When was the last time you walked into a room and thought to yourself, this place is full of peace? Did you take note of what contributed to this experience? The furniture? The decor? The openness? All of these elements fall under the fourth tenet of Hygge: Atmosphere. This can make us wonder: how can we, as Christians, create an atmosphere that is worthy of Kingdom hospitality? In this episode of Holy Hygge, Jamie Erickson sits down with author, blogger, and interior stylist Sarah Symonds to chat all things atmosphere, and how we can create a home that reflects the inner life of those who know the presence of God.  About Sarah: Sarah is the author of Designing a Life: From House to Haven. Yes - we know the audio quality on this episode is quite awful. This episode was recorded when we hadn't quite nailed down our new recording situation, but the content was too good not to share! In this episode, I'm chatting with Interior stylist, Lauren Egan, who is a specialist in colour and furniture selection. She consults with her clients to create the perfect finish, from paint selection and fabrics to key furniture pieces to really make their spaces pop.  Sometimes all it takes is a little more thoughtfulness and play with different textures to really make a room feel alive.  We talk about how colour can make such a difference in your home and how a subtle change can transform a room from stark to cosy. Lauren shares some of the rules she goes by to help make bold colour decisions that really work and some of her tips for choosing the right mix of furniture, textures and colour to make a space feel balanced and inviting.  We think building is FUN but sometimes at the end of a build or renovation project, you're so exhausted that you don't have the bandwidth to think about colour theory or furniture selection. This is where someone who has the experience and knowledge like Lauren comes into play.  LINKS: Lauren's Website: https://laurenegandesign.com/ Lauren's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heylaurenegan/ Buy our new book: BuildHer, A practical guide to building and renovating BuildHer Website: https://buildhercollective.com.au/ BuildHer Instagram: @buildhercollective BuildHer Facebook: Women who Design, Decorate, Renovate & Build Register for a call: https://go.oncehub.com/BuildHer See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
