Kevin Feige opens up about Phase 5, Kang, and the future of the MCU https://ew.com/movies/kevin-feige-marvel-phase-5-exclusive-interview/ Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that fans will see Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige brought up Moon Knight's MCU future during a conversation with Entertainment Weekly about the initial wave of Marvel-produced Disney+ series, which included the six-episode Moon Knight series. "The fun thing about streaming is they are there forever, and people can keep re-exploring them," Feige said. "Moon Knight, same thing. I think there's a future for that character as we move forward." Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has provided an update on Spider-Man 4. During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Feige was asked if there were any updates on Spider-Man 4, following the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. While his response was short, he did indicate the story is already settled for Peter Parker's next adventure. Feige said, "All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now." Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige "reveals" which character from The Marvels steals the upcoming film. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Feige discussed what the major takeaways were for Marvel Studios during Phase 4, which introduced several new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a variety of films and television shows. "I hope we learn something on every project," he said. "I was very pleased with everything that we did. Kamala Khan, for instance, is a great new character in the pantheon. I'm very proud of the Ms. Marvel show. I also know — and this is a spoiler — she essentially steals The Marvels, which is coming out [July 28]. It makes me excited that people will, I hope, see that movie and then go back and revisit those shows on Disney+." The Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Blade, starring Mahershala Ali as the famous vampire hunter, will shoot in about two and a half months, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Feige was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly about the MCU's Phase Five, which begins with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and ends with an all new Blade in late 2024. When asked if he had any updates on Blade, Feige didn't disclose many details but confirmed that the film is moving along smoothly. "It's going well," Feige said. "Our director Yann [Demange] is down in Atlanta right now. Cameras roll in, like, the next 10 weeks or so." Insider reports previously claimed that Blade wouldn't begin shooting until July, but Feige's projected start date of 10 weeks means the movie will begin shooting this spring. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently confirmed that Harrison Ford's Thunderbolt Ross is the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new U.S. President. Feige confirmed that Ross will move into the Oval Office in Captain America: New World Order in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "[Ross is] the President of the United States in the film," he said. "And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One, and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the President of the United States in a way that is just incredible." Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addressed the ever-expanding scope of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, pointing out that it was necessary to release a wide variety of films and television shows while noting that not everything would necessarily appeal to everyone. "If there's a Marvel Studios method -- like there was a Marvel method in publishing -- it's trying to do both," Feige told Entertainment Weekly when asked about balancing ongoing MCU story threads with capturing new audiences. "I've talked about this for years: If you want to dip in and out and just go to the movies on a Friday night or watch a streaming series, you can do that. And if you want to follow along, there's certainly much more to be discovered. But we don't ever want it to seem exclusive or that you need to have done your homework before watching something. Now, I've also realized that a lot of people like to do the homework. A lot of people find the fun in the homework and the continuity and the connectivity. But it is a balance of always trying to do both." Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes will play an essential role in the highly-anticipated Thunderbolts movie. Speaking with EW, Feige teased that Bucky Barnes will become the de facto leader of this group of complicated individuals who don't even consider themselves heroes. "What's fun about that [Thunderbolts film], and I sort of said this at D23, is that they are barely heroes," Feige said. "None of them would consider themselves heroes. When your de facto leader is Bucky Barnes, that's sort of all you need to know. That's the trickle down." According to Kevin Feige, the 'Previously On' recap could be less important for upcoming Marvel TV shows as they might experiment with more traditional episodic structures. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Feige stated that "[w]e want to do shows that can only be shows. I want to continue to make them even more episodic, which may seem counterintuitive. But I do think there is something fun about leaning back and watching an episode that can be relatively self-contained." He pointed to watching episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation to illustrate the pleasures of less overarching TV storytelling: "I still find it soothing to watch an episode of Next Gen with a beginning and an end. So, I think we're going to keep experimenting with that going forward." When it comes to upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has one, in particular, he's most looking forward to. "...We talked a little bit about Secret Wars. We talked about Kang Dynasty as related to Quantumania," Feige told Entertainment Weekly, referencing the MCU's current storylines and reflecting on future projects. "The only other one in terms of me personally and my 23-year history is the Fantastic Four. We sort of talked about mutants and that whole aspect to the Marvel world, but Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics. There's certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that's something that is really exciting for us." The Marvels Bumps Its Release Date Back to Late 2023 https://www.cbr.com/the-marvels-release-date-late-2023/ Marvel Studios has delayed its upcoming Phase 5 title The Marvels from summer 2023 to late 2023. Announced alongside a brand-new teaser poster for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel, The Marvels is now scheduled to open in theaters on Nov. 10. This is the fifth release date for The Marvels, which was originally scheduled to open back in July 2022. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was delayed to November 2022 and then February 2023. Marvel Studios had previously had the film set to open on July 28 for this latest delay. No reason was given by Marvel Studios for the film's delay; however, a recent report has claimed that Marvel is looking at having more breathing room between MCU projects to prevent audience fatigue as well as allow the creative times more time in post-production. The report mentions that the Disney+ series Echo and Ironheart are no longer guaranteed to debut in 2023 because of these changes and that development on other projects -- like the rumored Nova series -- will slow down. However, the insiders did not mention if the MCU films would be affected by this decision, so it is impossible to say if that is the reason for The Marvels' delay until Marvel Studios confirms the report, which it has yet to do at the time of writing. REPORT: Kevin Feige Is Eyeing Disney's Top Creative Position https://www.cbr.com/kevin-feige-walt-disney-studios-chairman-promotion While Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige's presence has been ubiquitous for fans following news about the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its 2008 inception, he's reportedly vying for a higher position. Feige, according to The Hot Mic podcast's Jeff Sneider, is looking to ascend the leadership ladder at Disney, specifically for the position of Walt Disney Studios Chairman. The position in question, currently occupied by Alan Bergman, is essentially the second-highest in the entire Disney corporate structure, just below the #1 spot of the recently reinstated CEO Bob Iger. Feige has long-coveted the position, and "wants to be the #2 at Disney," according to Sneider, who said that he has designs for "being the creative absolute head of a studio who can put his fingerprints on everything and leave maybe the business stuff to someone in the Iger-type of seat, who has to oversee parks, resorts and cruise ships." Indeed, he adds that the longtime Marvel Studios overseer "aspires to be more than the head of a label." How Kang Became Marvel's Next Supervillain and Why Phase 4 Sets It All Up https://gizmodo.com/kang-the-conqueror-mcu-marvel-phase-5-stephen-broussard-1850094830 While Tony Stark/Iron Man started the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios executive Stephen Broussard recently shared disappointing news about MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr. possibly returning to the franchise. While speaking to io9, Broussard said that he thought one of Phase 4's meta-narratives centered on new characters and mantles taken up by the latest heroes. "If you look at, like, Cassie [Lang in Quantumania] getting a suit and Kate Bishop [in Hawkeye], new characters being introduced like Jack in Werewolf by Night," he explained. "After these first 10 years of Marvel storytelling, torches are being passed, like with Robert Downey Jr. no longer being [on the] table and stuff like that. So it was kind of like a new generation stepping to the forefront which, again, has always happened in the comics." DISNEY+ Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Releases Its First Episode Online for Free https://www.cbr.com/marvel-moon-girl-devil-dinosaur-episode-free/ The double-length premiere episode of Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is available to stream online for free. The premiere, titled "Moon Girl Landing," was released on YouTube the same day it aired on Disney Channel. The show follows Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White), a 13-year-old super-genius living in Manhattan, whose portal experiment accidentally summons a cherry-red Tyrannosaurus rex (Fred Tatasciore). Encouraged by her new friend and manager Casey (Libe Barer), Lunella dons a costume and an arsenal of homemade gadgets to protect the Lower East Side alongside the beast as the duo Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. However, when the two come across a genuine supervillain in the form of the electrically-powered Aftershock (Alison Brie), Lunella fears she may not actually have what it takes to be a hero. Disney+'s X-Men Season 2 Gets Announcement Video https://thedirect.com/article/disney-x-men-season-2-announcement-video Wolverine voice actor Cal Dodd has confirmed that he is already working on the second season of the Disney+ animated series X-Men '97, Marvel Studios' upcoming follow-up to the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series. Aber was passiert dabei eigentlich? QuellenNatanaelsson, Christian, et al. You're listening to Danny, on WHAT : DE HEK podcast. This is the place where I share my experience, knowledge and skills.[00:00:25] Hello, I'm Danny de Hek. And this is WHAT : DE HEK podcast. I'm facilitating my own meeting today and this is what I call one of my personal rant podcasts. Now, I don't know if you subscribe to my channel, but you may have noticed I haven't actually done any podcasts in for quite some time. I discovered an app called clubhouse and I learned so much about podcasting.[00:00:25] I had to upgrade my gear and go through a whole learning process once again. And I want to share the journey of becoming a podcaster with you. So if you were like me, you probably have a laptop and you're probably thinking I could become a podcaster. I can just get a microphone and start recording. Wow.[00:00:45] Have I got news for you? Now my journey started by listening to other podcasts and finding the right gear. So today what I'd like to do is just run through some of the gear that I've had, um, that I recommend that I have found good for me. First thing you would probably need, if you were getting into podcasting is maybe a microphone.[00:01:11] Now what I'm going to do, I'm just going to flip into a web browser and I'm going to show you the microphones that I use. This is what you call an auto auto microphone, which is a BP40. Now I stumbled across these microphones because originally when I was getting into podcasts, I was trying to record a group of 15 people in a room.[00:01:36] And I got a blue Yeti mic. If you ever have one of those and this you're a musician, well, you've got yourself set up in a perfectly sound balanced room. Do not use a blue Yeti mic, just my opinion. Fall on your feet and get yourself a dynamic microphone, diabetes. I actually got two of these microphones and I'll just get my head out of it.[00:01:55] Uh, and I had them in a room that was shaped like a horseshoe and I put two, these one each end of the room and it did capture the sound pretty good. However, it probably, um, wasn't even the right title of area was space to be able to record a podcast COVID Cape. And I cut it all my gear back home. And at the time I was using an app.[00:02:21] Six by zoom, which is a recording device, and that was adequate for myself. But when I started wanting to record other people who were online, like, um, recording things over zoom or river, Riverside.fm, or, um, Zencastr, or, uh, stream labs or stream yard at the camera, a whole different complicated stuff.[00:02:46] Sorry. First of all, what I did is I went out and got myself a RØDECaster Pro, and I'm just going to get the ball. Ooh, the box. Okay. Yeah, I wrote RØDECasters are absolutely awesome. Now the theory, first, one of these I've got, we'll just put it back on the floor. I got up home from the shop and I put it on the counter and it was buckled and every time I pushed the button.See Full TXT Script at https://www.dehek.com/general/podcast/podcasting-equipment-and-software-for-the-beginner-podcaster/Who is DANNY : DE HEK? – In short I'm a connector, podcaster, blogger a person of influence, I'm that guy who knows everybody and I've put together my website to show what I'm passionate about. Do you want to start a podcast and don’t know where to begin?I’m an active Podcaster and I asked the very same question when I wanted to start. I’ve been in the Internet marketing space since 1995. Setting up a Podcast is one of the most easiest things I have done.First thing I would do would be to buy a high-quality recording device. The one I got was a bit of an overkill, but still very affordable. My recommendation is the ‘ZOOM H6 Handy Recorder‘ they range from NZ$500-$700 as it all depends on where you shop, make sure you get a genuine one from one of their approved suppliers.Six interchangeable input capsules make the ZOOM H6 the ultimate recorder for film, video, podcast and music. Its advanced preamps make it the best-sounding one, too. Unmatched abilities. Award-winning quality. You may not need any additional microphones with the ZOOM H6, however if you do an ideal studio microphone would be the Audio-Technica BP40 broadcast vocal microphone offers a rich, natural, condenser-like sound from a large-diaphragm dynamic design. I also use the Blue Yeti Pro USB Microphone because I wanted a mike where I can record multiple people in a room at the same time, the Yeti Pro provides three custom condenser capsules with four distinct recording patterns and you need that to record multiple people. Not a necessity, however it’s good to have some audio editing software, As I like to bookend my podcast with an intro and outro. I have been using Camtasia you can use it to get the best sound out of your recordings.Next, you need a podcast hosting service. I joined a Podcasting Facebook group that had over 26,000 members, and I asked the person who ran the group what one he would recommend, and he gave me a link to Buzzsprout. The real exciting thing for me was that I wanted my podcast to appear in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and more. The new feature is available in preview form now (at NAB) and should be widely available in the summer for both Mac and Windows 10 users. Skype for Content Creators records calls directly through NDI-capable software like Wirecast, Xsplit, and Vmix. The feature provides "clean" copies of all call participants that you can quickly drop into audio and video production apps, so you can focus more on the content and publishing of your show, and less on double-checking everyone's recordings. I detail how I mixed an episode using the wrong Sonarworks profile, and then had to correct it. Because I had already done many edits, it wasn’t an option to go back to the mix and adjust the individual tracks. Lastly: Congrats to the current students enrolled in PES! So this week as I prepared to publish an episode of the Logical Weight Loss Podcast, I took notes. There is one key point here. Length of time spent on and episode does NOT equal more downloads. You can spend all day working on content that doesn't connect with you audience. So here is what I did. First based on the ideas in the book [easyazon_link identifier="0849921902" locale="US" tag="sop2-20"]Secrets of Dynamic Communications: Prepare with Focus, Deliver with Clarity, Speak with Power[/easyazon_link] I came up with my main idea. Which is, "Based on mainstream media, it is easy to feel out of place if you are alone for the holidays. This along with the numerous activities of the holidays can lead to stress, and stress can lead to emotional eating." That is where I started. Here is a little confession. Last year I was "Alone" for the holidays. It turned out it wasn't that bad. Different? Sure. Bad? Nope. I wanted to help anyone who might be feeling down for the holidays. So I set out for strategies and insights for those who are alone on the holidays. I started with Google. I looked through about 10 articles, and ended up reading five. I pulled from my own experiences. I looked into resources for people who really were in a bad place and then made sure they were legit. I then went down a rabbit hole, when I found iPrevail. A pretty cool website that offers live chat for those who need to talk, and for those who want to go deeper, the offer some online courses. Intrigued, I signed up and took one. Note: This wasn't needed to complete the episode, but I always go with the thought "If it interests me, it probably interests my audience." I then looked at the holidays, and tried to find things that might be entertaining. I injected some humor to stop the episode from being so dark. I found examples I thought people could relate to (overly gushy Jewelry commercials), decorating a Christmas Tree, and weird family members. All of these to point out that the holidays are not a world of splendor filled with Rainbows and Lollipops. I took some time to figure out what topics I wanted to hit first. In other words, I tried to take the smattering of ideas and organize them into a stream of ideas that flowed nicely. I also through in a quick segment on an egg cooker I recently purchased. Finally I recorded it. My show notes were pretty done as I now make my show notes first to organize my thoughts. I recorded directly into my [easyazon_link identifier="B00KCXMBES" locale="US" tag="sop2-20"]Zoom H5 Four-Track Portable Recorder[/easyazon_link] , and then took that recording and put it into Hindenburg Journalist ,and added the intro and outro music along with some transition music. If you need music check out podcastingresources.com. I uploaded the file to Libsyn.com and copied and pasted the file into my Wordpress (as this is an old site, I'm still using the PowerPress plugin, if this was a new show I would use the Libsyn plugin). Use the coupon sopfree when signing up at Libsyn.com to get a free month (in addition to the current month) . Podcast Microphone Shootout $300 Range All prices are based on Amazon. Audio Techncia BP40 (Full Loaded $547) Microphone #1 Was [easyazon_link identifier="B00VXSVF6G" locale="US" tag="sop2-20"]Audio Technica BP40 Large-Diaphragm Dynamic Broadcast Microphone[/easyazon_link] is $349. I would recommend the Rode PSA1 Arm ($99) Heil PR40 ( Fully Loaded $495) Microphone #2 Was the [easyazon_link identifier="B000SOYOTQ" locale="US" tag="sop2-20"]Heil PR-40 Dynamic Studio Recording Microphone[/easyazon_link]. You would still need a pop filter or Wind Screen I had set the volume the same for all microphones and found them all were about the same. You might want to pick up a Fet head to boost the signal of the PR40 Electrovoice RE320 ( fully Loaded $507) Microphone #3 is the [easyazon_link identifier="B00KCN83VI" locale="US" tag="sop2-20"]EV RE320 Variable-D Dynamic Vocal and Instrument Microphone[/easyazon_link] which costs $294. The [easyazon_link identifier="B003BQ2DKK" locale="US" tag="sop2-20"]Electro-Voice 309A Suspension Shockmount (for RE20 or RE27ND)[/easyazon_link] is $99. Here again you need a pop filter, or a Windscreen and a Rode PSA1 boom arm. Why Did We Hear Microphone #3 Twice? (the RE320) because it has a bass roll off switch, and for me (my opinion) I thought that was the best of the tree. The first two (to my ear) sounded almost identical. I love the shock mount for the BP40 (it is specially made fpr the microphone and makes getting the mic in and out super easy. According to my kitchen food scale, the RE320 was the heaviest at 1.7 lbs, the BP40 was 1.66 lbs, and the PR40 was only 13.7 oz. Here again, there is no bad choice. I use the Eletrovoice RE320, and none of the other microphones moved me to lose this mic. In the end the difference between the three was minimal in my non "audio snob" ears. How Podcasting Helped My First TV Appearance I was interviewed on the Golden Opportunities show this week (it will air at 11:30 AM EST on Channel 3 in Cleveland on December 11). Here was the process: The goal was to explain podcasting to people over 55. I had a phone call with the show runner and we talked for 10 minutes. From that the show runner picked the parts that she liked, and explained the answers that I provided that fit their audience. I didn't have to memorize the answers (but I more or less did). The segment would be four questions. I practiced the night before, and I practiced the morning before. On the way up to Cleveland, I kept botching at least one answer. I wasn't blowing it, but it wasn't smooth. I came up with words that would trigger a response that would help me remember the answers. I had a feeling I might "mess up" a little bit. In the end I did slightly have a flub, but because of podcasting I caught it, clarified and continue. I didn't freak out. All those "Ask the Podcast Coach" live sessions on Saturday helped me keep my cool. Podcast Glossary "F" Feed A feed is a file that contains all the details of a podcast. The feed is often generated by your media host, or plugin, and is read by apps that then use that details to show the details on a screen (computer, phone, or tablet). FeedburnerFeed burner is tool from Google that can take an RSS feed and add additional items to the feed. You also get stats on how many people are subscribed. Feedburner is deemed by many experts to be out of date and a prime cause for many trouble tickets for podcasting hosting providers (it often stops updating your feed and has been shown to scramble the show description and the episode descriptions). While it was once recommended in 2006, most podcast consultants tell their customers to steer clear of this now outdated tool. FetHead Fethead is a microphone amplifier that delivers 22 DB of clean gain to your microphone. So if you are using a microphone that needs a “push” to be louder, then you might try plugging your microphone into the Fethead. FTP FTP stands for file transfer protocol. In a nutshell, there are two ways to upload files. Http stands for hypertext transfer protocol. Of those two ftp is faster. It requires a separate program to upload files. I heard your Microphone episode today and would like to add some comments and additional relevant data to the valuable information you already presented.Everything you said about dynamic versus condenser microphones is absolutely true. However, each time you apparently were trying to say the word “cardioid”, it sounded to me as if you were saying the word “cardio”. They are similar words and both are connected with the English word “heart”. With physical exercise, we talk about cardio (as in cardiovascular) and with microphones, we talk about cardioid. I must further clarify that cardioid (with microphones) is a type of a heart-shaped pickup pattern which is somewhat directional. Cardioid patterns exist with both condenser and dynamic microphones. In fact, each dynamic microphone you mentioned on the show today has a cardioid pattern, including the ATR2100 and the SM7B. The AT2005USB (which is the black version of the ATR2100, and I currently own a couple of AT2005USB) also has a cardioid pattern. The main microphone I currently use in my studio is a BP40 (also dynamic and from Audio-Technica, which I reviewed here) has a supercardioid pattern, which means that it rejects sounds from the sides even more than a typical cardioid pattern, but also means that the person speaking into it must be that more careful to be on-mic as opposed to off-mic. I like the sound of both the BP40 and the SM7B. Both the BP40 that I use and the SM7B that you use are black in color, which I happen to like. Hi Listeners! We are thrilled to have co-host Dave back in the studio! He has returned from China and is back in the studio to make us all happy. In the first segment, Ryan and Dave talk about music distribution options for artists and Ryan is thankful for his dear friend Josh's contribution of a brand new BP40 microphone from AudioTechnica. Thanks Josh, you are the best! In the second segment, CD Baby's Director of Marketing Kevin Breuner stops by. He gives great insight into major label life through his experience as a member of the Grammy nominated band Smalltown Poets. He also gives useful advice on how artists can promote themselves. Be sure to check out Kevin's DIY Musician Podcast. It is great! In the final segment, Ryan and Dave debut a new segment, "Dave's Metal Minute," hosted by Metal Dave. Metal Dave is the greatest (Yeeaaaaah!!!). After the Minute Minute, R & D play a very high-stakes game with the Grammys coming up next week. They randomly pick Grammy winners. Whoever picks the fewest winners has to write an ode to the other host that they read on the air. Follow @ryankair and Dave @dkaye1027. Podcasting News: Midroll Purchased by Scripps - Another shot of legitimacy for podcasting? Ask the Double Rainbow Guy The article mentions CPM (the amount you make per 1000 downloads) of $100. This seems unrealistic to what I typically hear ($15 - $30 CPM). Honda's 2016 Accord will have the ability to have Apple Car Play, and Android Auto. Full Story Podcast Rewind: I recently was asked back on the Coachzing Show talking why podcasting is here to stay. I did a webinar with Steve Stewart on Podcast Workflow for his Audacity Workshop its only available for a limited time I started listening to the Tim Ferriss show, and the one thing that he us just AWESOME at is follow up questions. When he interviewed Rick Rubin he asked how Rick got into the 99 Problems video by Jay Z. At the end of the answer Rick says, "He is one of my favorite people." To this Tim instantly asks, "Why do you say that?". Later when he interviews Glenn Beck he asks about Glenn's dilema of having to hire a large amount of people to build his Blaze network. Glen explains who he hired first. He said he knew within the first three minutes of their initial meeting that this woman was going to be hired. To this Tim instantly asked, "What did she say to make such an impression on you." It's an interesting show, and he has interviewed so many big names, that you can "cherry pick" episodes of just those people you like. Podcast Microphone Shoot Out Audio Technica 2020 (condensor XLR/USB $99) Audio Technica 2100 (Dynamic XLR/USB $59) Audio Technica BP40 (Dynamic XLR $349) Electrovoice RE320 (Dynamic XLR $299). You will hear that all these microphones sound great. I recommend podcasters NOT use a condensor microphone (2020). In listening to the 2005 vs the BP40. The 2100 seemed to carry more bass (odd as they have the same bass frequency). There is a low cut switch on the BP40 if you want to cut frequencies below 100 (these are so low, these are almost frequencies you feel more than hear). The one thing that hit me right out of the gate is this microphone can double as a weapon. Its super solid, looks good, and just seem heavy duty. I really liked the AT8484 shock mount that is designed to be used with the microphone. It has a super slick lock that allows you to slide it in and out with ease (not that most of us will be switching microphones, but it is cool). As the shock mount is designed for the unit, it holds it well. I have a "off the shelf" shock mount for the RE320 and it seems a little strained to hold it (so here again sticking with factory stuff, even though slightly more expensive might be the way to go). Test One: Gain How much gain is coming out of the microphone? All of the microphones seemed to need the same amount of gain. It seemed like the BP40 did provide a little more (and needed less gain). Test Two: Tone The ATR2100 (for me) had the most pleasing tone. Plenty of low and high end. The RE320 was the clearest, and the BP40 had a smooth sound (but didn't have the hi end of the RE20) What is my first impression? I love the look of the BP40. It's super rugged. It's super solid. I LOVE the shock mount that is an accessory as it is SUPER EASY to snap the microphone in and out. Test Three: How much room noise does it pick up? I put a fan on in the background and turned the radio on lightly. None of the microphones (accept the 2020) would pick up a noticeable amount of room noise. Can you hear it? Yes, but only if you are in a quiet room listening through headphones. Of the 2100, the bp40, and the RE320, it seemed the BP40 seemed to pick up the most room noise (but again, the amount of noise was something you would really have to strain to hear). For me, for the money and the flexibility I still like the Audio Technica 2100. Now, the ATR2100 is not as durable as the BP40 or the RE320. These are microphones designed to be in a broadcast booth. They (the BP40 and the RE320) definitely have different tones (the RE320 is more clear). Keep mind you want your voice to not be abrasive or distracting. So having too much high end, or too much low end can ruin your tone. The more I use the BP40, it's really growing on me especially when I run it through my DBX 286 microphone preamp. Bottom Line: I couldn't really pick one that was miles above the others. I liked all the microphones, and when run through a mixer where you can boost and cut the EQ I was able to pull out any tone I wanted. None of them had any major proximity effect issues. I like the look for the BP40 more then the RE320. As always tone is a very subjective, and in the end it depends on how the microphone works with your voice. Which one did you like? Audio-Technica makes two great entry-level microphones for starting podcasters: the ATR2100-USB and the AT2005USB. Now, they're entering the higher end range with the BP40 broadcast dynamic microphone.
