Donald Trump's Department of Justice sent a memo to prosecutors in various jurisdictions last week, giving them explicit instructions on what phony charges to use to prosecute left wing political groups and donors. Later that same week, Trump held an Oval Office press briefing where he discussed prosecuting people like George Soros, and Pam Bondi and Kash Patel were right beside him completely unable to explain how, why or who they were going after. Farron discussed this illegal partisan witch hunt. Donald Trump has nominated a man by the name of Jeremy Carl to serve in a high-ranking position at the US State Department, which has led Carl to delete more than 5,000 old social media posts. The posts that are now gone had praised political violence from the Right - including the Capitol Rioters - while also calling for the trial and eventual sentencing to death of American Federation of Teachers leader Randi Weingarten. This man is likely going to be confirmed by Trump's Republican puppets in the Senate, and even though he deleted them, he can't hide from his disgusting past.Hundreds of government workers that were fired by DOGE have been given their jobs back due to the fact that DOGE doesn't understand how the government works and that employees are pretty necessary. At the same time that this is happening, the Trump administration is planning EVEN MORE government firings, using a potential government shutdown as an excuse to cut more people. This administration is so dysfunctional that they are currently engaged in two completely contradictory plans. The latest polling data shows that Donald Trump is now underwater with every single age group and demographic in the country. But to make things even worse for him, the young voters who helped him in the election now say that they regret their votes because he turned out to be a "reckless dictator." Trump's insanity and lawlessness could swing a whole generation back to the Left, assuming Democrats are able to capitalize on their disillusionment. There are now enough members in the House who want the Epstein files released to the public to make that a reality - thanks to Democratic victories in several special elections this month. Donald Trump is terrified of these files, and he's now begging the Republicans who signed onto the discharge petition to switch sides again and save him. He might be successful, too, as those Republicans are Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Nancy Mace - three very pro-Trump lawmakers. But there's also a Plan B in place, in the event the Republicans chicken out.Text and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media! What are the legal implications of the unprecedented mass pardoning of the January 6th rioters? What does it say about American rule of law? President Biden's DOJ prosecuted nearly 1,600 of the January 6, 2021, rioters—many for acts of shocking violence against police and government offices. On January 20, newly sworn-in President Trump, in one of his first official acts, issued a sweeping grant of clemency to all of the rioters charged in connection with the attack on the Capitol attack. He pardoned most defendants and commuted the sentences of 14 members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers militia, most of whom had been convicted of seditious conspiracy. The response from some of these violent rioters since the pardons has been alarming.“The people who did this, they need to feel the heat. We need to find and put them behind bars for what they did,” said Enrique Tarrio, the former national Proud Boys leader, sentenced to a 22-year sentence on seditious conspiracy charges, on Alex Jones' podcast soon after his pardon. Our guests today are Stanford Law Professor Shirin Sinnar and former DOJ prosecutor Brendan Ballou.Sinnar's scholarship, including a recent study of hate groups, focuses on the legal treatment of political violence, the procedural dimensions of civil rights litigation, and the role of institutions in protecting individual rights and democratic values in the national security contextBallou was a lawyer at the Department of Justice for five years. He resigned on January 23 soon after President Trump's pardons. In a New York Times opinion essay, he wrote: “For while some convicted rioters seem genuinely remorseful, and others appear simply ready to put politics behind them, many others are emboldened by the termination of what they see as unjust prosecutions. Freed by the president, they have never been more dangerous.” He graduated from Stanford Law in 2016.Links:Shirin Sinnar >>> Stanford Law pageNew York Times piece by Brendan Ballou >>> I Prosecuted the Capitol Rioters. Multiple Capitol Rioters that received pardons from Donald Trump last week have been either re-arrested, are currently "at large" and will be soon arrested, or, in the case of one man, killed by police. These are clearly repeat offenders that have learned nothing from the consequences of their actions, and they should not have been allowed to go free.On Monday, Donald Trump suggested that we could start deporting actual US citizens - people born and raised in this country, regardless of race or cultural background - as a form of punishment for "heinous" crimes. Trump said that we could send them to other countries to be held in prisons (for a small fee) and then we'll "see how they like it." This is getting very insane very quickly.Donald Trump is still ripping off his followers with his worthless "meme coin" cryptocurrency that is completely useless, and now he's getting called out for grifting these people out of their life savings and retirements. Professor Scott Galloway used a recent episode of his podcast to call out the president, along with his wife Melania Trump, for scamming people so brazenly when they know these people have nothing left to give. The Trump White House issued a memo on Monday of this week that boasted about all of his so-called "accomplishments" that he achieved in the first week of his second term. The list is filled with falsehoods and outright lies, most notably the claim that he did more in his first week than most presidents do in 4 years. This is how the next four years are going to go - no REAL accomplishments to speak of, just bragging about things that don't matter to anyone.Text and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farronâs content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media! It's been four years since Donald Trump's supporters stormed the US Capitol, trying to overturn the result of the 2020 election. Now, his win in last year's election is about to be ratified in that very building, giving him the power to pardon convicted rioters. Will Donald Trump deliver on his promise?Today, Elie Honig, a former US federal and state prosecutor and senior legal analyst for CNN on how the incoming president will use his executive powers, and what it could mean for the US justice system. Tommy Pigott is the RNC Strategic Communications Director. Trump vows to end birthright citizenship and pardon US Capitol rioters.
During an interview with Meet The Press this past weekend, Donald Trump said that he is working on a plan to pardon the Capitol Rioters on day 1 of his new administration, and then suggested that the January 6th Committee needs to be in jail. He is going to release criminals while at the same time threatening to lock up law-abiding citizens. This is the country that we will be living in for the next 4 years.Lara Trump has resigned from her position as the "co-chair" of the RNC, and the general consensus is that she's preparing to become the next Senator from the state of Florida. With Marco Rubio heading to Trump's cabinet, the senate seat that he currently holds will remain open until Republican Governor Ron DeSantis appoints the replacement, and all eyes are on Lara Trump for that seat. A viral photograph of First Lady Dr. Jill Biden smiling at Donald Trump is being used by the convicted felon to push his latest grift - a cologne called "Fight, Fight, Fight." The caption that Trump used with the photo on social media says "A fragrance your enemies can't resist," which may be clever, but the joke is being used as cover for the fact that Trump is STILL ripping off his most loyal supporters. During his interview on Meet The Press on Sunday, Donald Trump made it clear that his administration is planning on deporting LEGAL US citizens because he says he wants to "deport families together." This is a direct attack on birthright citizenship, which Trump also says he wants to do away with in spite of it being enshrined into our Constitution. This is just the first step in his administration's plans to get rid of other legal citizens.Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FarronBalancedTwitter: https://twitter.com/farronbalancedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/farronbalancedTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@farronbalanced?lang=enText and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!

AP correspondent Ed Donahue reports another Capitol rioter gets a lengthy prison sentence.
This week on Ring of Fire! Donald Trump's lawyers were finally forced to admit in a court filing on Monday that he does not have the cash available to pay the $464 million bond for the fraud judgement against him in order to appeal the verdict. The lawyers are asking for the judge to simply postpone the posting of the bond until after the appeal, but that's not how things work. Due to the fact that he was rejected by at least 30 underwriters, it is apparent that Trump is a risk for paying at all. During a recent speech, Donald Trump referred to the imprisoned Capitol Rioters "hostages," echoing a claim that he's made before and one that has been made by lawmakers like Marjorie Taylor Greene for years. Trump also admitted that he'll pardon these people, and these two statements were the breaking point for Trump's former Vice President Mike Pence. In an interview on Fox News, Pence not only trashed Trump for calling these people "hostages," but said that he will not be endorsing Trump. During a podcast interview this week, Trump lawyer Alina Habba said that she is confident that she will get the $464 million fraud verdict against Donald Trump dismissed upon appeal. Ironically, this interview was conducted BEFORE Trump's lawyers had to tell the court that he's not able to pay the bond, which means that the appeal might not even be able to happen. There's a good chance that Trump could see his properties be taken away from him, all while the arrogant Habba swears everything will be ok. And Judge Aileen Cannon delivered an absolutely insane ruling on Monday evening as part of her jury instructions to both federal prosecutors and Trump's legal team. The ruling says that members of the jury have to be given access to the highly sensitive classified documents that were uncovered at Mar-a-Lago - and if Jack Smith doesn't allow that, then they jury will be instructed to assume that they were all personal documents that rightfully belonged to Donald Trump. All that, and much more, on this week's Ring of Fire Podcast!
During a speech in Nashville late last week, Donald Trump heaped praise upon the Capitol Rioters by saying that he admired their "spirit." This is the kind of statement that could easily blow up his chances of being left on the ballot as he faces 14th Amendment challenges from multiple states. If we had a fair Supreme Court, this statement alone would mean "game over" for Trump being on the ballot. Also, Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has long been rumored to be on Trump's shortlist for possible running mates. But that isn't exactly what Greene has in mind. Greene told reporters this week - and, by extension, Donald Trump - that she would be more than happy with a position in his cabinet, and she knows exactly what position she wants. And if Trump becomes president, you can bet that she'll get it.And as part of a new series of focus group interviews that CNN is conducting, they spoke to Republican voters about who they are supporting this year. One Republican voter revealed that even though she is a staunch conservative, there's a very steadfast reason why she'll never vote for Donald Trump. The voter says that she wouldn't trust him around her kids and that he is a bad role model, and that, for her, is a dealbreaker. This is actually something that needs to be highlighted more by the Democrats. Finally, Donald Trump might be cruising to an easy victory in the Republican primary, but that doesn't mean that he's got the same power that he used to have. According to new reports - and photographs - Trump is struggling to fill auditoriums for his "pity party" rallies, and at his most recent event in Nashville, organizers had to remove hundreds of empty chairs so Trump wasn't looking at empty seats.Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FarronBalanced/Twitter: https://twitter.com/farronbalancedInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/farronbalancedTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@farronbalanced?lang=en
Allen Weisselberg, the CFO of the Trump Organization, is in hot water after Judge Arthur Engoron said this week that he has reason to believe that Weisselberg lied under oath in his courtroom during Trump's fraud trial. If Engoron sticks with that conclusion, he says he will toss Weisselberg's entire testimony, which would mean an even harsher penalty for Trump, as the CFO had downplayed everyone's knowledge of what happened at the company. Also, RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel is leaving her position as the head of the Republican Party after nonstop failures and nearly bankrupting the Republican Party. McDaniel has been a disaster since day 1 as the leader of the GOP, and now she's leaving a mess that the next Chair likely won't be able to overcome (due to the fact that the top candidate is an election denier who is in Trump's pocket.)And Marjorie Taylor Greene stomped out of a hearing in Congress this week after a Democratic lawmaker pointed out that she was overly friendly with the Capitol Rioters. The hearing was about crime in Washington, D.C., and Democratic Representative Robert Garcia made a point to say that Greene talks a big game about crime, but then she turned around and high-fived and hugged the Capitol Rioters when she visited them in jail. Finally, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell held a truly bizarre - and clearly low budget - press conference to announce that he's now selling even more useless products to the masses like paintings and socks. Lindell appeared to be a little frantic and shaky during the announcement, and the people standing around him looked confused and bored. But Lindell is desperate to get some money flowing in as he struggles to pay his bills. This week on Ring of Fire! Donald Trump apparently woke up more unhinged than usual on Saturday morning, and he immediately got on Truth Social to let the world know that he is not doing well at all. But it was a post that he didn't write that made everyone scratch their heads. Trump re-posted a message from a conservative lawyer that suggested that President Obama should be indicted for murder (because a court recently ruled against Trump saying that presidents don't have immunity for life.) We can probably expect this to be the new rallying cry for conservatives. Donald Trump's niece, Mary Trump, has accused Marjorie Taylor Greene of trying to bribe Donald Trump into making her his VP choice next year. Specifically, Mary says that a recent social media post by Greene was an attempt to show Donald that she will do whatever he wants her to do if she is chosen for the vice presidential slot on the ticket, and she did so by promising to protect, and likely pardon, the convicted Capitol Rioters. Donald Trump's mental screwups are becoming so common and noticeable that even some of his former allies can't ignore them. During a recent segment, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly admitted that Trump isn't as "sharp" as he used to be, pointing out his constant blunders and inability to keep a train of thought on track. The Biden administration is also trying to capitalize on Trump's mental hiccups, painting him as the one who is out of touch and not stable enough to serve in office. Republicans in the House are moving their impeachment inquiry into President Biden forward this week, with a vote expected that would make the inquiry "official," allowing members to get their hands on more "evidence." The only problem is that they've been investigating Biden for 12 months and have been told repeatedly that there is no link between Biden and any criminal activity. To make things worse, Republicans are now telling the press that they expect this move to backfire on them, but they are still going forward anyway. And Rudy Giuliani's defamation lawsuit trial got off to a horrific start for him, as the judge demanded to know why he kept smearing the two election workers even after he had been found liable in a summary judgement for defamation. His lawyer did his best to excuse these actions, but the argument fell flat. The lawyer tried to claim that Giuliani's advanced age is to blame for his comments, and the judge didn't buy that for a second. All that, and much more, on this week's Ring of Fire!
This week on Ring of Fire! Donald Trump is back to pretending that he cares about the Capitol Rioters, and he shared a post from another user on his Truth Social platform that called for the arrests of police officers that violently engaged with his supporters during the riot. The post contained a video clip of officers using batons to strike the people storming the Capitol and made mention of Ashli Babbit being killed by a police officer. There's a very specific reason why Trump is going down this path right at this moment, and we'll explain why that is. During a House hearing late last week, Marjorie Taylor Greene got called out by Democratic Representative Maxine Waters for taking out a PPP Loan and having it forgiven by the federal government. Waters was using that as an example of the hypocrisy of Republicans who talk nonstop about cutting programs for the poor while taking money for themselves. Greene was livid, and she took to Twitter to blast Waters using the dumbest possible arguments you could have dreamed up. Donald Trump suffered two devastating legal blows on Friday evening, when Judge Tanya Chutkan dismissed BOTH of his motions to dismiss the charges against him for trying to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump's lawyers had offered weak arguments claiming that the case violated Trump's Constitutional rights, and Chutkan wasted no time letting his legal team know that arguments like this aren't going to make it far. House Oversight Committee chair James Comer accidentally admitted that evidence doesn't matter in the impeachment inquiry of President Biden during a recent appearance on Fox News. Comer said that moderate Republicans in the House are now warming up to the idea of impeachment because they all, apparently, met voters at places like Walmart over the Thanksgiving break, and all of those voters apparently said that impeaching Biden is the most important thing in the world. All that, and much more, on this week's Ring of Fire!
House Speaker Mike Johnson says that when the footage of the deadly January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol is released to the public, the faces of the rioters will be blurred to protect them from being charged by the Justice Department. Former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney was the vice chair of the House Select Committee that investigated the insurrection. She joins AC360 to discuss Speaker Johnson's decision. She also talks about the current state of the GOP and says this group of Republicans "can't be counted on to defend the Constitution." Donald Trump's lawyers believe that they have uncovered a grand conspiracy, and they filed a motion in court on Monday alleging that Mike Pence is only cooperating with the January 6th investigation to save himself - and to take down Trump. The lawyers say that Pence worked with Jack Smith in order to prevent any charges against him in his own document "scandal," a claim that is beyond absurd. Also, Marjorie Taylor Greene has finally admitted that she was scared for her life on January 6th because of the actions of the Capitol Rioters. But she wasn't afraid of anything real - she told Donald Trump, Jr. that she was scared of all of the "Antifa" rioters that were there, even though that is just a figment of her imagination. Her claims fly in the face of both reality and the court cases that have brought these rioters to justice. And indicted former Trump lawyer John Eastman is not happy about how expensive it is to fight an indictment, and he whined during a recent interview about spending close to $3 million on his legal fees so far. He went as far as to say that he's hoping he doesn't end up draining his wife's retirement fund - a clear move to gain sympathy from right wing audiences. But that's what happens to lawyers that get involved with Donald Trump. Finally, Donald Trump's legal team wanted to issue subpoenas for a treasure trove of "missing documents" that they claim were not turned over to them at the start of discovery. The only problem with their request, according to Judge Tanya Chutkan, is that the "missing documents" don't even exist. She went on to say in her ruling that Trump and his legal team don't even dispute the fact that they received all the documents, making their request that much more confusing.
Donald Trump is still livid that polls show people think he's too old and mentally unfit to be president, so he's doubling down on trying to convince the country that Biden is "incompetent." In a post on Truth Social, the former President called for Republicans to use the 25th Amendment to remove Biden for being unfit, which only shows that Trump has no idea what the 25th Amendment actually says, because Republicans have absolutely no authority to do that. And Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene got into a fight on Twitter on Tuesday, with each trying to claim credit for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy launching an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. But seeing as how there is no favorable outcome for Republicans on this issue - and the fact that enough Republican members of Congress oppose the idea to make sure it won't even pass, the two are really fighting over which one is dumber, with both wanting that title. Also, on Monday, Donald Trump's lawyers filed a motion to force Judge Tanya Chutkan to recuse herself from the Trump trial due to the fact that she referenced "other people" who spurred on the Capitol Rioters in a court ruling a long time ago. Chutkan wasted no time firing back at Trump's legal team, granting them a hearing, but reminding them that they didn't follow the rules with their latest filing and next time she won't be so nice to them. And finally, on social media this week, Marjorie Taylor Greene renewed her calls for a "national divorce" that she started earlier this year by suggesting that states consider leaving the Union over Biden's immigration policies. This is not an idle suggestion - this is the very thing that started the Civil War and resulted in numerous laws to prevent traitors from holding public office in this country ever again (to avoid this exact type of behavior!)

Former President Donald Trump was speaking at a recent Save America rally on January 29th, 2022 in Conroe, Texas when he suggested if he ran for President again and won, he would pardon all of the January 6th rioters who have been prosecuted. According to a article from a contributor of The Hill media outlet, the Justice Department already has filed charges against seven hundred and plus people who took part in the January 6th insurrection. So realistically it is not possible for Trump to pardon all of the rioters from the Insurrection. There are many implications behind what Trump said at his latest attack on Justice Department and the last Presidential election. One implication is he realizes what he is saying and still will say anything to get power back in his hands metaphorically. Tune in to receive analysis regarding the latest Trump story/headline. Federal investigators are examining records of communications between members of Congress and the pro-Trump mob that attacked the US Capitol, as the investigation moves closer to exploring whether lawmakers wittingly or unwittingly helped the insurrectionists, according to a US official briefed on the matter. The data gathered so far includes indications of contact with lawmakers in the days around January 6, as well as communications between alleged rioters discussing their associations with members of Congress, the official said. The existence of such communications doesn't necessarily indicate wrongdoing by lawmakers and investigators aren't yet targeting members of Congress in the investigation, the official noted. Should investigators find probable cause that lawmakers or their staffs possibly aided the insurrectionists, they could seek warrants to obtain the content of the communications. There's no indication they've taken such a step at this point. To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy

Justice Department prosecutors have formally walked back their assertion in a court filing that said Capitol rioters sought to "capture and assassinate elected officials." A federal prosecutor in Arizona asked a magistrate judge in a hearing on Friday to strike the line in a recent court filing about defendant Jacob Anthony Chansley, a man who is alleged to have led some in the crowd in the first wave into the Capitol with a bullhorn while carrying a spear and wearing a fur headdress. The entire line the prosecutors want to omit from their court filing is: "Strong evidence, including Chansley's own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States Government." The stunning move comes a few hours after the Michael Sherwin, the acting US attorney in Washington, DC, said at a press conference there was "no direct evidence of kill and capture teams" at this time in the siege of the Capitol building. To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy
Federal prosecutors offered the most chilling description yet of rioters who seized the Capitol last week, writing in a new court filing that the intention was "to capture and assassinate elected officials." The view was included in a memo seeking to keep Jacob Anthony Chansley, who rallied people inside the Capitol using a bullhorn, in detention. According to Capitol Police information included in the filing, Chansley was notable for his headdress, face paint and carrying of a six-foot spear. To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy
