Les défenseurs de tech responsable l'attendaient avec impatience, et il est désormais là. Le Fairphone 4 est disponible en précommande depuis quelques jours. Cette nouvelle version du plus écologique, durable et réparable des smartphones a droit à une véritable mise à jour technique ainsi qu'à une toute nouvelle esthétique. Tour d'horizon d'un smartphone pas comme les autres à bien des niveaux.Pour ceux qui ne connaitraient pas Fairphone, il s'agit d'un smartphone neutre en termes de déchets électroniques. Il contient des matériaux provenant de sources équitables et bien souvent recyclés. Autre caractéristique presque unique, le mobile bénéficie d'une garantie de cinq ans sans frais supplémentaires afin d'encourager les consommateurs à conserver leur appareil le plus longtemps possible. Et preuve du sérieux de sa démarche, ce Fairphone 4 affiche une note de durabilité comprise entre 82 et 84/100 à l'indice Eco-rating. Au total, huit modules de rechange sont mis à disposition des utilisateurs pour une réparation facile.Côté technique, l'écran du Fairphone 4 est de 6,3 pouces avec un affichage Full HD+ et une protection Gorilla Glass 5 de Corning. Les performances sont délivrées par le processeur Snapdragon 750G de Qualcomm qui permet aussi au smartphone de prendre en charge la 5G. Le module photo principal de 48 Méga pixel avec autofocus, stabilisation optique de l'image et flash LED à double tonalité est accompagné d'un capteur ultra grand-angle 120° là aussi de 48 Mp. Le système d'exploitation n'est autre que l'Android 11, avec une assistance logicielle garantie jusqu'à fin 2025 et des mises à jour assurées vers Android 12 et Android 13. Pour vous offrir ce Fairphone 4, comptez tout de même 579 euros pour la version 6 Go de RAM et 128 Go d'espace de stockage, et de 649 euros pour 8 Go de mémoire vive et 256 Go de stockage.Comme toujours, on se réjouit de voir la marque Fairphone progresser de la sorte, non seulement parce que c'est bon pour la planète, mais aussi parce que cela pousse les autres constructeurs à se verdir. Ceci dit, le Fairphone 4 n'est pas exempt de reproches. Selon les premières observations l'autonomie du smartphone serait clairement inférieure à la moyenne du marché avec seulement 12h au compteur. Autre constat, l'écran serait aussi l'un des pires du marché avec une luminosité maximale très faible et un taux de contraste indigne d'un appareil à 600 euros.Au final, le concept du Fairphone 4 est toujours aussi intéressant. Mais en pratique, on ne peut s'empêcher de poser sans cesse les mêmes questions. Comment le Fairphone 4 va-t-il vieillir ? Sera-t-il toujours à la hauteur dans deux ans ? Comme de nombreux médias spécialisés l'ont remarqué, il y a fort à parier que le smartphone sera très lent et largement dépassés par les marques concurrentes d'ici peu, d'autant plus que des constructeurs majeurs comme Apple ou Samsung utilisent de plus en plus de composants recyclés et sont bien meilleurs en termes de mises à jour logicielles.
