We've waited long enough: Housemarque's newest PlayStation game has arrived. Indeed, they always seem to be there in a second party capacity at launch, whether it's with Super Stardust for PS3 and Vita, or Resogun for PS4. Yet, their newest offering -- Returnal -- is a stark departure for a team previously known only for its arcadey fare, and so the question is: Do we like it? Well, we've got a whole lot to say (good and bad) in our exploration of the endless loop. Then: News! Sony has acquired a piece of Discord, and the service will be fully integrated into both PS4 and PS5. A redesign for PlayStation 5 is apparently already being redesigned, though it's nothing to get excited about. A new trademark for Sunset Overdrive has people talking about Insomniac's lone Xbox game and its future. And much, much more. Plus: Listener inquiries! Is publishing games on PC actually a really bad idea for PlayStation? Should critics be reviewing games without having finished them? What's the story with Sony's smallest first party team, Pixelopus? Will Colin be able to handle David Jaffe?! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We've hit the big 1-0! We're super excited for our 10th episode and we invited our good friend Kyle Springer from The Whatnauts to join us! We ask some probing 'getting to know you questions' and learn that we are completely incompatible gamers! We've been playing some mobile games like Hogwarts Mystery & Marvel Strike Force. As well as some freebies like TERA and the Defiance 2050 beta. Sam has a tiny Resogun update because she will still play that game any chance she gets. And Kyle is powering through a replay of Kingdom Hearts! We've got reactions to the Red Dead Redemption 2 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailers. And a listener question about consoles leads Sam to beg for help on fixing her Xbox one mic. contact@geekheartgames.com Twitter & Facebook: @geekheartgames Twitch.tv/GeekHeartGames geekheartgames.com/youtube geeekheartgames.com/discord Cody: @comicbookcody Sam: @sksuvak Kyle: @hush315 and @thewhatnauts
On this week's Geek Heart Games podcast, will God of War III opinions split our dynamic duo? Sam can't resist a deal and played a lot of disappointing games as a result, though she finally got to play Resogun multiplayer with our good friend Aleandro! Cody took on the terrifying new pickle monster of Monster Hunter World. We're getting back into Overwatch and there's a lot to cover! Also, we are joining the Xbox One brigade! contact@geekheartgames.com Twitter & Facebook: @geekheartgames geekheartgames.com/youtube geeekheartgames.com/discord Cody: @comicbookcody Sam: @sksuvak
On Episode 4 of the Geek Heart Games Podcast, Cody teaches his niece the importance of playing the objective. Sam fills the Resogun-shaped hole in her heart with Nex Machina. They both love Bloodborne, except for the part where they hate Bloodborne. They recap their hilarious stream of Zombie Vikings. They were impressed with PUBG mobile, but likely won't be playing much of it. And they discuss the latest Nindie News! contact@geekheartgames.com Twitter & Facebook: @geekheartgames geekheartgames.com/youtube geeekheartgames.com/discord Cody: @comicbookcody Sam: @sksuvak
This week, we kick things off with a special (but disturbing) Geek Heart Pets update. Sam's been playing Wipeout Omega (It's like Mario Kart but a sci-fi techno version) and Matterfall (it's like Resogun but not as good). Cody's been diving back into Fortnite Battle Royale (but not playing enough with Sam) and trying new things in Pokemon Red (Oh my god, Squirtle!). Then there was a ton of news to cover this week. Cody was super excited about the Nintendo direct announcements including Mario Tennis (Sam would just as soon play Disc Jam) and Smash Bros is coming in 2018! contact@geekheartgames.com Twitter & Facebook: @geekheartgames geekheartgames.com/youtube geeekheartgames.com/discord Cody: @comicbookcody Sam: @sksuvak
Cody Teetrick and Sam Suvak are super excited to bring you the first episode of the Geek Heart Games podcast! The "getting to know you" segment includes questions about favorite games, first games, other hobbies and more. They discuss their gaming additions of Monster Hunter World and Resogun, as well as Slay the Spire and Power Rangers: Legacy Wars.
This week Sam, Kelsey, Bobby, Matt and Huw take a look at what they've been playing, including Assassin's Creed: Origins, Battle Chef Brigade, Superhot, Wolfenstein 1 & 2, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Resogun and more. We also get into news hot off the press of Nintendo's new crazy cardboard creation the Labo as well as Kelsey enthusing over Stardew Valley's upcoming updates. All that, as well as listener questions and us all being infatuated with Matt's mustache on the show this week!
Housemarque is famed for its downloadable console games including Super Stardust, Dead Nation, Alienation and PS4 launch title Resogun. The veteran Finnish developer has made a name for itself crafting, precise, polished, technically accomplished and visually striking titles in publishing partnership with Sony. With its latest title, Nex Machina, launching for both PS4 and PC, Housemarque is taking its first step into self-publishing. Working in collaboration with pioneering developer Eugene Jarvis, who created arcade classics such as Defender, Robotron: 2084 and Smash TV, Nex Machina represents both a refinement and evolution of Housemarque’s design principles, as well as an opportunity for the developer to directly benefit from establishing and retaining its own IP. Here, Housemarque CEO Ilari Kuittinen and head of publishing Mikael Haveri discuss how the decision to self-publish has led to greater autonomy, a collaboration with Eugene Jarvis and how a game titled "Death Machine" could mean a new lease of life for the company.
