CATBOAT ROAD by KATE ROUNDS Mrs. Robinson meets Holden Caulfield—if Holden were a smart, sexy teenage lesbian in love with her mother's best friend. For Candace “Ace” Ragsdale, Mrs. Forest is an irresistible force of nature, luscious, tantalizing—and maybe not completely out of reach. The backdrop is the Massachusetts seaside town of Horton, cut off from the world. On the surface, boats sway on their moorings, while below bubbles a primal brew of salt and sea life—much like the Ragsdales, a decidedly modern family whose humor and goodwill skim breezily above an ocean of smoldering emotions. The Ragsdales aren't moored to social convention—but they've learned to surf the wave of the unknown and make the most of chaos. From Ace's womanizing-yet-worshipful brother to her elusive-yet-loving parents, we watch this well-meaning family weave its way into a rich tapestry of townspeople, often to comic effect. Into this chaos careers a rebel grandmother who shows up to help the Ragsdales save the town windmill, whose mysterious energy whips up the coastal disturbances of a changing world. As this spectacle of public conflict and private anguish unfolds, we're fully on Ace's side as she navigates the turbulent waters of love, sex, and small-town values. Spoiler alert: Catboat Road doesn't end as you might expect. But you'll race toward the finish line as this sly, seductive narrative moves at breakneck speed

In the movies, a grifter might be portrayed as someone with beady little eyes and a toothy smile that could charm even the cleverest out of their fortunes. Someone who was able to wheel and deal their schemes across the land until they're eventually forced to pay for their crimes. That's how it was with Jefferson "Soapy" Smith - who ended up living (and dying) as one of America's slipperiest con artists. Paul Carrack joins Music Journeys to reflect on his career and his latest release One on One. From Ace to Squeeze to Mike + The Mechanics, Carrack has been a part of some magical music. The 70-year-old talks about his humble beginnings, how Ace enjoyed soccer as much as music, the lasting power of songs like How Long and The Living Years, his lack of repair skills, and why he's okay with the fact that most people recognize the songs he's been a part of more than his name.
The English writer Edmund Clerihew Bentley, born in 1875, began his career as a newspaper journalist before publishing several books of poetry and writing a number of novels – and he was good at it. His best-known novel, Trent's Last Case, contains such mystifying plotting and thoughtfully written story twists that it is considered the first modern mystery novel. But, as you are about to learn, Edmund Clerihew Bentley is not remembered these days for his detective stories, but for an unusual poetic art form that has come to be known as a “Clerihew,” in honor of his middle name. William Tell's story might be described as equal parts legend and legendary. That's because his story took place over 700 years ago, and that's a long time for any set of facts to remain unsullied. Since many stories that become legends are built around a kernel of truth, the story begins by accepting that a Swiss-German man named William Tell was born around 1270. We also realize that over time, some non-factual detail may have crept into the story of his life – which is sometimes assumed to be fact. Regardless of the fog of time. Take a chance. Listen to the story. It's guaranteed you'll learn more about William Tell than your neighbor's know. Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. In the 1800s, wealthy Irish landowners hired “tenant farm managers” to care for their enormous estates and farms. One of those tenant farm managers was retired military officer from England by the name of Charles Boycott, who dreamed of becoming a “gentleman farmer.” Instead, through his own actions, and in a strange twist of fate, his surname, Boycott, became a verb in the English language, a verb meaning to ostracize, to exclude someone – from a society or group. For some folks, there's nothing more incentivizing than being told you "can't" do something. As a young boy, Glenn Cunningham was involved in a serious accident that almost cost him his legs. He was fortunate enough to keep them, but was told he would never walk again. Cunningham found that to be unacceptable, and he set out to prove everyone wrong. And he did! There are two things about the Leatherman that set him apart from everyone else on the planet. First, there was what he wore. His wardrobe was a single piece of clothing made entirely of scraps of leather (hence, the name he was known by) fastened together with bent nails. And second, there was his strict attention to time and place. Thus, for thirty-five years, his annual circuitous trek never varied. So dependable was the date of his arrival in the various villages that he visited, that it was said a person could set their clocks and calendars by his arrivals and departures. Ambrose Bierce, born June 24, 1842, left home at the age of fifteen to work as a printer's apprentice for an Ohio newspaper. Over time, because of his cynical writing style, "Bitter Bierce," as he was known to his readers, would rise to prominence as one of America's best-known literary figures. Perhaps his most famous account of the Civil War was his What I Saw of Shiloh, published in 1881. But if descriptive accounts of the Civil War aren't your cup of tea, I can guarantee that his most enduring book, The Devil's Dictionary, will rate a place of honor on your coffee table or bookcase. Words such as serendipity, destiny, kismet, fate, and just plain luck, describe situations in which a chance occurrence of events – lead to an unexpected outcome. Take the case of Percy Spencer, Raytheon's expert in the production of Magnetron tubes used in commercial and military radar systems. Serendipity – or any of those other words we just defined – happened – when a chocolate bar in Percy Spencer's shirt pocket ingloriously melted as he paused and stood in front of an active Magnetron tube – and that might be considered the moment of conception of the microwave oven. Today's story is not about Percy Spencer, but about another man – Roy Plunkett – who, like Percy was blessed with an unexpected outcome that led to an invention that is today loved by every housewife and chef in the world. Perhaps the philosopher Kahlil Gibran said it best. Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth -- until the hour of separation. Such was the case for the couple in this story --- the story of Edna and Charlie, whose Hollywood love affair seemed to have been a “match made in Heaven,” --------- and then --- suddenly --- it was over. They parted ways, but Charlie never fell “out of love,” for Edna -- and for the next 35 years he never let her forget she was special. When Paul Harvey spoke, it only took 2 or 3 words in his firm, staccato-like voice to let America's radio listeners know that he was on the air. He was identifiable as much for his Paul Harvey "Rest of the Story" segments as he was for the distinctive way he delivered his message. His presentations were often punctuated with silence to let his human-interest anecdotes and common-sense editorials sink in. Calvin Coolidge, America's 30th president has earned a place in history for three things. FIRST, he is thus far – the only president who can celebrate his birthday on the Fourth of July. SECOND, he is the only president to have been sworn into office by his father. And THIRD, he was best known then – and now – for his miserly use of words – the result of which has led to the nickname that followed him throughout his presidency – “Silent Cal.” Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. John Paul Jones is perhaps America's best-known naval commander. Blessed with a strategic mind and the bravado to attack British ships off the American coastline, he contributed greatly to America's independence. He was known for his dogged determination to beat the odds – a trait for which he has been rewarded with a seven-word quote often attributed to him, but more likely distilled – by historians – from his actual words. But it doesn't matter, and it's all explained in the following story. Then, after the Revolutionary War, America's Navy was disbanded due to a lack of funds, and Jones ended up in France where he died – in a hotel room – alone – at the age of forty-five. As a youngster, Pete Gray's favorite thing to do was to play catch with his dad – and if his dad weren't around, he would toss the ball into the air and catch it to the imagined cheers of a stadium full of fans. Then, shortly after his sixth birthday, Pete lost his right arm in a childhood accident that should have dashed his hopes of ever playing baseball at all, and yet! His grit and determination saw him rise through the Minor Leagues to a bona-fide Major League contract – and a story that no baseball – OR SPORTS FAN should ever tire of hearing. When Major George Armistead needed a special flag to fly above Fort McHenry during the War of 1812, he called upon one of America's most respected flag-makers, Mary Pickersgill, to see if she would accept the task of sewing the flag. Mary considered the flag's immense size, told Major Armistead she could do it, and then she quickly enlisted the help of a least a dozen seamstresses to assist with the project. You see, this was not – a “run-of-the-mill” flag – but a truly enormous flag that the Major intended to raise above the fort, but only when the time was right. What follows is an amazing story about a 19-year-old boy named Gilbert who – disguised as a girl – slipped out of France in 1776 – for the express purpose of helping America defeat the British during the Revolutionary War. And in so doing, he became General Washington's youngest, and one of his most trusted commanders and advisors in the process. In 1824, a park across from the White House was officially named “Lafayette Park,” in honor of Gilbert de Lafayette – a young man who didn't need to fight in anyone's war but did so for a very personal reason – a reason that will be revealed to you as you listen to the story. Four years after Henry Darger's birth in 1892, his mother died giving birth to his sister – and four years after that – his father died. Henry went first to a Catholic orphanage where he remained until he turned twelve and was taken to a children's asylum. In the late 1920s, he rented a boardinghouse room and found work as a janitor in a Catholic hospital. He lived at that same boardinghouse and worked the same job until his death in 1973. And during those forty plus years – without anyone knowing what he was doing – Henry Darger turned his creative childlike imagination loose – and you are about to find out what he accomplished. History is replete with wars with strange names. Take, for instance, the War of the Oaken Bucket, fought in 1325 between Bologna [Beau – loan – ya] and Modena [Mold – din – uh] that involved 40,000 men in which 2,000 died in battle. And the War of Jenkins Ear between England and Spain that ran from 1739 to 1742 and is chronicled in the 2nd volume of Stories from History's Dust Bin. And how about the War of the Stray Dog in 1925 between Greece and Bulgaria, that began when a Greek soldier inadvertently chased a stray dog into Bulgarian territory and was shot dead – the soldier, not the stray dog – and the fight was on. Hard-headed, brilliant and somewhat restless, Clement came into this world determined to prove himself right. He ending up leaving the same way. America's oldest private library is the Boston Athenaeum. Inside is a book so rare that it requires an advance appointment to view. And here's what makes the book so unique It is the only book written by James Allen, a man who was orphaned early – who grew up in an unfriendly world – who made his way through life as a burglar, a street thief, and a highwayman. He was a man who died in prison in 1837 at the age of 28, and yet, while incarcerated – produced a book worthy of inclusion in the rarified air of the Boston Athenaeum. British actress Laura Keene came to America around 1850, and established herself, first as a capable entrepreneur, and second as an admired actress. When she leased Baltimore's Charles Street Theater in 1853, she became the first woman in America to manage a theatrical business, and in 1856, she opened her own venue, the Laura Keene Theater in New York. In 1858, a play titled Our American Cousin, opened to rave reviews at Laura Keene's Theater, and enjoyed a long run in New York, Philadelphia, and other cities – and in April, 1865 it opened at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. Well, you know what happened next. President and Mrs. Lincoln attended the play where he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth – but there is something else that happened that you aren't likely aware of – for which Laura Keene was once again a leading lady. The noted English philosopher, Jeremy Bentham, was born a child prodigy. At three he was learning Latin; at seven, he was performing difficult violin pieces at social events; and he celebrated his twelfth birthday as a student at Queen's College. Today, nearly 200 years after his death, he is dressed in early 1800s attire – and is awaiting his next opportunity to appear before the University's College Council. Certain days evoke certain human emotions, such as the warmth of Mother's Day, the joy of Christmas, the spookiness' of Halloween, and of course, the spirit of the trickster on April Fools' Day, a day celebrated around the world, but why? What follows is one of the more plausible theories regarding the “WHY” of April Fools' Day – a day whose verifiable origins have been covered by the sands of time – and we'll visit a few of the pranks foisted upon the gullible by those willing to take advantage of April's Fools. Annette Funicello was not yet a teenager when Walt Disney tapped her to become one of his iconic Mouseketeers, and America watched as she developed into the quintessential girl-next-door in the slightly spicy Beach Party flicks. She later showed herself to be a credible vocalist with hits such as Tall Paul and Pineapple Princess, and she became a popular guest on variety and talk shows. No one knows why a person becomes afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis, not even the doctors, but that's what happened to Annette Funicello in 1987, when Annette was diagnosed with the debilitating disease. But instead of saying “Poor Me,” she assisted in raising awareness of the disease through fund-raising events and establishing the Annette Funicello Research Fund for Neurological Diseases in 1993. There are many legends concerning Saint Patrick. For instance, it's often assumed he was of Irish heritage. Not so. Patrick's parents lived in a part of England occupied by the Romans and although he was most likely of British ancestry, he may have been of Roman-Italian descent. Another legend has Patrick fasting for 40 days atop a mountain. As he descended, he came face-to-face with a multitude of snakes. Perhaps in a bad mood from a lack of nourishment, he chased them into the sea and banished them forever. While Ireland is snake free, scientists suggest their absence has less to do with Patrick's anger, and more to do with the Ice Age – and the fact that Ireland is an island. Did you know that Edgar Allan Poe was a superb athlete? That's right. When Princeton University finished the 1889 season with a perfect 10-0 record, the team's star player, Edgar Allan Poe was named the quarterback of America's very first All-American Team. The story is true. That's because Princeton's star quarterback in 1889 was named after his famous second cousin, twice removed, the celebrated author Edgar Allan Poe. The latter having passed away forty years before Princeton's talented quarterback engineered that perfect 10-0 season. Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. When William Claude Dukenfield was eleven – his abusive father hit him in the head with a shovel, so moved in with his grandmother – and there perfected the art of juggling. In his late teens, with the ability to juggle or balance almost anything, he became a vaudeville performer. On stage, he met Hattie, also a juggler and the two married and became a juggling act – until she became pregnant, went home, gave birth, and the marriage eventually lost its luster. It didn't help – that Fields detested his mother-in-law and would come to dinner with a lit cigar in a candle holder balanced atop his head, never conceding its presence to the fear of his mother-in-law. Perhaps Dukenfield's annoying and irascible persona was not just an act after all. Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. Franz Haydn's influence in the world of classical music is unquestioned, and it all began when eight-year-old Franz was asked to sing with the highly respected Saint Stephen's Cathedral Choir in Vienna. It was here, at St. Stephen's, where young Franz learned to play the violin, the piano, and was taught the basics of musical composition. Following his experience at St. Stephens, he trained for three years with Italian composer Nicola Porpora before coming to the attention of Austria's influential Esterhazy family. Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy brought Hayden into his court and put him in charge of the palace orchestra. Now, with his own orchestra and almost unlimited time to compose various forms of music, the appointment was perfect for one of the world's greatest musical composers - a composer who literally lost his head because of his musical genius. With this podcast, we celebrate Saint Valentine's Day – the origin of which – as you will learn – is genuinely heart-rending. There remains some confusion among theologians as to which of two Catholic clerics named Valentinus* lent their name to Valentine's Day. But these days, many believe that those two clerics – a priest and a bishop – were likely the same person because of location and time. You see – the locations are the neighboring cities of Rome and Terni, and it's possible that one cleric worked in both locations but at different times. And what about the time? All activities took place during the third century. Thus, for storytelling purposes, we assume there was one Valentinus, who achieved sainthood, whom we will now refer to as Saint Valentine. I first heard the name, Sidney Reilly, in 1983 when his life-story became a television mini-series titled, Reilly, the Ace of Spies. Then, twenty years later, while dining with friends before leaving for the theater to see – Ian Fleming's latest spy thriller, Casino Royale – someone mentioned they had read somewhere that the famous British spy, Sidney Reilly, had served as the inspiration for Fleming's fictional master spy. Then, a decade later, while working on a list of potential Dust Bin stories, I came across a quote from author Ian Fleming that – with a touch of literary license – reads, “Oh, you mean my fictional intelligence agent. He's just a piece of nonsense I dreamed up. He's not a Sidney Reilly, you know.” And I knew I had another Dust Bin story. The story of Peter Falk and his alter-ego, “Colombo,” is rife with trivia. Some of it easy, such as, “Name a Colombo trait that emphasized his uniqueness.” The right answer could be: his rumpled topcoat, his tendency toward verbosity, his ever-present cigar, or his ugly greenish-brown tie. And some questions could be difficult, such as, “Who was the screen writer's first choice to play the low-key detective?” The answer – believe it or not - was Bing Crosby. And there's this question. Peter Falk had a real-life physical disability that added another dimension to the realism of Falk's Colombo. What was it? If you don't know the answer, it will be revealed to you in the closing paragraphs of the story. Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. Carl Sandburg was born in 1878 to Swedish immigrants. His earliest years were typical of most immigrant children, and as the family's eldest son – with work always needing done, life was never easy. In 1891 and thirteen-years-old, Carl quit school, and within a few years he was a bona fide hobo, traveling the country, working various jobs – until 1898 when he enlisted as a private in the Spanish-American War, and life didn't get any easier. In 1898, he enrolled in college and joined the Poor Writers Club, a group that met to read and critique poetry. There was a friendship formed in that club that led to his becoming one of America's favorite sons. And yet, even at the height of his success – as you will see – he was not always recognized. One of Rosa's most vivid childhood memories, was seeing her grandfather standing in the front yard of their home with a loaded shotgun as a group of Ku Klux Klan members marched down their street. Unable to finish high school, she worked in a shirt factory, and later as a seamstress in a Montgomery, Alabama department store. In 1932 and nineteen years old, she married Raymond Parks, a barber, and back then no one could have guessed - not in a million years - that a seamstress named Rosa would one day receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Among the world's greatest inventions, is that of the calendar, and what better time to gain an understanding of that piece of human ingenuity – than at the beginning of a new year. So, today we begin with an introduction to the word “calendar.” In ancient Rome – the first day of each Roman month was known as Ka-len-die – meaning the day when debts are due for payment. And a person's debts were maintained in an “account book” known as a “Calen-darium – and it is from our borrowing of the Latin word, Calen-daria that we have the English word “calendar.” Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. Little is known about Saint Nicholas, which is not surprising because in his day – written records were kept on papyrus – a primitive type of paper with limited durability. But he was real, and his influence has blessed the world. So, how did Saint Nicholas, who was born nearly three centuries after the birth of Christ – in what is known today as the country of Turkey – find his way to America. Well, I will do my best to inform you – but please realize that some literary license is necessary because, you know, some children – and some grownups with a pure heart might be listening to his podcast. This story, about Girard Van Barkaloo Hale is as unusual as is his name. And because the story is difficult to verify, it was almost omitted from the Dust Bin series. But it was included, essentially on the strength of Girard's illustrious family tree, whose roots took hold a mere fifteen years after the arrival of the Mayflower, and produced several prominent ancestors - and on the strength of Girard's own artistic gifts that made him a famous and wealthy artist in Europe and America. Then, in 1928, after traveling by train to honor a commission to paint a portrait of a wealthy French lady, Girard ended up having an extremely unusual paranormal encounter. This story of John Stapp takes place during the era of the Korean War – the first conflict that saw the engagement of jet fighters. Because jet fighters were capable of high speeds and tight turns, it became imperative to understand the effects of rapid acceleration and deceleration on the human body. Dr. John Stapp was a physician with an added degree in Biophysics, and it was his task to determine how many “G's,” that is, “how many times the gravitational pull of the earth,” – the human body can withstand – and survive? Thus, Dr. John Stapp, who not only contributed to man's knowledge of the limits of the human body, also contributed one of the world's most famous adages, a seven-word gem that you've likely said yourself, and perhaps more than once. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Joseph Pulitzer, publisher of the New York World, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and other newspapers, was one of America's most influential men. In addition to being known for his newspapers, Pulitzer sometimes created the news, such as when he sponsored Nellie Bly's 72-day trip around the world in 1889. Bly's trip was a fanciful challenge to Jules Verne's work of fiction titled Around the World in 80 Days. But there is something else that Pulitzer accomplished with his newspapers, and it over-shadowed the newspaper empire that gave it life, and yet today, few people know of, or appreciate what he did. When a headline-making physicist named Dr. H. Tracy Hall, moved into high school senior Trevor Andersen's neighborhood, Trevor asked the scientist if he would make a guest appearance at his high school's Sapere Aude club. The scientist said he would. The year was 1956. Trevor then met with Sapere Aude president Harry Olson who arranged to have a special meeting held, not in an after-hours high school classroom, but in the spacious home and family room of club member Lynn Poulson. So, what was so special about Dr. H. Tracy Hall? And why did Lynn Poulson insist that "no ordinary classroom will do for Dr. Hall?" It was because of who Dr. Hall was, a man as brilliant as the object he scientifically created from coal -- a man who is known today as the world's first true alchemist. Sam Patch thrived on danger and the public adoration that came with tempting fate. He was also fond of saying, “Some things can be done as well as others,” a quote that falls flat these days. But it must have had some deeper meaning in the early 1800s, as it often appeared on the posters announcing another Sam Patch event. Each advertisement guaranteeing another thrilling leap higher and more spectacular – and more dangerous than the one before. Then came the day he fell to his death. It's not known whether Sam jumped, slipped, or tripped, but some who were there that day say he appeared to stumble as he stepped onto the unique custom-built platform high above the Genesee River. Besides winning the toughest-fought and most hostile presidential race in the history of American politics up to the present day, Rutherford B. Hayes became America's 19th president, and he was one known for keeping his promises. For instance, Hayes announced in advance that he would only serve one term, and he did. He also promised to “clean up” the White House by banning smoking, alcoholic beverages, dancing, and card playing – although his wife received most of the credit, becoming “Lemonade Lucy,” in the process. Oh, and, I just remembered, and I hope I don't get this wrong, but there's a story somewhere about a diplomat – or someone – during the Hayes administration, when asked, “What was dinner like at the White House,” who responded simply, “The water flowed like wine.” Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. Assuming that you are familiar with the legacy of Charles Curtis, we'll dispense with the usual introductory formalities and go directly to the story. What! The name Charles Curtis doesn't mean anything to you? What were you doing when your high school American History class was studying the presidents and vice-presidents? Did I hear your right? That you were passing notes to your prom date? Well, it's a good thing you tuned in, as today's story is about Charles Curtis, who was not only Herbert Hoover's Vice President – but a man who should be remembered for something else that most people have forgotten about today. The name Margaret Hamilton may or may not be familiar to you. But she was an amazing talent who appeared in 72 movies during a Hollywood career that ran from 1933 to 1972 ---- and in 42 made-for-television movies or situation-comedies that ran from 1950 to 1982. Now, let's see, from 1933 to 1982 – that's 49 years of theatrical success – more staying-power than perhaps 95% of her fellow thespians – making her one of Hollywood's most enduring actresses. And – should the name of the character of her best-known role be mentioned – you will immediately connect the character with the name of the movie that launched her career – aboard a most unusual mode of transportation – a broom – in a place known only as the “Emerald City” and into the hearts of children of all ages. Of course you might imagine horses or even fierce dogs and wolves… but let's think a little more creatively. What about rats? Bats? Elephants? True – those creatures have all been used in warfare. But what's an animal NO ONE would ever suspect? Is it possible to effectively surprise your enemy with a common, ordinary creature – and who would be able to pull it off? From The Stories From History's Dust Bin, Volume 3 – comes the story of Dr. Burrhus Frederic Skinner, who, during WWII, was able to weaponize the most ordinary of animals… the pigeon. Emotions ran high following President Lincoln's assassination, much of it based on misinformation-of-the-day. Some accounts claimed that not only had the president been killed, but that Secretary of State William Seward had been slain - and that the Vice President and others on an assassins list. For twelve chaotic days, one thing was certain! Lincoln's assassin needed to be captured and tried as quickly as possible. And it was in this rust to return the country to normalcy that something truly astonishing may have happened. Stories from History's Dust Bin is a 3-volume set of historical short stories. Elfego Baca was the kind of guy from whom legends are made. Beginning with a bizarre childbirth, Elfego's life was never ordinary. But it's for his survival in an impossible situation that he's most remembered. In fact, in 1958, Walt Disney Studios released a television miniseries entitled The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca. It's not that Slim Randles didn't graduate from high school… he just took a different route! Slim's diploma came years later when he was honored, in part, because of the books he's written and for doing something that most folks would never attempt. In one of his books, A Cowboy's Guide To Growing Up Right, he asks “What is it that successful people have in common?” And the answer to that question can be found in the title of the chapter: Find a Passion. Here is the story of Slim Randles, a man who has not only written some wonderful books, but almost "passioned" himself to death on a frozen trail in Alaska. Frank Hayes knew he would win... and his feelings were spot-on. So what do you do when you're a band on top of the world and you've got several platinum selling albums? You all put out solo records, of course. We discuss this weird and unexpected sidetrack in this episode of Sidetracks. From Ace's far superior album to Gene's sad collection of weak sounding wax. Why wouldn't John Lennon and Paul McCartney get back together to be on Gene's album? I suppose if they were into disco... We also delve into the glittery era of KISS (Gene finally got his way) with Dynasty. Which leads to the two coolest members leaving, one by one, although Ace stuck around for their "concept" album. Why? Nobody knows. Find out how we both maneuvered in this new KISS territory and how we felt about this change in their trajectory. Something tells me it doesn't go as well. From Unmasked to Music From The Elder and finally Creatures Of The Night, we give a blow-by-blow of the KISS car with wobbly wheels and how they clearly drove it off the cliff into the ocean, like an episode of The Rockford Files.
Haverá melhor maneira de passar uma hora desta linda quarta-feira do que a aprender termos e vocabulários novos sobre essa linda comunidade que é a LGBTQI+? Nós, sinceramente, achamos que não. O Fred foi a Londres e trouxe um livro muito lindo chamado "From Ace to Ze - The Little Book of the LGBT Terms" escrito por Marriet Dyer. Sentámo-nos à frente do microfone e folheámos o livro para aprendermos umas coisas. Peguem um chá, um café ou um suminho e aprendam connosco. :) Nota: Também há uma intro sobre a série "Riscos" da RTP. Just in case you needed a push. From "Ace to Ankh" On this 3rd episode your hosts rate the 1st makeup era KISS albums from fav to least fav. The discussion includes studio albums only from 1973 to 1983, nothing after Creatures of the Night or after the 1996 reunion. This will be broken up into 2 parts (2nd part will be Ep.4) because we could not possibly do this topic justice in one podcast.
