Send voice or text msgA story of big ideas and bold curiosity! David Unaipon was an Aboriginal Australian inventor, author, preacher, and lifelong learner who never stopped asking “what if?” His invention of mechanical sheep shears helped farmers go from shearing 30 to 300 sheep a day. It was life-changing! He used scientific thinking and Aboriginal knowledge to create solutions far ahead of his time, including concepts for rotary-wing flight before helicopters existed. David traveled across Australia, sharing ideas about science, storytelling, and culture, inspiring people wherever he went. Today, he appears on Australia's 50-dollar note, a tribute to his brilliant mind and never-give-up spirit.Go to the episode webpage: https://jonincharacter.com/david-unaipon/   DOWNLOAD COLOR PAGE: https://bit.ly/dorktales129colorpages          FREE ACTIVITY GUIDE on David Unaipon: https://dorktalesstorytime.aweb.page/ep129freePDF If you enjoyed this story about David Unaipon, you may also enjoy learning about the agricultural inventor, George Washington Carver: https://jonincharacter.com/george-washington-carver/ CREDITS: Hidden Heroes of History is a Jonincharacter production. If your metabolism feels stuck… If hormones feel chaotic… If digestion, energy, or weight loss feel harder than they should… Your liver is likely part of the story. In this episode, Ellie dives into the liver — an organ that quietly performs hundreds of vital functions every single day, yet is often overlooked until symptoms appear. We break down what the liver actually does, why it plays such a critical role in metabolism, digestion, hormone balance, and detoxification, and how modern life has placed an unprecedented load on this powerful system. You'll learn: Why the liver is the metabolic “air traffic control center” of the body How liver function impacts digestion, bile flow, and nutrient absorption The connection between the liver and hormone balance (including estrogen and cortisol) Why liver overload can stall fat loss and disrupt blood sugar How stress and emotional load influence liver signaling in the body Simple, realistic ways to support liver health — without extreme detoxes or deprivation This episode isn't about “cleanses” as a trend. It's about understanding why support matters and how partnering with your body changes everything downstream. When the liver is supported, metabolism gets easier. Hormones regulate more smoothly. Energy returns.

Picture this: A world where the Holocaust is just a tiny footnote in the grand saga of World War II, where Auschwitz is a mere mention in a history book, overshadowed by the local chemical industry. Sounds unreal, right? Well, that was the reality in post-war West Germany—a time when many folks were keen to sweep the past under the rug. Enter Fritz Bauer, a Jewish judge who had a front-row seat to the horrors of the Nazi regime and was determined to drag his fellow Germans into a confrontation with their past. In this lively chat with journalist Jack Fairweather, we dive deep into Bauer's relentless quest for justice and how he orchestrated monumental trials that forced Germany to reckon with its history. Fairweather, who's no stranger to the dark alleys of history, sheds light on Bauer's extraordinary life, his struggles as a gay man in a hostile environment, and his fight against the tide of denial that swept through a country still reeling from the devastation of the war. The episode is packed with rich historical context and Fairweather's passion shines through as he recounts how Bauer not only sought justice for the victims but also envisioned a better, more progressive Germany. It's a compelling narrative that will have you questioning how we confront our own dark histories today.[00:00] Introduction: The Forgotten Holocaust[00:43] Meet Fritz Bauer: The Relentless Prosecutor[00:52] Interview with Jack Fairweather[01:12] Welcome to St. Louis in Tune[02:30] Jack Fairweather's Background[03:17] The Battle for Holocaust Recognition[08:09] Fritz Bauer's Struggles and Achievements[18:53] The Importance of Bauer's Story Today[21:16] Bauer's Role in Capturing Eichmann[22:32] Bauer's Personal Challenges[23:42] Conclusion and Upcoming Events[26:35] Exploring Fritz Bauer's Motivation[27:15] The Power of Biography[28:26] Bauer's Vision for Germany[31:29] The Impact of the Frankfurt Trials[34:27] Bauer's Strategy and Challenges[39:02] The Auschwitz Trial[40:39] Jack Fairweather's Journey[42:16] Book Recommendations and Event Details[44:47] Reflecting on Bauer's Legacy[47:08] Conclusion and FarewellTakeaways: The podcast delves into the chilling reality of post-World War II Germany, where the Holocaust was largely ignored and former Nazis resumed their lives. Fritz Bauer, a courageous gay Jewish judge, fought to bring the horrors of the Holocaust to light amidst a society eager to forget. Jack Fairweather's book, 'The Prosecutor', reveals how Bauer spearheaded legal battles to confront Germany's dark past and seek justice. The episode highlights how Bauer's efforts were crucial in changing the narrative around the Holocaust, particularly through landmark trials. Listeners are encouraged to reflect on the importance of confronting uncomfortable truths about history to prevent future atrocities. The conversation emphasizes that understanding our past is essential to shaping a more just and aware society today. The complexities of EV battery technology are getting more and more... well... complex. But, while attributes like range, longevity, durability and chemistry tend to get much of the limelight, there's one aspect of EV battery R&D that sits in the background without getting the fanfare it rightly deserves: Testing."As the battery is becoming more and more important as the propulsion energy storage system, there's a lot of testing and a lot of validation that needs to be done," says Don Wright, Unico vice president of engineering. "Those tests are very demanding, and as the battery packs start to change and we're getting into higher voltages and higher powers, the test equipment that goes along with it needs to change as well. This is where we're starting to see the transition to much higher power systems and higher voltages for our test equipment; we even have battery pack test systems that go up to 2,000-3,000 volts for very large applications."On this episode of The Amped EV Podcast, Wright highlights the importance of adapting test equipment to accommodate emerging trends, expectations and new business possibilities regarding the future of battery-swapping technology, and what we know about the integration of solid-state batteries in EVs. The Buzz: www.thebuzzevnews.com

A story of boldly going where no one had gone before! Nichelle Nichol's role as Lieutenant Uhura in the original Star Trek series was groundbreaking. Civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. praised her work for defying stereotypes and revolutionizing portrayals of Black individuals on television. Her influence and advocacy for more diversity at NASA sparked new interest in space travel and helped to recruit brilliant STEM talents like Dr. Sally Ride, Colonel Guion Bluford, and Mae Jemison.SYNOPSIS: While Jonathan and Mr. Redge are at the Once Upon a Time Con, they come across an artist booth called Deep Space Drawings by Deanna. They meet Deanna, who is a fan of Star Trek and has created artwork inspired by the series. They share Nichelle Nichols story and her role as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura and how it was one of the first non-stereotypical portrayals of a Black woman on television. They also talk about how Martin Luther King Jr. convinced Nichelle Nichols to stay on the show because of the positive impact her character had on the civil rights movement. Besides her role as Uhura, Nichelle Nichols also created new interest in space exploration and opened the doors of opportunity for more people of color to work at NASA. Impressed by Deanna's art and inspired by the story of Nichelle Nichols, Redge decides to purchase some of Deanna's paintings. He declares himself a Trekkie and expresses his eagerness to explore space. The episode concludes with the hosts and Deanna bidding farewell and wishing each other to "live long and prosper." You've heard me talk about awesome series, great main characters and awesome plot lines. But this is the hall of fame for all those side characters, who are the hidden heroes within the main characters' stories. This is a tribute to their role in bringing the story forward, entertaining us and making us fall in love with them. This episode is in partnership with Ana Luisa, whose 'Dobby' earrings inspired the topic of today's episode because Dobby is such an awesome secret hero as well. You can follow my personal link here, where you can easily find all the jewelry I talked about: https://shop.analuisa.com/childofthelibrary !Spoiler Warning! I will talk about a few popular series and I will go into spoiler territory for the fate of the side characters, so please skip ahead if you want to avoid being spoiled for: 1) Dobby from the Harry Potter series 2) Rig from the Skyward series 3) The Arrow of Dodona from the Trials of Apollo series 4) Shigure Soma from the Fruits Basket Manga series 5) Zelle from the Girls of Paper and Fire series 6) Iko from the Lunar Chronicles 7) Steris from the second part of the Mistborn series My Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/childofthelibrary My StoryGraph: https://app.thestorygraph.com/profile/child_of_the_library_podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/childofthelibrary/

The Locked On Bucs Podcast continues it's parade of top-shelf guests from inside the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization and the media scene around the team. Today, Greg Auman of The Athletic joins James Yarcho and David Harrison of BucsNation.com to discuss defense. Just how much better can Todd Bowles' unit get in it's second-season together. Can Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaquil Barrett headline a pass rush which can get to opposing quarterbacks fifty or more times? Greg also picks his "Hidden Hero" candidate for the 2020 season. Plus, what's up with the Alvin Kamara situation with the New Orleans Saints? Auman helps answer all of these questions - BUT FIRST - the guys react to the official signing of Ryan Succop and subsequent release of Elliott Fry, and then answer another Twitter question from a Locked On Bucs listener!Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Rock AutoAmazing selection.
