[School of Everything Else 2025] All the way back in 2017 I put together an absolutely EPIC musical journey through the first eight years of the MCU, from Iron Man all the way up to Doctor Strange. So much time has passed since then (cue many gifs of Matt Damon drinking from the wrong Grail) and Marvel has not followed my sound advice about allowing each hero (and maybe a villain or two) to retain a theme that reprises with every subsequent appearance. However, that does not mean there haven't been some truly excellent scores composed, which got side-lined in the clickbaity rush to pronounce Marvel as being formulaic, failing or indeed signifying the baleful death of film. Here for you now is a compendium of themes and sonic explorations as Phase 3 draws to its epic conclusion and Phases 4 and 5 wend their way from the small screen to the big and back again. I look forward to a third volume of these shows sometime in the early 2030s, when the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Secret Wars and whatever happens with Spider-Man and whatever inevitable soft reboot brings us to a new era of superhero cinema. 1.     The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (‘Louisiana Hero' by Henry Jackman) 2.     Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (‘Dad' by Tyler Bates) 3.     Spider-Man Homecoming (Michael Giacchino) 4.     Thor: Ragnarok (‘Main Title' by Mark Mothersbourough) 5.     Black Panther (‘Wakanda', ‘Warrior Falls' and ‘Killmonger' by Ludwig Goransson) 6.     Infinity War (Alan Silvestri) 7.     Captain Marvel (‘Main Theme' and ‘All Fired Up' by Pinar Toprak) 8.     Black Widow (‘Yelena Belova' and ‘Natasha Soars' by Lorne Balfe) 9.     WandaVision (‘Opening Themes: 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s' and ‘End Cretids' by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez and Christophe Beck) 10. 田野:6.5分 (编剧,“沙丘”专题等16期嘉宾) 诺兰电影的重点并不在剧作,而是在“视觉造型”。他经常用一场戏甚至一个道具来代指整部电影的核心表达。从场面来说,主角演讲的场地是篮球场,奥本海默站在壁炉前、篮球架下,壁炉象征火烤,篮架象征绞索,整个演讲其实就是烧死女巫的代指。从道具来说,比如苹果和桔子。苹果是美军的代指,桔子是核武器的代指——拉比是一个反核的人,所以他一上来的动作就是给奥本海默剥桔子;而主角组装原子弹时,又像在把桔子瓣拼到一起——诺兰反转的精妙正是来源于这些视觉造型的铺垫,而非文本制造的震惊。 法兰西胶片:6分 (《蜘蛛侠纵横宇宙》等30期嘉宾,公号“第一导演”) 失去高概念后不哲学了,以往那种唯心、形而上学的东西极其稀少,始终没建立起世界毁灭和政治迫害在感官上的联系;那些超现实的伦理恐惧,卡梅隆30多年前就拍过。再说“美国文革”,强权对尊严的打击,就电影里的强度,哪怕在《封神》面前都很初级;虽然人性的破败不能这么比,但经验积累的疼痛确实达不到那个份上。性的象征也有限,几乎要变成《燃冬》了。制作上也开始明星过山车,诺兰需要这个?真有一种过于依赖原著的嫌疑。一系列落差,让我觉得,爱因斯坦最终也只是强行震惊。我人生第一次脱粉,有点不习惯,好在诺兰对电影的认知在线,给个及格分。 波米:6分 今年4月24日,美国新闻界发生了一件事。分属左右两翼的CNN与福克斯这一天同时开除了他们的王牌主播:CNN解雇了一位冒犯了共和党女性政客的黑人同性恋主播唐·雷蒙;福克斯则开除了一个长期散播右翼阴谋论的白人“川粉”塔克·卡尔森。解雇都没有先兆、没有通知,主播甚至是通过公司官推才得知自己不用来上班的,政治立场截然相反甚至针锋相对的主播获得了一模一样的羞辱。这件事,可以看作《奥本海默》的剧本延续到了2023年——“链式反应”是应对“政治极化”的最终解决方案。 节目流程: 节目总时长:01:42:05; 音频包含内容有(无剧透): 1)影片信息介绍; 2)主播为影片打分并阐述理由; 缺点环节涉及如下话题(含剧透): 1)查资料才能看的电影不是好电影? 2)主人公动机转变缺乏交代? 3)反核反战的主题很难成立? 4)许可被吊销与核试验并无关联? 5)“彩色主观,黑白客观”过于牵强? 6)爱因斯坦的震撼结局毫无逻辑? 7)“裂变”线照抄《萨利机长》? 8)对比《莫扎特》产生人称问题? 9)对“核扩散”的思考不及《守望者》? 10)女性角色一塌糊涂? 11)诺兰的“精英腔调”仍然浓重? 12)“特效团队被消失”反映了什么? 优点环节涉及如下话题(含剧透): 1)打开严肃电影的可能性? 2)“实拍”没有功劳有苦劳? 3)如何通过道具搭建“视觉造型”? 4)“新冷战”背景下的叙事探索? 5)主题不在“麦卡锡”而在“消除极化”? 6)宫斗落点为何强调肯尼迪? 7)加里·奥德曼如何贡献名场面? 8)“不提吴健雄”纯属无稽之谈? 外延涉及如下话题: 1)诺兰哥哥的逸事帮助他的剧作不落窠臼? 2)诺兰未来真的要拍《007》? 影片信息: 影片英文原名:Oppenheimer 本片北美分级:R级; 内地是否有删减:性爱戏等段落使用“重复素材的镜像倒放”、“大头贴”与“小黑裙”进行删减、裁剪及遮挡; 片尾是否有彩蛋:无; 内地是否有2D版:本片为2D电影; 内地是否有IMAX版:有; IMAX版有无特殊画幅:一代激光与70毫米胶片版IMAX部分画面1.43:1;其余版本部分画面1.9:1;(普通35毫米胶片版为画幅最窄的2.35:1) 内地是否有杜比版:有; 本期片目: 《天外魔花》(1956) 《2001太空漫游》(1968) 《月光光心慌慌》(1978) 《莫扎特》(1984) 《终结者2:审判日》(1991) 《终结者3》(2003) 《指环王3:王者无敌》(2003) 《拆弹部队》(2008) 《守望者》(2009) 《致命魔术》(2009) 《龙门飞甲》(2011) 《斯隆女士》(2016) 《萨利机长》(2016) 《此房是我造》(2018) 《信条》(2020) 《壮志凌云2:独行侠》(2022) 《芭比》(2023) 《封神第一部》(2023) 开场曲:(Ludwig Goransson); 结束曲:(Ludwig Goransson);

Since launching the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO PODCAST Patreon in April 2021, we've offered our patrons exclusive perks based on the tier they signed up for. One of those perks is participating in all request programs. If you want to participate in future all-request shows, please head over to our Patreon page, and join the community in any tier that is $5 USD/month or above. Once you do so you will be able to participate in all upcoming all-request programs. For this all-request show, and in honour of the release of the fifth and presumably last Indiana Jones adventure, INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY, I asked my patrons to select cues from action/adventure films with only one rule... no Indiana Jones tracks. Participants included Victor Field, Glenn McDorman, Will Welch, Don Mase, Carl Wonders, Stacy Livitsanis, Jérôme Flick, Al Brown, Deniz Çağlar, Lee Wileman, Jochen Stolz, Max Hamulyak, Angela Rabatin and Joe Wiles. They requested tracks from such composers as Basil Poledouris, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, John Debney, Joe Hisaishi, Craig Safan, Ludwig Goransson, John Williams, Andrew Lockington, Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard and Alfred Newman. This was once again a fantastic show to produce and I want to thank those who participated. It's finally here! The heavily anticipated 30th feature film from Marvel Studios has arrived with "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever". It's been an emotional wait for this film but now that it has hit theaters it's time to get down to the nitty gritty and discuss any and all things surrounding this movie. We start off discussing the success and impact of the original "Black Panther" and how it came to be (2:04). As per usual we go into our nom-spoiler big picture thoughts on the film (25:57), and then make our way into the spoiler filled parts of the movie following our character by character breakdowns (43:10). This is a long one but it's been a special one for us, so we appreciate everyone for rocking with us the way you do, thank you for your ears. Wakanda Forever! Our latest guests on Soundtracking are Pixar animator, writer and director, Domee Shi, and producer Lindsey Collins, who's new project together is the wonderful Turning Red. Streaming now on Disney + Turning Red tells the story of a 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian student who transforms into a giant red panda when she gets into a heightened emotional state. It's scored by our old friend Ludwig Goransson, and you will, of course, hear plenty of his music throughout the conversation.

Marching onward in 2022, we've got the Obi-wan Kenobi series teaser trailer to mention, a rumor we're kind of hoping isn't true about Grogu (but we don't spoil anything, just in case), and have some videos to recommend if you're thinking of spending a small fortune on a trip to the "stars" near Hollywood Studios in Orlando. The Bad Batch will return a little older here in 2022 according to the composer for the show and Andor hires someone to handle scoring that isn't Ludwig Goransson. Go figure. Boba Fett wrapped up last month. Obi-wan is walking up to bat. Clone Force 99 is probably going to bat third with Andor in the clean-up spot and Fulcrum, Mando, and an Acolyte in the line-up as well. We keep tabs on the games, collectibles, and park news as well, so give us a listen and tell us what you think about what you hear, what you want to hear more and what you'd rather we stop "forcing" you to sit through.
