We know how Donald opened Saints Row IV now! Like sands through the hourglass, so are the episodes of Nintendo Free Radio. Following a three week recording break, Stephen kicks off New Business with a couple of 71 follow-ups: Groove Coaster 2 and the further misadventures of Meg Ryan in Final Fantasy X HD(er). Donald then moves to follow up with a game he no longer owns as of publishing time, but he cedes to Stephen for most of a long Final Fantasy Explorersdiscussion. Donald picks up with his first GBA game on Wii U that he actually played, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3. Long name, but the e-Reader levels make it worth buying. After that, it's the return of the otome as we rewrite history with Code;Realize. Austen deals with a superstitious, cowardly lot in Assassin's Creed Syndicate - the last one of those we'll see for a while, sadly it means Watch Dogs 2 - before grabbing a couple of titles off PSN in The Deadly Tower of Monsters and Saturday Morning RPG. Also, we have our use of "The Touch" for 2016. Whatcha Watchin' comes out of the break with Donald dealing with a couple of murderous psychos in future Vita visual novel Psycho;Pass and a wrapup on Death Note. Stephen then gets a little investigation in with Rosewood and Elementary. Austen keeps the Baker Street express rolling with Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, before hitting every superhero show in the business. The first of a two-part Feature deals with something we didn't cover off last time; our personal 2016 hype trains. Some will get delayed, some may not work at all, and Donald makes the obvious pick for his #1. Then it's a news lightning round with EA out of E3, GameStop as game publisher and a Sony reorganization. In the Mushrooms, Stephen's Mushrooms get wildly hijacked while Donald casually invites a biological stain to commit a biologically impossible act. (Note that the second half is un-Pokemoned for a very particular reason.) We'll join you again shortly for a much shorter episode, but if there's something you want us to talk about when we record again, shoot us an email or leave it below. Also, keep an eye on our Twitter feed @nfrpodcast to find out when that next recording will be. This podcast was recorded on January 31 and was edited by Donald Theriault.
In today's episode, a new elite social space for Destiny's best PVP players, PS4 tops sales in Japan with the help of Final Fantasy X HD, the PC Gaming press conference at E3 adds 10 more developers, more features come to Windows 10's Xbox app, Don't Starve is headed to Wii U next week, the next Witcher 3 patch will improve console performance but don't expect it this week, and finally the PS4 Ultra Street Fighter will support PS3 sticks. complex.computer

A delayed podcast eventually releases. A bad podcast is bad forever. (Original recording date: May 18. Not kidding.) Yes, we readily admit this episode took a loooooooooong time to edit. But we hope the content is worth the several months of baking this nearly-lost episode had. Donald's New Business begins with one of the ten best games of 2014 in Kirby Triple Deluxe, in which you can almost hear Austen considering the game. After that, Donald hits the links and finds Mario Golf World Tour to be... par for the course. Finally, Donald provides proof that yes, he did in fact play a freaking otome game in the form of Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsegumi. Stephen was heavy with the roleplaying as he got into the mix with Atelier Totori Plus, but saves most of his praise for the game that would have been his Game of the Year if it had come out a few months later, Tales of Xillia. Austen brings it to the break with the final wrapup of Final Fantasy X HD - yes, lightning was dodged - and the only old game he'd play all year that counts, Captain America: Super Soldier. Also, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is there for some reason. In Whatcha Watchin', Donald wound his way through the byzantine requirements to bring you word of the early days of the WWE Network, while Stephen clocked in a little Adventure Time. Austen's group of shows is superheroic, as you might expect, with the BluRay releases of Spectacular Spider-Man and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. At the time of the recording, friend of the show Neal Ronaghan was getting a lot of heat for his Mario Kart 8 review - if only that would be the stupidest threat of the year. Anyway, since the plan was to have this out around the time of Mario Kart 8's release, the Feature is a look at the Mario Kart series. The Mushrooms contain change recommendations for a multi-billion dollar franchise, dancing on the grave of motion gaming... and vinyl siding? Also, a rather important medical update. In case you missed it on the GOTY show, we're talking The Wizard soon. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the movie or anything connected to it, so tweet it to us @nfrpodcast, email it to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com or leave it below! No, we didn't get temporarily possessed by Anna Marie - there's just a lot of RPGs to talk about.Time: 2'51"33Some days, you just need to sit down and vent a spleen, and so Nintendo Free Radio returns to air out its body parts in elongated glory. Stephen is up first in New Business with a look at a Kickstarter project that actually managed to reach its goal... the programming/wildlife board game Robot Turtles, which may or may not be Frog Fractions 2. In actual video game news, Stephen also got on the Tales of Xillia train a few months back and gives you an extended look at the game that spawned a $130 LE. Donald has a Final Fantasy X HD update with a little history being made, then proceeds to go HAM on his Vita memory card and hits a couple of platformers in the news lately before finishing with extended impressions of UbiSoft's Child of Light - a game that actually came out at the usual price Ubisoft games get bought at. Austen was in on FFX and Child of Light, but saves his main RPG ire for South Park: The Stick of Truth, which in true Obsidian fashion managed to crash before he could boot the game. After a special all-Talkback episode of Now Posted, Whatcha Watchin' is animation-free for the first time in a long time. Stephen discusses Gold Rush Alaska and Burn Notice, while Donald lets his Google Glass freak flag fly on a visit to Silicon Valley. Austen has the super-heroic (and super-average) duo of Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 to finish things off. For the Feature discussion, since three Vita owners represents a quorum the trio looks at the future of Sony and Nintendo's dedicated handheld business in light of some bad NPD results. Is the only thing keeping the VIta alive in Japan Akiba's Trip? Possibly. You'll have to listen to find out. Finally, the Mushrooms feature a purchase Stephen will enjoy, a purchase we KNOW Austen will inevitably regret, and a purchase Donald's really conflicted about. Unfortunately, E3 is coming up, and we want to hear from you in the run-up to the big show - so drop us an email, will ya? The 'Cocks reassemble this week in one of their wildest episode yet! They debate the issue of having fans. The two Rob's talk about how they used to work with a guy in porno. That prompted Angry Rob to talk about Jonathan Daniel Brown AKA "The Legend." While Nick keeps it real with the Mexicans.Handsome talks about the newest Battlefield map pack and the stand alone alpha for Day Z. While Nick and Angry Rob play Strike Suit Zero. Warframe is on Nick's mind and he does not understand why. Nick also falls in love with Trials: Fusion. Angry Rob is taking #ShitGameSundays too far when he buys Putty Squad and plays Final Fantasy X HD remake. In the news the 'Cocks are once again forced to talk about Nintendo and their future. Angry Rob voice his "concern" to the point of annoyance. Yet another member of the Naughty Dog family leaves and they debate why that is and if it even matters. Looking for some more inside baseball? We aim to please. There's been a rush of episodes lately, but now Nintendo Free Radio appears to be back at standard operation. For New Business, Austen leads off (surprisingly) with quick hits on "it's-not-a-puzzle-game-Donald" Towerfall Ascension (PS4), which is pretty good for an Ouya port, and Tecmo's newest dungeon crawler-destroyer Deception IV: Blood Ties. Austen follows up with brief updates on three games of recent vintage: Final Fantasy X HD, Infamous Second Son and Knack. Stephen hasn't had a chance to play much, but after a quick trip to the Castle of Illusion he does lead the crew down the aisles of Sony's Easter weekend flash sale. (Note: We are well aware this segment includes complaints about the lack of Vita support. It literally came and went during editing. Blame Sony for its inclusion.) Donald wraps with a game fresh off its one Shine Get Moment in the NFRIT, Beyond Good and Evil and surprisingly hasn't encountered a single matchstick in Profesor Layton and the Azran Legacy, but has encountered back loot luck in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. In Whatcha Watchin', Austen finally did get around to seeing Captain America: Winter Soldier, but saves most of his time for classic combat/harem anime Ranma 1/2 (Season 1) and CBS's take on Sherlock Holmes in Elementary. Stephen takes a few minutes to provide catchup on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D before grabbing the latest frightning find from his Netflix... Turbo FAST. Turns out, rocket-powered snails is as insane as it sounds. Donald's turn covers Miyazaki's return to child-friendly fare in Ponyo before being reminded of a puzzle in Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, as well as acknowledging a recent passing and the end of an era. The Listener Mail had a couple of extended pieces, one posted without comment on our website and the other addressed in detail, as Shawn wants to know how the show is edited. War stories are traded and we hope it makes clear why these episodes can take a while. The Mushrooms address gaming parodies, Square re-releases, and plagiarists getting awards... though we do risk redundancy. Want to give us some more mail to chew on in extended detail, or just comment in general? Leave a comment below or send an email to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com. Until next time, eat, sleep, and end the streak. This podcast was edited by Donald Theriault, and all music is used under fair use protection. We'd tell you to follow the buzzards but they have a bad social media presence.
Neither length of episode nor PC near-death experience can stop this episode from launching! For this episode, we have made two pieces of history. The first is that we have a guest from outside the NWR family, as RPGamer forum admin/RPGCast regular Anna Marie Privitere lent several hours of her time to talk shop with us, and the second is that the editor nearly split the show in two until the final product wouldn't set a record for longest episode ever.First up, it's all New Business led off by Anna's look back at the alchemic action of Atelier Meruru (you can see her entire playthrough here) and finds out if they passed Soul Society in the DS tactical RPG Bleach: The 3rd Phantom. Austen picks up the RPG torch with early impressions of Final Fantasy X HD and the multi-ethnic group action of Infamous: Second Son. Stephen goes to the wall for impressions of Pokemon Battle Trozei, a game so addictive it literally kept Donald up all night, before clicking into Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and infecting parts of the rest of the show. Finally, Donald proves that even shonen soccer has crap officiating in Inazuma Eleven (3DS), before dropping a truth bomb (and making a business deal) on Yoshi's New Island. For the second half of the show, it's everything else's time to shine. Anna opens with the Lifetime comedy Drop Dead Diva, which somehow manages to combine 2014's Whatcha Watchin' into one show, and also watched some Bleach to follow up from earlier. Donald engaged in time travel with a wrapup of Steins;Gate, while Austen finished off his Robotics;Notes from 32 and managed to squeeze in the entire run of Veronica Mars including the Kickstarted movie. Stephen finishes with another selection from his haunted Netflix queue, bring Sword Art Online from the land of the Magic Waifu before a discussion of Captain America: Winter Soldier dives headfirst into a discussion of the role of movies in the Marvel universe. For the Feature Discussion, there is an extended look at recent statements made by SquareEnix on the nature of their business going forward (source article translation: http://www.siliconera.com/2014/03/31/bravely-defaults-success-west-making-square-enix-rethink-jrpgs/) along with some information on the difficulty of getting niche titles on Virtual Console from someone who is asked about it quite frequently. An extra-large order of Mushrooms finishes the show as Atlus, EA, Blizzard, and frequent punching bags Sony all get rapidly fired at.The plan for next episode is to catch up on some Listener Mail, so would you kindly drop us a line to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com or leave a comment here? You can also find Anna most weeks on the RPGCast or streaming RPGs - follow her on Twitter @amprivitere for updates on her streaming schedule. This podcast was edited by Donald Theriault. All music contained is used for discussion context under fair use protection. Yoshi's New Island went for $18 USD.

Hey everyone and welcome back to another episode of Final Fantasy Union! This show, Darryl is joined by Lauren and Spencer and they are all over the Final Fantasy X HD release. First up is an incredibly in depth discussion about the new game release. The trio waxes nostalgic about their very first experience playing Final Fantasy X. Hear what they thought and felt when they played the game for the first time years and years ago. They talk about who their favorite characters are as well as how popular the game is on social media right now. Is it worth picking up? After listening, you’ll have to decide for yourself! And now we move onto your questions. The gang have discussions about wether or not remaking Final Fantasy 7 is really that hard, their thoughts on FF12: Revenant Wings, and what FF creature who has been absent from the games for a while should come back.Wrapping up the show is the music segment which comes from Lightning Returns. Enjoy the show and we’ll be back soon!

Hey everyone and welcome back to the next episode of Final Fantasy Union! This 86th episode sees Darryl who is joined by Lauren and Spencer and the trio make their way into the world of Final Fantasy. First up is the news and this week we have a lot! First up is an interview where a producer shares that younger fans prefer spin-offs to main games; the ranting ensues. Lightning Returns has its release in Japan, more characters are returning, and the Japanese audio will be available for all (free for some). Final Fantasy X HD get's a western release date but the Vita version is in limbo with no new information. Final Fantasy XIV has a new patch coming out in December and Lightning makes a appearance in the MMO. And there may be a new Dissidia game on the SE production floor. Next up are your responses to the Burning Question which had to do with whether or not you're playing FInal Fantasy XIV right now. You guys are definitely playing the game and seem to be enjoying it (as we are)! The new question is a big one: "Regarding Lightning Returns, will less be more?" Get your answers in! Now it's time for the gang to answer your questions. The trio talks about how the XIII battle system is different and requires a different play style, whether female protagonists are as good in FF as the male, and what will SE do after they release FFXV. As you can imagine, there is some wonderful discussion here! the show rounds out with a fun remix from Final Fantasy 4. We hope you all have a WONDERFUL rest of the year and FFU will see you again in 2014!
Welcome back once more to another episode of Final Fantasy Union! This extra long show features Darryl who is joined by Lauren and special guest Brian and they have a lot to talk about. First up is the news (with a healthy supply of ranting). The trio discusses the creation of a new quality control panel; who's on it, is it good, and more! Then, there is a bit of news about Lighting Returns including no plans for Final Fantasy XIII-4 and new gameplay footage showing off different mechanics from the game. The Final Fantasy X HD game finally gets a Japanese release date, but no release date for the west. Final Fantasy XIV gets a big patch working on end game dungeons, population caps, server transfers, and more and they release a lot of new information on Housing coming in 2.1. There is a Final Fantasy VII PC mod that's getting some cool attention. And finally, Final Fantasy VI is coming to mobile devices. Next up are your answers to the burning question which dealt with what FF game should be turned into a musical/opera. Your answers were wildly creative and fun! Get your answers in for the next Burning Question which is "Are you playing Final Fantasy XIV?" After your responses, the gang spends a little more time talking about Final Fantasy XIV and their adventures so far! This long episode ends as it always does with a great remix; this time you'll be able to hear a great FF7 remix! Enjoy the show and we'll see you again in November!
Happy July everyone and welcome back to the world of FInal Fantasy Union, the place to get your Final Fantasy fix! Darryl is joined this time by Lauren and very special guest Beyhan and they dive into things straight away. This show is all about the news as SE has dumped a ton of it! First off is the news for Lightning Returns including the Cloud Strife costume, the digital download release info, the return of a previous character from 13, and the release date for the soundtrack! Next up are the updates for Final Fantasy X HD; there's brand new cutscenes with original voice acting which has been written by Nojima as well as an update on the Cross Save feature. Final Fantasy XV also has news with Nomura talking about how both XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 will have similarities between the two games since they are both being developed simultaneously! The gang moves into the online world with the news from Final Fantasy XIV including the player numbers for the Beta version as well as a cameo appearance of a previous FF character in the online adventure. The final piece of news deals with Final Fantasy VII and how it's being released on Steam! However, the trio don't end there as they answer 2 of your questions this week which deal with whether or not FFXV will surpass FFVIII as the most successful FF game and how a certain aspect of the gameplay in FF7 works. Be sure to stick around for the incredible music segment with a mix from the new OCR album for FF6 (you won't want to miss it). And make absolutely sure that you stick around to the very end; you'll love it :).
Welcome back again to world of Final Fantasy with this, the 79th episode of Final Fantasy Union. We have your fix from the Final Fantasy universe this week with Darryl who is joined by Lauren and Spencer! First up, the news, and boy do we have some doosies this time. The gang talks about the Final Fantasy X HD remix that will include X-2. Unfortunately, if you want it for the Vita, you'll have to buy them both (X and X-2) separately. In addition, they talk about how the music from FF came in third in the Classic FM Hall of Fame because of your support! And then the biggest piece of news: Yoichi Wada steps down from being the president of Square Enix most likely due to huge financial losses (listen to the show to hear what the losses were). Next up on the schedule is the Burning Question. SInce SE announced all information about FFX HD, the old BQ wasn't relevant anymore, so we asked another. The trio spends time reading your thoughts on Wada leaving and what it could mean for SE, and you don't hold back (which we love)! And lastly, we have your questions and this week, there is a great discussions. Listen in as they talk about whether or not future FF games should be cross platform as the XIII series has been. As always, don't miss out on the music segment at the very end. In honor of the news about FFX HD, the remix this week comes from the game and you won't want to miss it! This explosive show is one that you won't want to skip!
It been 4 weeks since the last episode of Final Fantasy Union and the gang is BACK for another show to bring you all things Final Fantasy. Darryl is joined by Spencer and Lauren once again. This two segment show brings lots of rants and tangents, so buckle in for a wild and crazy ride. First up is the news (or lack thereof). With all the news in the video game industry, the trio discusses how SE has been ridiculously silent on the Final Fantasy front. Since the last show, there have been news pieces about Lightning Returns being released digitally (no release date), Final Fantasy X HD character renders of Yuna and Tidus (no gameplay footage at all), and some misunderstanding about the clothing development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII. With all of these announcements, Square Enix has told us that more information is coming "soon". Next up is the Burning Question from last episode and your responses. The gang talks about whether or not Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be on the PS4. Your responses to the question provides some amazing discussion points for the hosts and they go off on many rants and tangents! They also discuss the potential backlash against SE if Versus XIII were to be released on the PS4 rather than the PS3. It's a great roundtable so don't miss it! Be sure to get your answers in for the next BQ which is "How much did the Final Fantasy X HD tease anger you?" Last up is a killer remix from Final Fantasy V that you'll want to hear! Enjoy the show and we'll see you again in a few weeks!
Returning this season at its previously scheduled time, the Mike & Jeddy Show is back! Join Alex Jedraszczak and Michael Gray as they talk about stuff vaguely related to videogames! Cut down to an hour and twenty minutes from almost four hours of recorded podcast, listen as the two of them casually discuss such exciting topics as: - The PlayStation 4 is coming out! - Neither Jeddy nor Michael even has a PlayStation 3 - Final Fantasy Tactics, Xenogears, and other games we used to enjoy but were actually bad - Final Fantasy X HD is announced, but still not Final Fantasy VII HD - Jeddy hasn't owned a Nintendo console since the Super Nintendo - Monster Rancher - Let's Plays of Let's Plays - Flying unicorns are totally a thing - Meteors hitting schools in The Sims 3 - Modern gaming technology has finally been able to replicate Space Ace and Dragon's Lair - Are "Bonus Editions" worth the money? How much gaming is a dollar worth? - Almost three hours of off-topic that was cut out of the podcast No, seriously, most of the podcast was Michael and Jeddy talking about Disney, The Simpsons, and Dragon Ball Z. The excised content has been saved for posterity, but don't expect to hear it until I get through the other three or four hours of off-topic content already in the queue. Should Michael and Jeddy be allowed to podcast by themselves anymore? You be the judge!
Welcome to the first episode of Final Fantasy Union in the year 2013! While most of the industry is laying low right now, we have a ton of news and updates from the FF universe. Darryl sits down with Spencer and Lauren and they hit it hard. First up, Spencer regales us with his trip that he took to try out and experience Lightning Returns. He has a lot of information from the event as well as announcing a competition for YOU to win a prize! However, the news doesn't stop there! Aside from the numerous Lightning Returns announcements, there are pieces of info about the Final Fantasy X HD remake and the new FF iOS game! Up next is the Burning Question and your answers from the previous show. You let us know how long you've been playing the FF franchise and it's great to hear everyone's backstory with the series! Along those same lines, the crew gives you the new Burning Question for next time which is "Is Square-Enix still your main company for JRPGs?" With all the news from the Square Enix event and all of your wonderful answers to the Burning Question, the gang runs out of time to have a proper questions segment (don't worry, there will one next time). Rounding out the show is a fantastic remix from from the game that started it all: the original Final Fantasy. You won't want to miss it! The new year is here and there's a lot more to come; don't miss out!
