Is the pro-choice side really pro-choice? Do women who choose to have abortions truly choose to have abortions, or do they have choices systematically eliminated until there is no option remaining except to have an abortion? These are not simple questions to answer, but thankfully people are out there working to solve some of these complex issues. This week, Nikki joins me as we talk with Emily & Nathan Berning of Let Them Live (https://letthemlive.org), an organization dedicated to helping women and mothers have the choice to keep a child. Oh, yeah, the audio. Apparently I would have to pay VMix another $250 to have another Zoom user in the video, so my VMix software was not set up to facilitate this. So it turned out to be easier to just use Zoom. Check out our Youtube channel for the video version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0xnSjq3PJA

Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Be relevant, real, authentic, and don't put out poor quality content (Quality isn't King content is king. Don't copy a model. know who you are)4. Don't be haphazard (waste time or money)a. The more you get into upping your tech game the more you will see how time intensive it is. So don't waste time.b. Make every dollar count (don't waste money on cheap gear. If it is a necessary piece of gear spend the money (Cameras, lighting, computers, mics, cam-link, audio and video switchers. etc.)5. Get your innovation ready first and then launch6. Practice, Practice, Practice (don't “go live” without knowing your software inside and out.7. Research8. My process: What I do in my Tech Gamea. Podcast recording with an Auna USB Mic into Garage Band (Accusonus ERA 4 Plugin Bundle) I know podcasters who use Voice memos on a iPhone or other cell phone and a quiet room to record podcasts. So it doesn't have to be complicated.b. Blogs I write blogs on all topics faith, theology, and church ministry related all you need is a google account to start a blog at blogger, another platform is Word press. I just use my social media platforms and influence there to make articles known. leverage every tool you have at your disposal. In my opinion don't leverage your social media for cats! We use everything for the glory of God and the building of his kingdom. certainly you can post stuff about your family, fun stuff etc. But the more you post cat videos the less you will be taken seriously. make a good mixture of fun, and serious content that is beneficial for people, and the building, discipling, and encouragement of the kingdom.c. Vlog (Video Podcasts) record using what you have try, try and try again.d. Social media content (You can replicate all content across all platforms. If you post something somewhere post it everywhere so that you don't have to create new content for every different platform. If I post something on FB I usually post it on Twitter. This way you can save time and influence more people.e. Email Supporter newsletter: Use this to inform and encourage your support network. (Mailchimp is free) use it for a church newsletter. You can stylize it to look nice instead of just text.f. WhatsApp is also a tool that could be used for gatherings, video conference, small groups etcg. Zoom, Google meet, Skype, FaceTime, etc are all good platforms to have meetings, churches are doing zoom Gottesdienste, etc. People can chime in via zoom to a live church service. Where people are able to attend physically, but in these times not your whole congregation is allowed to attend for space sake and Abstand then you can add a zoom function to every church service and have groups who switch Sundays of physical attendance.-The content of the gospel must stay the eternal content of the gospel-The message cannot change to fit the packaging.-Technology or innovation is only a tool innovation is only working on that tool-Personal meetings Vs. Virtual meetings-Virtual meetings are only a substitute and can only be a substitute-Maybe your virtual presence should be a Low key entry point and should point people to the physical gathering-Tech Game of a Church is an extension of your church not your church itself

Gorilla TV managing director Rich Moss and Jigsaw24 sales director Rupert Watson join Broadcast Tech editor Jake Bickerton for a chat through the tech enabling post-production houses to transition overnight from office-based to cloud-based remote home working. The companies work together at the cutting edge of post-production, with Gorilla having a long history of innovating in new workflows to continually enhance its service to clients. This informative, educational discussion explains the practical benefits of products such as Avid Edit on Demand, Deja Edit, and vMix in enabling post houses to ensure business as usual and the same high-end service levels while their staff work from home. The podcast also looks more broadly at cloud-based working and how remote collaborative working will be further enhanced over the coming months as the industry beds in for an extended lockdown.

David Bain with Jason Barnard at Digital Elite Day 2019 David Bain talks with Jason Barnard (The Brand SERP Guy) about the 5 steps of podcasting. We kick off with a singing duet. David Bain then suggests that I am not so good at preliminaries. We then quickly get onto the five steps. Step 1 is prerecorded audio – make sure that is really good or you will hit problems later on. He gives some great tips on recording sound and getting the audio to sound great. I go off topic by jamming ‘All about the Bass', then we get sidetracked by iPhone theft and motorbikes falling on us before getting back on track (which is a very appropriate turn of phrase). Step 2 is live audio and David Bain gives practical tips about how to prepare, editing and what is annoying for listeners tuts, for example. Step 3 is using as-live video. He gives super tips and tricks, and we have fun describing what we are doing for people who are just listening to the audio and cannot see what we are doing. Step 4 is live video – by this time, you can really concentrate on getting the live-chatting part right since you will have mastered the audio and getting the video right. He talks about platforms he uses – Vmix, Google Hangouts, LinkedIn, Periscope, Facebook, Blab.im. Step 5 is a live event such as David's rather ambitious 120-guest 5-day live digital marketing marathon on Facebook. We end up agreeing with Mark Askwith that Digital Marketing is just marketing now. BIG thank you to Monte for being videographer.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW0eFySP82k

Navid Moazzez can be referred to as the grandfather of virtual summits even though he’s younger than most of us. He was one of the first ones out there teaching this format and is spreading the word on these powerful marketing tools. He has reengineered what others have been doing and packaged it into a system which has generated over 100,000 emails in the last 12 months alone, making over 7 figures. Listen to us mastermind on the show as we brainstorm on really cool ways to use virtual summits, and not just the usual ways you are likely used to hearing. Navid gives us a host of ideas on how to repurpose content and how to best create evergreen summits for long term revenue from just one event.  He also has an amazing list of tools and recommendations that he uses in his business, and will open up your mind to the possibilities, even if you are just starting out without a huge network. We kept our brainstorming session in this one, because the content is too good not to share! After you listen to this episode, be sure to check out our previous shows with Liam Austin and Amber Spears for even more insight on summits as well as getting affiliates on board.   “There’s a lot of gold out there for summits that haven’t been done well or done at all. I recap my experience at NAB last week, including our Mic Test Drive Booth and lots more including: BIG thanks to my booth brothers: Michael Helms, Josh Wade, and Landen Hardy! Our 10 mics, Mackie 1642VLZ4, MixPre-6 borrowed from Sound Devices, and a BP40 borrowed from Steve Savanyu at Audio-Technica. Sennheiser’s upcoming wireless clip on mic, and the Neumann U67 at their booth! My birthday gift - a Neewer mini microphone! Watch Bandrew Scott's video on this mic here. The Venue was HUGE - Las Vegas Convention Center. Booth traffic was OK. And I was interviewed twice - one audio and one video. I also mentioned my drive out there - TO Vegas via New Mexico and Arizona, FROM Vegas via Utah and Colorado. And it was great to hang out with: Rob Walch - Libsyn Todd Cochrane, Mike Dell, MacKenzie - Blubrry Jennifer Crawford and Vernon Ross - Podbean Rob Greenlee - Voxnest Eric Larsen - Tascam Sean and Ira - Samson Podfest guys - Chris Krimitsos, John Dennis Podcast Movement guys - Jared Easley, Dan Franks Allan Tepper Emma Victoria Austin Dillman - REV Angela Copeland Other stuff: Skype Has a Big Announcement for Content Creators: Skype was proud to announce the new Skype for Content Creators, which looks to be what podcasters have been asking for, for years. The new feature is available in preview form now (at NAB) and should be widely available in the summer for both Mac and Windows 10 users. Skype for Content Creators records calls directly through NDI-capable software like Wirecast, Xsplit, and Vmix. The feature provides "clean" copies of all call participants that you can quickly drop into audio and video production apps, so you can focus more on the content and publishing of your show, and less on double-checking everyone's recordings. I detail how I mixed an episode using the wrong Sonarworks profile, and then had to correct it. Because I had already done many edits, it wasn’t an option to go back to the mix and adjust the individual tracks. Lastly: Congrats to the current students enrolled in PES! Next semester starts June 26th and super-early-bird pricing still available. DID YOU KNOW........We exist for the purpose of helping you, so please comment below with any questions or remarks. Growth Hacking an Online Graphic Design Business – RUSS PERRY | DMR #219

Today I'm joined by a man who helps thousands of businesses improve their creativity through a flat-rate graphic design service. Welcome to DMR, Russ Perry. [you can find Russ over at RussPerry.co/DMR & DesignPickle.com.] On this episode of Digital Marketing Radio we discuss growth hacking an online graphic design business, with topics including: Why offer a graphic design service for a fixed monthly fee? Was there any other business model that you considered? How did you end up with this model? You grew the business from zero to over a million dollars in 16 months - what do you attribute that success to? How much of a part did growth hacking play? What does growth hacking mean to you? What aspects of growth hacking proved most successful? What precisely about what you did made it a success? Have you changed anything about your growth hacking strategies over the past year to make them even more successful? [Tweet ""Make sure you're charging enough!" @russperry @designpickle #EntrepreneurTips"] Software I couldn't live without What software do you currently use in your business that if someone took away from you, it would significantly impact your marketing success? Zapier [API integrator] SaneBox [Personal email management] What software don't you use, but you've heard good things about, and you've intended to try at some point in the near future? vMix [Live video streaming software] My number 1 takeaway What's the single most important step from our discussion that our listeners need to take away and implement in their businesses? Make sure you're charging enough. Make sure that whatever you're doing, you're making enough money to pay yourself as well as to reinvest that extra money into marketing and sales and growth. This is what I didn't do for eight-and-a-half years at my agency. I only made enough to pay mostly other people, not necessarily even me, and there was nothing left over. And we've done the opposite [at Design Pickle] as everyone gets paid a fair amount, the clients get to pay us a fair amount, and then we have money left over to grow our business which has been very powerful.

Today I'm joined by someone who creates educational content and digital products that help people develop and grow rewarding, profitable online businesses. He’s the VP of Marketing for Rainmaker Digital. Welcome to DMR, Jerod Morris. On this episode of Digital Marketing Radio we discuss how to engage and retain your audience, with topics including: If you produce outstanding content on a regular basis, is that not enough by itself to engage and retain an audience? What do you mean by engaging your audience - is it important to interact with your audience? What are some of the more effective ways to interact with your audience at the moment? What kind of content is particularly effective for you at the moment? How has your content changed over the past year and how are you intending for it to change over the coming year? What kind of mistakes are you seeing other business make with their content at the moment? What about retaining your audience - what are some of the ways that you’re doing that? Is it paramount to ask your audience to opt-in to an email list? [Tweet ""Do whatever you can to balance your pride and your humility." @JerodMorris from @RainmakerHQ"] Software I couldn't live without What software do you currently use in your business that if someone took away from you, it would significantly impact your marketing success? GarageBand [Audio editing for Mac] Auphonic [Automatic post production editing] Rainmaker Platform [Digital marketing & sales platform] What software don't you use, but you've heard good things about, and you've intended to try at some point in the near future? vMix [Live video editing and broadcasting] BeLive [Live interviews to Facebook] My number 1 takeaway What's the single most important step from our discussion that our listeners need to take away and implement in their businesses? Do whatever you can to balance your pride and your humility, which I think is the most important skill set you can have in building an audience. I think that you always have to have pride in your message, and enough pride in that you believe in what you're saying and that you're going to get it out there - even when you're a little bit afraid and when someone tells you that you're wrong or it's stupid. That pride in what you have to say is going to keep you moving forward. But at the same time, if that runs rampant, and all you're worried about is what you have to say in your message, you're forgetting about the humility you need in order to step into your audience's shoes and realise that your message is only as effective, only as valuable as the impact that it has on them.

Is Facebook the biggest social media advertising opportunity for most businesses at the moment? What type of advertising on Facebook tends to be most successful at the moment? What are the constituent parts of a successful Facebook Ad? How do you categorise your Facebook Advertising according to who you’re targeting? Once you’ve got your campaign up and running, what are some ways to optimize its performance? What about Twitter advertising - what are you finding to be most effective there at the moment? And what are your thoughts on the future of social media advertising? Be the unicorn in the sea of donkeys. There is just so much crap and garbage out there. The key to success is just being the remarkable company that isn't a donkey.

We talk about podcast tips, tools and best practices to help you succeed with your podcast! Just like you we podcast purely out of the love and the fun of it. Podcasting is our hobby and we love that it is yours too! We always encourage your questions and feedback and you can find all of our contact information at betterpodcasting.com.   Stephen and SP take this episode to run down how they are able to put together high level video productions on the hobby podcasts of Better Podcasting and GonnaGeek using multi sessions of Skype, overlays and the XSplit program. They break down the hardware required, some of the software options available, how they arrived at their solution that they are currently using, what are some of the ways to manage some of the pitfalls (i.e. digital drift and syncing both audio and video), and how to stitch it all together to get a great produced product while keeping it at a level that hopefully everyone can follow.   This week’s Better podcasting Download runs down the drop in NPR radio under 55 years old statistics and what it might mean for podcasting. SP also runs down why podcasting is better to listen to for him versus the radio. https://medium.com/@HennsEggs/why-i-left-npr-51320c67538#.o0jgwireq   In this week’s PodBack SP and Stephen run down some lengthy YouTube feedback from Brain Hurley on options for webhosting for your website, and some specifications to watch out for as you are choosing your webhosting company.  Stephen recommends checking out WebHostingTalk while you are on your way to decide where you want to place your webhost, and SP strongly recommends grabbing your podcast domain and at least point it somewhere as you start your podcast journey. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/   Please remember that we're running our give away contest of a new Audio-Technica ATR2100-USB microphone.
