We are locked and loaded for another jam packed show right here on The Nielson Show! The fellas start off with plenty of Leafs talk as in typical Leafs fashion, they leave the playoffs with another dramatic exit… the boy's discussed what's next for this team organization. Like we always do, Morning Announcements from 100.3 The Bear was the first segment we hit on today's show. We discussed some Tecmo… then transitioned to some CFL preseason and plenty of NHL recap. After the first sports update, we dove right into The Fan Zone to discuss some predictions in the Oilers & Stars series. We also did a nerve check for the nasties… To finish off hour one, we got right into The Good, Bad & Ugly presented by The Seven Eighty.
Side Quests is back and so is series creator, Matt aka Stormageddon! They are a podcaster, editor, producer, writer and quarterback! The game they are talking about today is Tecmo Bowl by Tecmo. In this episode of Bring the Pain, I decided to kick it old school and do a VGM podcast about one of my favorite video game series, Ninja Gaiden. This fast-paced side-scroller had some of my fondest memories with my friends and my brother Tom. Ninja Gaiden wasn't a joke, as many of us who played it knew, but what kept us playing was the soundtrack. All three games could definitely fit into the break beats category, which is the style of music a lot of my DJ friends play. This episode is definitely full of octane from the front to back with a few surprises along the way. It's time to buckle up and get ready for one of the craziest rides you'll go on this year. Have a great day, everyone, and may the VGM be with you.Thank you for the support and contributions all of you make for my podcasts and articles each week. There are videogame remakes and there are videogame reimaginings, and it's clear Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn falls into the latter, triumphantly so. Released back in 1990 on the NES, the original Shadow of the Ninja played like a cross between Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden and Konami's Castlevania, a straightforward action platform with heavy emphasis on precise attacks and jumping.

“Any objections, Lady?” The infamous odd-one out. Nintendo SPD collaborated with Tecmo's Team Ninja for the Wii-exclusive follow-up to the Prime trilogy, with results that weren't greeted entirely enthusiastically by press or punters alike. Leon, Chris Worthington, Leah, Rich and community correspondents get to grips with Metroid: Other M - its quirky cameras and unintuitive interface, and perhaps most controversially, its character-changing portrayal of series hero, Samus Aran. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_629.mp3 Music featured in this issue:1. They're giving scholarships to influencers!? Welcome back to Crying In My Car, a podcast for teachers! Join our hosts Devin Siebold and James Yon as they consider changing their careers to become pro gamers. Is posting on instagram a real job? Of course it is! And apparently colleges are starting to catch on by giving social media influencers scholarships. They also found out this week that private schools are finally starting to become more obtainable for families in Florida, but is that even a good thing? You know, when we were kids video games were a lot simpler, but we've come a long way from cheating by picking Bo Jackson in Tecmo bowl. When you think about it, the gaming industry has grown almost enough to be bigger than the movie industry, so why aren't we encouraging students from pursuing a career in pro gaming? Being an influencer is the newest and best form of marketing today, and people are starting to catch on. They are now apparently giving scholarships to influencers at Western Government University to study how to become a better influencer. Seriously, where was this when we were going to college!? This week we have some great news for our listeners in Florida! Governor DeSantis passed a new bill that's going to award $8,000 to anyone who wants to put their kids into private schools! This is great news for parents, almost a little too great, what's the catch here? Tune in to find out more! We -- the Brothers Moriarty -- loved us some Ninja Gaiden in our younger years. The NES original is actually a vague reinterpretation of an arcade title by the same name that preceded it; yet, in turning Ninja Gaiden from a beat-'em-up into an action-platformer, developer Tecmo spawned a powerhouse that easily rivals other late-'80s classics. Indeed, it belongs in the conversation of best NES games, full-stop. Our investigation into Ryu Hayabusa's retro adventure doesn't only end with the first game, though, as we explore its contemporaries on the market and wax poetic about the heyday of the fictional ninja in greater media, and how Ninja Gaiden's deeply-told story gave us context, perhaps for the first time in our then-young lives, into the deeper potential of video games.
