Welcome to the Health Marketing Collective, where strong leadership meets marketing excellence. This is the first episode in our Be Bold miniseries and we are thrilled to host Dan Reilly, a renowned market research strategist and advisor, to discuss the evolving landscape of market research, especially in the context of mental health and anxiety—issues significantly amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. Dan emphasizes the importance of a meticulous approach to market research that goes beyond traditional quantitative and qualitative methods. He also projects that while AI will continue to grow in utility, it will not dominate market research soon. Instead, experiential marketing will become increasingly significant. The discussion highlights how understanding the audiences' emotional and contextual experiences is paramount, and why marketers must ask the critical question: "What's it gonna take for you to buy my product?" This episode is packed with insights on how to effectively engage with specialized clinician audiences and the crucial balance between research time, speed, and quality. We dive deep into examples that show the practical implications of nuanced market research—from understanding parents' challenges with celiac disease to addressing vaccine mistrust among African American men. Each example underscores how strategic, empathetic research can lead to transformative insights and actions. Thank you for being part of the Health Marketing Collective, where strong leadership meets marketing excellence. The future of healthcare depends on it. Key Takeaways: Holistic Market Research Approaches: Dan Reilly stresses the need for intricate market research beyond just quantitative and qualitative methods. He highlights the importance of exploring and validating findings to gain a comprehensive understanding. Experiential Marketing Over AI: As much as AI is pivotal, Dan predicts that it's experiential marketing that will take precedence in the near-term future. Marketers need to create immersive and meaningful experiences for their audiences. Understanding Emotional Context: A significant portion of the discussion is devoted to appreciating the emotional and contextual layers of consumer experiences. Whether it's how patients feel during an MRI or parents' challenges with celiac disease, understanding these dimensions can lead to valuable, actionable insights. Targeted Outreach and Education: Combining insights on vaccine mistrust among African American men with targeted outreach by sports organizations resulted in a 10% increase in vaccinations. Dan underscores the importance of effective communication and relational trust-building. Choosing the Right Research Design: Sara Payne emphasizes that the desired insights drive the choice of research design. Whether dealing with complex emotive issues or seeking high-level quantitative data for board decisions, selecting the appropriate methodology is crucial for yielding relevant insights. This episode of the Health Marketing Collective provided invaluable perspectives on modern market research in the healthcare industry, reinforcing the need to remain adaptable, empathetic, and strategic in a rapidly changing world. The countdown to McHappy Day is officially on with McHappy Time fundraising launching across McDonald's restaurants in Broome! McHappy Day is the largest annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which helps seriously ill and injured children and their families stay together while receiving medical care in a nearby hospital. From now until McHappy Day on Saturday 18 November, Broome locals can pick up a pair of exclusive Grimace or Hamburglar themed Silly Socks or Helping Hands from their local Macca's, with 100% of profits going directly to RMHC. Tania Mesch, Licensee for McDonald's Broome said: “Every year, we are blown away by the generosity of our customers who dig deep for McHappy Day and help us raise much needed funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities. “Over the next few weeks, we are asking Broome locals to top up their Macca's order with a pair of Silly Socks or Helping Hands, if they are in a position to do so. “The funds raised will go directly towards helping Ronald McDonald House Charities continue to make a real difference to the lives of seriously ill or injured children and their families across Australia”. McHappy Time – the month-long celebration leading up to McHappy Day – which commences today, will shine brighter than ever in 2023 thanks to a group of familiar Aussie faces who are coming together to help raise much needed awareness and funding for the cause. Over the month, ARIA award-winning singer-songwriter Amy Shark, The Block's Dan Reilly, Australian Tennis royalty Dylan Alcott, NRL Legend Gorden Tallis, Sydney Swans' great Josh Kennedy with Isaac Heeney, Montana Ham and Chloe Molloy, and Parramatta Eels' Elsie Albert, Abbi Church, Rachel Pearson and Junior Paolo will pop up on TV screens around the country as part of the official advertising campaign to remind Aussies to ‘give back with a Big Mac'! Joining previous alumni ambassadors Naomi Watts, Katie Holmes, Eva Longoria and Eva Mendes, Amy Shark said: “I am incredibly honoured to be a part of this year's awesome line up of Aussie greats, partnering with Macca's to make a real difference, by raising awareness of McHappy Day and supporting the truly invaluable work of Ronald McDonald House Charities. “During life's toughest challenges, RMHC stands as a beacon of hope and support for seriously ill and injured children and their families. With open arms, they provide a nurturing haven where families can find comfort, solace and a community that understands. Their compassion and generosity are reflective of our Australian spirit, which is why I'm so passionate about helping RMHC ensure that families will never have to face these trials alone, allowing them to focus on what truly matters – being together and finding strength in unity.” Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia CEO, Barbara Ryan expressed her enthusiasm for this year's fundraiser: “McHappy Day is a celebration that captures the spirit of giving, and this year's group of Aussie stars truly embody the essence of generosity. I'm so excited to witness the positive impact they will bring to the lives of children and families in need. “For more than three decades, McHappy Day has raised over $61 million to help keep Australian families of seriously ill and injured children together in their time of need. We're calling for everyone's support again this year to enable us to continue to help where and when it's needed most,” said Barbara. McDonald's launched McHappy Day in Australia in 1991 to help raise essential funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities. There are now 18 Ronald McDonald Houses nationally, with the charity caring for almost 35,000 families every year. In addition to providing a home away from home, Ronald McDonald House Charities also runs Family Rooms, Family Retreats, Hospitality Carts and a National Learning Program to support families through and after their child's challenging hospital journey and ongoing recovery.

Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. Ireland seems to have joined the ranks of nations putting out some interesting and in some cases impressive horror films. Some of the higher profile flicks include Wake Wood, Grabbers, The Canal, and The Hallow to just name a few. But before all of them, back in 2005, a small film titled Isolation appeared that quickly drew a cult following simply for the fact of its premise alone. A cattle farmer in rural Ireland, Dan Reilly, slowly watches his business fall upon hard times. Soon, however, with the help of Orla, the local veterinarian, he is paired up with John, a bio-geneticist, who offers a way back into the "black" and therefore his livelihood. John is working on ways to improve the turnaround of farm-to-table beef and hopefully revolutionize both farming and genetics. However, any progress seems to be all too slow for Dan, and soon things unexpected with John's experiments could lead to disaster. Directed and written by Dan O'Brien, who's since gone on to science-horror and slashers, Isolation seems to pay tribute to such films as Alien, The Thing, Saturn 3, among others. Dark and grimy, and with a tone of desperation throughout, the movie pulls no punches with its shock. Dark Discussions reviews this film that co-host Abe suggested was worthy of a critique.
