zealand. After working her way up from local gymkhanas, Vicki has won more awards at the New Zealand Horse of the Year show than any other rider in history. Winning the World Cup in 2014 took her showjumping career to another level, and she's now one of New Zealand's most successful riders. Outside of the competition arena, Vicki has a special talent for working with ‘difficult' horses and can start any young horse. She is hugely proud of her work with the local Kaimanawa wild horses, the wild brumbies of Australia and American mustangs. Vicki has started hundreds of young horses and has a very specific philosophy that puts the welfare of the horse first and produces “a happy horse that loves its work”. Vicki cemented her place as one of the world's most highly respected horsewomen after winning World Championship of Colt Starting title at the Road to the Horse in both 2017 & 2018. Vicki Wilson Equine Therapy is aimed at helping as many sore horses as possible. She believes there's no such thing as a problem or naughty horse and that undesirable behaviour is almost always a symptom of pain or fear. https://www.vickiwilson.nz/ Vicki Wilson (facebook.com) Vicki Wilson (@vickiwilsonequestrian)   About Life In The Saddle Podcast: Join horseman Ben Longwell, an American Cowboy living in New Zealand, as he shares stories & adventures and interviews extraordinary men and women in the equine and ranching industries to gain insight into horsemanship and life itself. Jason Cook is an American Cowboy that had a huge influence by his great grandfather.  When someone tries to explain the term “humble”, they just need to have a 5 minute conversation with Jason.  He believes in a solid foundation is the root to all great horses!  To excel with your equine you need to have consistency and quality.  In smartness, he ranks equine in this order (in general):  Mules, mares, studs, and geldings.  He is more of a horse man and prefers mares!  That right there is enough reason to admire this man.  The next paragraph was taken from a flier of a clinic that was at Von Holten Ranch.  www.jc-horsemanship.comThis clinic will work on creating a versatile horse with a focus on body positioning, creating a giving equine, and rating to different speeds. If you have a horse that is SOUR to competing, this is an area of specialty for Jason.   Jason is a professional competitor and judge in numerous ranch and stock horse associations.

It was a lot of fun (and thought-provoking!) to visit with Anna, after having met her at Equidays here in New Zealand in '18. She has such a way with horses and words!  Anna Blake is a horse advocate, trainer, international clinician, and award-winning author of six books. Anna believes affirmative training principles build a Relaxed & Forward foundation that crosses over all riding disciplines in the same way that the understanding of Calming Signals benefits all equine communication. We hold a profound concern for the horse's mental and physical welfare. “It's serious training but I keep a light heart because horses like us that way.” At home at Infinity Farm, on the windy treeless prairie of Colorado, with a multi-species herd of horses, llamas, goats, dogs, and our moral compass, Edgar Rice Burro.   www.AnnaBlake.com  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/relaxedforward/  Facebook Author https://www.facebook.com/AnnaBlake.Author/    Instagram  @annamblake9 Twitter: @anna Blake    About American Cowboy In New Zealand Podcast: Join horseman Ben Longwell, an American Cowboy living in New Zealand, as he shares stories & adventures and interviews extraordinary men and women in the equine and ranching industries to gain insight into horsemanship and life itself.
