This week, Tate sits down with Jake Beital of Prize Horse for an unforgettable convo that kicks off with an instant Minnesota connection. From the Twin Cities to deep dives into the local music scene, Jake paints a vivid picture of home — and yes, he comes prepared with a stacked list of his favorite hometown restaurants. After a quick warm-up, the two dive into the heart of it: music. Jake opens up about Under Sound, the record Prize Horse dropped last year that's taken on a timeless life of its own. Even two years after recording, he's still proud of what they created — and listeners clearly agree. They also look back on their recent tour with Gleemer, calling it a huge honor, and preview what's next: dates with Superheaven, Glare, Spy, and a just-about-to-kick-off run with Soul Blind. Prize Horse is not slowing down anytime soon. Jake also shares what it's been like coming up in a close-knit local scene, the friendships that helped build the band, and what keeps that community thriving. From lyric writing and album artwork to the very first time he picked up an instrument — nothing's off the table in this wide-ranging, heartfelt interview. Whether you're a fan of the band, the scene, or just love a good story — this one's a must-listen.

In this episode of Connected Parenting, I dive into a concept I call emotional glare—a phenomenon that every parent of a strong-willed, reactive child has likely experienced. If you have a sassy, feisty, gladiator child who seems to be in constant conflict with the world, you know exactly what I'm talking about.Emotional glare is what happens when you reflect back your child's feelings, set limits, or share your own emotions—and instead of calming things down, it triggers an even bigger emotional explosion. This episode unpacks why traditional parenting strategies often fail spectacularly with reactive children and offers solutions that actually work. We'll explore ways to diffuse emotional glare, help your child build distress tolerance, and establish calm communication strategies that strengthen your relationship without escalating conflict.Jennifer's Takeaways:Understanding Emotional Glare (00:00)Characteristics of Gladiator Kids (01:53)Common Parenting Strategies and Their Effects (04:08)The Calm Technique for Gladiator Kids (08:27)Handling Emotional Protests (12:10)Maintaining a Neutral Tone (14:51)Meet Jennifer KolariJennifer Kolari is the host of the “Connected Parenting” weekly podcast and the co-host of “The Mental Health Comedy” podcast. Education On Fire - Sharing creative and inspiring learning in our schools
Great buildings need a connection to the outdoors, one that is only achieved through the use of glass. Uncontrolled sunlight causes glare and overheating that can make an otherwise beautiful space painful to be in. New building energy codes can block your way. So Dr. Doug Milburn of Advanced Glazings Ltd created Solera® a line of highly insulating light diffusing glass. What you should consider about Daylighting Education.Daylighting done well produces visual comfort. Glare is eliminated. Light intensity is even. Eyes never strain to reveal detail in a space.Daylighting done well doesn't compromise the thermal efficiency of a building envelope. With the right product, daylighting can actually enhance thermal efficiency.Daylighting done well permits sunlight to penetrate deep within a space, not merely along its perimeter. Glare caused by the sharp contrast between light and dark is eliminated, creating well-lit interiors for occupants.Daylighting done well comes in the form of insulated translucent glazings that provide the highest thermal performance requirements with a very small environmental footprint.Daylighting done well should not necessitate the use of costly passive daylighting controls such as interior blinds or exterior sunshades.Dr. Doug Milburn is the founder of Advanced Glazings Ltd. He talks to me about his knowledge and passion to create the best possible environment for students to learn. We discuss how this can be achieved and the technology available with his product Solera.Websitewww.advancedglazings.comSocial Media Informationwww.instagram.com/advancedglazingsltdwww.podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/better-buildings-for-humans/id1703272153https://www.instagram.com/bbfhpodDiscover more about Education on Fire
On today's episode I start off high and dry without the mix, don't worry I'll tighten up soon so bare with me. I talk about my trip into the city and how everyone was on Deeman time. I also partake in big backtivities over some generic cookies which almost led to a full out riot. I also get interviewed by Newsday about a beloved movie theater shut down that i use to go to with my slide. (00:00-35:01) I have a new not so new segment which is about movie reviews and spoilers. This week i speak about the film “Robocop 2” and how one scene i missed as a toddler i caught as an adult . Like why are crackheads buying drugs in bulk with gold bars??? (35:02-42:48) I then jump into The Cool Report where i discuss our economy again and Fema telling us they're broke and most likely will be asking us for money. I discuss the longshoreman strike and i don't know where to stand on this subject because i do agree on the raise for them but we need not to forget about the thousands of others that are not in the position to make the same demands. To lighten it up the mood i discuss the new list Worldstar dropped naming the top 50 worse rappers. The list was disrespectful. (42:49-01:18:51) We then step into a segment where the listeners ask me 3 questions about myself. Like what is new in my dating life, am I being a naught boy. Another ask, what is my favorite past time drill song, and i give y'all a banger. I also give in detail that one time i had a bad trip, which is why i just say no. (01:18:52-01:38:35) Then we have 2 fans ask us a questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. Like when does she lose the baby weight, which was a huge curveball. I don't think he will like the response. Another lover deals with their partner being a kleptomaniac and how to deal with it before the long arm of the law catches up. (01:38:36-01:49:20) THE FIN We give a farewell to the music selection and give off some Blessings (01:49:21-01:52:43) please continue to like, share, comment and subscribe. PEACE OUT!!!! Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! Greek & Roman Mythology Retold
We're back with more bonus mythological content based on QCODE's new podcast CUPID! This time, the finale... What's the deal with Greek myth, anyway? Listen to Cupid wherever you get your podcasts. Find more LTAMB episodes devoted to these characters and stories in this Spotify playlist, and even more playlists here.CW/TW: far too many Greek myths involve assault. Given it's fiction, and typically involves gods and/or monsters, I'm not as deferential as I would be were I referencing the real thing.Attributions and licensing information for music used in the podcast can be found here: mythsbaby.com/sources-attributions.
