Re-live your own season while listening to the stories of my friends George Gomez and Rashawn Gordon. George had an incredible Montana hunt and we'll get the highlights from him: dog work, bird numbers and other challenges. (And I share a once-in-aplifetime shot!) Rashawn trains dogs and guides in the Southwest, where he chases primarily Gambel's quail. We'll get advice on steadying dogs to running birds, the importance of recall, and training away from sight points. Listeners share their thoughts on hunting a brace (or more!) of dogs simultaneously, and "Fix It" covers some reasons to take your training into the house. You get a chance to win a pair of Chad Hodge signature choke tubes from Trulock Chokes (value $199) in our furfeathersfriends.com sweepstakes, too, but only if you listen and know the Word of the Week. And it's all brought to you by: HiVizSights.com, Pointer shotguns, @midwayusa, #midwayusa, MidwayUSA, Mid Valley Clays and Shooting School, TrulockChokes, HiViz shooting systems, Purina Pro Plan Sport and FindBirdHuntingSpots.com.
In this episode, we dive deep into the latest pinball rumors, industry news, and some wild speculation—because why not? We kick things off by discussing what Barrels of Fun might have in store for their next game and explore possible themes like Dune, G.I. Joe, and The Goonies (links below for reference). We also chat about Wonderland Amusements and Powlowski Pinball's involvement in the scene. Then, we shift gears to talk about the ever-evolving world of home pinball—does Wonderland's new machine make sense at $799? Can it actually deliver a real pinball experience at that price point, or will it follow the same path as Arcade1Up? Speaking of innovation, we also touch on Multimorphic's P3 platform—a console-like approach to pinball that lets you swap out playfields for a completely new game. On the hardware side, we break down the latest in pinball glass—PinnGlass, JJP Invisiglass, Stern HD Glass, and Voodoo Glass. Plus, we've got some inside scoop on Stern's Venom topper—it's coming VERY soon and might introduce something completely new for a Stern topper. Will it release before TFP? We think so—probably next week! And of course, we couldn't wrap up without talking about Dungeons & Dragons Pinball! So far, it's been an absolute blast with an awesome battle mechanic, but… let's talk about those reboots and crashes. The good news? George Gomez himself confirmed a fix is coming in next week's code update. Looking to Buy a New or Used Pinball Machine? Silverball Chronicles with David and Ron Episode 21 – Inside the Mind of Lyman Sheats Visit Our Silverball Swag Store https://silverballswag.com/collections/silverball-chronicles Episode Summary There are many stars inside the pinball industry, but few create such an emotional ripple in the hobby when they pass. Lyman Sheats gave so much for pinball and always wanted to give more. A perfectionist who was often too hard on himself, Lyman was always looking for ways to improve his games. This month Ron and Dave talk all about the beginnings of Lyman's tournament dominance, his Data East codes, his first days at Bally-Williams, coding Attack from Mars, teaming up with George Gomez, Lyman's drive for perfection, “In Lyman We Trust”, the Masterpiece that is Batman '66 by KaPow Pinball, and his untimely death which rocked the pinball community. Silverball Chronicles with Ron and David Episode 20: Pinball Is Dying - Part 2: Bally/Williams Visit Our Silverball Swag Store https://silverballswag.com/collections/silverball-chronicles Episode Summary The 90s saw the biggest leap in pinball mechanics and technology that the hobby had ever seen. The Dot Matrix Display and how Bally/Williams leveraged it, made the pins from the previous decade look like a horse and buggy. The purchase of Bally by Williams created a competitive shark tank, forcing designers and engineers to continuously one-up each other. But as the 90's marched on, the industry contracted. Designers exited or moved on to other areas, junior designers took their place and built some of the best machines Bally/Williams had produce, but sadly the sales numbers didn't reflect that. Ron and Dave chat all about the final years of Bally/Williams including Adam Rhine's Dot Animation, Congo's amazing shot layout, J-Pop, Attack From Mars, Dave saying 'spider' correctly after listening while editing, George Gomez giving a poetic definition of ‘Flow', Chicago Gaming Company Remakes, and can the magic of Bally/Williams be replicated? Who doesn't love to play vehicular combat games? We can thank George Gomez for creating that genre with the debut of Spy Hunter in 1983. By taking an incredibly catchy tune and adding to the game play, a classic was born. Spy Hunter has a history worth telling, so put on your favorite three piece suit, grab a martini and queue the Peter Gunn theme. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thearcadefiles/message
