Today's business challenges are unprecedented. Companies are dealing with an explosion of data and applications. IT environments are complex and acquisitions of longtime vendors are having the C-suite rethink their install base.Meanwhile, shadow IT is swiping credit cards simply to get work done which exacerbates the challenge. Lack of flexibility and choice lead business units to solve their problems the best way they can. Unfortunately, some decisions are not easy to change once applications are up and running.Hyperconverged infrastructure on-premises fixed a lot of issues around responding to the speed of the business and now has made its way into the public cloud over the last five years. Today, a single cloud platform can address security, management and data sovereignty by deploying into the right hyperscaler, service provider or edge site where more and more processing occurs.Blog: https://www.nutanix.com/blog/storage-mobility-to-meet-the-challenges-of-hybrid-multicloud post by Dwayne LessnerHost: Phil SellersCo-Host: Jirah CoxCo-Host: Ben Rogers

Electric vehicle (EV) adoption will take more than tax credits. Because of so-called “range anxiety” – motorists' worry that EVs will leave them stranded when their batteries run out – it also will require a marked increase in the number of EV charging stations. Specifically, cloud-enabled smart charging stations. In this story by The Forecast […]

https://go.dok.community/slack https://dok.community/ From the DoK Day EU 2022 (https://youtu.be/Xi-h4XNd5tE) The storage topology in vogue seems to cycle every few years. Internal storage is followed by centralized Storage Area Networks only to be superseded by one-size-fits-all Hyperconverged models - until scalability constraints led to distributed storage. Then comes NVMe, offering blistering speeds that all of these storage stacks struggle with. Kubernetes inspires Container Attached Storage aspiring to be the perfect model, so why is disaggregated storage now making an appearance? This talk considers the motivations behind yet another storage topology and examines a modern, flexible architecture for delivering high-performance storage under Kubernetes. Nick Connolly is a pioneer of storage virtualisation and the Chief Scientist at DataCore, where his background in real-time computing and multiprocessing led to the creation of a world-class high-performance storage stack on Windows. He holds patents ranging from highly scalable algorithms through to data protection techniques. Recently he has been working with OpenEBS to bring the power and performance of NVMe to Kubernetes.
In this podcast segment, The Forecast's editor Ken Kaplan talks to Tony Palmer, principal validation analyst at research firm ESG, who tested Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS, designed to reduce the operational complexity of migrating, extending or bursting business applications and data between on-premises and clouds. Hyperconverged storage is a part of hyperconverged infrastructure that brings cloud architecture to IT datacenters and powers modern enterprise applications without the need for dedicated storage arrays and storage teams. It uses distributed storage algorithms to keep data protected, available, and secure at all times. Compared to traditional infrastructure, hyperconverged storage makes it easier for IT admins to manage storage resources and lower total cost of ownership, securing better pricing on storage than from public cloud service providers.Host: Harvey GreenCo-host: Jirah Cox
