Hayden Christensen has been playing Anakin Skywalker for more than twenty years, and he just said that Dave Filoni understands the character better than he does. Speaking to IMDb at D23, Hayden was asked whether he gives the writers feedback on Anakin. His answer was that he doesn't need to. He said Filoni understands this character in some ways even better than he does, and that when he reads the scripts he's just elated with what he gets to do and say. He added that Filoni is still very collaborative, that he'll share an idea if he has one, and if it works they'll do it, so nobody is too precious about things and they get to explore. That comes right as Ahsoka Season 2 is on the way. The first trailer showed Hayden playing both the Force ghost version of Anakin and the Clone Wars era Jedi, which means he's getting to work through parts of the character in both worlds...no pun intended. The Avengers: Doomsday trailer has fans convinced there are two Doctor Dooms in this movie, and that one of them might not be Robert Downey Jr. at all. It's been a little while since the gang has discussed an animated Star Wars movie or series here on the couch, but Marcus promptly rectifies that mistake post-Gundam gauntlet with Dave Filoni's newest project, Maul – Shadow Lord. The show continues Maul's journey post-Clone Wars and perhaps bridges a few story gaps up to Maul's appearance in Star Wars Rebels, with a couple of hype lightsaber fights and absolutely gorgeous animated art and backdrops to support, and overall we're very pleased if a little unimpressed with the narrative that hearkens back to many stories already told in the Star Wars universe. Has the gang finally soured on Star Wars hallway scenes and gratuitous Sith aura farming? Will ANY Star Wars content ever be as good as Andor? Give us a listen and find out. 1999. 1999. Episode I: The Phantom Menace, it was a tale well well WELL documented in fandom circles LOL LOL LOL hahahahahahahahahahah obviously, then IT HAPPENED -- a REALLY cool sick looking villain was shockingly CUT IN HALF and fell down a trash space shoot. Many were taken aback, NOT only cause WE collectively watch THE PHANTOM MENACE, but what a WASTE of a villain and the potential this DARTH MAUL brought the the Sabacc table. And then came 2008, the DAWN of the CLONE WARS animated series, a show THAT as it went along was slowly but surely "mending" the Perquel films, most notably the space between Episode II & Episode III, but WE did NOT see THIS one coming (HA neither did Dave Filoni to be PERFECTLY honest), a mandate to bring DARTH MAUL back to life, hence fourth CLONE WARS would be dubbed (at least here at Fandom Awakens Radio HQ) the MAUL apology TOUR LOL LOL LOL hahahahahahahahah Darth Maul officially returned in Star Wars: The Clone Wars at the end of Season 4, in the episode titled "Brothers" (Season 4, Episode 21). In this episode, it was revealed he survived his bisection by Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace and has been living in exile on the junk world of Lotho Minor. His arc continued directly into the Season 4 finale, "Revenge" (Season 4, Episode 22), where his brother, Savage Opress, helps restore his sanity and cybernetic legs so they can hunt down Kenobi. Granted EVERYTIME Maul was brought up in the CLONE WARS, everything felt like a STOP on the MAUL apology TOUR, as the show clearly continued to add layer upon layer to the PT mythology, THAT was clearly to BIG too EXPANSIVE for three films THAT of course brings us to THIS. Allegedly, Star Wars has lost 85% of its fan base, but that's only when comparing The Force Awakens box office to The Mandalorian and Grogu. Clever article title but to be fair, that's just not accurate. While Disney Star Wars has definitely alienated its core audience over the years, I don't think it's a fair comparison being made here. I do think, however, that more fans are being pushed away with bad stories by the day, than what Lucasfilm will admit to, at least under Kathleen Kennedy. Hopefully, Dave Filoni has a plan going forwards which we will discuss in the next video.
