Keez maakte verder een doldwaze bezorg-tocht in Deliver at all Costs en kwam diepgang tegen in onverwachte hoek. Hoor het hier in De Videogame Show!
1... 2... The RPGrinders are coming for you. 3... 4... Break will even the score. 5... 6... Eric is pulling dirty tricks. 7... 8... Frank will seal your fate. 9... 10... Let the nightmarish fun begin! The nightmare begins with an extra short news section. Although most games have already given their 2023 release dates, the Grinders were able to dig some new release dates. Radiant Silvergun is coming to the PC, 9 Years of Shadows is coming to the Switch, and Blasphemous 2 is coming to last generation systems. All three games are going to be released within the next few weeks. A nightmare would not be proper without a good scary movie. Frank reviews the horror video game adaption of Five Nights at Freddy's. Will this movie leave you up and night crying for your mommy? Only Frank knows for sure. Unlike Frank, Break didn't seem to get the memo. He reviewed another video game related adaption, the very unscary Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. Nothing could be more horrifying than the Grinders own version of Hell, the Stinkos. As usual, Break has a list of complaints to terrify the listeners. A list that grows as the show is happening! A list of death, destruction, and greed. Crooked politicians, fun hating priests, the continual failures of the United States police force, the deaths of beloved celebrities (RIP Richard Moll), and an escalating war/genocide. As if those weren't enough, Frank has gotten sick and a mentally ill man is on the run in Michigan after committing acts of pure evil. As scary as the news may be the light of the Sweetos peaks through the pitch-black nights. A couple of those nights will be enjoyed by Bernie. She is long overdue. Maybe she will spend that extra time playing Tales of Arise with Frank or getting ready to celebrate the unholiest of nights, All Hallow's Eve. Nothing embodies the horror of the night as a good scary movie. What makes a scary movie "good"? That's right! The KILLS! On this unholy night the Grinders finally decide the Greatest Kill of All Time! A lot of monstrous legends have already fallen and only 8 remain. Is Freddy Frueger's teenage girl killing television scarier than a nurse meeting her fate to the Gemini Killer? Will Art the Clown's unconventional gynecological skills out gore the master of killing ingenuity, Jason Vorhees? If Jason's cold-snap kill isn't gruesome enough, maybe his creative use of a sleeping bag will slay the competition? Is Norman Bates' shower scene thrilling enough to topple the unkillable Jason Vorhees? The good guys didn't want to be left out of frightening fun. Is Conan's ultimate act of revenge a better kill than the quip dropping Furiosa's face ripping fatality? Only one hero will walk away from this round but how will they fair in the next round? One hero versus three villains. The odds are not in the hero's favor. The horror maybe over for now but a new nightmare will always be waiting around the corner. Ghosts, goblins, vampires, police, werewolves, politicians, serial killers, and squirrels are only a few of the things that go bump in the night. They grow more powerful on the night of Halloween but they don't disappear in the morning. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Anal of time or anals of time? Am I still getting this wrong?

“BRAVE FOR ENTER BOSOM” Treasure's 10th release was also its first out-and-out shmup, and what an impact it made. A niche title made in small numbers on an unpopular machine (in the West at least) that became a legendary game. Leon, Chris Worthington, James and Michiel each have a different history with Radiant Silvergun from 'back in the day' 25 years ago right up to recent encounters via the Xbox and Switch versions. Along with community contributions we dive deep into the design of this storied STG-cum-RPG. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_574.mp3 Music featured in this issue:1. Which games start off amazingly well? The more they thought about it, the more knights Peter (www.retrogamepapa.nl), Michiel and Max realised that by far not every game has a good start. Even most good games start off kind of slow, with lots of tutorials, boring environment etc. But of course there are also some games that have spectacular opening parts and levels. First levels that are absolute levels, mate. Some obvious ones are mentioned, but also ones that are lesser known.Games mentioned in the entrance: Radiant Silvergun, Cosmo Gang, Tokyo Ghostwire, Schildmaid MX (once again!) and Ninja Warriors (SNES/Super Famicom).Other media mentioned: Super Mario Movie, Ted Lasso, Beef (not the hip-hop doc series), 65 (Kylo Ren vs. Dinosaurs).Games mentioned in the main topic: Bioshock, Contra Spirits, Double Dragon, Demon's Crest, Onimusha 2, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, Splinter Cell 3, Toki, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime and many more.
Whether you know him from his legendary work on Final Fantasy Tactics or elsewhere, odds are you at least know composer Hitoshi Sakimoto's name. And while he often gets talked about for his work in those Ivalice titles like FFT, Final Fantasy XII, and Vagrant Story, Sakimoto has worked on a fascinating variety of game soundtracks, dating back to 1988!As fascinating as it is that he worked on music for Radiant Silvergun and Gradius V, today we are, of course, discussing Sakimoto's music in RPGs, including four new-to-Rhythm Encounter game debuts. The shmup, which used to be simply known as a shooter, is one of the oldest genres in gaming. The genre was permanently established when Taito's Space Invaders rocked arcades in Japan, establishing a legacy that would carry on throughout the entirety of video game history. @Hoptimus (RFC) of the Retro Futurist Podcast joins @GameAgentET (OGiH) and The Six Button Samurai for a wild and woolly trip through the shmup's evolution during the 8/16/32-bit age, stopping to pay respects to a vast galaxy of personal favorites such as Lifeforce, Blazing Lazers, Thunder Force, MUSHA, Radiant Silvergun, Darius Gaiden, Battle Garegga, and a few dark horse suggestions you may not have heard of. Time to cover the complete arcade history of Treasure - the game developer that gave us Radiant Silvergun, Ikargua, and… that's it! We explore these two fun SHMUPs that mix the shooter genre with a dash of puzzle mechanics. What mysterious explosion set us up the bomb for a plot device? How is Treasure still open after no new game releases since 2014? Why is Ikaruga so divisive? We also enjoy some cawfee tawk about new shooter genre mashups, an update on Atari tokens, the correlation between Nickelodeon slime and male pattern baldness, and the pizza debate rages on.

Today it's Ozzy, Arnaldo, Anthony, and Paul going over their favourite video games of 1998 that didn't make the cut to the Round of 16. Some glaring omissions are addressed, and some surprises make the list as well! Paul starts off with Starsiege: Tribes and Radiant Silvergun (11:00). The baton is handed off to Arnie to talk about the game that delayed Ocarina of Time, 1080 Snowboarding, and crowd favourite, Marvel vs. Capcom (33:00). Anthony is up next with Rare64 video games, NFL Blitz and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (53:00) before Ozzy rounds things out with Geoff's picks in absentia, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins and Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1:10:30) and, of course, his own, Parasite Eve and Einhander (1:16:20). Hi hi hi. Before you knew it, it was time for another podcast, and here we are! In our weird synchronistic way, we cover a couple of picks this episode that have at least one thing in common: they make Jeremy a little angry. We open with the soundtrack to (of all things) the pinball game Black Knight: Sword of Rage, and we discuss some of the history of video games through the perspective of pinball, and how the two mediums comingle. The soundtrack by Scott Ian thumps and marches to a metal beat as the pinball machine mercilessly takes your money, and we explore the mingling of the musical and mechanical in this very special release. Then Anthony brings the vertical shooter oddity Radiant Silvergun and its recent Data Discs release, which currently represents the ONLY extant vinyl release for music by Hitoshi Sakimoto. We reconcile our "Yasumi Matsuno" expectations for the soundtrack with the fact that Sakimoto is a big shooter fan, and we discuss Radiant Silvergun's place in the pantheon of shooters, and why this one is practically custom-made for frustration. We then cover the recent news in the world of video game soundtracks on vinyl record with some new releases, announcements, and lots of opportunity for money spending! What kind of podcast would we be running if we didn't cost you some money? Finally, we discuss the phenomenon of the "B-side" and whether it has a place in the world of video game soundtracks, and what it might take for a consumer to make some room, so to speak, on the releases we have now to allow for oddities and more raw creativity on our shelves versus the "as-seen-in-game" soundtrack reproductions. What do you think? Join us and weigh in!

Dale and Jeremy use the buddy system to spot each other in this week's games-we-played episode. Dale feels the burn in Ring Fit Adventure, and explains just how to avoid getting TOO shredded at Nintendo's "squeezy-circle"-based exercise game. Jeremy plays an old vertical-shooter classic that you've probably heard of called Radiant Silvergun, and it makes him kind of mad but it's also worthy of respect. Which game causes more forehead-vein popping? Listen and find out!

In Episode 125, we talk about Bethesda's continued problems with Fallout 76, Sakurai's comments on a Kid Icarus Uprising port, the potential future of Smash Ultimate's DLC characters, the possibility of Radiant Silvergun coming to Switch, and more! Major topics include: 1) Do we prefer Snake's Codecs or Palutena's Guidances in Smash? And what other series could offer similar commentary? 2)What Nintendo IP would we love to see in a different genre? 3)How do we feel about Microsoft's studio acquisitions and should Nintendo do the same?
