Century Lithium CEO Bill Willoughby joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce that the company has begun relocating its Lithium Extraction Facility Demonstration Plant to its Tonopah Airport facility in Nevada. This strategic move is designed to consolidate operations, improve logistical efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen technical support for current and future projects. Willoughby explained that the relocation will streamline operations for the development of Angel Island, Century Lithium's flagship lithium claystone project. The company's end-to-end extraction process begins by treating Angel Island claystone under optimized conditions with hydrochloric acid, followed by neutralization using sodium hydroxide—both sustainably produced on-site through saltwater electrolysis. The resulting lithium chloride solution is processed via direct lithium extraction (DLE) and refined into high-purity, battery-grade lithium carbonate for electric vehicle and energy storage applications. By moving the Demonstration Plant, Century Lithium will also gain expanded space for R&D initiatives, including the development of lithium metal and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery materials. The new location will enable the construction of a larger assay and metallurgical laboratory, enhancing the company's testing and analytical capabilities to support Angel Island's long-term growth. Century Lithium's 20-acre site at Tonopah Airport has long served as a field office for Angel Island, previously used to prepare and process bulk material during the company's three-year pilot plant program at Amargosa Valley. Looking ahead, the Tonopah facility will serve as a hub for research and development, project support, and administrative operations, reinforcing Century Lithium's commitment to advancing a sustainable, U.S.-based lithium supply chain. #proactiveinvestors #centurylithiumcorp #tsxv #lce #otcqx #cydvf #mining #oricaspecialtymining
Argentina Lithium CEO Nikolaos Cacos joined Steve Darling from Proactive to unveil the company's first-ever Mineral Resource estimate for its Rincon West lithium brine project located in Salta Province, Argentina—a key step forward in advancing the company's lithium portfolio within the heart of the “Lithium Triangle.” The inaugural resource estimate, completed for the West Block properties—including the Villanoveño II and Rinconcita II mining concessions covering 2,931 hectares—marks a significant milestone for Argentina Lithium. The estimate excludes the Paso de Sico concessions to the north, which add another 3,742.9 hectares of prospective ground at the Rincon Salar, representing future upside for the project. The resource was defined through 14 exploration boreholes totaling 4,823.2 metres of diamond drilling and one production well extending 470 metres. Based on this work, the company reports: Measured and Indicated Resources: 0.15 km³ of brine averaging 296 mg/L lithium, equivalent to 238,000 tonnes of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE). Inferred Resources: 0.08 km³ of brine averaging 216 mg/L lithium, equivalent to 64,000 tonnes of LCE. Cacos emphasized that the results demonstrate Rincon West's potential as a scalable, high-quality lithium asset within one of the world's most prolific brine districts. “This maiden resource lays a solid foundation for our next phase of development as we work toward building a sustainable, high-value lithium operation capable of generating long-term returns,” he said. As the company moves ahead with Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) studies and evaluates advanced direct lithium extraction (DLE) technologies, exploration teams will also target deeper drilling below the current resource boundary—where geologic data indicates open mineralization at depth and significant room for expansion. With a strong technical foundation and growing land position, Argentina Lithium is positioning Rincon West as a key contributor to Argentina's emerging lithium supply chain, supporting the accelerating global demand for electric vehicle and energy storage materials. #proactiveinvestors #argentinalithium&energycorp #tsxv #lit #otcqx #lilif #proactiveinvestors #argentinalithium&energycorp #tsxv #lit #otcqx #lilif

Henk van Alphen was born and raised in Holland. After serving in the army, he sought adventure and travelled to Canada where he and his girlfriend took a float plane into the wilderness, built a cabin, hunted and fished, and lived off the land for a year. It took them seven days to walk back into civilization. Henk then went to college in Canada and began to work part time for a mining operation. His wilderness experience was a perfect match for the needs of mining developers who relied on "grubstakers" to trek into the wild, searching for mineral deposits to develop mines.Henk's career in mining began in Canada, and then led him to extensive works in Argentina, Chile, and other South American countries. He was agnostic about what minerals he sought to develop... working with coal, iron ore, gold, silver, copper, zinc, uranium, and ultimately lithium. He discusses the process of developing mine sites... noting his style and business model of working collaboratively with indigenous populations, making them part of the process which ultimately led to longer term successes. The conversation then shifts to lithium mining. Henk discusses where lithium is found - in brine, clay, and pegmatites - and how it is mined. His work involved extracting lithium from brine in "salars" or drying lakes. This was not well received because in arid countries, solar evaporation of the brine wastes precious water... so he and his colleagues have focused on DLE or Direct Lithium Extraction.Ted and Henk discuss the value of lithium, a mineral at the core of the clean energy revolution. Henk is articulate about the role of lithium in electric vehicles, and in laptops and cellphones. He notes China's preeminence in this field. While other battery chemistries are being examined, Henk notes that advances in lithium batteries are extending EV's range, making EVs clear winners in the automotive future. And he posits that lithium will be with us for some time even if other chemistries are promising and may ultimately replace lithium. That will be, he jokes, when he is six feet under!

International Battery Metals CEO Joseph Mills joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the company's proprietary direct lithium extraction technology, its strategic vision, and why he believes the company is uniquely positioned for success in a rapidly evolving lithium market. Mills, who brings over 45 years of experience in the global energy sector, recently joined IBAT after recognizing the company's potential to revolutionize lithium production. “I saw a real opportunity with IBAT. I think our technology is superior. It's also very cost-effective,” he noted. Though IBAT is currently pre-revenue, Mills expressed strong confidence in its readiness to scale and its alignment with long-term market demand. Founded in 2018 and publicly traded on the TSX Venture Exchange, International Battery Metals has focused on developing a proprietary DLE system created by renowned chemist and founder Dr. John Burba. Unlike conventional brine evaporation or chemically intensive methods, IBAT's system uses an adsorption-based process that requires no chemical reagents, offering high lithium recovery rates of up to 98–99%. In addition, the system is engineered to recycle 94–95% of the water used, significantly reducing environmental impact and aligning with global sustainability standards. One of the standout features of IBAT's technology is its scalable, modular, and mobile design. Mills emphasized the importance of deployment speed and adaptability, explaining that IBAT's lithium extraction systems can be deployed in as little as 4 to 6 weeks in some locations. This agility opens doors for partnerships with lithium producers around the world looking to accelerate timelines and reduce costs. Looking to the near future, IBAT plans to deploy its demonstration plant, which will serve as a critical validation point for potential customers and investors. Mills believes that as lithium prices begin to recover to historical averages, the demand for efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible extraction technologies will surge—and IBAT is prepared to meet that demand. #proactiveinvestors #internationalbatterymetalsltd #tsxv #ibat #DirectLithiumExtraction #JosephMills #CleanEnergy #EnergyTransition #BatteryMetals #LithiumExtraction #ModularTechnology #SustainableMining #EVBatteries #ResourceEfficiency
Interview with Kevin Smith, Non-Executive Director of Iris Metals Ltd.Recording date: 15th May 2025Iris Metals (ASX:IR1) presents a distinctive investment proposition in the lithium sector, focusing on speed-to-market in the United States through brownfield restart projects in South Dakota. Unlike many peers that require years of development and massive capital expenditure, Iris is advancing a permitted portfolio of hard rock spodumene assets with potential production by the end of 2026."This isn't your traditional dynamic of what you think of in a Western Australian style spodumene project where we're going to go drill for three or four years, build a huge resource, then raise a billion dollars off an FID and go build it," explains Kevin Smith, Non-Executive Director of Iris Metals. "We have a quick path to production by leveraging the operations that are already there."The company's strategic advantages begin with location. In a US market that currently imports 100% of its lithium requirements, Iris controls previously producing mines that operated during the Cold War era. These assets are already licensed and permitted, potentially eliminating years of regulatory hurdles that typically delay new mining projects.Iris employs a "hub and spoke" model centered around three primary project areas: Beecher (which already has a resource statement), Tin Mountain, and Edison. All three sites are currently being drilled, with updated resource estimates expected by fall 2025 to support a final investment decision. The US political landscape creates additional tailwinds. Recent tariffs on lithium imports, even from traditional allies like Canada, provide market protection for domestic producers. Combined with production tax credits, these policies create a protected ecosystem for US lithium development. From a technological standpoint, Iris avoids the risks associated with novel extraction methods by focusing on conventional hard rock mining – a proven approach widely used in established lithium producing regions. "We don't have to prove up a process flowsheet like the DLE guys," notes Smith. "We're going to use technology that's tried and proven in Western Australia and other places."The company claims several advantages that could contribute to a competitive cost structure, including very low strip ratios (potentially as low as 1:1), existing infrastructure, and proximity to workforce and services. These factors lead Iris to believe it can operate in "the bottom quartile of the cost curve" globally.Beyond mining, Iris has demonstrated the ability to produce battery-grade lithium compounds domestically through partnership with Indiana-based Reelement. Initial trials have reportedly produced 99.5% pure lithium carbonate – potentially enabling a complete US supply chain without sending material overseas for processing. For investors, upcoming catalysts include results from ongoing drill programs, trial mining activities to verify cost parameters, detailed engineering studies, and a potential OTC listing to improve accessibility for North American investors. The timeline to potential production appears relatively short compared to many lithium development peers, potentially offering a faster path to cash flow in a strategic jurisdiction.View Iris Metals' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/iris-metals-limitedSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

In this episode, we chat with Gordon Stein, CFO of CleanTech Lithium, whose mission is to be a leading supplier of clean battery-grade lithium for the global energy transition by advancing direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology, supplying green lithium to the EV and battery manufacturing market. Gordon has over 30 years of expertise in energy, natural resources, and other sectors in both executive and non-executive director roles. A chartered accountant who has worked with start-ups to major companies, including board roles of six LSE companies. He discusses the history of the company, the DLE process and technology behind CleanTech and financing options for technology companies and the Lithium market in general. KEY TAKEAWAYS Cleantech Lithium is advancing DLE technology, which allows for the extraction of lithium from brine sources in a more efficient and environmentally friendly manner compared to traditional methods like evaporation ponds. This process can extract lithium in just two days, achieving a recovery rate of 99.7%. The demand for lithium is projected to increase by 20% to 30% annually, driven by the electric vehicle (EV) market and battery storage needs. This growing demand highlights the importance of developing cleaner and more efficient lithium extraction methods. Successful financing for DLE projects requires a strong operational strategy, including demonstrating a viable resource, conducting independent economic studies, and securing government support. Establishing partnerships with car manufacturers and battery producers is also crucial for securing funding. The capital markets have become more receptive to DLE technology as successful projects emerge, such as those in Argentina and Germany. Investors are increasingly recognising the economic viability of DLE projects, even in a low lithium price environment. BEST MOMENTS "They set up Cleantech with a view of finding assets in Chile where they felt it was a good mining jurisdiction." "Direct lithium extraction... you can clearly see in every analyst it's going to be a dearth of supply over the course of time." A proč odbory hrozí stávkou? Hostem Ptám se já byl předseda Českomoravské konfederace odborových svazů (ČMKOS) Josef Středula. Odbory tento týden pohrozily generální stávkou. Vadí jim návrh poslanců vládní ODS a TOP 09 na výpověď bez udání důvodu, kterou chtějí doplnit do připravované flexibilní novely zákoníku práce. A pomůže chystaná flexi novela opravdu rozhýbat tuzemský pracovní trh? --Podcast Ptám se já. Alex Wylie, President and CEO of Volt Lithium (TSX.V:VLT - OTCQB: VLTLF) joins me to the recent announcement, on December 10th, of the Company expanding field testing of it's proprietary direct lithium extraction technology (“DLE”), backed by a grant from the state of North Dakota. The conversation begins with a review of the field study agreement, supported by a $450,000 grant from North Dakota. Alex elaborates on the strategic importance of entering multiple oil fields to enhance the Company's DLE technology. Alex assures us that this expansion won't slow down the Company's field testing progress in Texas. The discussion then shifts to the partnership with Wellspring Hydro, a local North Dakota company. Financial aspects are also covered, including the recent $6.6 million raised to scale up operations in the Permian Basin. We wrap up by discussing the broader market for DLE technology, the competition landscape, and Volt Lithium's strategic advantage in the DLE space. If you have any follow up questions for Alex please email me at Fleck@kereport.com. Click here to visit the Volt Lithium website to learn more about the Company's DLE technology.
Interview with Chris Doornbos, President & CEO of E3 Lithium Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/e3-lithium-tsxvetl-pioneering-lithium-development-in-the-heart-of-canadas-energy-industry-5064Recording date: 2nd December 2024E3 Lithium represents a compelling opportunity in the North American critical minerals sector, developing what could become one of the region's largest lithium production facilities in Alberta, Canada. The company's Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) project aims to begin production by 2027-2028, leveraging existing oil and gas infrastructure and strong government support. The company's resource base of 16 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) - five times larger than all other Canadian lithium resources combined - provides significant scale potential. E3 has adopted a phased development approach, initially targeting 10,000-12,000 tonnes annual production instead of the originally planned 32,000 tonnes, demonstrating prudent capital management and risk mitigation.Financial positioning is robust, with $23 million in cash and $37 million in federal and provincial grants secured. Importantly, the project qualifies for Canada's 30% Investment Tax Credit on capital expenditure, substantially reducing the financing burden. Operating costs are projected at $6,200 per tonne against current market prices of $10,000-12,000/tonne, suggesting healthy margins even in the current softer price environment. The company's DLE technology, under development since 2017, benefits from Alberta's established regulatory framework for resource extraction. Rather than facing traditional mining permits, the project falls under oil and gas regulations, potentially streamlining the development timeline.Strategic partnership potential is significant, with E3 actively engaging automotive, battery, oil and gas, and mining companies for project-level investment. Recent sector moves by major players like Rio Tinto's acquisition of Arcadium and General Motos (GM)'s investment in Thacker Pass validate growing institutional confidence in the lithium sector.Key investment considerations include:Scale Advantage: Largest measured and indicated lithium resource in Canada, supporting multiple potential projects.Strong Financial Position: Funding secured plus 30% Investment Tax Credit eligibility.Strategic Location: Established energy province with existing infrastructure.Technical De-risking: DLE technology validated since 2017 with demonstration plant pending.Market Position: Early mover potential in North American supply with multiple strategic partnership opportunities. The macro environment strongly supports domestic lithium development, driven by supply chain security concerns and growing Western emphasis on reducing dependency on Chinese processing capacity (currently 70-80% of battery-grade lithium). Government policy and funding support reflect lithium's critical mineral status.E3's approach of repurposing existing oil and gas infrastructure for critical mineral production could provide a template for future North American resource development. While market conditions remain challenging, the company's robust fundamentals and strategic positioning suggest potential for significant value creation as North American lithium supply chains develop.Management's focus on securing strategic partnerships at the project level rather than corporate equity investment demonstrates a commitment to minimizing dilution while maximizing long-term value potential. The phased development approach and strong government support provide multiple paths to value realization.View E3 Lithium's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/e3-lithiumSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

„Osobně jsem byl velmi zklamaný, že Zuzana Čaputová ve funkci nepokračuje. U jejího příkladu si ale můžeme uvědomit, že jsou na světě daleko důležitější věci, než je politika, moc a potřeba řídit lidi. Dle mého by mělo být v politice daleko více lidí, kteří jsou schopni moc opustit a pociťovat zodpovědnost za svoje rozhodnutí a činy. Adionics, a French company specializing in advanced ionic solutions, has developed a breakthrough technology for lithium extraction known as Flionex. This solvent extraction process is distinguished by its high selectivity, extracting lithium without removing other elements such as boron, potassium, or magnesium. This results in extremely pure lithium chloride, making the process both efficient and environmentally friendly due to its low water consumption. Adionics has demonstrated the industrial readiness of their technology through successful pilot projects in the lithium triangle, particularly at high altitudes, showcasing its scalability and robustness in real-world conditions.Originally focused on desalination, Adionics strategically pivoted to lithium extraction in 2017, anticipating the rising demand for lithium driven by the green energy sector. This shift has allowed the company to position itself as a leader in the lithium extraction market. Adionics targets brines with lithium concentrations ranging from 200 to 50,000 ppm and continually refines its process to address lower concentrations more efficiently. The company offers two primary business models: providing technology and process support to mining companies or forming joint ventures to finance and manage lithium extraction projects. This flexibility allows Adionics to adapt to various market needs and ensure the successful implementation of their technology.Looking ahead, Adionics plans to expand its commercial presence and invest in research to develop more efficient Flyonics molecules for different concentration ranges. They are also exploring applications in lithium battery recycling and hard rock lithium extraction, aiming to extend their innovative approach to new markets.
