The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In 01/13/24. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. This weekly broadcast examines current events from across the globe to learn what's happening in all areas of people activity. We cultivate Counter-Racist Media Literacy by scrutinizing journalists' word choices and using logic to deconstruct what is reported as "news." We'll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth, neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS 94-year-old Victim of White Supremacy Josephine Wright died this week in South Carolina. She became known to many around the world for her efforts to maintain possession of her black family's Hilton Head Island property, even though thirsty, White developers have been greedily working to devour her acres. In Ohio, Brittany Watts was informed that a grand jury declined to criminally charge her for desecration of a corpse after she suffered a miscarriage. Reproductive rights scholar Dorothy Roberts was in Seattle, Washington this week to discuss how this case specifically illustrates the System of White Supremacy's designed attacks on black mothers and children. Speaking of the black babies, 11-year-old Ahmir Jolliff was buried this week in Perry, Iowa after being shot to death by a 17-year-old White boy. We also say the Deobra Reddin. This is the black male who was transmogrified into a social media caricature of black male savagery. Reddin violently assaulted a White female Las Vegas judge who denied him probation and ordered him to greater confinement. Reddin faced the same judge days later with his legs, arms, and torso shackled, a spit-guard smothering his face, contraptions incapacitating both arms, and burly, armed bailiffs eyeballing him hard. Reddin's leap and chained sentencing live online for our eternal entertainment and black male mockery. #KatWilliamsScaredOfWhitePeopleToo #TheCOWS15Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

This week we're feeling inspired by the organizing work that women have done in the past, and ready to keep fighting for ourselves and the future. Our hosts shared their heartache over what's happening to Brittany Watts in Ohio - a young Black woman who suffered a miscarriage at home and is now charged with a felony. These laws are terrifying and seek to turn an already tragic situation into a nightmare. The Dobbs decision criminalized abortion and now they're trying to criminalize miscarriage! It's vital that we keep talking about this and we're glad that ABC News highlighted 18 women's personal stories in a recent feature. Then we're joined by Ellen Cassedy, the author of “Working 9 to 5: A Women's Movement, a Labor Union, and the Iconic Movie.” Ellen shares her inspiring experiences organizing office workers and co-founding the 9 to 5 movement back in the 1970s. She discusses some of the ridiculous things that women were asked to do by their bosses and how they fought back. And she also shares the lessons she learned (listen, be flexible, be creative, and lean into diversity) that can help us continue to fight for our rights today. Finally, Rachel and Jasmine raise a glass to young people and their parents receiving news about college admissions and to winning an award in this episode's “Toast to Joy.”This is our last episode of 2023 and we're so glad you've joined us on The Suburban Women Problem this year. We're taking a week off for Christmas and we'll see you again in 2024!Here at Red Wine & Blue, we're taking this opportunity to celebrate everyday heroes - from our pod hosts to our amazing guests to you! We wouldn't have so many victories to celebrate from this year's election if it wasn't for your support. And now, we're making it easier than ever for you to be a superhero for our sisterhood. In September, Brittany Watts had a miscarriage at her home in Ohio. Prosecutors are now charging her with “abuse of a corpse,” a felony that could result in up to a year in prison.  When does a miscarriage become a felony? And could the anti-abortion movement be using this case as a step towards achieving “fetal personhood”? Today's Headlines: The United States vetoed a UN security resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, with the US deputy ambassador, Robert Wood, justifying the vote as the resolution being "imbalanced." Wood criticized the council for not condemning Hamas's October 7th attack, stating that halting military action would allow Hamas to continue ruling Gaza and set the stage for the next war. The UK abstained, and the resolution had support from nearly 100 co-sponsoring countries in less than 24 hours. In other news, a Texas district judge allowed a woman with a fatal fetal abnormality to undergo an abortion, marking the first case seeking a medical exception to the state's strict abortion ban. Attorney General Ken Paxton, however, plans to sue the performing doctor and advised hospitals to disregard the court's ruling. Other stories include a woman in Ohio facing felony charges for alleged abuse of a corpse after a miscarriage, FDA approval of treatments for Sickle Cell Disease, positive signs for a vaccine against triple-negative breast cancer, resignations at UPenn amid congressional testimony backlash, and President Biden's announcement of $8.2 billion for major passenger rail projects, including a high-speed rail line between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
