This is a stunningly big week for energy networking. In Denver, EnerCom is hosting The Oil and Gas Conference at the Westin and in Houston, the NAPE Summit is taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center, and the Offshore Technology Conference is happening at NRG. Holding conferences the same week in Houston, NAPE and OTC have joined forces with their "Synergy in Energy" program which allows attendees to visit both conferences. We salute EnerCom, NAPE, and OTC for their efforts to help us all have a chance to shake hands again. We took a trip to the NAPE exhibition hall to see the pregame action live and had the chance to visit with Aaron Vandeford, President of EnerCom as well as Jennifer Palladina Taylor, Business Development Manager at NAPE to hear all about these two flagship conferences. We covered a number of topics in our discussion starting with some history about the two conferences, the types of attendees and investors they are drawing and how that has changed, how their themes have morphed in the past few years, and overall how excited they are to be in person again. Thanks to Aaron and Jennifer for taking time out of their busiest week of the year to visit with us. We had a great conversation! We started the session with the TPH team: Mike Bradley shared an update on the oil market, the Delta virus overhang, and current stock trading levels. Colin Fenton took us to the future with new fusion energy technology from the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and also put the spotlight on two recent "letter writing campaigns" coming out of Washington DC.It's a huge week for pressing ahead and also continuing to be careful. One of the great things you will hear in today's segment is that at NAPE they have set up a vaccination station sponsored by the good folks at Kroger.----------Copyright 2021, Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Last Saturday, Matt, Paul and Stephen Izzo, three ultramarathoning brothers, ran 73.8 miles on treadmills in the expo of the Houston Marathon. Then on Sunday, they ran 26.2 miles in the Houston Marathon-- completing 100 miles, what they called the "Houston Hundred." Our friends at Aftershokz were supporting them and invited me to come down to Houston to bear witness to this amazing feat and to share their journey on the podcast. What an honor! I met the brothers shortly before they began their run at 1AM Saturday Morning in the abandoned Marathon expo in the George R. Brown Convention Center. It was eerie being the only ones in the convention center. And HOT, since they turned off the AC and ventilation! I watched the brothers run their first miles and did my best to record how they were feeling upon the start of such an epic quest. Then I went to my hotel and fell asleep. By the time I arrived back at the convention center on Saturday morning, the brothers already covered about 45 miles! They were looking strong, but were able to share some of the highs and lows through the night-- and also share their insights for how they get themselves through the low points... One mile at a time. Together. I checked back in with them a few more times on Saturday and even got a nice guest appearance by our friend Meb Keflezghi who ran a few miles with them on the treadmills on Saturday afternoon. Then on Sunday, I had the honor of running the Houston Marathon with them. I wasn't prepared, but I wasn't going to let an opportunity like that pass me up. Plus I knew I'd be feeling fresher than they were... Though I was indeed nervous about being able to keep up with them, I would have thrown myself in front of a bus before letting them drop me. It was a beautiful day on Sunday and the brothers ran STRONG, completing the marathon in 4:30, more than respectable under any circumstances-- let alone for having run 73.8 miles the day before. All in all, they completed the 100 miles in under 20 hours which is damn impressive. Most impressive for me though was just witnessing their relationship as brothers. They support each other, pick each other up, challenge each other-- and just have a lot of fun together. It was an honor to share this experience with them, and to help share it with all of you. Big thanks to Matt, Paul and Stephen (and Aftershokz) for being so awesome! #EveryMileMatters :)

What is operational excellence? How do business practices balance with safety? Mark and Patrick, had a chance to talk with Russel Treat, CEO Enersys Corporation and Host of Pipelines podcast about how technology is affecting the industry. “Simply stated- in pipelining, a lot of the operators talk about triple zero. So that's no injuries, no incidents, no releases," says Russel Treat. "That's a part of operations excellence, the other part of operations excellence is on schedule- on spec. Operations effectiveness is everything you're doing to deliver your commitments on spec- on schedule without incident, without injury, and without releases.” Click Play to Hear the Oil and Gas HSE Podcast Episode 85 – EnerSys Corporation Upcoming Events UrTec – July 23-25, 2018 Houston, Texas | George R. Helen Callier is the Chair of the Government Procurement Connection, which will host the 20th annual conference on March 27 and 28 at the George R. Brown. A Brief History of GPC When the Economic Development and Monitoring Section of the Affirmative Action and Contract Compliance office was established, one of the first items on the agenda was to survey MWBE owners to determine their most critical areas of need. The top responses were access to contracting opportunity information, networking and contacts. What better way to meet these two objectives than to provide a forum where MWBEs can interface with contracting and procurement representatives from each City department in order to learn about their respective contracting opportunities? Thus, City Connections was born. The first event, held May 1996, was on a small scale, in the center ballroom of the George R. Brown Convention Center. At the following year's event, state agencies, banks and resource agencies, free workshops and seminars, and the Awards Luncheon were added.
