So, if your dog is reactive, tends to chase things like squirrels while you're screaming at her to come back, or scavenges everything he finds on the ground, you'll learn some helpful tips and tricks you can apply today. From creating games that match your dog's passions, to talking to your dog as a practice, Simone answers listener questions, and shares some really practical ways you can help your dog be more dog in a safe and fun way. Today's Topic: Do you have a dog that just LIVES to hunt? And do those hunting behaviors, whether it's orienting, stalking, chasing, and even killing and eating, get in the way of how you would like to live your day-to-day life with your dog? That's why we've invited certified dog trainer, dog behavior consultant, and the author of two books on force-free anti-predation training, “Hunting Together” and “Rocket Recall”, to the pod, to discuss why it's so hard to get our dog's attention when they're in hunting mode, why striving to get ride of the predatory instinct can cause more harm than good, how to work with your dog's predatory instincts instead of against it, why showing interest in your dog's hunting behaviors can build your bond, and so much more!Guest Bio: Simone Mueller, MA is a certified dog trainer and dog behavior consultant (ATN) from Germany. What do you do with a dog that chases or hunts critters or other things in general? What do you do to work with predatory behavior or predation? A prevailing mindset is to stop those behaviors using an aversive or punishing the behavior. I'm joined by one of the experts on this topic, Simone Mueller, and we discuss many alternative options to punishment using positive reinforcement based strategies to work with what is often considered a difficult type of behavior to deal with. In this week's episode, we're taking two tips from my free ebook 21 Tips to succeed as a freelance trainer. You need to write your profile and you need to be passionate.
You don’t yet have your own clients but you want to work as a trainer? No problem. Here are 5 steps to stand out and get hired as an associate trainer!
“To thine own self be true.” You know I love a good Shakespeare reference! We switched things up a bit for today’s show. Since we started the Heroes For Her podcast last year, we’ve had only two male guests: Joel Smallbone from for KING & Country and the amazing other half of the Bible Belles founder team, Brent Weidemann. Our #3 is Pastor Van Moody! As a pastor, speaker, and leadership trainer, Van Moody’s voice has been heard around the world at the 30th Anniversary of the March on Washington, with Pope John Paul II and his Pontifical Council in Rome, Italy, and in Tokyo, Japan as an Associate Trainer for Dr. John Maxwell’s leadership organization, EQUIP. Most recently, he became a member of Dr. Oz’s Core Team and is featured on the Dr. Oz Show on ABC. He lives in Birmingham, Alabama with his wife, Dr. Ty, and their two children, Eden Sydney and Ethan Isaiah. Van Moody has a passion for healthy transformation in individuals, organizations and the world. In today’s episode, he breaks down The I Factor: the three dynamics that are essential to understanding ourselves and discovering what God has for all of us. He talks about how identity significance, and perspective are the keys to managing yourself – your whole life – well. We talked about how these ideas apply to parenting and helping our children live healthy, purpose-filled lives from the inside out. Don’t miss today’s episode, “Intentional Parenting: The I Factor”, and find out more about how to help our kids know who they are, see purpose and greatness in what they were created for, and view the problems they face as stepping stones rather than stumbling blocks.

“Open data” and “big data” are the current buzzwords, but does the public know what these terms really mean, or are they the preserve of nerds, developers and policy wonks? Jonathan Stoneman has spent the last six months analysing the impact of open data on journalism, and has written a working paper for the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Even he was surprised by some of his findings. Jonathan is an Associate Trainer at the ODI. He was a journalist and editor as well as Head of Training at BBC World Service until 2010. As a freelance trainer and consultant he specialises in data journalism with open data. Jonathan is a contributor to the book “Data journalism: Mapping the Future”, which is being published on 4 November.
