When an island off the coast of Ireland is invaded by bloodsucking aliens, the heroes discover that getting drunk is the only way to survive.
The Yankees are alive thanks to some actual offense and a couple of Yankee fans in the crowd that ripped the ball out of Mookie Betts' glove. Gerrit Cole is on the mound and this is why he's here and this is why he's paid what he's paid. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of John Sterling calling the Anthony Volpe grand slam. Aaron Rodgers is drinking water with cayenne pepper and calls it the ‘fountain of youth'. Jeff Ulbrich met the media and thinks the Jets are close to figuring this out. Moment of The Day: A bunch of insults and a perfectly timed Eddie drop right on Boomer's head. In the final segment of the show, BT said he was done with Volpe because he wasn't going to get a big hit and then Volpe went out and hit a grand slam. Gio said he needs to say the same thing about Aaron Judge on today's show. This is the last Yankees home game of the season, so enjoy it. Hopefully ‘the Goomba Grabber' is back in his seat again tonight.
The Yankees won a game last night and the ‘Goomba Grabbers' out in right field ripped a ball right from Mookie Betts' glove in foul territory. Anthony Volpe was the hero with a grand slam in the third that made it 5-2 Yankees.

It's time for one of those huge episodes. Well, it's a three parter anyways. 2012 was for me, a little bit of a slacker for horror movies, some would say that not enough time has elapsed to make this assessment, I say, shnozwaddle! The highs are really high & the lows can be quite messy. But, what do I think was the very greatest horror movie that came out during 2012? Well, here we have the top 10. The worst 10. A slew of also rans. Some awesome mates. Some special guests. Several pints of beer and a 5 hours of running time split over 3 episodes. In this week's episode, we finally break down and let my cousin and yours (but mostly mine) Joe come on the podcast as a guest. We're discussing his pick, the 1954 "Godzilla." If you've not seen it yet, watch the subtitled Japanese language version and not the English dubbed version. Special topics for your consideration include: a real emotional roller coaster of a film, the problems with having two boyfriends, each of us choosing the saddest scene in the movie, and a heated debate about the creature design. We love creature films! Well, some of them we hated. Find out which by listening to Episode 24- "Grabbers," Episode 135- "Creature from the Black Lagoon," Episode 148- "The Wolf Man," Episode 167- "The Ritual," Episode 184- "Tremors," Episode 219- "Attack of the Crab Monsters," or Episode 375- "Rawhead Rex." This month, host Kyle Olson takes listeners on a chilling journey through the British Isles with a trio of alien invasion films. Joined by panelists Tommy Metz III, Kynan Dias, and Pete Wright, the group explores the 2012 Irish horror-comedy "Grabbers," along with "Attack the Block" and "The World's End."The discussion begins with "Grabbers," a lesser-known gem that surprised the panel with its impressive creature effects and charming drunk-acting from its lead actress. The hosts delve into the film's unique premise: a small Irish town must get intoxicated to survive an alien attack. As the conversation unfolds, the panel examines what makes these films distinctly British, from their focus on tight-knit communities to their reluctance to call in outside help. They note the underlying theme of existential hopelessness that permeates British comedy and how it manifests in these alien invasion narratives. The hosts also touch on the cultural significance of pubs in British and Irish society, and how these films use them as central locations for both community gathering and monster-fighting.With a blend of humor and insight, this episode of Sitting in the Dark offers listeners a deep dive into the world of British alien invasion films, proving that sometimes the best defense against otherworldly threats is a pint and a close-knit community.Film SundriesWatch the movies discussed:Grabbers: Apple • Amazon • JustWatchAttack the Block: Apple • Amazon • JustWatchThe World's End: Apple • Amazon • JustWatch (00:00) - Welcome to Sitting in the Dark (05:54) - Grabbers (16:43) - But what makes it British? We're going to recognize St. Patrick's Day with some Irish cinema, not watching some shit movie like Leprechaun 2 or something. Irish/English Dictionary Poitín - Moonshine. Stovetop distillery. Don't worry about it. It's just for the cows. Craic - Merry-making, revelry Garda(i) - Police Officer(s) Some projectile from space crashes into the ocean off the coast of Ireland. The local Gardai decide they have to deal with this one themselves, to prevent widespread panic. So they team up with a drunk fisherman to fight off the menace. Luckily, alcohol is poisonous to these creatures, so they can be defeated by the craic. Ciceáil Éire asal eachtrannach. Grabbers Final Grades: Both guys consider this to be a perfectly good movie. The acting, effects, set design, etc. were all well done. Nothing hokey or corny about this one. Much more of a legitimately done movie than what we've been watching recently. Pretty standard, inoffensive horr-medy. Steve ~3 of 5 Brandon's ~4 of 5, because he likes movies made outside the US more than Steve does. Another year ending means another Wrap Up episode where we go over our top picks for the year, as well as discussing some other titles we've seen in 2023. While most of the films we do cover here as our favorite viewings for this year are from the last few years, they are not all from 2023. But as we've pointed out many times before, if you're watching it for the first time, no matter when it was released, as far as we're concerned, it still counts as a new movie to you! 2023 has been a great year for the horror genre, especially when you look outside the U.S., which we all hope everyone out there does, because there are some incredible titles coming from Spain, Malaysia, Argentina, Japan, and more. So hopefully our listeners are not restrainted by films that are "only in English", because those folks are sadly missing out on some incredible cinema. For this episode, we strongly suggest you have a notepad and pen close by to jot down some titles because we think we're going to give you more than a few that we feel you should be checking out. And a special HUGE thanks to those that continue to tune in and listen to us ramble on about the genre we love. With this being our 60th episode, it seems our following is growing day by day, so thank you for your continued support and in 2024, we'll continue to help you Discover the Horror! Now coming to light are some of the most outrageous overreaches which should wake people up. The Biden administration not only is pushing to defund one of the fastest growing High-School sports, shooting sports. They are trying to defund Archery and Hunters Education. What exactly is a "large capacity" magazine? Depends on who you're asking. In California it's 10 rounds, while in Colorado it's 20. And in Massachusetts, a coalition of gun grabbers are demanding Congress enact a new ban on so-called assault weapons and all ammunition magazines that can hold more than five rounds; a move that would gut the Second Amendment's protections for arms that are in common use.
Part of our mission here at Tactical Tangents is to overcome the “tactical fantasy”, and in this episode, Mike and Jim talk about avoiding one of the most pernicious ones. It's easy in a world full of tacticool training classes to get focused on the sort of threats to ourselves and loved ones that jump out of the bushes and can be thwarted with kinetic skills when the truth is you probably already know the person you're most likely to have to pepper spray. The statistical fact of the matter is that most victimization comes from people who look like us and are already in our social circles. That's extra true about sex crimes, and super extra true about sex crimes against children. Tune in as we discuss teaching ourselves, loved ones, and especially our kids about understanding social norms, establishing boundaries, and the importance of informing someone in authority. To kick off the day, Charlie dives into the breaking story of the Supreme Court striking down the unlawful New York gun legislation, which would have required citizens to show “proper cause” to conceal carry. Charlie is joined by Kelly Shackelford, President and CEO of First Liberty Institute, to discuss the long term effects of this 6-3 SCOTUS ruling, as well as other significant cases that are going on right now. Charlie walks through the dramatic shift that has happened in the Supreme Court over the last ten years, the key players that made it happen, and what to expect in the next ten years.
