Lifting the lid off the shocking abuse in Britain's fee paying Public Schools (Part 2) With Sean Hawie The Black Spy Podcast, Season 14, Episode 0006 In this week's Black Spy Podcast Carlton continues the discussion regarding the much hidden topic of sexual, physical and psychological abuse in Britain's top flight super expensive historical fee paying Public Boarding schools - which, ironically are in no way state provided or sponsored schools. Again this week Carlton's four person panel - including Firgas Esack, Dr. Rachel Taylor special guest Sean Hawie and of course Carlton continue to delve deeply into the issue. As mentioned last week its worth noting that with the exception of Carlton, all three other panelist went to fee paying school's with Firgas and Sean attending the traditional historically prestigious fee paying private boarding schools - known as Public Schools in Britain. Dr. Rachel Taylor, attended a less historically prestigious fee paying day attendance private school, as opposed to a Public School. Listener's should note that Britain's Public Schools were established during Britain's early Imperial era for the sons of those who would rule the countries that made up the British Empire, which at it's high in the 1920's, consisted of over a third of the world's population and a third of the globe's land mass. As the imperial saying went, ‘The sun never set on the British Empire'! The make up of the panel could well foreshadow this discussion as, still today, those that attend such private schools (particularly the very expensive public schools) end up as Prime Ministers, other senior politicians, Judges, top flight Civil Servants, Clergymen and business patricians. So, even though only 1% of Britain's youth attend such private schools, their alumni hold many primary roles in Britain's society, albeit not generally in the entrepreneurial technically orientated cutting edge knowledge based industrial arena. The other, negative and often unmentioned aspect of such schools, (particularly Public Schools) is the bullying, sexual, physical and psychological abuse that is perpetuated in such schools by teachers (masters/Lay staff) and students alike. Once again Carlton asks the questions that you want to know, but where the established mass media will not tread. Again this week the Black Spy Podcast provides its listeners with an enlightened, entertaining and interesting podcast. In 1682, the first Assembly of Pennsylvania and the Delaware counties met in Chester, Pennsylvania, and adopted “the Great Law,” a humanitarian code that guaranteed the people of Pennsylvania liberty of conscience. “The Great Law” created an environment that not only welcomed William Penn's fellow Quakers to Pennsylvania but also created space for the migration of other unestablished religions, such as the Lutherans, Schwenkfelders, and Moravians. Paul Peucker, an archivist and the Director of the Moravian Archives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, joins us to investigate the establishment of the Moravian Church in North America. Paul is the author of many articles, essays, and books about the Moravians and their history, including Herrnhut: The Formation of a Moravian Community, 1722-1732. This week, we're taking a closer look at the impressionistic and (later) avant garde filmmaking of Germaine Dulac – particularly that which occupied her activities during the 1920s. For her, this was about “integral filmmaking” (as she called it): the rhythmic collision (and superimposition) of dissonant images and ideas. Clergymen, ballet dancers, fountains, machines. If it all sounds ‘so far, so Leger', then think again. What she was doing was quite different – and unarguably distinct. Basically, you need to resolve your Dulac lack. Films covered include: The Seashell and the Clergyman, DISQUE957, Themes and Variations, The Smile of Madame Beudet and Arabesques.
At this point in our series on the Life of Joseph, we find Joseph wrongfully imprisoned. Pastor Kevin, found it fitting that we arrived at this point in Joseph's story in time for MLK Jr. Day. Dr. King also found himself imprisoned a variety of times. On one particular occasion, King wrote a powerful letter to the Clergymen of Alabama, who did not approve of his methods. Today, we honored King's memory by listening to an audio recording of Letter from a Birmingham Jail. His message to the clergymen in 1963 still contains important and convicting messages to the Church today.

The Bizarre Journey of Pension Plans: They got their start as an ambitious plan to support the penniless Scottish widows. Now, retirement assets are the largest pool of money in the world—by far—and have pronounced structural differences depending on which country a pensioner calls home. How did this happen? And how can pension plans stay solvent as the global population ages?

Clergymen need not be virtuous to give the sacraments
Matthew Adebayo: "I am new to social media and will use it for liberation, impart knowledge and let people know the truth and their right in Christ... Clergymen should harness the social media for good and not as a tool for exploitation or manipulation of humanity."
Sabbaticals are extended periods of paid leave, often granted to University Professors, Clergymen, etc. And whilst most of us probably won't have the luxury of getting paid for this extended leave, the broad concept of 'taking a sabbatical' might be a smart thing to do right now. The world is on pause right now. So your colleagues and peers will won't be able to leapfrog you in the career queue. And it'll be really easy to explain that gap in your CV a few years from now. So...IF you can sustain yourself financially for a year or so, why not take your sabbatical now? #sabbatical #leave #timeout
"once a clergyman, always a clergyman" [SOLI] We see influences of religion here and there in the Sherlock Holmes stories. From Biblical references in "The Crooked Man" to the then-mysterious religion of Mormonism, we see the world of Holmes and Watson as it occasionally intersects with these influences. It sounds like a James Bond movie: Catholic priests as spies who collaborated with the secret police. Clergymen who met in secret with officers of the socialist regime to report about other church members. High representatives of the church who willingly violated their own moral standards. Another scandal in recent church history, that has been kept secret for too long? Let’s turn to Dr. Orit Gazit, who is interviewing Dr. Gregor Buss, a Catholic theologian and ethicist.

In Colonial America, clergymen stood as thought leaders in their local communities. They stood at the head of their congregations and many community members looked to them for knowledge and insight about the world around them. So what happened to these trusted, educated men during the American Revolution? How did they choose their political allegiances? And what work did they undertake to aid or hinder the revolutionary cause? Spencer McBride, an editor at the Joseph Smith Papers documentary editing project, joins us to explore some of the ways politics and religion intersected during the American Revolution with details from his book, Pulpit and Nation: Clergymen and the Politics of Revolutionary America. A senior Vatican cardinal has admitted that the Roman Catholic Church erred in attempting to cover up cases of sexual abuse by clergymen in the 1970s. This was heard during the testimony of Vatican finance chief, Cardinal George Pell this week via a video link from Rome to Australia's royal commission on institutional responses to child sexual abuse. Cardinal Pell added he did not know whether paedophile priest Gerald Ridsdale's offenses were common knowledge in the parish of Inglewood. We spoke to journalist with the Guardian's beaurau in Melbourne Australia, Melissa Davey, Professor, Jennifer Slater, a professor of theological ethics at the University of South Africa and Grizelda Gootboom who is a survivor of sexual abuse in the church....
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/presidential-academy/Session+29+Morel.mp3 Focus In Brown v. Board of Education (1954), the Supreme Court briefly traces the history of public schools in America. How does this help the Court argue against racially segregated schools? What role do legal precedents play in the Court's argument against "separate but equal" schools? What is meant by "intangible considerations" and how does this help the Court establish that the mere act of separating school children by race produces an unequal education? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Court's opinion in Brown? If segregated schools did not produce "a feeling of inferiority" on the part of black children, would these schools be unconstitutional according to Brown? Why does King reject force as a response to oppression? What is the major concern of the white clergymen who counsel King to stay away from Birmingham? What are the four stages of civil disobedience? How does King's nonviolent resistance against a particular law actually support obedience to the government and laws? Why does King blame white moderates more than fringe elements like the Ku Klux Klan for lack of progress in securing civil rights for black Americans? Readings Brown v. Board of Education : Brown v.
